Soulwardens' Sanctum

Log

Jeremiah Hamilton: With their resident Farseeker being in the profession that he was music playing from some corner of the sanctum was something of a given whenever Jeremiah was home. On this particular afternoon the playlist was keyed towards some of the more upbeat tunes of the 80s and could be heard wafting from the kitchen as the Warlock eyed what was in the fridge to figure out something for lunch, head bopping along to the music as he did so.

Mary Toombs: Music? Upbeat music? In came Mary, dancing and singing along at the top of her voice and dressed in a yellow dress that swirled around her ankles with her movements. Dancing she could do, and very well, with the balance of a trained warrior and the agility of a Thrysus. Singing?

Best not to comment there.

What she lacked in talent she made up for in eagerness though, skipping around Jay and beaming brightly at him.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah smiled as Mary danced her way in, taking her hand and even giving her a little twirl if she was willing. "Hey there. How goes?"

Mary Toombs: She rests a hand on his shoulder, twirling with a huge smile. "Gonna visit Fox and Vasha soonish, bring 'em some of my tea. Plus, Kay is back. And safe and sound." A keen nod. "So lotta things to make me happy. How's you? Where'd you sneak off to the other night? I liked the leftovers you bought back."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Give them a congrats from me when you go. I met him at the arboretum a few nights ago, seems like an alright guy." He smirked at the 'sneaking off' comment, going a little sheepish - an unusual expression for the Warlock indeed. "Dinner date that went exceptionally well. I ran into her and another musician I know in town at Fairmount last week or so and we hit it off, met for coffee a couple days later then she invited me over."

Mary Toombs: "I surely will." Mary agrees happily. "And he is. And funny, he made me laugh a whole lot." And then Jay is spilling some news of his own and she's studying him with a slowly growing, delighted grin. "Well. Well well well. Love is in the air? Or some really good chemistry at least?" A warm hug's offered. "Happy for you, either way around."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Really good chemistry, for sure." He happily took up the hug offer, still smiling when it was done. "It's been a while since I clicked with someone like that, not going to lie."

Mary Toombs: "So." A soft smile. "Tell me about her? I mean, what's okay to and all. Don't wanna pry into anything private." She glances at the fridge. "Any tasty food to scavenge?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Think there's some of the panak paneer left." He glanced back to the shelves as well before looking back to Mary. "Her name's Polly, and she's the lead singer for Flout, a synth-pop ish group based here out of Philly. She has an amazing singing voice, and we had a couple of really solid duets in the park."

Kayle Sockum: A distant door opens and closes, another rounds of not-so-perfect singing is heard, which matches the song choice made by Jay. More footsteps that grow closer and there we have it, a Kayla appears around the corner. She's barefooted, a pair of white shorts and a blue tanktop, hair tied back into a braid and she carries something in her hands, wrapped in black piece of fabric. "Well hey there! seems like I'm just in time for catch up hours! Mind if I join?"

Mary Toombs: "Kaaaaay!" Mary sings out. "Jaaaay met someone." She bounces on her own, bare feet, exuberant. "And mm, yes." Nodding keenly she grabs panak paneer from the fridge, holding it up in offer to serve some out for the other two. "Can I hug you?" She asks the new arrival. "And maybe kiss you too?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Hey..." Jeremiah replied with a sheepish smirk, nodding at the offer for the Indian to be dished out before looking to Kay and motioning her in. "Get in here. How'd the trip downstairs go?"

Kayle Sockum: Kay gently, carefully set down the covered thing she's carrying down on the nearest safe space and she quickly accept a hug and kiss Mary's cheek, squeezing really hard. "Haha, you're trapped, I'm not letting you go." She says with a mischievous grin, tho its obvious there's a bit of an emotional smile. "And I'm really happy you met someone Jay, I promise I won't embarass you or anything." which is to say, she won't stop Mary from acting like she is now.

"The trip to the underworld went okay, minor hiccups at the start because I wasn't as prepared for it as I thought I was." a shrug, while still holding Mary. "But we got there and holy shit did I get served the Life changing realization I was hoping for."

