Hedgespinning A Hollow or Trod

The Hedge gets to push back, so doing this should be done on-screen. If you/your motley has a Stable Trod or Hollow that was purchased after character creation, congratulations! You have the makings of a plot. You can run this for yourselves as a PrP or ask another player storyteller to do so. Since there are not really any guidelines for what it takes to make a Hollow per se, here are guidelines. If these look like high numbers, they are -- making these permanent features is a lot of dangerous work, and that's why it's normally undertaken as a motley.

Hedgespinning a Hollow

  • Base successes required per level of Hollow: 10
  • Adding a feature to a Hollow, regardless of number of dots of feature: 9 (this is from the book)
  • Can you start a Hollow small and upgrade it later: yes
  • Can you start a Hollow without features and add them later: yes
  • Do you get Beats for scenes run to create Hollows: yes, it's a storytold scene
  • Do I need to submit my rolls to staff to prove I got the right number of successes: No, we trust you, and we can check the roller later if we need to

Hedgespinning a Trod

  • Base successes required per dot of Stable Trod: 10
  • Where do I find the rules for trods? p 201/202
  • So a 5 dot Trod links any two places in the world? Only if it's barely maintained. A well-maintained 5-dot Stable Trod devotes 2 dots to maintenance and 3 dots to length.
