Log

Kay pays close attention to their surrounding as she steps inside Maddy's for the first time in a little while, leaving a little note in the suggestion bucket to the intent of said Maddy running the place. A comfortable black turtleneck, a pair of grey slacks and some heeled shoes gives them a cozy, if formal appearance. Magic is woven into the pattern (Prime, Life)

Kay reviews their phone a few times, gaze wandering between the menu, the screen and the area the portal leads in. As if waiting on someone

Is it Fox? Is Fox who is being waited upon? Because Fox is already here! Of course it might be difficult to know it is Fox, because the creature sitting on the table right now and eating its way through a giant plate full of pancakes and banana and apple slices is

One (1) red panda.

There are several clues that it is Fox, however, but the biggest is that Fox's ubiquitous backpack sits on the seat, and that the panda stops and makes a crackling little call when Kay arrives.

One of the spells Kay has come to use in their daily rituals was the speak with Beast one. It's all too common for them to have conversation with animals of many kinds now, sometimes even people transformed as such. Hello there, mind if I join you? It was Fox they expected, the little cackling sound drawing their attention to the little shapeshifter.

I would be happy if you joined me, agrees RedPandaFox, reaching for a slice of apple and holding it up toward Kay in offering. Presuming that it's taken, she reaches to take a chunk of banana and holds it between her little black paws and nibbles on it. How are you tonight, Kay?

I'm doing okay! Kay accepts the slice of apple and examines it for a brief moment before consuming it rapidly. Grabbing the menu and deciding rapidly on what they'd want. I've been pushing a bit further with some research I set aside for a bit.

Kay then place a rapid order when the waiter comes by. Coffee and some pancakes. what about you and yours?

Tell me about your research? Fox asks, carefully picking up a pancake and rolling it up in their little furry paws. Chomp chomp chomp. Red pandas aren't really made to eat pancakes, but that's what makes it an adventure! The syrup sort of sticks on her fur.

Kay seems rather amused by the display of skill from the red panda in the eating of pancakes. Maybe if it was smaller you could grab it? they comment, pointing at the pancakes.

New rotes from a grimoire I've had in my possession for a while they set the plate they receive on the table, avoiding imposing in Fox's space. Finally grasping the basics of Time, to help with my prophetic dreams and then pushing my understanding of Matter when I tried to apply some...empathic processes to materials

Maybe, but that would be kind of missing the point of the exercise. The question was 'how would a red panda eat pancakes' and the anwer is apparently 'quite badly, really.' Fox manages to use her little paws with the thumbs that can change direction and roll the pancake up into a tube, which she then proceeds to eat like it's a stalk of bamboo. Omnomnomnom. She listens thoughtfully.

Empathic processes? Fox asks. Please explain? I love playing with Matter.

I got the idea from listen to Mary and others speak about Spirit magic. How everything has a spiritual resonance and possibly a conscience you can access with it. Kay summarizes. Then eat some food with fork and knife.

Trying to feel what matters feels like, how it exists, the purposes and trying to form an imago from the thoughts formed out of that. Another bite off of their plate, no more coffee left. Not exactly the standard approach for Moros to matter. But I always did had a strong emotional connection to the Arcana and it impaired my understanding of it for a long time.

chompchompchompchomp. She's got syrup all over her fur. Maybe she'll just Matter it away. Maybe she'll make Vasha wash her. She's never been a wet red panda before! (And if she tries it, she'll find out why June gets really annoyed on hair-washing day.)

And what have you learned? Fox seems fascinated by this approach to Matter.

Kay has, for a brief moment, the mental image of Leta being the one to do the cleaning and it seem sufficiently entertaining to bring a smile to their lips.

On a practical level: How to transubtantiate matter into life and vice-versa in an efficient manner and how to keep my clothes when I shapeshift. A short beat. On a metaphysical level, It's difficult to put into words. Placing a personal importance to an object isn't enough to influence it, but the act of even wanting to understand an inanimate point of view of the universe can bring your own mind in alignment with ... something that will affect it and empower of Imago.

She finishes her pancakes and spends the next several minutes carefully licking her paws, which really only succeeds in very thoroughly covering her excessively thick fur with syrup. Fox stares at her paws, and then -- reflexively -- holds her arms up as if the syrup was attacking her. But then she remembers not to do that, and instead reaches for a chunk of banana, listening.

Oh, yes, that's a very important thing to know, agrees Fox, though she says it in a way that's more like 'yes, it's important to know to turn on your turn signal when you turn left in a car.' Not dismissively, just a sort of 'of course,' like, yeah, obviously. Have you tried being an object yet?

No, I'm still looking into the kind of preparation I should make for that Kay says with little push of their plates, having gotten their fill. Like, if I need some kind of mind alteration or a reach to appl or risk actually becoming a rock.

It's pretty much exactly the same as being an animal, Fox answers, it just takes a bit more reach so that you don't lose yourself. A little more stress on staying yourself. She continues eating apples and bananas, and she's well and truly made a horrible mess of herself, but she doesn't really seem to mind. It's nice though.(edited)

Good, means I won't be throwing it out instantly, at least not for a first time try. Pushing my stuff too far is getting to be a lot They comment, flexing each of their finger in turn.
