Soulwardens' Sanctum

Log

Harmony: Harmony has a great deal to think about, and talk about with the cadre following recent major events. So she's currently tending to plants in the kitchen, watering them s she hums, rather then being outside. This is the sort of thing they all need to be sitting around on the couch for and such. Her yellow dress is being worn, and as normal when she can get away with it, the Thyrsus is barefoot.

Hearth: Hearth was, predictably, in the kitchen. She was hard at work finishing off a magnificent tiered cake that appeared to be an open book on a pedestal. One page read 'Congratulations Factotem Dandelion!' in fancy script, and a bouquet of dandelions made of spun sugar tied with a ribbon lay across the other. Hearth had the airbrush, palette, and paint brushes out, and was currently creating the grain of the 'wood' that made the pedestal.

Diamond: Kay has been holed up in her little portion of the sanctum for the better part of the day, most of it spent talking over the phone about things relating to the day before. When she finally comes out of the room, she seems exhausted and, a rare sight, not smiling. She seems almost shy when she makes it to the kitchen, she's wearing a white tanktop and a pair of loose fitting burgundy pants and she's also bare footed. Magic is woven into her patterns, her spells active. "Hey." that wasn't enthusiastic

Sirius: Jeremiah had taken Kay's usual perkiness and added it to his own, it seemed, as he had a rather notable spring in his step as he made his way into the kitchen. "Hello everyone..."

Harmony: "Hey." She turns back to Kay with a nod, looking at her. "Shit.. hun, would a hug help?" She rubs at her chin. "Been a hell of a few days all round. This is about the protest?" Harmony moves over to offer said hug, nodding at Jay with a smile. "Some goodness, we're hopefully gonna be celebrating for Dandelion soon."

Hearth: "She passed with flying colors," Heather said proudly. "I ran over to watch while the cake was cooling, then came back to finish decorating. I'm almost finished! I know I've been busy and preoccupied the last few days so please fill me in?"

Diamond: "The Martyr's Tree has bloomed and flourished in ways not seen before." Kay explains "Investigation revealed that there were some sympathetic connections to it, new people that awakened during the protest." She looks to Sirius and smiles tiredly "There was two there and Sirius and I stayed behind to observe the third one, who happens to be someone he's been keeping an eye on already." She clear her throat "I also went to meet the other two and they had a shared awakening. I'm working with Councilor Welsingham and Sentinel Gardener to help our new babies avoid legal repercussions." She moves closer to Harmony and gives her a hug there. "Sirius you should share what Hierarch Penance said."

Hearth: She lit up with excitement, and food dye splattered across the floor when she dropped the paintbrush. "Three new Awakenings and the tree? That's remarkable! I'm so proud of you guys! Really though, I can't believe you didn't call me!"

Sirius: Seeing that Kay was out of sorts a bit of that exuberance faded, holding an arm out to offer a hug as well if the Moros needed it. "Happy bit of kismet there, it seems. We ran into each other at the Green Room and she made mention of a project she was working on to map out odd events in town. We got to talking, exchanged numbers, and then she just so happened to show a connection to the Tree. Had a good conversation with her last night, as well; seems that she knows the woman who awoke in the Mall." He looked to Kay at that. "Who, by the way, was previously a psychic. May not be a bad idea to tell whomever is mentoring her that she had those talents since they may transfer over into a facility with Mind magic."

"We've been asked to observe and make sure she comes through the Awakening without any outside interference, including from us. Per Master Echbert it should be happening in a few days. Assuming everything goes smoothly," he reached over to knock the nearest wooden surface, just in case, "we should get some major kudos from the Council out of it."

Harmony: "It was beautiful." Harmony breaths, hugging Kay warmly. "Still is, actually, I think it's still in bloom. And we totally should have done, mm. You shuld go see it when you can. But, this is a good spot for filling in and all. Thing is, it can predict Awakenings. I mean, that's.. fucking huge. Like, game changing. Right?" A bright nod and then she turns to Sirius and he's been hugged too. "We've been asked to studying an Awakening? Oh bloody hell, sorry, major few days, really, really is."

