Log

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah arrived at the cafe at the appointed time to pick up Nevy and their things - and likely give them a very large hug, if they so wished it - before driving the new-ish sedan into Old Kensington. Soon enough he parked the car in front of an old brick building that blended in neatly with the homes around it, a large green wooden door set into the entryway. "And here we are." He said with a small smile, turning off the car and emerging to help with the bags as needed. "Shall we?"

Nevermore Usher: Nevy showed at the time agreed upon, with a big ol' duffel bag (black) and their messenger bag (black) and a stuffed bat (patchwork) they're hugging tightly. They absolutely accept the hug as offered, with a grateful smile. When they arrive at the house, Nevy glances around. "So, this is where your... um... cadre? lives?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It is indeed. Used to be a warehouse back in the wayback but got converted into lofts. We've done some additional work to it since we moved in." He led the way towards the door, unlocking it and holding it open for her. The main entry area came first with wood flooring and the living room beyond, with what looked like a very well decked out kitchen off to one side, a stairwell heading up to the second floor on another and doors going to other rooms near the back and one by the stairs. "The guest room is the one by the stairs if you want to put your bags down."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy nods. "Thank you," They say, looking around with undisguised curiosity. They do, in fact, drop off their bags, then come back out to look around. "So, is there anyplace here that will turn my entrails into my extrails or turn me into a newt or anything like that, if I'm not careful?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not that bad, but the heart of this place is down in the basement and it'd be best if one of us is with you if you do go in there. There's nothing bad in there, but it's...sensitive, for lack of a better way to put it."

Kayla Sockum: From a room that seems to come below, the basement, a chanting voice is heard, maybe familiar. It stops and there's a possible sensation of magic rising from there if one is to be sensitive to it. Then the sound of some stuff being stacked and steps coming up stairs. Kay emerges from a door further into the building and smiles upon seeing Nevermore. She's wearing a yellow tanktop and a pair of white shorts, her hair all held in many little braids. "Hey!" she's holding a wooden bowl, a square piece of wood and something like a necklace inside of the bowl. "Was doing my little routine way later than usual."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy nods. "Stay out of the basement, got it." When Kay shows up, they wave. "Hi. Thank you for letting me stay here for a while, you guys. I really appreciate it."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Hey there." Jeremiah replied with a smile as Kayla emerged, giving her a nod. "Either of you want anything to drink? Got milk, tea, water, can get some coffee going..."

Kayla Sockum: "Coffee in my case, since i'm not super likely to sleep tonight to be honest." A little chuckle. "I need to review a few things that I forgot to in my haste to reach out to the big bosses." A shrug of her shoulder. "hug?" she asks toward Nevermore opening one arm, holding the bowl in the other.

Nevermore Usher: Nevy goes in for the hug, then looks to Jeremiah. "Coffee would be incredible, thanks!"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Coming right up." With that he headed into the kitchen to get the coffee pot going, which was followed by a quick "ooh, Heather's been busy" as he spotted the Moros' most recent concoction on the counter.

Kayla Sockum: "Don't touch the pie, that one's for me and Mary." Kay calls from the outside of the kitchen and then turn to Nevermore again. "How are you holding up?" She guides them toward the living room, which looks like a cross between a meditation room and an interior garden, mostly plants used for tea. "We're moving to the living room." she calls out to the intent of jay "Tell me when you need me to help you bring the cups!"

Nevermore Usher: They blink. "Oh! I almost forgot to ask! Is this place haunted at all?" They shrug one shoulder. "Honestly it's not a dealbreaker, either way, but it's good to know." Their ears perk up. "Oooh, what'd she make?" They let themselves get ushered. "It's... you know. I'm trying not to think about it. Or trying to think about it to the exclusion of anything else. Half and half."

Kayla Sockum: "It's not Haunted yet, but I'm planning to make a Ghost to guard the place in case we have some intrusion." Kay explains "Which does not involve killing anyone, I should mention." She flops down onto the couch and smile, crossing her legs. "If you do venture in the basement, bring a vest it tends to be colder though."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy frowns. "What do you mean, 'making' a ghost?" I thought the only way to do that involved some very socially frowned-upon practices."