Mary Toombs: Mary wraps arms around Kay in turn, hugging tightly back and burying her face in the other's hair, taking a few deep breaths and hiding the faint hint of tears. Absence ended. "Please don't." She takes a few minutes to compose herself, still clinging to Kay. "Good. That's good. I know how much you were seeking to learn from there." She draws a breath. "Her name's Polly and she's a singer too, but, I'll let Jay say more. And try to not be too embarrassing and all."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Appreciate it." Jeremiah smiled as he watched the two lovebirds reconnect. "I ran into her and another musician friend of mine in Fairmount and we hit it off really well along with an amazing impromptu jam session. We did coffee at the cafe a bit after that and I showed her around the studio, then she invited me over to her place for dinner. It's been a while since I clicked with anyone that well, so I'm...nervous? Excited? Both?"

Kayle Sockum: While remaining inside of Mary's arms, and holding her still, she sways side to side to make them both move closer to Jay so she could reach him from around Mary and pulls him into silly little side hug. "Hopefully, we can meet Polly soon and maybe hear about her band and music. Maybe a little duet too. And I'm glad you're excited about that!" genuine joy in her voice.

"I also got to be a little shit and help someone be a little shit while there." A nod, that wasn't like, an entirely surprising thing, Kay did leave them with a ghost of herself behind who likely played a few pranks. "Just with a different kind of scope too."

Mary Toombs: "Both make sense." She nods at Jay. "See how things go before she bumps into us all? I mean, you've got a whole bunch of roommates, don't wanna risk scaring her off by crowding her. But it'd be really good to meet her, mm." A keen nod of agreement to Kay, one of her arms reaching out too for offering Jay a hug. "So, usual stuff then?" She responds to Kay on being a little shit, sticking her tongue out.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah scooted in for the group hug, still smiling a touch. "Yeah, haven't mentioned my living arrangements quite yet. I'll let you guys know before bringing here over, though. And their music's online, can cue it up whenever."

Kayle Sockum: "Is Polly in the know in anyway?" Kay asks appreciating the cuddly moment between all of them and sighing in strange contentment, she loosen the hug on Mary but only so she can hang from the side and more normally interact with both of them at the same time.

"And yeah, except I don't usually do it with a partner quite like that one." A kiss to Mary's cheek follows. "Also, like I told Mary. The tree we have in the arboreum is a cuttle widdle sprout." a beat, maybe there's a touch of emotion when she says it. "I don't think the Underworld tree fits in Kensington in terms of width."

Mary Toombs: "The Tree. It's.. mm. The physical reality is so shallow compared to what's beneath. I wonder if they're the same Tree, reaching throughout all existence, all planes." That kiss is taken, returned. "I can see why that'd be life changing."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "She is, but she doesn't know that I know that. I want to let it come up naturally if she decides to let me know."

Jeremiah's eyebrow arched up at the comment about the tree, letting out a low whistle. "No shit..."

Kayle Sockum: "What's life changing is when you realize that, the community of ghostly being that lives were given that version of the Tree by the mother." A soft sigh. "She knew a lot of her own people would not be able to move on after what happened to her culture, so she nurtured their unlife as best she could, providing them with what they needed from the tree there." a soft little sign again "The depth of which her care goes is what... changed me." she rest her head on Mary's shoulder.

"The tree there has an avatar, a being that speaks. A little bit like Lala is for me, I figure. She just...talks with the ghost people community over there." she looks back at the package she came in with. "I was curious about the mushrooms I found laying about the trees and she... well, indirectly asked me to study what she calls the Ashes of the Mother." a beat. "She wants to know what the mother didn't tell her about when she made everything."

Mary Toombs: "Oh. Oh!" Mary gently strokes Kay's hair as she rests her head on her shoulder. "So much wisdom, and compassion. It wasn't just about making Gaviscon face his sins, or us all facing the same. It was so much more. That Tree had many different reasons for existing, and I'm sure there are even more we don't know about yet." Her eyes stray to the package too. "Did she specify just you?" She asks Kay.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah remained quiet as Kay spoke, glancing towards the package before nodding. "That's something else...if there's anything we can do to help you on that front let us know."

Kayle Sockum: "The spores or mushroom needs a potentia per day or so to survive away from the tree and I'm still waiting on my dreams and my scrutiny to make sense and uncloud this mystery." A little nod there. "She gave them to me and had to remind me she'd have to stop me if I meddled with it while in the underworld. It was her working against some instruction in a clever manner." a little smile. "Little rebel that we are. She also said to send her love to the other emanations of the tree."

"And no, she didn't specify just me, but I don't feel like I should let a whole host of people study this. I'll need to return this eventually. Thankfully, now I can just open a door that leads there and not take so much time heading there."

