Soulwardens' Sanctum

Log

Occurs on June 8th, 2020

Heather Williams: The Soulwardens kitchen was a bright and cozy place, something always smelled delicious in here, usually like caramelized sugar and bread rising. Hearth was sitting at the table, a picture of relaxation as she read from a tablet. Beneath the window, a bowl say covered with a damp cloth.

Kayla Sockum: Kayla enters the kitchen with a curious little gleam in her eyes. "Heather?" She whispers "Is there a suspicious cat that's not Jay's in here?" she asks in a conspirational manner. she's wearing a bright yellow sundress.

Heather Williams: "No cats here," she laughed. "Pull up a seat. I've been dying to ask you about this idea you had three other night."

Kayla Sockum: She slides into the seat next to Heather and kiss her cheek in greeting, she keeps the conspiratorial whispering up. "Mary said a jokey mean thing to me while we were at Maddy's and I want to escalate things a little." she grins.

Heather Williams: Heather grinned. "How much escalation are you talking about here? Because you should always leave room for future escalation."

Kayla Sockum: "I was thinking maybe a pie that taste weird, but then I realized that just means I should make the pie and that's no fun for anyone." She grins. "So, maybe a pie that has some special abilities?"

Heather Williams: "Definitely doable," I can do that sleep practically in my sleep so it's really more a question of what spell you want to put on her."

Kayla Sockum: She smiles and rubs her hand together, leaning affectionately against Heather's side. "Do you have any suggestions?"

Heather Williams: "What did she say?"

Kayla Sockum: "I mentioned wanting to go into the underworld." She smiles and shrug. "And then she said something about me going there being a mean thing to do to those who reside there." She pouts, exaggerated.

Heather Williams: Heather smirked. "Zombie mice?" She suggested.

Kayla Sockum: She pouts "I think I'd prefer something maybe actually funny and comical? Zombie mouse implies I'm killing a mouse and I'm not happy about that." she chuckles. "Maybe a spell that turns her incorporeal for a while? I know that one."

Heather Williams: "Oooh that's a great idea! Just make sure your present in case of an emergency."

Kayla Sockum: "Oh I was fully planning on just, giving the thing to her myself and not let a dangerous thing like that go around. Wouldn't want Jay or Alexis wandering ephemeral for a few days." she chuckles

Jeremiah Hamilton: Speak of the Mastigos and he shall appear, it seemed, as almost right on cue Jeremiah meandered into the kitchen on his way towards the fridge, humming quietly to himself as he mentally worked through a new chord progression. Spotting the pair already present he paused with his hand on the handle to said fridge, looking them over with a smile. "What are you two up to?"

Kayla Sockum: "Secret shenanigans and revenge." She make a hushing motion with her finger, grinning up at Jay, moving to hug him too. "Which I figured Heather would be perfect to help me with."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Shenanigns, eh? Count me in." He replied with a grin, gladly giving Kay a hug when she came his way. "What's the plan, and who's it for?"

Kayla Sockum: "Mary, because she was jokey mean to me, I want to escalate for fun." She grins "So this pie will turn her into an intangible thing." Kay grins. "Well, shunt her into twilight."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ooh...nice. Did that once or twice while I was learning the ropes in LA, should be interesting."

Kayla Sockum: "Great!" She grins "How're you by the way? I've been sort of lured into maybe trying table top RPGs earlier today so, that's a new experience to go through, I suppose?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Going well, all told. Got some of Nevermore's new pieces up at the Green Room, and they are stunning. You have to come and see the one they did for Dandelion, it's top notch." He smiled warmly, eyebrow quirking a touch at the mention of getting her nerd on. "Really...have fun with that."

Kayla Sockum: "Do you think you or Alexis could be interested?" Turn to Heather "And Heather too, if you want." she then bump shoulder with Jay.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Maybe? I had friends who played but never really got into it myself. Alexis might, though...worth asking, anyway."

Kayla Sockum: "I'll ask her next time I see her." She grins "And yeah Nevermore's really nice, been hanging around with them a bit lately." She smiles. "Trying to understand them, how they view things. It's kind of humbling in a way."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Oh?" Curious Mastigos is curious. "How so?"

Kayla Sockum: "The way we approach things with people can change a lot." She shrugs and smiles "They made it clear that he's met a few people they don't particularly appreciate the 'coming down from above' approach. Which has a lot to do with how we do things."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Yeah...I can imagine." He shook his head with a quiet frown. "I've never understood that viewpoint, honestly, odd as that may sound coming from a thearch. Anything that allows someone to see past the Lie, even a little, is worth celebrating and encouraging, not to be buried in 'you're not as good as we are' bull."

