Log

Jacob Caulfield: Among the other lupine-adjacent folk that were at the Lounge on this particular afternoon was one Jacob Caulfield, who had claimed one of the tables for himself and was looking over something on his phone while waiting for the food he had ordered to arrive. A thin notebook sat nearby and was added to now and again via the pencil being twirled between the Ithaeur's fingers while he scrolled, glancing up now and again as others came and went through the room.

James Kill: Killy walks in to the swank place, grinning, hanging up his coat and looking about. He starts to head for the bar, then sees Jacob and diverts his way. “Hello! Sorry if I’m interrupting. How are you today?” He leans casually on the back of a chair, smiling. “It’s good to see a familiar face in an unfamiliar place.”

Jacob Caulfield: Jacob looked up properly at the greeting, giving a brief salute with the pencil-wielding hand before tucking said writing stick behind his ear. "No worries, and doing pretty good all told. You?"

James Kill: Killy pauses for a moment, then sighs softly. “Been better, but I’ll be alright. Just working through some stuff.” He orders a beer and some sushi at the bar, then sits across from Jacob. “Glad things are going well, for you.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Oh?" Cue an arched eyebrow from the Ithaeur. "Anything you need a hand with?"

James Kill: “Ah, not really, per say. It’s love life stuff, to put it simply. I just...need some time to adjust. Some distraction wouldn’t hurt.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Gotcha...best of luck." Jacob nodded quietly. "Haven't been with anyone on that front for a bit myself; not sure if that'll change here, but I'll see what happens."

"Was looking for some of the quieter spots in town that might be worth getting to know, outside of the usual tourist stuff." He tilted his head towards the notepad. "Like to get a feel for the place under the skin, as it were."

James Kill: “Oh yeah? I’ve been meaning to do that too. Do something exploring, get under the skin, exactly.” His drink arrives, and he sips at it. “Hmm. Found anything interesting? I’m curious, what’s going on in the city. Wondering if it might help me find my groove, my place.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Nothing too major yet, although I wager it's out there. City this old and drenched in so much history it's bound to have its pockets of weird."

James Kill: “Oh, yeah, definitely. I’m sure it’s all things that go bump, far enough down.” His sushi arrives, and he pops a piece in his mouth, thinking. “What brought you to Philly? I don’t want to be prying and annoying or anything, but I’m trying to get to know the people around, so.”

Jacob Caulfield: Jacob's own burger arrived along with the sushi, earning the server a nod before they headed off. "Family stuff, of the mundane kind. My brother moved up here a few years back and needed a hand with some things, and I decided on staying rather than going back to Houston."

James Kill: Killy nods and smiles, though there seems to be a little sadness in it. “Family is important, I totally understand. Seems like you’ve made a life here, so it all worked out, huh?”

Jacob Caulfield: "No complaints so far...well, would say the weather, but got a bit of help from the cold being too much of a problem." He allowed himself a small smirk, although that note of sadness from the Cahalith didn't go unnoticed. "But yeah...we had a rough time growing up, and I've done my damndest to be there when they need it even after getting tapped on the shoulder by the Argent Mother."

James Kill: He nods and smiles again, more fully this time. “Sounds like you’re a good brother. I’ve been...alone for long enough now, as annoying as my siblings could be, I miss all our stupid fights and whatnot, not just the good times.” He sighs softly. “I should call my sibling who’s down in Arizona...”

Jacob Caulfield: "I try to be, at least. I'm the eldest of four and always took keeping them in one piece pretty serious." He smiled quietly, giving a little nod. "May not be a bad idea. What's kept you apart, if you don't mind my asking? Just on the road a lot?"

James Kill: “I...my family wasn’t able to protect them anymore, so they went to like with extended family down there.” He sighs softly. “Now they’re the only one left, after...the trouble they were sent away from.”

“I haven’t had a secure, stable place to invite them to until now, and...I’m not looking forward to explaining everything that happened.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Ah...sorry to hear that." There was sympathy in Jacob's voice but no pity, another small nod offered with the sentiment. "Lost some folks in a similar way, including the last girl I was with, so I get you. It's a rough road to walk."

James Kill: Killy nods and drinks more of his beer. “It is. That’s why I want to find people here, be part of a family again, even if it’s not the kind related by blood. Like I said, trying to find my groove.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Right. Keeping an eye out on that front myself, so feel free to put me on your short list if you want."

James Kill: “Will do,” Killy replies with a nod. He eats some more sushi, and seems to be lost in thought for a bit.

Jacob Caulfield: Jacob let the silence linger for a bit while taking a few bites of his burger, looking the Cahalith over as he did so. "What brought you to Philly, out of curiosity?"

James Kill: “Me? I heard about the business with the mill, and that the community was pretty good sized here, so I thought I could probably help out and set up a new life for myself.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Fair enough. First heard about the mill once I got here, which was part of why I decided to stay so I could help try and clean up."

James Kill: He nods and eats more sushi. “It’s nice, being able to help. Feels like I’m doing my job, ya know? Figured I’d help with some of the shenanigans people found out about at the courthouse, so if you or any of yours plan on looking into troublemakers, I’d appreciate being able to tag along.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Will do. Just heard about it from Jolene a bit ago, plus the information Salome posted up, so I expect to get my hands dirty there soon enough."

James Kill: “Awesome, and thanks.” He finishes his sushi and beer, and relaxes in his chair a bit. “Pretty wild stuff, glad to hear that word’s really getting around. I think Philly’s gonna be a pretty interesting place, that’s for sure.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Mmhmm. Met some pretty solid folks so far, looking forward to seeing how people work together and whatnot."

James Kill: He nods. “Yeah, that’ll be good. And I agree, the people seem good here, at least in our crowd. Your crew is pretty awesome, it’s been nice to get to meet them, just in general.”

Jacob Caulfield: "My crew as far as the Shadows go, you mean? Yeah, they seem pretty solid. Met one of the Altmans couple days back, but I know there's a couple others floating 'round that I haven't run into."

James Kill: “Ah, I meant more Taylor and Salome and the others. But the Shadows I’ve met are solid too,” he replies with a smile.

Jacob Caulfield: "Ah...yeah, I'm not running with them per se. Just happened to bump into them in the park at the same time you did." He smirked a touch, taking a moment to polish off his meal and have a sip of his soda before continuing. "Looking forward to getting to know them more, though."

James Kill: “Ohhh, my bad, I didn’t realize...sorry about that.” He gives a sheepish look. “I misread that. But yeah, I’m looking forward to that too.”

Jacob Caulfield: "No worries, you're good." Jacob waived off the apology with a smirk. "Philly does seem to be a good place to have come to, though, at least as far as the people are involved."

James Kill: “Yeah, it is. I’m really looking forward to settling in, and being part of the community.” He checks his phone, and lets out a soft sigh. “Sorry to bounce, but I have to go take care of a few things. It was good to talk, hopefully I’ll be seeing you around.”

Jacob Caulfield: "Definitely." He lifted his glass in a small salute. "Catch ya later, and have a good one."
