These roles are adapted from Changeling: the Lost 1.0 and are subject to revision in play. Likewise, if you have a pitch for a job for your character, please contact staff! NPC Leadership is open to new ideas.

NPC Roles

  • Crown - The Crown will always be held by an NPC. The Autumn Crown is generally taken without ceremony, without fuss. When Buidhe steps up with a grand gesture, it's a signal that some great threat faces the Freehold, and that he plans to spend the season attending to it with all the vigor the Freehold can muster.

PC Roles

  • Witch of the Bitter Wind - The Witch of the Bitter Wind leads the Twilit Pages in advising and guiding the rest of the Freehold, both in ceremony and in Occult Knowledge. The Witch (the title is gender-neutral) visits members of the Freehold when High Autumn rises in a sort of cryptic census, aided by the Twilit Pages. It is a mark of standing within the Freehold to receive a visit directly from the Witch rather than from one of the pages. The Witch asks in the King's name on the matter of active pledges, Tokens owned, or Oaths bound to fulfill. Of course, many people do not tell the Witch the truth, and the Witch will very rarely press the issue: secrecy is treasured, and none know this better than the Leaden Mirror. Still, those who share with the Witch often find themselves gifted in return with knowledge on how to better manage a pending situation, or to best utilize a Contract. The Witch leads the Freehold in all of Autumn's ceremonies. Prerequisites: Occult 4 (Tokens, Oneiromancy, Oaths), Autumn Mantle 4.
    Current Witch: Alexis Sobel
  • Legate of Mists - Autumn has its Ambassadors, like any Court. The Legate of the Mist specializes in reaching out on matters occult and strange. When Hedge ghosts escape the thorns and rampage down Broad Street, it's the Legate of the Mists who makes the Consilium aware and asks for its help. The Legate must be capable of managing disparate personalities with care and grace; while other members of Autumn may be crude instruments of fear, the Legate must be (in most cities, anyway) as gentle as the Mists for which the position is named. Of course, this is Philly, so... Prerequisites: Persuasion (Diplomacy) 4, Socialize (Supernatural Societies) 3, Autumn Mantle 4.
    Current Legate: Patchie
  • Ghul - When Autumn needs to hunt down a Lost, or put down one of the Freehold's own, they call on the Ghul. Most of the time, however, the Ghul is responsible for coordinating with Summer on patrolling the Hedge near the Freehold, and leading the Rangers of the Thorns, as death is the last responsibility, and one the Freehold attempts to abstain from. Likewise, since that responsibility is a weighty one, keeping the Ghul grounded and humble is a priority. Prerequisites: Hedge Sense, Occult (Hedge Navigation, Oneiromancy) 3, Brawl or Weaponry 3, Persuasion (Leadership) 2, Autumn Mantle 4.
    Current Ghul: Liane Fuchs, Ulf
  • Scrivener - Autumn has books that need updating, and not the ones in the library. Autumns need paperwork taken care of, and they don't want to be beholden to other courts. Such was born the position of Scrivener, who functions both as a sort of quartermaster for the Autumn Court and a witness for Oaths, should a witness be desired. The Scrivener is expected to be able to negotiate at Goblin Markets, get someone Alternate Identity papers, and navigate intrafreehold politics. Likewise, the Scrivener has access to the Autumn Court's bail money, because Summer aren't the only people who get into trouble with the law. Prerequisites: Autumn Mantle 3, Market Sense, Allies (Legal) 2, Politics 2, Fixer
    Current Scrivener: Mearcstapa
  • Ranger of the Thorns - Many Autumn Courtiers hold this title; the Freehold sees it as a step up from the role of Twilit Page, and a path to other positions within the Court. Rangers are responsible for working with Summer under the direction of the Ghul in patrolling the nearby Hedge and working with the Witch of the Bitter Wind on matters oneiromantic. Some Autumn Courtiers choose to remain Rangers for the entirety of their lives, and this role is not seen as a 'lesser' role for those who do: a life spent in service to the many and varied needs of the Autumn Court is never wasted. Prerequisites: Autumn Mantle 2, Occult (Hedge Navigation) 2.
    Current Rangers: Vorpal, Bianca, Laura
  • Twilit Page - As soon as an Autumn Courtier swears their Oath to the Leaden Mirror, they are considered a Twilit Page until they take on the mantle of another role. Twilit Pages spend their time learning with all of the other positions within the Court and are advised to seek out all of the position-holders to learn and to advance. Some choose to remain Pages for an extended period, though this often confuses the rest of the Court: once a Page has learned all they can in this position, they are expected to move on and become a Ranger, to take on a more active role within the Court. This title may be bestowed as a courtesy on those of exceptionally high Autumn Goodwill, and in that case, it is simply meant as a compliment: the non-Autumn is not really a Twilit Page; it's a little like an Honorary Doctorate. No one expects someone who gets an honorary degree to start teaching classes, and no one expects a non-Autumn Page to do anything but be honored by the title, nor would that Page doing such a thing be welcome. Prerequisites: Autumn Mantle 1 or Autumn Goodwill 4.
    Current Autumn Pages: Rosalyn Solfrig
