Maddy's Wafflehouse

Log

Jeremiah Hamilton: While the hour was indeed late Maddy's was always open, and one of the booths had been claimed by one Jeremiah Hamilton, dressed neatly in black dress slacks, a dark grey dress shirt with the sleeves neatly rolled up to the elbow to reveal the tattoo sleeve on his left forearm and black dress shoes to match. The Mastigos hummed idly to himself as he looked over the menu, a cup of coffee already on hand to be consumed.

Ri Locannon: The door opens and a single tiny figure tentatively steps in, an obvious newcomer to anyone who can read the body's language shouted loudly. She looks all around, taking in the decor with a smile. Her eyes narrow when they rest on an attractive well-dressed man humming to himself. Ri approaches with none of the timidity seen in her arrival, stopping a respectable distance from the table but close enough to be clearly approaching the lone occupant. "Hey, I saw you at the show," she opens, "I've seen you around a few places now, that coffee shop uptown, right?"(edited)

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah looked up as Ri approached, a warm smile on his face. "Was a pretty good one, yeah? Been working with their bassist for a bit now." He made an 'after you' motion to the other side of the booth before offering his hand. "Most likely. Jay, good to meet you."

Ri Locannon: Ri flumps down in the cushy booth seat without grace or decorum, then almost on a bounce, pops up to take the outstretched hand. "Ri, a pleasure. I really enjoyed it. Was fun to get out and see some folks." She takes a moment and looks around at her surroundings. "When you say 'working with' do you mean you're a music coach, or, uh teacher?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: He smirked at the sudden landing into the booth, nodding at the question. "Music coach, mentor, that sort of thing. Been getting into proper production work as well lately."

Ri Locannon: Ri flashes a grin and makes a motion to order coffee. "Well I'm always impressed at musicians and those who know it. "I never got past 'chopsticks' on piano lessons."

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah took a moment to put in an order for pigs in mud waffles once Ri ordered her coffee, chuckling at the pantomime. "Thanks. I got into it at a young age and have stuck with it, even if I'm working more on the mentoring side than actual performing these days. Helping others get that time in the spotlight is worth it, though."

Ri Locannon: Ri orders eggs and bacon. And a side of sausage. And a side of ham, thank you. "So you've spent some time in the spotlight, then, I take it? Why not stay in it?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I tried to get there, at least. Went to Stanford for university then up to LA to try and get into the big times there, and to be blunt the city ate me alive. Ended up way too deep in the 'fuck everyone else, I want mine' way of life and burned a lot of people because of that. Something big happened to break me out of that mindset, thankfully, and I started putting the effort towards things that really mattered."

Ri Locannon: Ri takes a sip of her coffee and takes a quick pause and an appreciative nod. "Ooh yeah LA is brutal. No thank you. Sounds like your 'something big' might have been quite the good thing. The spotlight can be," she pauses, a small smile creeping up, "very unflattering." She takes another sip and gives another appreciative nod. "Stanford, huh? Smart fella," she says, playfully.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "For the most part, yeah. It opened up my eyes to the truth of the world and ultilmately led me here, so no real complaints." He smiled quietly at that, taking a sip of his coffee before nodding. "It can be. Take it you know from experience?"

He chuckled at the compliment, giving a small shrug in return. "I try to be, at least."

Ri Locannon: Ri gives a sorta half-smile/half-shrug. "I made a name for myself early in life in certain circles. The attention caused a lot of problems for more than a few people. Like you said, people got hurt and I couldn't have that happening more." She pauses, her eyes and brow wrinkling in thought. "When you're young, and you think you're invincible, I think that the world finds really interesting ways to prove you wrong."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ain't that the truth." He gave a solemn nod, lifting his coffee up in a small salute. "Here's to getting through the other side wiser for it."

Ri Locannon: Ri lifts her cup. "Cheers," she offers. "So," she says after a quiet sip, "you're a musician, and a 'big thing' turned you into a music producer? I bet you're quite the people person, eh?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Turned me into a community builder who happens to focus on up-and-coming musicians, but yeah." He smirked a touch. "More often than not."