Diamond: "That major kudos, according to what I've heard would be..." Kay closes her eyes and there is a smile for a moment and her eyes are clearly shining a little bit there. "A Fruit from the tree, because it seems as if the tree has grown two more. One goes for the children, the other might be ours." she clears her throat "And that's why the long face." She points to her cheek there, trying to show a bit of humor. "I'm willing to explain when Mary's done." presuming Mary would not be quiet about the fruit part.

Hearth: "Awakenings are notoriously impossible to predict under usual circumstances- of which the tree is not. Before an actual Awakening even Fate or Time scrying will just return results indicating an individual will be a sleeper. It's nice to have the leg up in the recruitment department." She beamed. "Perhaps we should set up surveillance on our prospect and take shifts?"

Sirius: "You should've seen me when I opened the scrying window. Probably would have jumped straight out of my chair and started dancing if there hadn't been a number of councilors sitting nearby." He chuckled, giving Hearth a nod. "Not a bad idea. She's a professor at UPenn, so getting her class schedule shouldn't be too hard."

The mention of the fruit caught his attention - he had missed that bit of scuttlebutt, it seemed - causing an eyebrow to arch high. "No kidding...hadn't heard that." He was indeed curious about the 'long face', but also waited for the inevitable squee from the cadre's Thrysus to die down first.

Harmony: "Mm. And we'd need to be careful and all, but I reckon we can keep an eye on things without risking disrupting the Awakening. What if we worked in pairs and..." Stop. Wait. What. Fruit. Tree.

The Thyrsus stops to process and it's a damned good thing she's not holding a glass or anything fragile right now. She just turns to stare at Kay, eyes wide as she points at her. "We're... getting a fruit? A literal, real, fucking fruit?!" She does bounce on her feet there, pretty much screaming in unrestrained delight. "Oh fucking wow! Oh I fucking love you all!" Who's nearest her? 'Cause they're getting hugged first.

Diamond: "I suspect the fruit-receiving is contingent on us following the instructions however hard that may be, which could be a breeze or it could prove difficult or impossible." Kay sacrifices herself, what a hero, to be the first one to hug Harmony "Because no interference for Penance means no interference no matter what, even death. I suspect that might be something more difficult to accept." Kay smiles now though, cheered by the intensity of Harmony's joy, at least in part, she watches the rest of the Cadre, just in case they might be reacting to that, not wanting to spill her feelings all over the place before they have a chance to process the whole thing.

Hearth: Heather smiled broadly. "That is excellent news!" She joined the hug, embracing both Kay and Harmony together. "We shouldn't be interfering in a potential Awakening anyways. I have quite firm feelings on that subject as you know."

Sirius: Jeremiah naturally slunk over to join in on the group hug, smiling a touch. "As do I. Watching is one thing, but the steps are hers to take, not ours."

Harmony: She takes a few deep breaths, wrapped in the group hug. "Sorry. I'm back. Buzzed like crazy, but back. No interference." She nods to that. "And, we might not know what's part of her Awakening and what's not, so, we can't really react to anything at all, I think? And that likely means no spells on her or even near her, even passive ones for observation? So, mm, tricky. But we can do this. And, what I was saying is, I think pairs are good? Means we can act in shifts, and call the other two in if things heat up?"

A deep breath. "Was gonna ask as well, though this might need to be our only major focus, do we as a group want to do anything about what happened with the protest and the crackdown?"

Diamond: "I'm working with the GOV at the moment, I'm meeting with a Lawyer soon-ish." She leans back into group hug for a moment and looks specifically to Hearth and grins "I'm focusing on making sure the new magis are safe, but I suspect that it might be a Thing that comes up with the lawyer I'm meeting, if I go by what I heard about them last night."

