Log

Anneliese is once again sitting on one of the benches scattered around the Spring hollow, idly alternating between playing her violin for a few moments and making notes on her phone. She has a special app for staff paper now, which helps.

Jack's in Work Mode when he strides in, his attention focused on any free place to sit down and Get Shit Done. So it takes him a bit to actually realize there's anyone else in here. It's not until he's flopped on the ground next to a bench, spreading text-filled pages across it to look at and make notes on, that he looks up to see Annie a few feet away. His mien twitches, charcoal lines fluttering for a moment when he sees her, before he returns to his task at hand.

Having also been in Work Mode, Anneliese doesn't realise Jack is there until she pauses her playing for a moment and switches focus to her phone. Then she jumps. "When did you get here?" She asks, startlement obvious in her tone.

"Uh...couple minutes ago?" He frowns slightly. "Didn't know you played." He gestures to her violin. Despite his conversation starter, his voice sounds a little...flat. Emotionless.

"I do, yes. Not for a while, of course." The meaning behind that should be fairly clear, given them both being Changelings. "But I have been trying to get back into doing it regularly." She's curious about the flatness in his voice, but not sure if its something she should ask about.

"Mmph." He nods once, then returns to his work. It's...right on the edge of rudeness. Definitely leaning toward passive aggressive. 'Cause why ask the question if he's so not interested in hearing the answer?

Her violin and bow get put away, then the instrument case closed with a crisp click. "Is there something you want to say, Jack?" Anneliese's tone is ...not angry per se, but definitely somewhat chilly.

"...Yeah, actually." He sits up to meet her gaze. "Why the fuck did you seal that pledge with my sss-sibling?"

Really? He's upset about a little thing like that?

"..." Anneliese arches one eyebrow. "Why would I not seal a pledge to keep my girlfriend safe? Do you have so little faith in Jane's ability to do so?" Yeah, she's definitely picked up on that stutter before sibling, and made an educated guess as to its meaning.

"Yeah I've got plenty faith in 'em, enough that I don't gotta waste Glamour making sure they keep their word. Especially given that I look like this," he gestures at his changeling-ness, irritated, "and they don't know fuckall about it."

"Be glad you still get to hide things from your sibling, Jack. Some of us did not even get to bury ours." Her tone has gone from chilly to ice-cold. "And do you truly expect me to believe that you would not seal a pledge if it were, say, Michael's brother promising to keep Lux safe?"

"Yeah, and that's why I don't want people fucking with their ability to do things like stay alive." He keeps his voice in check, barely. "Why don't you keep your girlfriend safe yourself?"

"When was I supposed to learn how? Before I was taken, when I was not allowed anything more than a belt knife? During the centuries I spent sitting on a rock, singing?" Anneliese laughs bitterly. "And even if I had that skill, how could I keep her from going into danger while still attending medical school?"

"I dunno your life, Annie, but holding my sibling to shit like that doesn't seem like the right way to go." He huffs. "'S just a shitty thing to do."

"What, a promise that they willingly made?" She stares him straight in the eye. "I did not trick Jane into it, and nor did I seal something that they would not have meant to follow through on."

"Right, and if they somehow can't follow through, the Wyrd's not gonna fucking care. There's absolutely shit that Jane's not gonna be able to protect your girlfriend from - fuck, any one of us and they'd be in over their head."

"I am not going to free them from their promise." She holds up a hand to prevent him interrupting. "But if that happens, I promise that I will treat their wounds myself." Anneliese's tone is firm. "We both know they are already aware of the supernatural, if not of our hidden natures."

"I'm gonna hold you to that." Jack makes hard eye contact with her and his mantle flares, the metallic tang of blood nearly overpowering the otherwise fresh scent of an oncoming rainstorm.

"...I'm gonna go." He begins to gather up his things, his mien flickering and scattering bits of charcoal around him as he moves.

Anneliese nods. "I would expect you to do nothing less." She allows the Sealing to settle on her, acknowledging that she has freely chosen to be bound by it.
