Maddy's Wafflehouse

Log

Kayla Sockum: Kay has papers laid out in front of her at her table, she's writing on some of them even. A cup of steaming coffee is right beside her, along with an empty plate of waffle. She's wearing a white button up shirt and a pair of jeans. She slowly begin to gather the paper after one last scribbles at the bottom of a page. (Magic active)

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah meandered through the portal into Maddy's with a spring in his step and a song in his heart, judging by the tune that the Mastigos was humming as he made his way inside. Spotting Kay already there he smiled, eyeing the papers curiously as he approached. "You look busy. Mind if I join you?"

Kayla Sockum: "After the number of time I unduly bothered you in the middle of writing a song or doing the work for the Green Room, I think I'm fine with you joining me while I'm working on various ideas for spells and effects." Kay says warmly, her written work seem to be mostly in English, most of it color coded, nonsensical writing if one doesn't know what the intent behind is.

"How're you today?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sounds fun..." He said with a grin, sliding into the other side of the booth. "Doing pretty good. Been experimenting with some of what I've picked up on the Forces front lately to get a better feel for it outside of the light based effects, and it's been interesting."

Kayla Sockum: "I've done some, consensual, experiment with a shapeshifting vampire recently, see how some of their powers interact with ours and it was a bit strange, but a learning experience." Kay explains "I've been shielding myself with Time a lot lately too, been wanting to get better. One of the Free Councilor has found the patience to answer my many questions about it."

Kay finishes gathering her papers. "Do you plan on using Forces to use your music in a different way? Would it help with anything?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Oh?" Cue a curiously-arched eyebrow. "That does sound interesting. I've talked a bit with one of the Lost here once or twice about how our respective magics work but I haven't had a chance to hook back up with them to do a proper breakdown. Will have to fix that at some point."

"It can, yeah. I can amplify or diminish sound as needed, and also change the direction that it comes from or where it goes to. That also basically lets me Cone of Silence things as needed, which is pretty handy." He added with a smirk.

Kayla Sockum: "Oh I see, so you learned Forces just to have a mute button on me when I'm being annoying." Kay accuses with a warm, amused smile there, maybe a little obtuse to the potential intended suggestion that Jay was making.

"The experimentation was mostly centered about clashing my shapeshifting him into a tree and then him trying to transform using his own powers, we wondered how it would function and it's a bit like when two spells collide" She makes a collision motion with her hands.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah took up a shocked look at the insinuation, a hand going to his heart all atwitter. "You wound me...I would never. And here I was, ready to offer some gravitic assistance the next time you go micro so you don't have to climb everything manually..."

He let the act drop with a smile, nodding as Kay continued. "Huh...can see it working like that, yeah."

Kayla Sockum: "I was specifically referring to your cone of silence comment." Kay defends with a soft grin. "That assistance might be welcomed, but It's a good work out to like, climb everywhere by either making the tea plants grow or pulling splinters out of portions of the furniture." A short beat "Sometimes I call in shadows to help, but that's an old trick for me."

"I also served as a snack for said vampire, since using their powers make them hungry, but that was a bit weird. I can heal from blood loss however, so that's an interesting experiment on its own."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Fair enough. Playing around with that has been interesting, though, I will say. Can't get the fields to last too long yet without taking a potential Dox hit, but they are pretty nifty."

"Really..." He sat back in his seat, mulling that thought over. "Yeah, I can imagine. I do think that Life will be the next new thing I pick up, if only for how it plays into the legacy I'm a part of. May keep pushing with Mind or Space more first, though, get my name on the Master leaderboard as it were."

Kayla Sockum: "Hey, took me pretty long to get there so no rush. But if you want to get there, I'm here to help cheer you on!" Kay says with a bright smile there, taking a sip from her coffee. "Mastering one of your own path first might help, so you have kind of an experience with milestone for the one that are stranger to your path."

"And you don't lack for potential teachers for Life, let me tell you that much."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I'm not really in a rush either, honestly? Spreading my base wider has served me pretty well so far, even if it doesn't necessarily put me in the heavy hitters category as far as the consilium as a whole is concerned."

"Very true indeed." He replied with a smile. "You and Harmony, for sure."

Kayla Sockum: "Fox, Weaver, Balm, Zadok, Baldur... and I'm sure I'm missing a few others." Kay makes a mental note of who she remembers having declared their masteries over Life. "And those are the Masters I remember, others might have reached for that mastery or be adept or disciple too."