Kayla Sockum: "I'm wanting to understand their gift. The way it works for them." She nods "I managed to convince Nevy to let me cast some investigative magic on them, shared everything I could. Just need to find a ghost for them to speak to to show me how they do it. Maybe I could make one." She ponders.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "You could, in theory...that's your department, but using one that's in-place may be a better idea for making sure they're comfortable with it. From what they've said to me, they're concerned that all any of us see looking at them is the shiny new Sleepwalker to recruit and not Nevermore Usher the person; I told her straight up that who they are and what they do with the gifts they've been given matters more to me than the fact they have them, but I can't say how much they believe me on that front."

Kayla Sockum: "It would also be kind of dangerous, which is how I viewed the approach of meeting with one that already exist." She tap on her chin with her index finger. "And yeah I can see why they'd think that," she seems lost in thoughts for a moment.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Best we can do is lead by example and hope that others follow. I want them to feel comfortable and for them to know that they stand on the shoulders of the same giants as we do."

Kayla Sockum: She bump shoulders with Jay "Thanks and yeah" she grabs herself a box of juice from the fridge. "Want anything from in there while I'm looking?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I...did come in here for a drink, but hell if I can remember what now." He chuckled, following her to the fridge and looking over the content over her shoulder to jog his memory. "Right! One of the mango teas, please."

Kayla Sockum: "I approve." She gives him what he's looking for and easily move out of his way to make it easier for him to do whatever else he wishes to. "is your cat a familiar or just really cool?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: He chuckled at the question, claiming his bottle of tea and moving to lean against the counter as he opened it. "He's a normal cat, just mostly blind. Picked him up from a shelter in town not long after I got here. What made you think he was a familiar?"

Kayla Sockum: "He looks like Merlin turned into a cat." A shrugs and smiles "He looks positively supernal in every way." Kay speaks with some form of admiration. "I still want to go and grab a snake friend."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah...gotcha." He smirked, giving a little nod as he took a sip of his tea. "I'm game for coming with when you do if I'm not busy."

Kayla Sockum: "That'd be great!" She grins a little bit there and bounce. "I know we should probably bring everyone in there too."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not a bad idea if we can swing it." He smiled at her obvious exuberance. "As long as what you get isn't big enough to go after Tiresias, mind..."

Kayla Sockum: "I don't think that would be the case, but I'd be using life to maybe be able to speak and interact with the snake at that point." Kay says with a nod "I'm almost there too, I'm almost sure one more push is going to do it."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Best of luck." He nodded with a smile. "Which reminds me, I need to get checked off for second-degree disciple with Space...finally worked out a few kinks there to hit the next tier."

Kayla Sockum: "So you can teleport us places now?" She asks with a grin, bumping shoulders with him.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmhmm." He grinned in turn, giving her a little bump back. "Still practicing that one, mind, but I'm looking forward to using it."

Kayla Sockum: She chuckles and grins. "Alright!" She leans agains Jay a little bit and smiles "Did you write anything new music wise?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "In progress. Was working on it before I came down here to get some air, as it were." He smirked. "It's coming along pretty well, though."

Kayla Sockum: "What's it about? Or Who is it for?" She ask with a curious gleam in her eyes.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Good question...the lyrics are still forming up."

Kayla Sockum: "Can I watch you work? I'd have to leave you alone for a bit after a while to come and help heather with the pie." a gentle smile. "I like watching you work on your song, it's always a delight."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sure." He smiled and motioned for her to follow, heading towards his own corner of the sanctum. While his proper recording equipment was at the studio above the cafe he still had a decent set-up in his room, with a keyboard and guitar on hand and his laptop set up nearby to make adjustments to the sheet music as needed. Tiresias, for his part, was curled up on the bed, looking rather content on the pillow.

Kayla Sockum: Kayla gently pet the cat, greeting it with a soft kiss to its head, which earns her a paw to her face and a cat activation noise. Then turn her attention to Jay, taking a seat wherever seemed acceptable. Smiling and rolling her shoulders.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Kayla was free to claim a spot on the bed or at the chair at his desk, whichever was more comfortable for her. He retook his seat at the keyboard, taking another pull from the bottle of tea before he sat it to the side. "I will admit," he commented as he eyed the sheet music on the laptop to confirm where he had left off, "it would be kind of interesting to talk with Tiresias myself. Life is on my list to study at some point, if only because the Path has steps that utilizes it."

Kayla Sockum: "What kind of use does it have for Life?" She asks, curious, her eyes gleaming in some ways familiar and not, like this interest was pushing beyond certain mundane limit. "Do you know?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "A deeper scrutiny of the lifeforms around you, heightened senses...things to both enhance your ability to perceive the truth around you as well as bring that truth forward."