Kayla Sockum: "When we reach mastery in our abilities, we gain the ability to create things from scratch." She explains. "I could create an echo of myself that function as a ghost." Kay smiles. "Because that's what I specialize in."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy blinks. "Oh - you'd be creating your ghost?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: A call of "soft pretzels!" came from the kitchen as the two talked, the Warlock probably amusingly unaware of the conversation going on. "You guys want some?"

Kayla Sockum: "Yes!" She calls out and smiles, then turn toward Nevermore. "I could make yours, like a what if you were one." She looks around for a brief moment and then back to Nevermore. "If you see a cat it's either Jay's or it's actually Mary." she comments. "Sorry, just thought that was a thing you should be warned about."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy hesitates. "Um.... pretzels sound... good." They eye Kay. "I... don't think I'm ready for the existential weirdness of talking to my own ghost yet."

Jeremiah Hamilton: After a minute or three Jeremiah made his way into the living room area with a tray holding a carafe of coffee, three mugs and all the usual fixings along with a plate of pretzels done up in the shapes of various letters. "I'll need to ask Heather what she was making these for, if anything. There's a couple that are in rather...interesting shapes." He said with a chuckle, setting the tray down in easy reach before taking a seat. "What'd I miss?"

Kayla Sockum: "That is the exact reason It's not already done. I just know I'm going to spend like like a month feeling weird about it." Kay explains and giggles, leaning forward. "I'm betting it's either for me and mary or like, someone she knows who's getting it." she giggles a little bit. "Talking about ghost and me making them."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy looks awkward, then takes a q - or is it a b? "So, um... when you're not doing magic, what do you do?" They say to Kay.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah...yeah, that's still out there for me, too." He nodded, nabbing an a-shaped pretzel for himself before going to work fixing a cup of coffee for himself - namely a rather heavy pour of sugar with a splash of cream to color it. He looked to Kay at the question asked, letting her field it as she saw fit.

Kayla Sockum: "I help others do theirs, I tend to the mundane concerns of my group, sometimes legal, others I just walk by and help them sort their libraries or give them a hard time, because that's what siblings do." A little chuckle. "I'm a paralegal but I tend to focus on case that concern our people, or help our people understand processes." She shrugs "As a Cadre we tend to keep an eye out for people who might need help or motivation and see how we can help. We plan pranks, or to acquire a snake."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy snags a cup, looking apprehensive. "Can I, uh, request a no-prank situation? I'm... not sure I'm up for that kind of thing right now." They pour themselves coffee and add a dollop of cream and enough sugar that it's probably precipitating out of solution.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Of course." Jeremiah nodded, smiling a touch as he saw that Nevy also preferred some coffee with their sugar.

Kayla Sockum: "Oh I'll take mine with two sugar and milk, thank you and please." She comment rapidly and smile, then turn to Nevermore. "Don't worry, only currently planned prank is not happening to you or in your presence." a beat. "Hmm, what do you normally do when you're at home? Watch TV? computer stuff? Art?"

Nevermore Usher: They shrug one shoulder. "I draw, I read, I work on poetry, I watch TV... I don't have much time for video games, but I use the computer for my instagram and that..."

Jeremiah Hamilton: Kay's cup was fixed up and handed to her in short order, with Jeremiah settling into his seat soon after. He remained quiet for the moment, content to listen as the other two talked.

Kayla Sockum: Kay takes the cup between her hand and sips from it slowly, smiling at the taste of it and she leans a little bit against the armrest. "Thank you." she then shift her attention back to Nevermore "We'll get you the wifi password." a little laugh. "Did you bring a laptop or something?" a beat "or did you have any questions or worries for this?"

Nevermore Usher: Nevy smiles. "I appreciate it. Yeah, I want to keep up my instagram, if I can. Make it harder to tell anything's going on." They look strained. "I mean... of course I have worries. There's so many people trapped down there - including Auntie."

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah gave a solemn nod, offering a hand to Nevy in an attempt to comfort the medium. "With any luck Maddy and the rest of us should be able to pin down where they are, and maybe just portal them out directly. Not sure what precautions the things that took them might have put up against that kind of thing, though, so we'll see."

Kayla Sockum: Kay nods and sigh, not much she can actually do for this particular situation and she slowly works on her coffee and her K shaped pretzel. So she's quiet for just a moment as she let them talk about the current topic, considering her oncoming options.

