Cian,

I find myself looking out towards the sea and thinking of you. What might you be doing this fine evening?"

Signed, Jasper

How poetic. How do the lights of New Jersey look, this evening? I finished a meeting with some associates some time ago, and have been spending my time buried in research.

-C

Cian,

Slightly misty. I think it's likely to be a smog-filled morning. But if it weren't for some particularly strong senses, one could be lost in it.

Am I drawing your attention too much from your research?

Signed, Jasper

I would not reply if you were a distraction. Did you have a reason for contacting me, besides to tell me you were thinking of me?

-C

Cian,

Do I need more reason than that?

Signed, Jasper

I suppose you don't. How have you been spending your evenings, when you aren't thinking of me?

-C

Cian,

I've been casually getting to know some of the fairies. Finding out how they taste. I've also been trying out those video games and learning through the eyes of young Finley Adams. They're quite the mind.

And, of course, walking through memory lane.

What do you do when not smiling at your phone because I texted you?

Signed, Jasper

Cian,

Perhaps it is a flight of fancy to think I might bring a smile to your face just from reaching out. Something makes me want to think it's possible. Or perhaps maybe I just want to see your smile.

Signed, Jasper

How do they taste?

Finley is a rare and brilliant thing, zhe is worth getting to know.

I will chalk it up to your nature that you have divined that I smile when I see your name lights up my phone. It is a welcome departure from my coworkers or my boss.

-C

Cian,

Like all, very different. One is a touch of the predator underneath. All static and confusion with maddening frequency. Another? Like the find dust of charcoal barely gracing the outline of typical vitae.

Many Mekhet are known to be oracular. I've still not developed that skill as effortlessly as some. Even as some kine.

You are fond of Finley?

Signed, Jasper

I have become quite fond, yes. I helped them out of some trouble, and I suppose I feel the need to look out for them. They were so mistreated.

-C

Cian,

Funny you should say that. What sort of trouble did you get them out of, I wonder?

Signed, Jasper

That is not my story to tell, you might ask them some time. Why is it funny?

-C

Cian,

I've offered to take them under my wing, should they wish. They clearly could use a sire figure.

Do you have any childer?

Signed, Jasper

I do not. And do not plan to, to be quite honest. Do you?

-C

Cian,

Six.

Your statement sounds as if it echoes with something stronger. Might I ask why's informed your hard line on it?

Signed, Jasper

I do not see the need for there to be more of us, and I have no need of the sort of responsibility required.

-C

Cian,

Have you ever been in love?

Signed, Jasper

No.

-C

Cian,

Never? That's a shame.

Have you ever been in a bond?

Signed, Jasper

Yes.

-C

Cian,

Was it a good or a bad bond?

Signed, Jasper

Are not all bonds 'good' by nature of how they make us feel?

-C

I do not wish to discuss it further.

-C

Cian,

The sarcasm was not expected. I seem to have struck a wound. I apologize.

Do you often feel the sympathies of family?

Signed, Jasper

How do you mean?

-C

Cian,

I am perhaps unique in my blood sympathy strength now that much of my line is gone, but with every emotional moment, there's a chance of it reverberating within me. The Mekhet I feel the strongest, but they are not even the only ones.

Are you similarly sensitive? Do you have remaining sires in your line? Cousins of the blood that you can feel connected with?

Signed, Jasper

Distantly. I feel the connection occasionally, but nothing strong. My sire met her Final Death before she Embraced anyone but me, as far as I have been able to learn.

-C

Cian,

I find it one of the things that can even rouse from torpor. To feel something so strong, so important. Even to be able to communicate to others no matter the distance. Such is a wonderful trick.

Are you lonely?

Signed, Jasper

I do not think of myself as lonely. I prefer to spend most of my time alone.

-C

Cian,

Because you cannot find good company? Right now, I could use some myself.

Signed, Jasper

Because I do not tend to seek out the company of others.

Right now, at this present moment? Or right now as a generalization about the loneliness in your own life?

-C

Cian,

Take your pick. It is the sort of night where one can get lost to the fog of ages.

Signed, Jasper

The fog of ages, or the fog of New Jersey? Or both?

-C

Cian,

Are they not one and the same in some cases?

Signed, Jasper

I confess you made me laugh.

Where are you tonight, looking out toward the sea and thinking of me?

-C

Cian,

A rooftop I know. Atop a hostel.

Signed, Jasper

Do you spend much time on rooftops?

-C

Cian,

Plenty. I admit I used to envy those of the serpents and haunts for their ability to scale buildings with a single bound, but once you're up here, you can see both the old and the new.

Perhaps like your crow's nest with more pollution?

Signed, Jasper

There's plenty of pollution in a harbor.

You said you could use company. Was that an offer?

-C

I find myself drawn to the idea.

-C

Cian,

You may join me here, at one of the places that I find myself drawn inexplicably to, if tomorrow night, you take me sailing.

Do we have a deal?

Signed, Jasper

That is more than equitable, considering I had planned to inquire as to your availability tomorrow evening anyway.

What is the address?

-C

Cian,

17 North 2nd St. You're looking for City House Hostel. Just walk past the attendant. They don't care. I've already unlocked the roof access.

Signed, Jasper

We are within walking distance. I won't be long.
