Changeling/Approval Procedures

These are the approval procedures for the Changeling sphere on From Dusk Till Jawn.

Background Review

1. It is permissible for a background to be as short as a handful of bullet points as long as the following items are covered:
   1. Where the character was born and grew up
   2. Durance Details:
      1. The age of the character when they were taken
      2. How and why the character was Taken
      3. the identity of the Gentry and the role the character played in Arcadia
   3. Gentry Writeups
      1. Please encourage use of local Gentry when possible, and if not using an existing Gentry, a Gentry writeup is required.
      2. If someone doesn't want to write up a Gentry, that's totally fine -- they can use an existing Gentry! That is encouraged!
      3. Review Gentry writeups to ensure Gentry, Loyalists, etc. match 2.0 rules:
      4. Gentry don't leave Arcadia except under extreme duress, they don't have standing armies of Loyalists.
      5. Each Gentry should have no more than three titles.
   4. The means and instigating memory of their escape:
      1. what did they remember that caused them to try to escape?
      2. Did they escape on their own? Were they discarded by their Gentry?
   5. How did the character join their Court? Is it the first Court they joined?
      1. If the character was previously part of another Court, they either need to buy Goodwill or justify why they don't have it.
      2. We do not use any regional courts, so references to anything but Seasonals should not be in a background. :D
   6. Are any Tokens, Hedgespun, or other magical items explained?
      1. Justification is not required per se, but we need to know where the items come from.
      2. Did the character inherit the item, create it, etc.?
   7. Is the Safe Place sheet attached for any Safe Places or Hollows?

Sheet Review

1. Mantle and Goodwill are capped at 3.
   1. No justification is required for Mantle or Goodwill up to 3 at character creation.
2. Purchase of Out-of-Seeming Contract Clauses is only permitted at character creation if the character is doing a Pupil's Oath with a setting NPC, that is, one of the From Dusk Till Jawn staff-controlled NPCs from Shackamaxon Freehold, or if the character is doing a Pupil's Oath with another PC.
   1. Pupil's Oath must be noted on the sheet -- who with, terms, when sworn.
3. Check the math on the sheet.
   1. Don't forget that Out of Seeming Clauses cost 1 XP!
   2. 2.0 has flat costs.
4. Check Willpower, Defense, Clarity.
   1. Remember! 2.0 Clarity is Wits + Composure -- it is not a flat 7 to start!
5. Review any Tokens, Hedgespun
   1. Hedgespun must follow 2.0 rules, there are limited changes available
   2. All Custom Tokens must be approved by Spider
6. Review mundane equipment
   1. All custom mundane items subject to review and must meet custom item guide standards.

Finishing Steps

1. A basic wiki is mandatory for approval.
2. A basic wiki is defined as containing the following information:
   1. Name (whatever name or names other characters will call them)
   2. Court (and dots of Mantle)
   3. Categories set for Court, Seeming, and Kith, so the page populates in all the right places
   4. Please make sure they haven't copied the template from the NPC page -- that's only used for NPCs.
   5. Any easily-seen/understood/noticeable merits/effects (Rigid Mask, Gentrified Bearing, etc. -- if you can see its effects when you look at a character or if they affect most/all interactions, it should be on the wiki. We don't need someone's Resources 5 on there, but we DO need stuff that other characters will easily notice.)
   6. Brief description of Mask, Mien, and Mantle
   7. 3 RP Hooks. They don't have to be much, but they should be SOMETHING for other players to say 'ahha, we can RP together because you sometimes hang out at Bob's Bar/you're from New York and I was once there'
   8. Freehold position. EVERYONE who is a member of a Court is at least a Page of their Court. The only people who should not have a Freehold position listed are Courtless.
   9. If someone is playing a Courtless, please make sure they are aware that they have one Season to pick a Court or the character will be ejected from Philadelphia and become unplayable. Ask them to note that they understand this in their approval request ticket, if they have not already.
   10. If someone has Goblin Contracts, please ask them to note in their approval request ticket that they have read the section on Goblin Debt and understand the consequences for using Goblin Contracts without paying off your Goblin Debt.
3. If your PC has a Safe Place or Hollow, complete the Safe Place sheet located here.
4. Once the sheet is ready, make a copy of the sheet to the FDTJ Google account