Hearth: Heather nodded slowly. "Is there anything we can doproductively as a group that won't take away from our primary objective of watching the third Awakening? There's no point in joining the rabble of condemnation going on if it's just being another voice in the crowd and the others have it handled already?"

Sirius: "If they're cloaked they should be fine, and I can handle that if need be." Jeremiah nodded to Harmony. "I don't have much of a megaphone myself, but I did hear about students at UPenn putting together a fund for legal fees and medical bills. I'm planning on reaching out to them to see about arranging a day to donate the cafe's sales to the cause."

Harmony: Harmony nods, glancing at Hearth. "Mm, from everything I'm hearing, lots of people are focusing efforts. And Awakening first, yeah, that's gotta be what we watch like really, really good hawks." She smiles. "But if you've got things in mind Jay, I'm all up for tossing a few Fate spells about to help smooth the way, if you're good there? Same your end Kay." A firm nod.

Diamond: "Right this moment, I will see what the Lawyer needs from me and I'll update my avenues with you all the moment I know where things are headed in that particular case." Kay takes a deep breath "I'd like to bring up something, in case we succeed."

Hearth: "Of course, and if they're is anything the rest of us can do to assist, please don't hesitate to mention it too."

Sirius: Jeremiah nodded, then looked to Kay with a small smile. "Hit us with it."

Harmony: "Yups, standing ready with Fate, Life and Spirit." Harmony nods keenly at Kay. "Ready for the word, aye."

Diamond: "So, I awoke by eating one of the fruits from the tree when I was 14." There's a little smile there. "The thing is, it wasn't my fruit." Kay looks down on her hand. "It was to be Peacekeeper's specifically, as a reward for achieving the title, or maybe what she did to achieve the title." She clear her throat. "I always imagined that if I earned a fruit, I would be returning it to her." she hold her hands up. "But this isn't mine I'd like to know if you'd mind if we'd offer Hospitality to her so she could benefit from the study of it as well?"

Hearth: "You ate one?" Heather asked with interest. "What did it taste like? I'm not adverse to including her, if it will repay the debt you've taken on."

Sirius: A small smile snuck onto Jeremiah's face as the mental image of a wee Diamond sneaking the fruit off to eat it, giving a little nod. "No issue on my end about her studying it as well."

Harmony: Harmony covered her mouth. She's not hiding a grin, honest. "I'd like to think she was happy for an Awakening Kay, even if it cost her a fruit. Given what we recently learned of the Tree, perhaps it intended for that to happen?" A nod then. "Service is Mastery." She quotes. "I've no troubles with her being able to study it as well."

Diamond: "Maybe it was? I've had dreams since then." Kay smiles, tears in her eyes, unspilled. "I have a precious nickname for her we use when we're not in polite company." she chuckles. "The fruit tasted like blood, it looked kind of like a peach-like thing?" She shrugs. "But the blood part might have been because I started bleeding from the mouth right on the spot."

Hearth: "Hm. That does put a damper on cooking with it. Peachy though... Cobbler?" Hearth suggested.

Sirius: This is Jay's surpised face that Hearth wanted to bake with the fruit when they were done studying it. "Definitely a thought. Can cross that bridge once we get to it."

"First, though, we need to make sure our friend gets through this in one piece." He couldn't help but smile, that 'kid at Christmas' level of excitement clear. "So looking forward to this."

Harmony: "All the fruits are different." Harm nods at Kay, looping an arm around her shoulders. "I'm tempted to ask if she has a nickname for you too." A wink. "And, we do." Nodding towards Jay. "Careful observations then, I'm all for it." She beams. "We're gonna learn a whole lot here.. and then we get the fruit, and study it. And only then Hearth, can it go for cobbler." She sticks her tongue out.

Diamond: "I think I don't want to be involved in the cooking, I can't take another decade of teasing about it. I mean, the first rote I learned was Shaping and it's because I wanted to repair the damage I did to the floor." she grins a little.