Kayla Sockum: "Hmmm, So like a spell but one that doesn't suffer the lie, right?" She consider for a moment. "I'm slowly considering what I'm going to do and I'm pretty sure I'll end up forming my own legacy."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmhmm. And the main steps on the path help to grant that sight to others through the lens of the Supernal. Still on the first step myself, but I'm working on it." He replied with a small smile, then looked towards Kayla curiously. "Really...that takes some pretty heavy lifting."

Kayla Sockum: "It does. I know. I... I can't help but feel something about it, it just draws my mind. I thought about becoming a Stone Scribe and I felt so...." Kay takes a deep breath. "Unmoved by it? What little I know of it left me with something of a desire to push for my own idea."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah...gotcha." He nodded quietly. "Sometimes you have to find a new path that fits you better than the one you're on. Best of luck, and if there's anything we can do to help let us know."

Kayla Sockum: "I will ask when I do need help, don't worry." Kay reaches out and poke at Jay for a bit, hugging her knees after ward. "I can tell you the mushroom in the Hallow helped me figure it out."

Jeremiah Hamilton: He smirked at the poke, leaning over a bit to boop her knee in return. "Oh? How so?"

Kayla Sockum: "I come to realize that things we thought lost might not be. Even if they can't be recovered in their specific form, there's still something to be getting there, you know?" she explains. "Like, I felt bad for eating the fruit from Peacekeeper for a while and now I realize, I might have something about me that contains part of that wisdom and mystery?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Yeah, I follow you. Nothing's ever really gone, whether it be as a memory or a mark left in the fabric of the world and the Temeros. Can see building something around that idea, for sure."

Kayla Sockum: "So yeah, I can see my soul and will changing with that, but I need Life for that." She grins lightly and roll her shoulders there.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Right. Hope you get it figured out." He smiled warmly, finally turning his attention back to the keyboard. "Where was I..."

Kayla Sockum: She stick her tongue out and quiets down, starting at the keyboard as he returns to playing music or working on it.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "What?" He looked back to her with a smirk. "You wanted to see me at work, which involves me actually working."

Kayla Sockum: "I'm watching." She grins and shrug "I image me bothering you isn,t super conductive to your creativity." Kay laughs.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Eh..." He replied, rocking his hand back and forth in a 'so-so' fashion before grinning. "I enjoy the company, and having a second set of ears on a new piece is never a bad thing." June 9, 2020

Kayla Sockum: Kay nods and she scoots a little closer to Jay to watch what he's doing in more details. "So, how does this thing go?" she asks.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Something like this, at least so far..." He turned back to the keyboard, placing his hands just so above the keys before he began to play. It was a chill little tune all around, something one could see playing in the background at a club between sets.

Kayla Sockum: She sway a little bit from side to side, maybe attempting to follow the melody or beat. "Very relaxing, I like the mood of it."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Glad you like it. May keep it as an instrumental, honestly...something to run through the system at work, maybe."

Kayla Sockum: "Do you have a name for it? Sirius's Magnificent Elevator Music?" She suggest with a bit too much theatrics.

Jeremiah Hamilton: He let out a little snort of laughter at that, shaking his head with a smirk. "Not yet...will figure something out, though."

Kayla Sockum: "I know you will." She grins and pokes at the cat again, getting another paw in the face and a louder meow. "Enlightened Mediation Music. 10 Hour loop on youtube." She jokes a bit, but seems to also be partially serious.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Yeah...I could, if it works out right. Got a few songs up on there." He chuckled, eyeing Kayla when Tireseas batted at her. "He's going to give you the business someday, you know..."

Kayla Sockum: "Hopefully, I'll manage to speak to him before then." She scoots away from the cat and pout at the feline, then turn her attention toward Jay again. "You need to link me."

Jeremiah Hamilton: He gave the username with a small smirk. "That's the more recent one, and before you ask I'm not telling you my old channel from when I was in LA."

Kayla Sockum: "Why not?" She grins, amused at the the sudden need for secrecy. "It's not like i'd use it for bad stuff?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Cringe levels are way too high." He shook his head, still smirking a touch. "That and...honestly, I was an ass back then."

Kayla Sockum: "I'm glad you got better." Kay smiles. "Not like I didn't have some bad times when I was younger and not so younger either."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I am too. Wasn't the most pleasant experience, mind you, but it was worth it in the long run."

Kayla Sockum: She stand up and come up to give him a warm hug from the side before returning to her seat. "Thanks for letting me watch it. Want more of my amazing insight on writing this song?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: He smiled at the hug, leaning into it before she moved back to her seat. "Go right ahead."

Kayla Sockum: "I think maybe you're writing something chill and calm because that's what you want to feel like and maybe you should really lean into that." She stand up and massage his shoulder, "Free your mind and let the chill flow."
