Log

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 9:44 PM Fiadh is sitting on the couch at one end, a large glass of wine in one hand, a joint in the other. There seems to be some sort of odd fur blanket covering the arm of it. Fi herself is wearing a pair of large sunglasses. One leg is crossed over the other, and the foot is tapping in the air, maybe a nervous gesture?

Darren LynchYesterday at 9:47 PM Darren had been working, something came up earlier when he and Jolene were at the gallery and he hadn't been heard from for a few hours, not entirely unusual. He opened the door of the gallery and stepped in. "Fiadh?" using her full name, his tone skeptical of what it is he would yell at her for.

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 9:49 PM She looks over at him and sets the glass down, and puts the joint out, but she doesn't get up. "I'm over 'ere, Cash." A flutter of wings can be heart up near the ceiling, on one of the rafters.

JoleneYesterday at 9:50 PM She was a few minutes behind, despite having a car she rarely used it and relied largely on car services to get around. She didn't know what yelling might happen and certainly didn't think she'd keep it from happening, but she walked in not long behind Darren, dressed as usual, jeans, her jacket, a shirt. She doesn't say anything, not yet. Just waiting, just listening.

Darren LynchYesterday at 9:52 PM Darren glanced back at Jolene as she came in and then back to Fi, "Wha--" looking up into the rafters at the sound of birds and back to her. "..... Fi?" he asked by way of explanation, obviously he'd been in the middle of something important but had dropped it to answer her call.

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 9:56 PM Fiadh looks up at Darren...and takes off the sunglasses. Teal eyes shine in the light, more than they should. "Cash...what the fecking hell is going on?"

JoleneYesterday at 9:57 PM "Fuck." She hissed the word, her lips pulling into a frown. Her arms folding over her chest.

Darren LynchYesterday at 9:59 PM Darren stared at her, eyes narrowing gently. He'd walk over towards her directly, a pace that said he might hit her actually, but instead he grabbed her by the chin and looked down at her eyes. Like an irritated parent checking their kid for drug use. "......what's 'appened?" he had his fears already, but who knew? Maybe this was Awakening.

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 10:05 PM She doesn't shrink away at him, he'd do many things but she'd never be scared he'd hurt her. She looks into his eyes, very confused. "I woke up like this...and Nemain up there seems to have come in through the skylight." She glances over at Jolene, looking at her eyes, then back up at Darren's. "I...I know I should have probably told you earlier but I was..." She trails off. "I thought I'd maybe gone a bit mad."

JoleneYesterday at 10:07 PM She slowly eased closer, then looked up to the rafters, giving a little chuff of sound, before looking back to Fi. "....any major incidents with wolves or spirits lately Fi?" Her voice was a touch terse, there was a gravity to her words.(edited)

Darren LynchYesterday at 10:08 PM He was frowning gently, though his gaze lifted and rose to the bird above them and then he looked back to her. "What happened?" Not believing she just woke up that way. Something had to have happened. "You 'ave any idea what this means? Fiadh MacKenna, you do not want this, I am tellin' you now." Darren was vibrating with tension and realized he should let her go, dropping his hand away.

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 10:12 PM She thinks for a moment, and shakes her head. "I mean...nothing other than the...well I did change Killy's luck...but that was days ago...and he didn't you know...wolf out or whatever it's called." She looks up at Darren in exasperation. "I didn't ask for it either, Darren Lynch!" If he's gonna full name so is she. "What do ye think I did, go and ask for it? I didn't even know it was possible!"

JoleneYesterday at 10:14 PM Her jaw was grinding as she eyed the girl "...it's not good...this isn't the city or the time for it Darren..." She was starting to pace, and she seemed.....angry. Of all things. But then, Jo secretly had a reservoir of anger that was always trying to sneak out, so maybe that was no surprise.

Darren LynchYesterday at 10:17 PM He wiped his hand down his face and took a slow even breath. ".....I can't protect you now, Fi. You realize that don' you? Your father put me in charge of you with my life, and now I 'ave far less of a chance of actually keepin' you safe?" he took a sharp breath in and looked back at her. "It's nothin' you did, but this should not be taken lightly..." He looked up again at the bird, "The fuck is he?" an edge of anger to his voice he rarely let slip.

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 10:21 PM "What part of me being too bloody freaked out to leave today makes you think I'm taking this lightly, Cash? What was I supposed to do, go out and show every bleeding person I know? You two are the only two that know." She looks up at the crow. "A crow. Seems to have taken to me. I must have left the skylight open last night."