Ri Locannon: "This might be my once-a-month talking to a new person, so I'm making the most of it," Ri pips. "I get the feeling like you'd probably good people to know, Jay." Ri takes a moment to devour some sausage. "Thorry. Little hungry." She swallows. "Sorry."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "No worries, you're good." He smiled warmly at the apology, and what a charming thing it was, before taking a moment to cut into the chocolate-and-bacon infused waffle before him and snag a bite of his own. "Happy to be your monthly humanity outreach target, then."

Ri Locannon: "Yes, you should be honored. Once a moon, lo the clouds part, etcetera, etcetera." She laughs. "But seriously, and forgive me if this is too forward, I like to know people who know people, ya know? I've been in Philly for uh, three months, four months, something like that, so I'm just barely scratching the surface, ya know?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: He grinned at the laugh, nodding as she continued. "Not too forward at all. There's a lot to find here, especially once you factor in all of the strange and unusual. I've been here for about five years myself, and I know there's things I'm missing."

Ri Locannon: "Gosh," she says, a mouthful of bacon fighting for brave escape. "Yes, not to mention all the strange and unusual. But, we still have to live in this world and that's where I like to operate. Plus, you seem like my kind of people in more ways than one." She gives a quick gulp down of her food. "So, again, pleased to meet ya."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ditto." Jeremiah took a moment to have another bite or two of his waffle before continuing; table manners were a must for the Mastigos, it seemed. "In what ways, out of curiosity?"

Guy Dagenham: The door to the diner springs open with a jingle, not quite slamming but jumping with abrupt force. A man steps inside; tall, dark-haired, stern-featured. He looks at his hand as if it has betrayed him for a moment, then glances around the room before walking to sit at a table. He moves with the rolling, almost lazy gait of a predator at ease; his every motion screaming that he could kick anyone’s ass he pleased. His eyes are cold and empty as they take the others in the restaurant in. Keen wolf noses might pick up a whiff of blood on him. He picks up a menu, and reads it over.

Ri Locannon: Ri smiles, about to playfully answer Jay's question, her mouth parts just a tiny bit then her eyes dart to her right, her nose crinkles up juuuuust so. Her head turns slightly right, but she resets, her eyes latching on to her plate and then smiling back at Jay. "Well, neither of us are asleep at whatever time in the morning it is. And someone in music I'm sure knows where there are some fun spots for letting loose."

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah looked towards the door as it opened, giving the incoming vampire a quick "where do I know you from" look before things clicked and he offered Guy a quick salute. He then looked back to Ri, giving an amused smile. "True, on both counts. Hard to find new talent if you don't know where to look, after all."

Guy Dagenham: He tilts his head at Jeremiah’s salute, staring at the other man a moment, and then realization clicks and he nods to him. He looks at Ri for a moment with expressionless eyes, then goes back to the menu. When the waitstaffer comes by, he orders a Coke and the Cowboy Burbon Burger, whatever that is.

Ri Locannon: Ri chuckles slightly. "So it seems, well connected, indeed." She turns in her seat to take a look at the newcomer and nods in the way of greeting before turning back. "Well, talent, and good old fashioned fun, too. It's always good to know more folks."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "You'll meet a good number of folks of all sorts coming in and out of here. The food's a good enough reason to come by, but the company usually makes it all the better."

Guy Dagenham: Guy’s gaze looks to the two again, overhearing their conversation. “It’s true,” he says softly but clear enough to hear. “You’ll meet all sorts of folks in here. Sorry for intr—...yes, intruding. Seemed a dramatic time to jump in.”

Ri Locannon: Ri laughs, "Entering a diner is always dramatic. It's like a western but with less swinging doors and more jingles. Maybe there needs to be a rainbow-esque sound or a lightsaber swoosh on the door. Or the tune from Seinfeld." She makes a few really bad approximations of the Seinfeld theme that sound more like beatboxing.