Hearth: She rolled her eyes at Harmony. "Witnessing an Awakening is more exciting than the fruit, in my opinion. If we can get a better idea of what an Awakening actually is and does on a functional level, it would be incredible. Besides, if eating one sparked an Awakening, what could it do for us?"

Sirius: Kay's remark earned a curious look. "What did you do to the floor?"

"Exactly. Getting a front-row seat to this kind of thing is a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Like hell I'm going to squander it."

Harmony: "Fair." She nods to Hearth with a smile. "The Awakening should be where most of our efforts go, even if that's just watching, which it'd need to be. Do you think observing with spells and mage sight would risk upsetting anything? And yes." Curious eyes to go Kay. "What did happen to that floor?"

Diamond: "I took a bite of the fruit and I started bleeding from the mouth and it dropped on the floor. The floor rotted on the spot, I crashed through it right into Stygia." A soft chuckle follows. "Well not physical stygia, I don't think it was a mystery play - style of waking up. But it was also not my first time trying to awaken."

Hearth: "Very dramatic, as such events often are. I wonder if your fruit was already attuned to the Tower or if that was your personal influence."

Sirius: "The Sight should be fine, I'd think. For spells it may be better to cloak them just in case; wouldn't want our resonance rubbing off on her." Jeremiah nodded to Harmony, then let out a low whistle at Kay. "Damn. I took the long walk too rather than the play, so I know how that goes."

Close as they were the girls might pick up a brief flicker of something that crossed his features at the mention of his own venture into the Supernal, although it vanished as quickly as it came. "One must wonder. What else did you try before that, out of curiosity?"

Harmony: "Hm." She nods at Hearth. "I'd feel at least that her influence affected the outcome, but that ties to my own opinion that Awakenings are heavily impacted by the nature of the mages as much as the Supernal elements they connect to." She glances at Jay and says nothing on that look, but does reach out to squeeze his hand briefly. "Cloaking and care. I'll heed hat, yes." A nod and smile.

Diamond: "Both times were the same path, but the first time around I..." She gets a flash of intense grief which she rapidly shake off. "I was thirteen and I got angry when I got to the Matter trials and I failed them, trashed the whole place. I was" She smiles a little "I managed the second time by fixing the mess I made." she shake her head "Are you good at concealing magic, Heather?"

Hearth: "Certainly, that won't be a problem. I'll work on the casting this evening for everyone." She nodded a little, then jotted 'Meringues' on a menu planning board she had mounted to the wall.

Sirius: "I can cover mine, Heather, so no worries there." Jeremiah smiled a touch at Harmony's hand, giving hers a gentle squeeze in return. "I do want to get another good look at her beforehand, though, if I can swing it. She apparently has had a memory replaced at one point, and it's different enough from her memories in general that she's noticed it. I'm thinking that's her starting point, that itch that needs to be scratched that's getting everything rolling."

He nodded quietly to Kay, frowning briefly at that flash of grief. "Glad you were able to make it through, then."

Harmony: "Thanks Hearth. Cloaking spells are all the better when they're delicious." She grins widely, before nodding at Kay. "Yes. I wouldn't want to imagine you not being here. And, that might be in Jay, I wonder who did it.." She shakes her head. "I think we're fairly set? I was gonna go take my evening mediation if that's all good? And will make sure to keep all my mage sight on Alexis when I'm one of the observers."

Diamond: She smiles a little bit there and nods. "Let me know when you want me to take a turn. Let me know who I'll be teaming with for the watcher." She grins and bounces in place.

Hearth: Heather nodded. "Very well! I'm going to finish this cake and get it over to Mom's. Make sure you congratulate her when you see her next!"

Sirius: "I certainely will." He nodded to Hearth with a smile, then looked over to Kay. "Suppose we can take the first watch, unless you have something else going on this evening."

Diamond: "We can, but I might have to run for the Lawyer." she explains

Sirius: "Fine by me. Shall we, then?"

Diamond: "Yes!"
