General Information

 Parent Clan/Covenant: Nosferatu

 Nicknames: Boyars

Source: Bloodlines: The Chosen, p. 105

Disciplines: Obfuscate, Nightmare, Vigor and Dominate

Bloodline Gift

Some call this stubbornness. The Yagnatia call it stoicism. Whatever the case, the Yagnatia were born weathering a storm, and they are highly resistant to mental compulsion. They enjoy a +2 bonus to any rolls to contest any form of supernatural mental compulsion (e.g., Dominate, Majesty, Nightmare, Obfuscate, some Devotions). If the roll is resisted, the Boyar’s resistance trait is considered 2 higher. They also enjoy the same bonus to any rolls to contest another vampire’s attempt to Lash Out. This bonus may stack with other powers or Merits.

This bonus does not apply for powers used by the Boyar’s sire, or any Kindred that holds the Boyar in any level of blood bind.

Bloodline Bane

The blood of the Yagnatia is weak. The witches that cursed the Bloodline’s founder made sure of this. The Yagnatia is unable to sire a childe without the aid of a long, complicated Cruac ritual. In addition to this, all blood bonds are considered one level lower (and, appropriately, stage one blood bonds will appear to fail to manifest completely).

The exception to this weakness if found in the childer of the Yagnatia. The ritual required to allow the siring of a childe supercharges the vitae of the sire. All Boyars start with a level two blood bond to their sire, and this blood bond does not suffer from the above weakened curse. Further, this blood bond does not fade, regardless of the years that have passed, and the bond cannot be removed by any source, magical or otherwise.

Of course, being eternally bound to your sire causes some Yagnatia to simply kill their sire. It is, after all, the only way to be truly free. Fratricide, however, carries it’s own curse. When the bond between sire and childe snaps, the childe’s soul is forever tainted. It’s a subtle thing, undetectable to anyone outside of the line. To those within the Bloodline, however, it stands out so terribly clear, an aura of treachery or failure. This aura empowers the other Boyar. Any Yagnatia that attempts to track, manipulate, or harm another Yagnatia that lacks a sire receives +2 to their efforts. This effect happens whenever a Yagnatia lacks a sire - even if they are not responsible for the Sire’s death.

Devotions

Blissful Irrelevance (Obfuscate ••, Dominate ••)

Most Haunts are masters of slipping through the cracks of one’s awareness, remaining unseen until they wish otherwise. Yagnatia, quite the contrary, have all the desire to be heard and obeyed. It is some other vampires that don’t quite get this message, and when a Boyar has had enough she can make a rival simply irrelevant with a single touch.

 Cost: 1 Vitae

Dice Pool: Manipulation + Subterfuge + Obfuscate vs. Composure + Blood Potency

 Action: Instant

 Failure: Nothing happens.

Success: For the remainder of the scene everything the victim says or does feels less interesting, more mundane. Ideas sound dour, seductive glances of poor taste and threats completely hollow. The victim subtracts the Yagnatia’s Blood Potency score from all her mundane Social rolls.

Exceptional Success: All of the target's Social actions that net no successes are dramatic failures.

This Devotion costs 2 Experiences.

Checkmate (Dominate ••, Nightmare ••)

Unlike other Haunts the Yagnatia realize that to win in the political sphere one must know timing. Checkmate allows a Yagnatia to imprint a use of the Nightmare Discipline into a target to flare full force at a later time, at the Nosferatu’s discretion.

 Cost: 1 Vitae

 Dice Pool: None

 Action: Instant

The Yagnatia curses someone with Checkmate, picking one of her Nightmare powers. The Boyar can then delay the effect chosen for a number of nights equal to her Blood Potency, so that it flares up according to a specific event or on command, if the Haunt is within line of sight of her victim. Any cost in vitae or willpower must be paid by the Yagnatia, who only then rolls to activate the Discipline. If time passes, and Checkmate doesn’t come into play, that use of Nightmare dissipates.

This Devotion costs 2 Experiences.

Fear of Failure (Dominate ••, Vigor ••)

Nothing frightens the Yagnatia like their own failure. Instead of letting this cripple them, they’ve let it drive them to become stronger and greater. Through sheer will – some would call it stubbornness – a Boyar may resist another’s attempts to influence them. If a Boyar fails a contested roll to resist supernatural compulsion, he may spend 1 Vitae to re-roll his dice. Those dice do not have the 10-again quality, unless the Boyar also spends a Willpower point (which does not provide additional dice to the roll). The vampire must accept this new roll, and this power may only be used once per roll.

This Devotion costs 2 Experiences.

Fear of God (Dominate ••, Nightmare ••)

Power does not always come by the sword and rifle. Sometimes, a much subtler touch is required. As the Yagnatia are born to the subtle manipulations and grooming of overbearing Nosferatu sires, it did not take them long to adapt the well known Wet Dream devotion to suit their Nosferatu heritage.

After applying this power, the victim will experience a terrible night’s sleep, full of pointed dreams. It does not matter if the target has parents, Sire, or a belief in God; the subject will awaken the next morning feeling worthless and paranoid, as if whatever it is above them disapproves in their very existence.

 Cost: 1 Vitae

Dice Pool: Intelligence + Intimidation + Dominate vs. Resolve + Blood Potency

 Action: Instant

Success: If successful, this Devotion takes effect when next the victim sleeps. His frightening and intimidating dreams cause the both the Humbled and Spooked Conditions (V:tR 2e, pp. 304-305). The vampire chooses the subject of both Conditions. The victim sheds each Condition individually. However, the two Conditions only give one Beat, and only once they’re both resolved.

This Devotion costs 2 Experiences.