(( Or porno music. ))

Jeremiah Hamilton: "No worries." Jeremiah waved off the apology with a smirk, chuckling at the attempted sound effects. "Guy, right? Things going good on your end?"

Guy Dagenham: His lip flickers at Ri’s sound effects; he most be ready to burst out laughing. “Yes, I am Guy Dagenham,” he replies, turning a little to face Ri and Jeremiah. “Yeah, things are good. Nothing shaking things up, projects I’m working on going smoothly. How about you?”

Ri Locannon: "Hi, uh, Guy. Sorry, didn't mean to rhyme. I'm Ri." She gives a wave. "It's a pleasure to meet you!"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "About the same, no major complaints." Jeremiah nodded, motioning between Ri and himself. "We happened to go to the same show tonight and started chatting once we got here. Kind of like how we met, if I remember correctly."

Guy Dagenham: Guy nods to Ri, and offers another flicker of a smile. “Good to meet you too, Ri. It is nice to meet new people in our circles.”

He tilts his head as he looks to Jeremiah. “Mmm, yessss...where was that again? I can remember the lights, the music, the smells...but not where we were. And you had...friends with you?”

Ri Locannon: Ri nods and smiles but allows Jay to answer.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah sat back in his seat, having to think on that for a moment. "Was a little jazz place...want to think the Blue Rose or something like that. Was you, Petra and her friend Rhapsody, and then a friend of mine met up with us later on."

Guy Dagenham: “Ohhhh, right, right. Thank you, sometimes it’s hard to...place all the things I remember in relation to each other. Have a lot of, ah, back-log, as they say. That was a fun time, it’s been a while since since I took Petra out for jazz...”

Ri Locannon: Ri considers the tall man looming over in her periphery. "A lot of data in storage, huh? I'd guess you'd likely be a good dance partner, though." She turns to Jay. "Is this a place in the city?"(edited)

Jeremiah Hamilton: "No worries, and I can imagine." Jeremiah nodded quietly, not pushing the topic farther in case the Kindred didn't feel like disclosing that sort of thing. "The Rose? It is, yeah."

Guy Dagenham: Guy shrugs. “Happens to everyone as they get older, and I have a half perfect memory on top of it. As for dancing...eh. I’m getting better, but it’s a slow thing. It is fun, though, especially with Petra, but she makes everything more fun, so.” He flashes a toothy grin.

Ri Locannon: Ri smiles contentedly and settles back in and noms a bit more on bacon and sausage. "She sounds quite nice."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "She's good people, and you two suit each other well." He smiled a touch to Guy before going back to his own meal for a bite or three. Once his fork was down he looked to Ri. "You mentioned you were new in town. You settling in alright with your folks, whomever they may be?"

Guy Dagenham: His Coke arrives, and he takes a sip very slowly and deliberately while the others grab bites. “Yeah, she’s great. And thank you, Jeremiah.” He listens for Ri’s response to the question, sitting almost carefully in his chair.(edited)

Ri Locannon: Ri nods. "Yes, slowly. It's been a bumpy road the last few months, but fortunately I've found a great group of people. I had a friend from here who drew me here and that's led to a few connections. But it's only been a few months, so only a few excursions," she adds with a chuckle. She looks back down at her food.(edited)

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Good to hear it." Jeremiah nodded with a smile. "The various communities here work together pretty well overall, and this is the big hub for getting to meet other folks in a place where we can talk more freely."

Guy Dagenham: “It’s pleasant, getting to...get out and be open with people that aren’t the same, if that makes sense. Getting to...interact with people who understand, on some level, but don’t have the same struggles.” He shrugs a little. “It’s just interesting. And this is definitely the place for it.”

Ri Locannon: "Well I appreciate interesting. I've been in a lot of other places and there's not always been that sense of community for sure."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It is a rarity, from what I've seen, but that's more to our favor as I see it. Different viewpoints allow for better solutions and all that."