JoleneYesterday at 10:24 PM She slowly exhaled "So, your eyes can see, and you have a crow hanging 'bout." she sighed and looked to Darren "...her dad in the know? You can't keep your word when she's like this....she's going to need more than you can do." Of course he knew that. Running the tip of her tongue over a canine.

Ruairi ByrneYesterday at 10:24 PM He had every intention on just dropping by, and well.. checking in on what was goind down via txt. He bothered to stop for food (donuts to be specific, with chocolate) because food has a way of calming most people. So he came in, whistling as he carried a box of two dozen, completely aware of the tension in the air.

Darren LynchYesterday at 10:28 PM Darren was still studying the crow and then closed his eyes and thought for a moment. "I don' know...." his voice quiet. Turning as Ruairi entered, he looked between the three of them and frowned. "....fuck," he hissed. "She's right. Course she's right. Fi, does your dad know? About wolves? He must.. he's best friends with Connall."

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 10:31 PM "He doesn't know everything but he does know most of it. He most certainly doesn't know about this. I've had me Da's boys building me a new place..." She gestures at the shelves. "Hidden door, and all. I called and told them not to come today." She wraps her arms around her waist. "That's not a real crow, is it." Her voice is quiet.

Ruairi ByrneYesterday at 10:33 PM He casually walked over to sit the box down within reach and open it up slowly, as if he were presenting an engagement ring. Glazed donuts, chocolate donuts, custard filled, and so on, packed into the box.

JoleneYesterday at 10:34 PM She looked towards Darren "If he knows he'll understand...if he doesn't, we have a problem." Looking back to Fi "You put a foot in a world, that isn't hospitable Fi...keeping you safe, it's..." she shook her head and turned to Ruairi, the box, and without a word, walked to the box, opened it, snatched a donut, and then as if remembering herself. "Gratitude." She offered the word, heavily accented with her first tongue, it wasn't exactly the right words, but it'd do.

Darren LynchYesterday at 10:39 PM It had been hard enough to worry simply over Jolene, but now his hands were fuller than ever. "I'll call Connall. He can break the fuckin' news." he growled. "First thin's first, do not engage with anything that doesn't look correct. You're seein' spirits now and they do not give a fuck about you. They do not have emotions or motive save for staying alive and getting more essence. Do not let them fool you. Stay away from downtown entirely. It's fucked with magath and corruption. Stay away from Bancroft entirely. It's a festerin' wound and it'll get you killed." he licked his bottom lip and looked back at her as if she were somehow on the other side of the glass now. As if there was little he could do and he'd have to watch this play out.

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 10:42 PM She closes her eyes for a moment, takes a deep breath. She then opens them to look up at Ru. "Thank you." She picks out a donut and then looks over at Jolene, a little bit of anger in her tone as she speaks. "You act as if I did this on purpose! I thought you were born the way you are, none of you told me this might just happen!" She looks up at Darren and nods up at the crow. "That one I think is friendly. But I will try to avoid any others."

JoleneYesterday at 10:45 PM She turned her eyes back to Fi "Sometimes there are catalysts....usually if you've been exposed to something in our world...." Running her tongue over her teeth "And Fi....he's not making suggestions, those places...don't go, they can get you killed. Are LIKELY to get you killed. The Spirits...ignore them as much as possible, they're more trouble than you know..." She took a couple deep breaths and a bite of donut which was definitely not training food.

Ruairi ByrneYesterday at 10:48 PM He grabbed a custard filled one for himself and began to eat it, nodding at the thanks offered. Ru looked between them curiously as they spoke, taking in the conversation.

Darren LynchYesterday at 10:48 PM "We were born this way. This doesn't 'appen often." he said, "Jo's not acting like anythin'. Your life expectancy just went down by 40 years Fi, we're worried. We 'aven't even gone into the Pure or the Lunes or ghosts or..." he glanced at Ruairi and the donuts. Perhaps keeping her calm was a better idea than riling her up. "You get along with Killy, Fi? It might be a good idea to get a lot friendlier."(edited)

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 10:52 PM She nibbles the donut. "It gets worse..." The next words are so quiet they're almost silent. "The luck's gone. All of it."

JoleneYesterday at 10:55 PM She sighed and the donut hung from her hand, only one bite taken "What ever mojo you had before hand....it changes, this is who you are now, what you are now...." she looks to Darren and nods "Killy's a good idea..." She looked to Fi "Get buddy buddy with Killy, he's a great guy, he'll help, he's a wolf, he has way more pull in keeping you safe than we do....." And she just looked at the box of donuts, and put hers back in it to wait for when her appetite was back.

