Maddy's Wafflehouse

Log

Asbolus: Asbolus had laid claim to one of the booths with a good view of both the entry portal and the mundane door, although by all appearances he was focused on the newspaper in front of him. The Darkling was dressed simply in jeans and a grey t-shirt, a cup of tea at easy reach while he read.

Adam Harken: Thespis was finding people watching at Maddy's was a delightful past time, enjoyable with a cup of coffee. He was wearing one of his casual suits today, upon seeing the new face he shrugged and made his way over.

"Mind if I sat with you?"

Asbolus: Asbolus glanced up almost before Thespis began moving, giving him a nod as he put aside his paper to be polite. "Feel free." His accent was pure London if the Guardian had an ear for such things, undimmed by his time on this side of the pond. "Asbolus, pleasure to meet you."

Adam Harken: "Adam Harkin," he replies, offering a hand, "Pleasure to meet you," he smiles, "How long have you been out of London?"

Asbolus: Asbolus smiled as he took the offered hand and shook it. "About a decade at this point. Good ear you have."

Adam Harken: "When you've been in the business as long as I have, it's important to know where folks come from, helps define their tastes and what they consume."

Asbolus: "What sort of business is that, pray tell?" He took a sip of his tea, looking the mage over curiously.

Adam Harken: "Entertainment," he hands Asbolus a card, "Talent Agency to be specific, moved here from LA last week."

Asbolus: "Ah...interesting." He took the offered card, looking it over before pocketing it. "Is there a particular type of talent you focus on?"

Adam Harken: "Acting," he says, "I tried going into acting but found I was better with making connections," he shrugs, "Still do amateur work, looking into local community theaters."

Asbolus: "Is that so..." He replied with a small smirk, amused by the handy bit of kismet. "I happen to be the manager at a theater here in town."

Adam Harken: his eyes widen at that, "Then I thank fate for this meeting," he smiles, "If a new member is welcomed, especially one who still has some friends in Hollywood."

Asbolus: "That can certainly be arranged. We're between productions at the moment, but I can let you know when we're ramping up again." He took a slim notebook from his pocket and wrote down his number, offering it to the mage. "What brought you to Philadelphia, out of curiosity?"

Adam Harken: "Politics," he says, "Awakened politics, it was made clear I was no longer welcomed in Los Angeles, through no fault of my own mind you. . .sometimes your just guilty by association."

Asbolus: "Sorry to hear that." He nodded quietly, thanking the server who came by with his omelet and giving Thespis time to order if he wished before continuing. "I've found the city to be quite welcoming myself, especially among those who are able to frequent this place."

Adam Harken: Thespis asked for scrambled eggs and bacon, "I've been adjusting to the fact these city is much more. . .opening to cooperation then others, something that I have to adjust my normal outlook but I'm adapting well all things considered."

Asbolus: "Good to hear. I've only had experience here as far as the wider community is concerned, admittedly, but seeing the connections forged here I'm rather glad for that fact." He took a few polite bites of his omelet, following it off with some tea. "We all have our own skills to bring to the table when larger issues arise."

Adam Harken: "Such as robotic police officers." he inquires

Asbolus: "Indeed." He shook his head quietly. "Quite the mess that is."

Adam Harken: "I always found in organizations, theirs no single monolith," he begins, "Cogs working their part for the whole machine more like it and some cogs may not like the means of production. . .has anyone thought of finding someone inside the department who has a bone to pick with the idea of robo-cop, most cops are bastards but their are hopeful idealists that could use the right push to make a difference?"

Asbolus: "That I couldn't say, honestly. I have no such connections myself, but it's certainly an avenue worth pursuing."

Adam Harken: he nods, "If anyone learns info on your end, tell them to seek me out, I've developed an interest in this case." he takes a piece of bacon and takes a bite from it, "Is their anything you could use help with, I'm looking for good connections and helping others seems to be the charm."

Asbolus: "Will do." He nodded, taking a few bites of his own meal. "Nothing pressing at the moment, but thank you for the offer."

Adam Harken: his phone starts ringing, "Damn it," he mutters as he checks, "I'm sorry, duty calls, it was nice meeting you and I'll be sure to check out your theatre."

Asbolus: "Not a problem." He raised his cup in a small salute. "Have a good rest of your day."