"But yeah, I'm pretty sure Mary and I could definitely throw in our hats."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Yeah, quite a few folks indeed." He nodded, still smiling. "Could reach out to one of the others, if only for some inter-cadre alliance building and whatnot. I've already been working with Juno on the Forces front and she's been a big help."

Kayla Sockum: "And I've been working with Juno too, but with her own magic." She says with a little smile, leaning on the table, popping her knuckles. "I'm trying to figure out the last capstone for my legacy still, but I'm liking the pace I've been working at for this."

"Cookie Monster might be of some help, I don't remember if he has any Life though."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Nice...best of luck."

His eyebrow arched a touch as Kay continued, smiling slightly. "Can't say I've run into them yet..."

Kayla Sockum: "I think that's the nickname, not the full on Special fancy title, too." She chuckles "I paid him with some Hearth cookies for what he taught me." Because of course.

"I tried to make my own, too, but I don't think they're worth access to the Supernal, to be honest" A genuine laugh.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Gotcha...and yeah, I'd say her stuff is a fair trade for that kind of knowledge." He chuckled, giving a little nod. "Look forward to meeting them at some point."

Kayla Sockum: "I can arrange a meeting with them if you want me to? Acanthus aren't too hard to meet generally." Kay says with a little chuckle. "I get the feeling some of them just hit the Fate button in the morning to meet someone that want to meet them."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Would not surprise me in the slightest. One of the folks in LA I knew was like that, part of Ariadne's crew, just picked a spot in the city and wandered there to see whatever there was to see along the way that day. Tripped over some pretty interesting stuff as you can imagine."

Kayla Sockum: "I did hear a few things about that legacy and I might have considered maybe talking to them and such, but wandering the city for me is more of a result of trauma more than a mythical desire to connect with the city." She explains. "So I don't think that would have been a good avenue for me to explore in the end."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Yeah...feel you there. Getting around LA really needs a car most of the time, more so than here, and I was not good with getting behind the wheel for a long time after things happened." He nodded, giving her a small smile. "But, that led you to forging your own path, so can't really complain there."

Kayla Sockum: "I might like to visit LA at one point in my life, just to see what the whole thing is about and then I'll probably be happy to go back home." She chuckles "At least judging by how you're talking about the whole place."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It's a very pretty city on the surface, and worth visiting at least once. Parts of it can get pretty twisted, though, and once it's got a hold of you it takes some work to get back out."

Kayla Sockum: "Sentient cities with dark agendas are some kind of scary. It's not the first time I've heard something like that said about a city." she finishes her coffee

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Every city has its own heart and feel to it. I definitely prefer here to there, and most of the other places I've lived, honestly. The company's been better here at the very least."

Kayla Sockum: "Even when I'm making you want to use Forces to shut me up?" Kay is clearly joking here, reaching across the table to poke at Jay's poke at his arm

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Even then." He replied with a grin, giving her a quick poke in return. "On that note...speaking of company. I was talking with Polly recently about setting something up that will connect her place and the house so we can get back and forth easier. Wanted to run it by you and the rest of the girls first, though."

Kayla Sockum: "How do you plan on doing so?" She asks, curious. "Space? Strange Fae Magic?" She wonders

Jeremiah Hamilton: "More the latter, although it would be keyed so only certain people would be able to use it."

Kayla Sockum: "Would we need to throw in some wards?" She wonders, tilting her head to the side.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I would be, yeah, just in case. It doesn't have to be directly into the house, either, just close. I'm good with making it work so everyone's comfortable."

Kayla Sockum: "I'd be comfortable if people were safe, so I think shields and magics and protection for everyone involved would be good." she smiles gently.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Of course." Jeremiah nodded, smiling in return. "Will talk with the others as well, just wanted to run it by you while it was on my mind."

Kayla Sockum: "So like, my mind is now wondering if I could perfect birth control methods... like..." a beat "a Perfected condom, or control pill and stuff like that. I'd need to ask Juno."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "That's...a good question, and definitely outside of my wheelhouse." He chuckled quietly. "Worth asking, though."

Kayla Sockum: "At that point, I could just use a spell, but the thought exercise is useful." She ponders.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "True. No better way to expand our magical horizons than to think about new and interesting applications."

Kayla Sockum: "Hmm, I might try something with one of Mary's tea plants tonight." She ponders for a moment, tapping her fingers. "culinary experiment, not magic"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sounds good to me...both could be interesting together, too." He nodded with a smile. "Although I think Mary's already been doing that with some of the custom variations, yeah?"