Ruairi ByrneYesterday at 10:56 PM He took another bite of his donut, thinking on the situation. "Fi doesn't look like she's taken all this lightly. I mean... " He gestured lightly. "Clearly botherin her, so... why don't we all step back and ya know, collect ourselves. I mean, bitchin at her bout it ain't gunna make it go away, yeah?"

Darren LynchYesterday at 11:03 PM Darren's gaze shot to Ruairi, not in the mood to be told to calm down. When did that ever work? Not that Darren was overly loud about this, his voice still calm, just laced with anger and a concern. "Bitchin at 'er? There're things she needs to know so she doesn't get 'erself killed. She was a walking target being a MacKenna, and now she's a young unwitting blooded... you're tellin' me that's not the favorite flavor of a few of our worst enemies? She already 'as a spirit brought 'ome with her," pointing up to the crow. "And that one," pointing to Jo, "Is an open doorway without a guardian, and we're in a city bleeding with corruption." He took in a slow breath. "Not to mention we've got blood spilling in Kensington. Three dead so far." he said. "It's not a good day Ruairi."(edited)

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 11:07 PM She gives Ru a brief look of gratitude, but then her gaze darts back to Darren. "Oh god, Cash, I'm so sorry." She hangs her head. "And I'm putting all this on you on a time like that..." She reaches up with her free hand, rubbing her forehead. "I don't know how to make it stop or I would."

JoleneYesterday at 11:09 PM She drew in a slow breath, at the words, though when Darren mentioned the lack of Guardian, there was a brief, feral showing of teeth, but it quickly died, a fresh scab picked at. But she knew he didn't mean anything by it. She looked to Fi "There's no making it stop, but you ain't got the life you had, you think you know about what Cash is, what I am...but you're about to do a serious crash course. There are people hunting for those like you, new to it, young, easy marks..." Where was that god damn donut. She eyed the box, but didn't go for it, instead reaching into her pocket and pulling out a flask to take a sip.

Ruairi ByrneYesterday at 11:10 PM He tilted his head at Darren, a slight smirk sliding on his face. "See, that right there is why I'm sayin take a step back. I didn't say any of that. I'm sayin, if the horse is already tryin its best, you prolly shouldn't beat it. I mean, look at her. Fi ain't sittin here planning escapades across the city, is she? Man you're like.." He lifted his hand. "Up here, and you need ta be down here." Lowering it then. "Fi's smart, she'll get it." He looked at Fi. "Eh it's better now than later."

Darren LynchYesterday at 11:16 PM "I'm not 'ere to sugar coat thin's and make it easier." he said, "Excuse me Fi, enjoy your donuts." he said, moving over to Fi's liquor cabinet to bust out whatever she kept in there, taking off his jacket and setting it on the back of a chair.

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 11:28 PM She grabs her large glass of wine and sips it, trying to just, calm down a bit. "What do you want me to do, Cash? I know where to avoid, I know somewhat what not to do. I'll talk to Killy, I guess." She fades off for a moment. "I just wanted to tell my friends first."

JoleneYesterday at 11:37 PM She found a bit of wall to lean against with her flask, and just fell into silence.

Ruairi ByrneYesterday at 11:40 PM He just shook his head a little at Darren and lightly nudged the donut box. "Man, you need some carbs." He finished his, licking his fingers. "Well, know it doesn't seem it, but we're glad you did."

Darren LynchYesterday at 11:43 PM Darren quietly poured himself a drink, setting it down on the table and sitting down beside it, tossing his keys and cigarettes down too. "You're doin' it Fi," he said softly, his attention split far down a line. "Tomorrow we'll start explainin' thin's. Tomorrow you'll talk to Killy."

Fiadh MacKennaYesterday at 11:48 PM "I know I quit ages ago but...can I get one of those?" She nods towards his cigarettes. "I am sorry I've thrown a wrench in things. Maybe this is...some fucking punishment for cheating and affecting the luck of a wolf. I've used it on you plenty of times and it never did anything like this." She drains her wine and sets the glass down. "The timing just doesn't seem right, either."

JoleneYesterday at 11:51 PM "It isn't about a wrench, it isn't a fault thing...it's trying to figure out what your world is now, and how to keep you safe in it...most of us learn young, surrounded by family, pack, you ...it's different." And she took another drink from her flask.