Nevermore Usher: Nevermore nods. "You're working with Maddy on that?" They riffle through their satchel. "I was able to make a couple more protective amulets - should keep anyone from being Claimed, if there are spirits involved. I gave one to Maddy already, but I have another three more I can lend for the cause." They hesitate and touch the one at their own neck. "...Four," They say.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmhmm. She'll be taking point on it since she's more skilled at that kind of work than I am at the moment but I'll be there to offer back up." He nodded, eyeing the pendant around Nevy' neck. "You should keep that one, just in case. Imagine the others will be put to good use, though."

Kayla Sockum: "I'll be right back." Kay drains the rest of her coffee and moves toward one the door, opening and closing it as she climbs stairs, likely to go grab someting in her room, sound of a chair raking on the floor is heard above her head.

Nevermore Usher: Nevy nods. "Do you want them right now, or...?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah looked up to Kay as she got up and headed out, watching her a moment before looking back to Nevy. "Nah, can get them later. Far as I know Maddy's getting things prepped so we probably won't be making a go at it tonight."

Kayla Sockum: Kayla comes back down a few moments later in a different set of clothes: white tanktop and a pair of sweat pants, her necklace around her neck, the symbol hidden in the tanktop still. "Do you mind if I use a bit of magic, Nevy? Nothing on you or that would give me any knowledge on you."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy nods to Jeremiah. "Okay. Let me know, when you're ready. I want to help, as much as I can." They look to Kayla. "That's fine. I'm... you don't need to warn me every time you do the magical version of blowing your nose or anything?" They give a little smile. "I'm not a complete newcomer to this. I do talk with ghosts, right?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Will do." Jeremiah nodded with a smile, which only grew at Nevy's following comment. "What're you thinking, Kay?" He looked up to his cadremate.

Kayla Sockum: "just something to feel a little lighter" she smiles.

Nevermore Usher: Nevy tilts their head, curious now about what Kay might wind up doing.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah looked curious himself, taking a sip of his coffee as he watched Kay over the rim of his cup.

Kayla Sockum: Kay traces the contour of the covered star of David around her neck and repeatedly make the motion to close her eyes, she doesn't chant. Suddenly she disappears from before their eyes but her voice is heard. "I am now like a ghost, in twilight."

Nevermore Usher: Nevy blinks. "Okay..." They say.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah's eyebrows shot up as Kay vanished into the aether, setting the coffee cup down. "That's a new one..."

Kayla Sockum: "usually I do this when I sleep on my own, when I feel like not having a body" an ethereal chuckles

Nevermore Usher: Nevy looks vaguely in the voice's direction. "That doesn't... get disorienting? Not having a body?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Have to wonder..." Jeremiah looked intrigued more than anything, unfamiliar with this particular branch of magic as he was.

Kayla Sockum: "some days I feel like having a body is disorienting on its own" she explains "if you wish, I could cast the spell on you two if you want the experience? I'd use a shorter duration though"

Nevermore Usher: Nevy shakes their head. "Not tonight. Honestly, I think I need to just... spend some time being Nevy the Person, rather than Nevy the Magical Apprentice Who Needs To Learn All The Things."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Yeah...I'll pass for the moment too, I think. Color me intrigued, though." He nodded in Kay's rough direction before looking back to Nevy with a small, warm smile. "Sounds like a plan to me. Got anything in mind on that front?"

Kayla Sockum: "oh!" Kay exclaim "certainly, would you prefer I return to my physical form?" she ask empathetic to Nevermore

Nevermore Usher: Nevy shakes their head. "You can do what you want. I'm not trying to tell you what you can do with yourself. Just... what I'm comfortable with, for me. They consider Jeremiah's question. "Have you guys ever played Betrayal at House on the Hill?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Can't say that I have...sounds interesting, though. Board game, I'm guessing?"

Kayla Sockum: "I've never heard of it" Kay says "is that what it is?"

Nevermore Usher: Nevy grins and pulls a large cardboard box out of their duffel. On the cover is the silhouette of an eerie house, seeming to glower at the viewer beneath a sickly greenish moon. "Yep. We're all exploring a haunted house, finding mystical items and experiencing strange omens. But... perhaps... one of us is more than that. A traitor, just biding their time to backstab their fellows for their own nefarious reasons..." They let out an evil chuckle.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah chuckled, looking over the box. "Sounds like fun."

