Supernal Meaning

First Buds of Spring: Spring is when the planting is done. The winter frosts retreat and the showers of spring promise renewal and rebirth into summer. Without the work begun in Spring, there can be no Autumn harvest. And without the planting, tending, and reaping, there is no food for the long and quiet winter. The first buds of spring were always a promise to the people that rebirth was coming, but also a herald of the work yet to be done.

Great Rights

The Council of the Wise openly honors all five of the Great Rights.

Right of Crossing:

We welcome all Awakened of pure heart to pass through our territory, and to linger there in enjoyment of its beauty and its culture. We ask you not to harm or do workings on its people, to report your paradoxes or incidents of note to us promptly, and to attempt to leave it better than you found it. If you pass by our sanctum, please announce your intention to do so prior to your appearance. We will ensure there is tea.

Right of Emeritus:

We acknowledge the wisdom of our council, the sacrifice of its officers and those of the Orders, the wisdom of the Elder of the Children, and of their emissariate. We acknowledge the wisdom in you also, and hope that you can say the same of us in your time.

Right of Hospitality:

For three days and three nights, petitioners may enjoy our hospitality. While you are here, you are our friends. We will protect you from trouble and help you negotiate your nemesis if that is what you are fleeing. At the end of three days, you are free to ask for that protection again. If you have been kind to us, we may return your kindness. There will be tea.

Right of Nemesis:

The purpose of the warrior is to grasp the long and the short sword and to die. Face your enemy with an empty mind and become the sword. If you win, very well. If you lose, very well. Do both with your eyes open. If there is another option than this, pursue it. If there is not, pursue only the cut and to be cutting. Do not fear defeat; fear dishonor.

Right of Sanctuary:

Respect our home as you respect your own. There will be tea.