Ruairi ByrneYesterday at 11:57 PM Ru found a seat and settled in, grabbing himself another donate, content with the sugary food.

Darren LynchYesterday at 11:58 PM "This isn't your fault Fi," he shook his head gently, "It's not you I'm mad at." he glanced to Jolene and nodded at her comment, "surrounded by a family. A pack. I can't be that for you. We..." gesturing to the three of them, "Can't be that for you. And yes, you're smart and yes you'll get it, but its a lot, and you're not gonna be 'appy." he said, lighting up a smoke and then pressing the pack forward for her to come get. "It's fucking heart breakin' is what it is." January 18, 2021

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 12:03 AM "What are you talking about, Cash? You are my family." She looks at the three of them. "What are you going to do? Avoid me now? Distance yourself from me?" She grabs the pack and pulls one out, lighting it. "So I expand my family, I don't just...you're not going to..." She stares at the three of them. "That's crazy talk."

JoleneToday at 12:05 AM "No, of course not, it's not like that at all. But you need to understand Fi, you have a lot to learn, and need to be kept safe now. It's not something the three of us can handle alone, we need to find wolves to help, not blooded, 's why we think Killy might be a good idea, since you guys are friendly." her flask was getting light, which was making her lips turn into a frown.

Ruairi ByrneToday at 12:09 AM "He just means it's gunna be different. Really different. Can't have the same whole like set up. Like..when one of your friends gets a promotion but you're still doing like.. cashier or something."

Darren LynchToday at 12:18 AM He nearly snorted at the question of avoidance, "Quite the opposite. You thought I was protective of you before..." he shook his head. "Now you're one of the People Fi. I was raised to protect you. Connall would take off my fuckin' 'ead if I let anythin' so much 'as 'arm you." he said taking a swig of the booze. "And now you're lookin at maybe being a wolf some day. Hmm? You realize that? And then?" he looks around, "The rest of it doesn' matter. That becomes your 'ole life. K&A? Nothin'. Black Penny... what's it matter? You'll 'ave far bigger issues."

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 12:24 AM She takes a long drag off the cigarette in her fingers, and blows it away from the rest of them. "I'm not running out taking any extreme risks. I'll be careful." Another hit off the cigarette. "I'll stick close to 'ome for a while. Which is here, now." She points with the hand holding the cigarette towards the far left shelf. "Back there. Da agreed to letting me live here if I made it all secret like. We bought the building behind here. No outside windows but at least I have skylights."

JoleneToday at 12:26 AM She listened to what Darren rattled off, stashing some questions for later, before slowly nodding. "Good...isn't the time to press your luck, you need to remember your luck is the same as everyone elses now." She imagined that might be a struggle, the things you take for granted.

Darren LynchToday at 12:44 AM Darren looked to the wall, giving it a soft nod. "Good. If shit hits the fan and you can't find Killy or myself, you go in there and you don' come out, aye?" he looked up at her. "We'll take this slow, okay?"

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 12:45 AM Her eyes gaze up to the crow up in the rafters, then glances over at Jo with a wry smile. "Does this mean I'll get to see the glow floofs now when I tell them 'ello?"

JoleneToday at 12:46 AM She nods slowly "It does...yeah...but I'd keep your talking to them, until you've been at this for a bit longer, spirits are very much the sort to notice you, noticing them...." Worrying at her lower lip and slowly exhaling. "Don't trust your gut, everything you know went sideways, take things slow, try to be patient."

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 12:51 AM She looks back up at the crow and holds her hand up towards it. "Everything in me tells me that one's good." The crow spirit does take off, flying down, landing on her forearm. "I call 'er Nemain." Then you can practically see the gears in her head spin for a moment. "There isn't anything dangerous with names, is there? Nemain just felt right, but if I'm invokin' the actual fuckin' Morrigan maybe I'll try to come up with another."

JoleneToday at 12:55 AM She looked to Fi, her eyes narrow "....just that one then, but don't go telling it secrets just yet....Wait until you have yourself sorted." she decides with a slow huff, a look at the box of donuts, the door, the sky, working through her thoughts.

Darren LynchToday at 12:56 AM "Your actions will attract all sorts. The art.. you'll get a lot there. And if they know you can see 'em they tend to stick around."

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 12:58 AM She holds the crow up, eyes Jo, eyes Darren, then mock whispers. "If you get Cash plastered, sometimes he'll dance. He is a horrible dancer." She then frowns at Darren. "You aren't telling me to stop painting, are you? I'll stop the graffiti for now, but here in the studio? Are there not any...protections? Or is that something to ask Killy about?"