Kayla Sockum: "that sounds like a hoot to play, does it play with dices?" she asks with a soft laugh

Nevermore Usher: Nevy opens the box to reveal a couple booklets, some dice, and a few baggies full of game tokens, all of which are set aside. They pull out 3 sets of cards, one of which they hand to their fellows while they keep one for themself. "Can you guys help me shuffle these and the room tiles? Make sure you keep the entryway out separate."

Later On...

Kayla Sockum: Kay is on the couch singing a little bit, she is entirely in twilight form. So mostly invisible. "eye of the tiiigerrrr"

Mary Toombs: Mary makes her way in, dressed in tank top and shrots and bare foot as is her wont. She blinks at the singing and looks around until she locates Kay. "Now that's an interesting and fairly neat trick.."

Kayla Sockum: "I didn't feel like having my body" she says invisblle mostly "then people went to sleep." she chuckle "could you help me?" she sounds happy

Mary Toombs: Mary mock pouts."I'll have to settle for your voice then." She notes with a stuck out tongue. "And I suppose I could try." A quiet laugh. "What would you like help with?"

Kayla Sockum: "When I transfer back to normal, could you change me into something else?" Kay asks "until it's time to go to bed at least? Please." she add very gently "or, I could have you join me"

Mary Toombs: "Of course." She settles near the source of Key's voice, getting comfortable. "What would you like to be? Don't leave it up to me, I'd turn you into a sloth or something and add to the picture compilation."

Kayla Sockum: Kay materialize from thin air and takes a seat in her lap. White tank top, black sweatpants with her star of David around her neck.

"I think I'd like something like a cat."

Mary Toombs: Mary smiles, kissing her neck lightly. "How fluffy and how big? I'm guessing not a sphinx, they're careless. And a bengal tiger would be a bit too big."

Kayla Sockum: "hmm a black one with short hair." she leans forward and kiss her cheeks "thank you for indulging me"

Mary Toombs: "I enjoy indulging you." Mary notes, leaning into those kisses. "Alrighty then." She raises her hands, chanting as spell weaving happens. And Kay shrinks down, leaving slowly crumpling clothes behind. Grinning, Mary ads another spell in, so she can communicate with the Moros. https://www.purina.co.uk/sites/g/files/mcldtz2481/files/2019-07/Amazing%20Black%20Cat%20Breeds.jpg

Kayla Sockum: Kay immediately tries to lick her paw and clean herself but falls off the lap without any of the typical grace a cat normally possess. She remains on the ground and turns on her back and meows, terribly.

Mary Toombs: Putting a hand to her mouth to stifle a giggle Mary stands, gathering and folding up Kay's clothing neatly. Once that's done she crouches, patting her lightly. "The cat knows. Trust her."

Kayla Sockum: Kay spends just a moment to get on all of her four paws and then does a little stretching pattern that all cat does, then licks her nose and gives a little bit better of a meow, she start to try and walk, which is a bit of a silly sight as humans and cat legs are not the same.

Mary Toombs: Mary lifts her legs up onto the couch, lying down and resting her head on her arm to watch the cat with a wry grin, getting more comfy. "You're adorable." She muses lazily.

Kayla Sockum: Kay soon learns the intricacies of the different leg and start moving about rapidly, then into a run, meowing out loud a few times. She tries to jump from the ground and onto the couch and manages it just fine. She is searching something in the stack of clothes that Mary has made with hers. She withdraws her necklace from it.

Mary Toombs: "I can understand you if you try speaking." Mary tells her, smiling. She pats her as she hops on the couch, stroking her back and watching as she tugs out the Star of David. "Do you want to hold onto that, or for me to put it anywhere?" She asks.

Kayla Sockum: Cat!Kay has a mischievous little glint in her eyes as she starts to play with the pendant with her paw, making little biscuit on the couch around it in sort of a ritualistic fashion, she even begin purring. Is she casting something ?

Mary Toombs: Mary cants her head curiously and grins thoughtfully, taking care to not interrupt and simply watching as she stretches out on the couch.

Kayla Sockum: Something weird happens, the cat's eyes closes and when they open, they're human eyes. Then, Mary feels her spells break. Kayla transforms back into a human and falls down the couch, naked but eyes wide. "Holy shit!" (Dispel magic successful and Lasting)

Mary Toombs: Mary blinks at that, shaking her head to clear it. "Oh, wow. That's. Wait." She slowly blinks again and sits up. "That means you've.." And then she's laughing and hugging Kay tightly. "Welcome to the Primal Wild." Drawing back she offers an impish look. "Delightful as you look, you should cover up, just in case Nevy or someone else wanders in."