Mary Toombs: "It's your lead." She nods at Kay, in full agreement with Jay. "And you're sneaky, yes." A fond smile. "Just let us know if you want any help, it's in your hands, she trusted you with this. And we won't let Hearth cook them into anything."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Indeed." Jeremiah replied with a smirk. "Oh...speaking on a magical studies front, I'm going to be working with Juno to learn Forces. Wanting to branch out into working with physical light as much as I do the Supernal version."

Kayle Sockum: Kay smiles at Jay's announcement on the Force front and nods eagerly. "Good! I might branch out to Fate a little bit eventually, or focus on life." A little nod "I was planning on letting them chill near the one you planted around the Hallow and see how they reacted there."

Mary Toombs: "I'm musing where to take my studies next." Mary admits, then reluctantly disentangles herself from the hugging. "In the meantime though, I've gotta run for a yoga class. But, I'm gonna be around later." A quick glance at Kay, a pause and a faint blush on her cheeks as she smiles softly. "Good, yes?"

Kayle Sockum: "I should be here the rest of the day." she pokes Mary's nose. "Have fun at yoga, Mary!" a kiss to the cheek "Be safe!"

Mary Toombs: "Then I'll see you soon." She promises, laughing at the poke and winking at Kay before turning to make her way out.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "See you later." Jeremiah gave Mary a quick salute as she headed off, then looked back to Kay with a smile. "Anything else you're working on at the moment?"

Kayle Sockum: "Right this moment, I'm thinking of letting this whole trip help me ... with making my own legacy. I'm not entirely sure how or where to start, but I definitely have these weird energies and thoughts dancing around my head about it." she nods. "Otherwise, I'm planning on visiting Balm soon, for advice."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I bet. What you saw sounds like as good an inspiration for a soul-shaping as anything. Hope you get something solid out of it."

Kayle Sockum: "i'll probably need some help with scribing a new Daimonomikon... I'm not even sure I said the proper word." a little chuckle there. "Because that would make it a new thing, I don't think it already exist." a soft pondering tone.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Think that's it, yeah." He nodded, smiling a touch. "It might not, but if it's the path your soul was meant to go down then it's important to do so."

Kayle Sockum: Kay smiles at that and nods. "Are you planning on writing a song for Polly?" She asks for just a little smile and then leans back to grab the aforementioned sporeling from the previous perch.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Aaaand cue that sheepish look again. "...maybe."

Kayle Sockum: Kay makes a sound, it's probably between a squee and a scream of joy and she seems happy and excited about the idea. "oh I can't wait to hear how that goes!"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not sure if it'll be something for her or something for her to sing yet, but I'll see what comes to me." He replied with a small smile, leaning against the kitchen counter behind him. "She's...something else, that's for sure."

Kayle Sockum: "Oh, that's right, she's on a band! That would a great gift, of course making sure you work within her preferred style would probably be best there." she smiles brightly. "But not like you didn't figure that out on your own" a soft chuckle follows.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmhmm. Her band's probably going to be using the studio above their cafe to work on their next album, so I'll get a good feel for it that way."

Kayle Sockum: Kay smiles. "Good, do you have any of her music up?, I'd like to have a listen!" she says "I know you said so earlier, but, you know."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sure, gimme a sec." He reached over to grab his phone and pause the music already playing, flipping over to one of their songs on Spotify. "They've been working together for a bit and they've done some regional touring, plus a recent run out in LA."

Kayle Sockum: Kayla nods and listens for a while. She slowly move her body to the music, not quite dancing but the sound clearly makes an impact. "Oh I like the mood of it." She announces enthusiastic, after a while of quiet listening. "Did you ever meet her while you were in LA yourself or was it at a different time?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Different time...which I'm kind of grateful for, honestly. Doubt I would've made a good impression back then."

Kayle Sockum: Kay slowly plays with the black wraps of clothes around the small package in her hands and she smiles. "Growth" she makes a little growing gesture as she expend the Potentia for the day for the little thing with her. "i also heard something about you meeting Nevy recently? How're they doing?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Exactly." He nodded with a small smirk. "They're doing good. Talked with them again last night while dropping off some of the extras from Heather's last baking experiment and they're hoping to come by this weekend. We're also planning on doing some of my own legacy work together at some point, which should be interesting."

Kayle Sockum: "Oh great, what's that work entails, if that's okay for you to share?" She asks, curious. "What part of it are you working on?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It's the first step on the Path, as it were, that grants Supernal Vision without the usual Quiessence issues. They're a Sleepwalker so that part won't be as much of an issue, but while they've seen some of the magic we can do I wanted to show them the backstage view, as it were."