JoleneToday at 1:00 AM "I don't know that Darrin gets plastered like that these days, but I do know he's an amazing dancer." A slow sly grin, before she looked to Darren. She slowly crossed the bit of distance between them. "Keys?" Tentatively, really she was saying she was tired, and wanted to lay out in the car, and hopefully bum a ride home all with one word! Language was fascinating.

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 1:01 AM She gets more serious, looking up at Darren. "If you need to hide someone for a few days, my place back there has several spare rooms. I figured it'd be useful."

Darren LynchToday at 1:02 AM He scoffs, "I ain't danced for either a you's. Liars both of you are." he said simply. "You don' ave to quit painting. Not at all. I'm just givin example."

He looked up, "I don't know if you notice my stress comes from protecting people because I'm usually ired to do the opposite."

JoleneToday at 1:04 AM She eyed Darren for a long moment, then Fi "I'm going to head home, I'll catch you both later." Pausing a moment "Just be careful Fi, you've a whole new world to learn, and it's going to take time."

Darren LynchToday at 1:08 AM He dug out his keys and handed them over to Jolene, "I'll be out in a minute. I'll drive ya."

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 1:08 AM "I only tease you because I care, Cash. I'll stick around here for a few days. I've a few paintings I've been working on anyway. Am I safe to get food delivery?" She winces. "If that's a stupid question I apologize, I just really am not sure what is and isn't safe right now so I'm..." She shrugs. She then looks over at Jo. "I promise, I'll be careful. Whatever the three of you tell me to do I'll do it."

JoleneToday at 1:10 AM She nodded a little at that, taking the keys, and looking placated by them, like they were a proper offering for a spirit girl. "Food delivery yes, check the peep hole first- Good." she looked back to Darren. "See you in a few." And off she went to go recline in the car to music and be sleepy. (I need the sleeps! Thanks for the rp guys)

Darren LynchToday at 1:13 AM Darren watched Jolene go and looked back at Fiadh with a sullen expression, rising and collecting his things slowly. "I'm sure it'll be fine Fi. For now. I'll come by tomorrow and explain a bit more. And call Killy and ..." he chewed his cheek a bit, "Jus' see if he'll also look out for you. I'm sure 'e will. He's a good man from what I've eard."

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 1:15 AM "On a scale of meh to what the fuck, how surprised is he going to be at my new status?"

Darren LynchToday at 1:16 AM "I 'ave no idea. I 'ardly know the man. But this isn't to be taken lightly. And there are goin' to be times I don't want you near me either. It's not personal.. but you attract spirits with your painting... I attract 'em too. Nasty bastards come 'round when you spill that much blood."

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 1:19 AM "Because you don't want to bring the scary ones around me, because the'll fuck with me." She gives a sad smile. "I don't like it but I get it. Though I'm sure I'll be able to...get a handle on things eventually, right?"

Darren LynchToday at 1:21 AM "Eventually, yes. Sure. It's just... mistakes can be deadly. And whether it means my own head or not, I'd rather not see you lose yours, Fi." he pulled his jacket on and rounded the table. "The wolves are a world I stepped away from. And now you and Jo are gonna bring me back kickin and screamin'. We're all getting a slap in the face tonight, hmm?"

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 1:23 AM She sighs. "I never meant to put this sort of thing on your shoulders. I'll do everything you tell me to. I will be smart."

Darren LynchToday at 1:25 AM "I know," he said, reaching over to give her arms a squeeze, "I know you will," though his voice betrayed his was far from okay with this turn of events. "Get some rest."

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 1:27 AM "Don't worry too much about me, okay? I'll be fine." She grins. "Go take Jo home and dance with the girl."

Darren LynchToday at 1:29 AM He paused and looked her over, "I need you to really be fine. Now's not the time for break downs. We swallow those down and forget them from here on out."

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 1:33 AM "I have far too much work to do to get the art together for the gallery. Burying myself in work seems like a wonderful way to avoid any breakdowns." She smiles at him. "Besides, I have me own secret hideout to decorate. I'll be busy for days."

Darren LynchToday at 1:35 AM He considered her for another moment and slowly nodded. “My phone is on if you need anythin’. Just call.” As if that hadn’t always been the case. “Night Fi...”

Fiadh MacKennaToday at 1:36 AM "Night, Cash." She reaches out and lightly punches his shoulder. "I'll call Killy tomorrow, and call you after to tell you how it went."