Kayla Sockum: Kay sits down on the couch, putting on a shirt first and then her sweat pants and then grabs her star of David and put it around her neck. "Hi, I'm a Life Initiate now." She point to the kitchen. "Heather made pretzels, soft kind. Also one of them look like a butt."

Mary Toombs: Mary giggles, ducking her head. "Did you tell her that? Did she blush?" A kiss to Kay's cheek. "You are." She agrees. "And it's wonderful."

Kayla Sockum: "I think it's on purpose." A little laugh and she gives Mary a warm, warm hug, kissing her cheek in return. "Grab one and then we can do something if you want to do anything?"

Mary Toombs: "Mm." She smiles and hugs Kay lightly, standing and padding to the kitchen to nab a couple of pretzels. "I feel like doing something lazy, maybe. Like sticking a film on and just snuggling? But did you have anything in mind?"

Kayla Sockum: "Snuggling works, just let me grab a hoodie and make the room cold, okay?" Kay asks and smile standing up and stretching her arms out, giving Mary a hug, firm and strong. "Bed or couch? Or Hallow? Where you want the cuddle?"

Mary Toombs: "Couch please?" She asks, returning the hug and resting her head against Kay happily. "In case others wander through and want to join us?"

Kayla Sockum: She nods and kiss her cheek and quickly move to grab a hoodie from the nearest closet, she wears it loose and large and covers her head with it. Then lay down beside Mary, she cast a spell on herself and the temperature around Kay drops, but just around herself. "Hmm, much better."

Mary Toombs: "Why do you do that?" Mary asks curiously, snuggling in closer. "Does it help with magic, or focus for you?"

Kayla Sockum: "Why do I do what exactly?" She asks curiously, looking over her shoulder to look at Mary's face. "Because there's a lot of stuff I just did that could refer to."

Mary Toombs: "Drop the temperature for yourself." Mary clarifies, hugging her from behind. "And what would you like to watch?"

Kayla Sockum: "Because the Hoodie is making it too hot." Kay answers honestly, and she seems to clearly realize there's likely a follow up question there, but waits until its asked to answer it. "Hmm, maybe some documentaries?"

Mary Toombs: "Oh, you just like wearing the hoodie?" Mary smiles. "That fits." She nods contently, then muses in agreement. "Blue Planet? Anything with David Attenborough?"

Kayla Sockum: "Hmm, sure, all of those." She nods and she shake her head. "No, I just don't feel like seeing my body right now." she kiss her chin. "And no, telling me i'm beautiful won't fix it." she chuckles. "Just, I think it relate to the disconnecting I mentioned the other day." a soft wag of her eyebrow.

Mary Toombs: "Well, you are." Mary answers stubbornly, but nods. "I'm with you." She tells her simply, hugging lightly before she leans forward, hunting through dvds to put one in and start the show up.

Kayla Sockum: Kay rest her head on Mary and watches the TV and smiles. "Don't put the volume too high, I don't know how... deep Nevy sleeps." she smiles a little bit.

Mary Toombs: "That's fair." Mary nods, lowering it a little. "Not good manners to wake our new guest up from the start." She kisses Kay's hair, getting comfortable.

Kayla Sockum: "How are you doing?" she asks, curious and smiling there, reaching up to take both of Mary's hand to kiss them in turn and keep the arms linked to them around her.

"I mean, with the whole situation?"

Mary Toombs: Mary closes her eyes, nodding. "Keeping it together. Maddy's putting a rescue effort together and asked me to join. So I'm focusing on that. but I worry for her and the others down there. Dandy's strong as hell though."

Kayla Sockum: "I'll do my best not to worry, but I can't garantee success." she moves around a little to be able to give Mary a gently, loving kiss and then focus her attention directly to the screen. while tracing circles on her girlfriend's hands.

Mary Toombs: "Me neither." Mary admits, half closing her eyes and getting comfortable. "She's family and we love her. Worrying is natural."

Kayla Sockum: She nods, kissing the spot she's been cirlcing with her fingers and bury her head right against Mary's tummy.
