Soulwardens Sanctum

Log

Jeremiah Hamilton: It was a quiet afternoon in the Soulwarden sanctum, the faint smell of newly-brewed coffee in the air if one drifted past the kitchen. Not too far along the hallway a casually-dressed Jeremiah had laid claim to one of the couches in the parlor, a set of headphones in and his gaze turned upward as he listened to whatever was playing.

Kayla Sockum: Kay climbs out from the sanctum area, gray sweatpants and a form fitting yellow t-shirt, she's bare feet and her toenails are painted pink, her hair is loose, free and slightly curly, likely from the braid she had on the day before. She goes in the kitchen to claim a cup of said coffee and then proceed to plops down next to Jay on the couch, giving him a little wave of greeting and a warm smile. "Hi, what are you listening to?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah gave Kay a smile as she claimed a seat next to him, pulling one ear bud out as to be polite. As she got close the hum of active magic was noticeable in the air about the Mastigos. "Hey. One of my older compositions, nothing too fancy. Trying something out, so I figured using something familiar as a baseline would be a good idea."

Kayla Sockum: "Trying to do a trance remix of something?" Kay asks, bringing her legs under herself and then sipping her coffee. "Or something different than that?" another sip. "By the way, did you make that coffee?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Something different, although that's not a half-bad idea..." he stuck a pin in that thought before it ran off on him, nodding at the question that followed. "I did, yeah, before I came in here."

"Have you ever heard of synesthesia before?"

Kayla Sockum: "I know I heard the word before, but I might need a refresher on the full meaning of it." Kay sips more coffee. "And thank you for the coffee." she offers a smile and set the cup on the nearest flat, acceptable surface.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Welcome." Said flat surface happened to be near where his own cup was sitting, recently poured by all telling judging by the wisp of steam coming off of the coffee within. The Mastigos finally moved to sit up, tapping the earbud still in place to pause the music and setting them both aside for the moment. "In broader terms it's when the streams get crossed on a sensory level; sounds or words triggering a certain color or shape, that sort of thing. Polly has it for sounds and colors, and I wanted to get a feel for what she might see listening to music so I can use the right palette, as it were."

Kayla Sockum: "Would you need a bit of life magic help for that? Or like drugs?" Kay asks, curious, leaning her head into her hand, smiling. "I know that sort of things happens when you're under the influence of some specific stuff." She seems to recall, tapping her fingers on her knees. "Or do you have some kind of mind powers that help with it?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I used a bit of Mind for it, yeah." He nodded, smiling a touch. "With Forces I can see the pitch and tone and whatnot, but this is different in an interesting way."

Kayla Sockum: "Nice, many ways to achieve the same goal." Kay resume her coffee drinking and then procceeds to stretches her arms out. "What does it sound like right now? Can I have a listen?" she roll her wrist out a little bit.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sure." He grabbed his phone and took a moment to unsync the headphones and hit play again, queuing up a piano piece that she had likely heard being played over the speakers at the cafe before. "Wrote that not too long after I Awoke in LA. It's a little rough in spots but not too bad."

Kayla Sockum: "That sounds pretty damn nice." She leans back into the couch and she looks upward to the ceiling too, tilting her head to the side, popping her knuckles a little bit. "I like the sounds you come up with in your song." she reaches to bump her fist to his shoulder.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Thanks." He said with a small smile, offering his hand for a fist-bump back. "The muses are kind some days and give me something to work with."

Kayla Sockum: Kay nods and then reaches for something that seem to be on the ground next to the couch and it's a small plastic container with a various set of nuts inside. "Want some?" she offers, speaking low not to cover the sound of the music. "unsalted."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sure." He held out a hand for her to pour the nuts into. "How are things going on your end?"

Kayla Sockum: "They're going, I've been slowly working on visiting the astral in short, safe burst." She points toward the door that leads to the hallow. "Help discover some stuff about yourself."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Good stuff." He spared a glance towards said door, smirking a touch. "I haven't gone back since we went in to get Alexis' fruit from the tree. Those trips across messed me up, not going to lie."

