Revision as of 01:28, 15 May 2021

These roles are adapted from Changeling: the Lost 1.0 and are subject to revision in play. Likewise, if you have a pitch for a job for your character, please contact staff! NPC Leadership is open to new ideas. Some positions adapted from Haunted Memories MUSH.

NPC Roles

  • Crown - The Crown will always be held by an NPC. Ari. The Spring Crown has been taken by the Vernal Sovereign with a huge celebration every year for the last century at least. A multi-day rager is certainly one way to celebrate the Wyrd and the actions of the Freehold having brought everyone in it safely to this season.

PC Roles

  • Sylvan Emissary - Spring spends a lot of time working with other supernatural societies, but they also spend a lot of time working with mortal groups as well. From the Arts Society to the local LGBTQ community, Sylvan Emissaries choose their area(s) of expertise, and serve as the point person after being confirmed by the Crown. Those who serve as Emissaries to other supernatural societies are exemplars of their Court, while those who work primarily with mortal groups may be younger members of the Court. Prerequisites (Supernatural Emissary): Spring Mantle 4, Socialize (Supernatural Societies) 3, Persuasion 3; Prerequisites (Mortal Emissary): Spring Mantle 3, Socialize (Relevant Group) 2, Persuasion 3
Current Emissaries: Jack Martingale (Unions, Head of Supernatural Society Diplomacy), Luci Firth (Vampires)
  • Mavens - Mavens represent the Court at local Goblin Markets. They must be savvy negotiators, able to drive hard bargains and not be taken for a ride by clever marketeers. Their representation of their Court at local Markets means they must be exemplary members of the Court. They speak for the Vernal Sovereign and are empowered to negotiate with the Crown's voice during High Spring. During all other times, they speak only for themselves, though their words are always taken seriously. They know what they're doing, after all.
Prerequisites: Market Sense, Persuasion 3, Subterfuge (Detect Lies) 3, Spring Mantle 4
    Current Mavens: Diesel
  • Vernal Advocate - Yeah, Springs get into trouble. That's why the Court has to appoint someone to get them back out again. The Vernal Advocate isn't always actually a lawyer, and there's sometimes more than one in a freehold. They have access to the Court's communal funds, law books, and any resources the Court can bring to bear in making certain that people who get into trouble get back out again (not that people can't just Portal their way out of immediate trouble, but legal records continue to exist).
Prerequisites: Spring Mantle 3, Politics 3, Academics (Legal) 3, Allies (Legal or Police) 2
    Current Vernal Advocate(s): Cedric Block
  • Claviger - The martial members of the Spring Court train to protect the Emissaries and Advocates while they go about their roles, as well as protecting the Vernal Sovereign. Clavigers need not be the greatest exemplars of their Court, but are the strongest martially within the Court. Likewise, the Clavigers are required to be able to adroitly navigate the Hedge in order to bring their charges safely home.
Prerequisites: Brawl or Weaponry 4 with 2 specialties, Hedge Sense, Occult (Hedge Navigation) 4, Spring Mantle 3
    Current Clavigers: Roswell Green
  • Joyeux - This position is a crucial one in the development of many Spring Courtiers in Philly: they are responsible not for their own desires but for the desires of others. They plan parties, yes, but they also spend time with people suffering from Clarity damage, acting as a sort of 'first aid for the soul.' This absolutely necessary activity has them searching out people's Touchstones when those suffering are too far gone to be able to bring those Touchstones to themselves. That this gives them critical insight into how people in the Freehold tick also means that the Joyeux are a crucial part of Freehold security: while destroying someone's Touchstones is unsavory, it's definitely a way to render an opponent unable to fight back.
Prerequisites: Spring Mantle 3, Empathy 2, Persuasion 1
Current Joyeux: Eugene Moon, Jack Martingale, Petra Fichette, Ziv
  • Sunrise Page - From the moment that someone swears to the Spring Court until the time that they take on another position, they are considered a Sunrise Page. The Sunrise Pages assist all the other positions in the Spring Court with their jobs, and everyone is expected to move on to another job before too long. Whatever 'too long' means.
    Prerequisites: Spring Mantle 1
    Current Sunrise Pages: Rhapsody, Spicy
