Vampire/Approval Procedures

From From Dusk till Jawn

These are the approval procedures for the Vampire sphere on From Dusk Till Jawn.

It is permissible (and ideal) for a background to be as short as a handful of bullet points as long as the following items are covered:

Vampire Background Review

  1. Where the character was born and grew up
  2. Embrace details
    1. What city they were embraced in
      1. If Philly, was the embrace with or without permission? If without, and after 1891, their sire is probably dead.
    2. The age of the character when they were embraced
    3. How and why the character was embraced
    4. The identity of their sire (name, covenant, bloodline)
    5. Whether their sire is still alive
  3. How did the character join their covenant? Is it the first covenant they joined?
    1. If the character was previously part of another covenant, what were the circumstances of their changing?
  4. Which family is the character a part of?

Ghoul Background Review

Note: New ghoul characters are only allowed to serve PCs.

  1. Where the character was born and grew up
  2. Ghouling details
    1. Who is the character's regnant? Is this their first regnant?
    2. Where were they ghouled?
    3. The age of the character when they were ghouled

Sheet Review

  1. Status of all kinds is capped at 3 for vampires
  2. If the character is from another city and not part of a family, Status (City) is capped at 1
  3. For ghouls, City status is capped at 1 at chargen, and clan and covenant status are not available except for Status (Carthian Movement) at 1 if the regnant is Carthian.
  4. Purchase of Auspex, Dominate, Majesty, Nightmare, or Protean if it isn't a clan or bloodline discipline requires a teacher who knows it. For ghouls, use the regnant's clan.
    1. Who did they learn each dot from?
    2. If their Blood Potency is less than 6, they must roll Resolve + Composure - 1 to check for vitae addiction for each such dot of Disciplines.
  5. Check for their free dot of Attributes based on clan or bloodline
  6. Check the math on the sheet
    1. 2.0 has flat costs.
  7. Check Willpower, Defense, Speed, and Humanity
    1. Make sure that these factor in the character's Vigor, Resilience, and Celerity
  8. Check for Mask & Dirge (or Breaking Points for Ghouls)
  9. Check for Touchstone(s)
  10. Review mundane equipment
    1. All custom mundane items must follow the custom item guide.

Finishing Steps

  1. A basic wiki is mandatory for approval.
  2. Vampires must have the following. Ghouls should have the following if applicable:
    1. Name (whatever name or names other characters will call them)
    2. Clan (and dots of Status)
    3. Covenant (and dots of Status)
    4. Dots of Status (City)
    5. Family
    6. Categories set for Clan, Covenant, Family, and Bloodline, so the page populates in all the right places
    7. Please make sure they haven't copied the template from the NPC page -- that's only used for NPCs.
    8. Any easily-seen/understood/noticeable merits/effects (e.g. Striking Looks. If you can see its effects when you look at a character or if they affect most/all interactions, it should be on the wiki. We don't need someone's Resources 5 on there, but we DO need stuff that other characters will easily notice. This includes how the Nosferatu curse manifests, for Nosferatu)
    9. 3 RP Hooks. They don't have to be much, but they should be SOMETHING for other players to say 'ahha, we can RP together because you sometimes hang out at Bob's Bar/you're from New York and I was once there'
    10. Any covenant positions.
  3. If your PC has a Safe Place or Haven, complete the Safe Place sheet located here.
  4. Once the sheet is ready, make a copy of the sheet to the FDTJ Google account
  5. Set the 'approved' role on the Discord
