Setting

Jack and Lux's apartment. Part of Plot: Gentryfication

Log

The apartment is a little messy, a little dusty. The kind of place that someone who works a lot and lives alone keeps, with not a lot on the walls and a sink full of dishes. There's a few pieces of clothing strewn around the living room floor, and a neon pink sweatshirt draped over the couch. There's a kitchen, living room, and a single bedroom... which Jack and Lux are no doubt curled up, fast asleep. Thankfully Lux at least is wearing underwear tonight...

Jack's in nothing but boxers, tonight, between the warming weather and the heat of another body in his bed. And dead asleep, an arm and a leg draped over the sleeping Lux, his face buried into the back of their neck. He's not a snorer, not really, but he does make soft noises as he breathes, and occasionally shifts to snuggle closer to Lux - and also accidentally push them toward the edge of the bed.

A sweet and peaceful domestic scene, wherein the protagonists snuggle and sleep. Lux has been On Alert since the Incident in Robin's cabin, which is probably why they hear ... something. Maybe it's the rustle of clothing, or the sound of a third person breathing, but Lux wakes up -- and moves -- just as the little iron knife comes down and lands in the meat of their shoulder.

They moved. That's good. Robin was aiming for the light in the center of Lux's chest. It does provide a handy-dandy 'aim here for heart' marker, even in the dark.

"... fuck," she gasps, and there's a sharp, deep feeling that reverberates bone-deep through the other two Lost in the room. If the scent of blood and iron doesn't wake Jack, that will. That feeling of an Oath snapping in half.

Lux lurches, eyes wide and panicked. A piercing cry of pain echoes through the room and while Lux's first instinct is to run and hide, they feel Jack's body move beside their's and--they just can't. Lux scrambles up and away from Robin, crouching over Jack to shield him. "Jack! Light-Shy and run! I'll follow you!" But, until then, Lux ain't leaving Jack to be the only visible target. (I assume I was Prone and I think it takes my action to get up from Prone, so doing that. )

Well, when you act like a shield? Someone will probably take you up on it, even if you were actually the target in the first place. The Helldiver lunges at Lux, hissing between her teeth. "You stupid fuck," she snarls. Usually, villains monologue about now, but, uh... this is a Winter villain, so she doesn't seem too prone to monologuing.

Jack jerks awake, holding a hand out to shield himself from something he's not even fully conscious of, yet. Half a second goes by as he freezes, taking in the terrified form of Lux. The third person in the room. The knife, the blood -

He scrambles out of bed, pulling Lux with him, dark and heavy charcoal lines flying out from his form as he stumbles backward, still holding onto Lux. And then he's just...gone, his grip on Lux's arm disappearing as he Light-Shys.

Lux lets out another shriek of pain as their flesh burns and bleeds, staggering back against the bed. Their eyes narrow at Robin, lights flaring brightly. "I'm going to fucking destroy you!" Lux shrieks out, but as tempting as trying to get REVENGE is, they are really fucking hurting right now and iron is bad. Their form fades away as well. (Light-Shying, heading for the apartment door.)

"Bitch, please," Robin snarls back, "Even your Queen couldn't." And then she's gone, too, but her gone takes a little bit longer, as she fades from sight, leaving a bloody bed with its rumpled covers as the only testament to six seconds of violence.

Lux ain't taking their chances--they open the apartment door (if its not left open already), and is heading outside.

There's a few long seconds before Jack even moves. And all he does is grab his phone and keys - and Lux's, too - before following the sound of the opening and shutting door.

Lux is mostly naked and bleeding and in a lot of pain, and doesn't have their phone but they sure as fuck isn't going to un-Light-Shy or risk going back inside. They're trusting that Jack got somewhere safe, and right now... Lux is heading to Mearc's.

Convenient, having a third partner that both of them would go to. Because that's where Jack's heading as well. After shooting off a text to him, because there's no way he's gonna show up unnanounced after that.