Kayle Sockum: "That ought to be interesting, If you want I could ask Lala to show up and see if they can spot the difference between a regular ghost and the fact that she's the result of a spell?" She asks, curious. "If Nevy wants to try that out, I mean?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "The spell version of it can work on other supernaturals, but this one does better with objects and people. It's not the Sight per se, but more of a 'this is tied to X realm, here's how much Potentia it has on board' sort of thing."

Kayle Sockum: "Oh nice." She smiles a little bit and leans back. "That's pretty damn great, if you can help them see things like that I wonder if they can learn new abilities from it, even if they're not like ours? I figure it can help."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Maybe. If anything I hope they'll find it interesting."

Kayle Sockum: "That'd be a start. I mean, if they get curious about things, that might spark something more. Maybe an awakening, maybe something else?" A nod "Who knows, in anyway, I'm hoping this goes great for you."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Nevy's already plenty curious." He said with a small smile. "Hope it does too. Will see what happens."

Kayle Sockum: "Hmm, do you want to prep something for dinner or should we order?" She asks, curious, looking around at the kitchen. "Because that's sort of the options, until I see Maddy again." a little laugh follows."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I was probably going to get into the last of the leftovers from going over to Polly's, unless you're wanting something other than Indian." He chuckled. "Still working on getting your kitchen privileges back, huh?"

Kayle Sockum: "Yep! I won't be helping out in Maddy's kitchen but hey! I'm trying to be a little better. Most Moros are at least a little good at making things, I figured I should at least make an actual effort." She grins proudly. "I made cookies for the first time... they were... not that good."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "As the line goes, sucking at something is the first step towards being sort of good at something." Jeremiah nodded with a smile. "Not that I can talk too much; I can handle the basics in the kitchen but that's about it unless I cheat."

Kayle Sockum: "Yeah, that's about where I'm aiming for. Plus, a few matter spells do better if I know what I'm making." a little laugh.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I can imagine. Not that I've really looked into it, mind; Matter and I don't quite mix."

Kayle Sockum: "Just like I'll need Mary's help for spirit things. Animism doesn't quite work well with Matter and Death." a little amused there.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmhmm. That's definitely one good thing about how we're set up; we cover each other's magical weak spots pretty well."

Kayle Sockum: "You know, eventually, when I have a bit of available magical bandwith, I might grab a bit of force, just to go for a one-time Undertaker vibe? With the gong and control over lightning and stuff."

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah paused for a moment, eyebrow arched as he puzzled over the reference. "Not recognizing that one off-hand."

Kayle Sockum: "A wrestler from WWE and before WWF." she nods a little "You can probably look up a few of the videos on youtube!" She explains with a little nod.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah...never got into wrestling, admittedly." He nodded, making a mental note. "I'm not sure what level of mastery you'd need for lightning, though...would have to ask Juno. I know I'll need to hit Apprentice for what I have in mind."

Kayle Sockum: "Juno would be a great teacher, Aaron might be able to help too." Kayla moves to show her phone screen to show a particular moment where the undertaker displays such an ability. "Here!"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "True..." Jeremiah looked towards the phone when it was offered, an eyebrow quirking upward as the star of the clip walked out. By the time it was done his head was firmly tilted to one side, his expression one of being both puzzled and intrigued. "...huh."

Kayle Sockum: "The commentary teams always tend to make those moments." A little chuckle follows and shrugs her shoulder. "My dad likes to watch it sometimes and I'd sit with him to watch it." A shrug.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Have to applaud the theatrical aspects of it, if anything." He nodded quietly. "Mine's more of a golf guy...that or tennis."

Kayle Sockum: "Oof." That earns a wince. "Are you on good term with him?" she asks with a little caution there, just in case it's a terribly sore spot.

Jeremiah Hamilton: For what it was worth he didn't seem perturbed by the question, shaking his head in response. "Not in the slightest. Haven't talked with either him or my mother since I was in California, and I'm perfectly fine with that."

Kayle Sockum: She slides off the seat she took earlier and moves to give Jay a hug there and smiles. "Alright!" a kiss on the cheek. "Grab your left overs, I'll grab myself something, we can go watch something or I can watch you work on something!"

Jeremiah Hamilton: He nodded with a smirk, returning the hug before going to retrieve the leftovers from the fridge. "Watching a movie or something sounds like an idea."