Kayla Sockum: "Yeah, lots of stuff that's hard to look at. The place doesn't hold back." A beat. "Been exploring the Children's lodge by being super small." she chuckles. "Fox and I found the source of a draft."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Was more an issue of not seeing anything, in my case. Not sure if it was from the stone that Balm let us use to jump back to where it was set up, but the trip across was just...nothingness." A brief shudder ran down his spine at the thought, the memory of that moment still far too clear. "Felt like I was stuck out there forever at one point."

"Oh?" He perked up as she continued, a smile banishing the dour moment that followed. "Rock on. I still love that you can do that."

Kayla Sockum: "Hug?" She offers when she notices the shiver and discomfort the topic has brought on, her arms opening to illustrate the suggestion. "It's been illuminating in a lot of ways." she grins brightly. "A change in perspective I didn't know would have this much effect."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Hug." He nodded firmly, sliding over to take advantage of Kay's open arms. "I bet. Wouldn't mind learning that one myself, my issues with Matter aside."

Kayla Sockum: "Disciplehood in both Matter and Life is required. If you only use matter, it's only for like, objects." She comments and squeezes him into the hug as hard as she can, which is just a regular level of strength.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "You mentioned that before, yeah. It's just rougher for me to pick up Matter in general."

Kayla Sockum: "When so much of the magic is intangible, It's not surprising." A shrug, another squeeze of the hug. "Is there anything else you'd like to learn how to do specifically?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "A few things, honestly. I'm working towards Disciple levels in Forces at the moment, but after that it's pretty open. Could keep pushing towards Mind Mastery, start looking into Life for my legacy...lot of options."

Kayla Sockum: "How high do you have to be with Forces to be like in star wars and do the lightning thing the emperor did?" Kay asks with a little tilt of her head. "I'm guessing something like either disciple or adept?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Adept if you're going full Palpatine, Disciple if you're calling a bolt down from a storm that's already around." He said with a smirk. "The telekinetic stuff comes in at Disciple, though, so you get that part of the Jedi package earlier."

Kayla Sockum: "Nice. I already know a bit of prime so." She nods "I could do a bit of the sensing stuff." she wiggle her fingers. "I don't think I'll go that far either way, not until I decided to just Master in Everything."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "That would be damn impressive." He chuckled. "I wonder sometimes if I jumped around too much on that front, what with all the Masters we have around here. Once I get Forces handled I'll be a fourth-degree Disciple."

Kayla Sockum: "Which is super impressive, that opens a lot of doors!" Kay makes a wide gesture with her arms, smiling gently.

"I bet you could teach a lot of people with that."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "True." He smiled a bit at that. "It's a good foundation to build up from, at the very least."

Kayla Sockum: "Do you ever think about maybe pushing your understanding like, to archmastery?" She tilt her head. "Like, It's crossed my mind a few times, but I'm... not sure I comprehend the scope of it just yet."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not really, if only because I know I'm nowhere near that level yet. Would need to strengthen my connection to the tower a lot more to even think about it."

Kayla Sockum: "Yeah I'm feeling the pull slowly happening, so it's a floating thoughts from time to time." A shrug. "I'm sure life will hit me in the face with what I need to do when it happens." she pokes at Jay again. "On a more mundane concern, food. Do you have any plan for dinner?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "That's kind of my thought on it at the moment; if it happens it happens, but there's enough ground-level stuff to work on in the meantime." He smirked at the poke, giving her a light nudge with his elbow in return. "I do not, no. Have something in mind?"

Kayla Sockum: "Maybe we should team-up to cook something?" A shrug of her shoulders. "Something simple, obviously, like pasta or something like that? Or we could do something else if you'd prefer, gotta work not to lose my cooking skills, meager as they are."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sounds like a plan. We've both got enough of the basics down that I think we can manage."

Kayla Sockum: "Screen fades to black, 2 hours later mention and we're fighting a spaghetti monster from invading the hallow." Kay joke, standing up from the couch and offering a hand to help Jay do the same.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Pretty sure Heather would kill us..." he replied with a chuckle, taking the offered hand up. "Assuming it doesn't beforehand, anyway."
