The Moshulu

Log

Guy Dagenham: The Moshulu has a couple of rooms set up not unlike fitness spaces— it’s not like vampires need to workout to stay in shape, but some initiates incorporate physical movements into their preparations for the Crucible, and training can assist in refining the physical disciplines.

As such, Guy is in a bare, padded-floor room, standing upright on his finger tips and quietly murmuring to himself.

Floretta Williams: The Twilight Judge and Castellan of the Order wanders the Moshulu, carrying a sizeable cardboard box, her purse and a shopping back, along with a hoodie folded over one arm and she's obviously struggling a little bit on the way to what serves as an office to the Order on the Moshulu.

She greets Guy when she passes by the room he's in. "Hey, be right back."

Daniel Hawthorne: Daniel was no stranger to those training rooms, having used them to help tap into the vitae-fuelled bursts of speed that the Beast could bring to bear when coaxed to do so, and seemed to be there to continues those efforts judging by the casual clothes he wore and slim wooden case he had in hand, the dark red scarf around his neck there as always. He nodded first to Guy and looked ready to ask him something before spotting Flo struggling with her current armload. "Need a hand?"

Guy Dagenham: Guy turns to look at the other two, still upside down. “Yes, that looks...awkward, even if weight isn’t an issue. Hello regardless, Floretta, Daniel. I hope your nights go well.”

Floretta Williams: Struggles occur as she tries to find a spot to put the box down. "Okay maybe I need help, yeah. Just need to put this down gently ontop of a flat surface." a pause "It's a record player." she speaks with her voice a little muffed by the box pushing a bit against her jaw. "My night's going well."

Daniel Hawthorne: Daniel nodded and set his own case down somewhere out of the way to take the box and find somewhere safe to put it. "It's going well enough."

Guy Dagenham: Guy stands back on his feet and nods. “Glad to hear that. A record player, for the vinyl discs? Are you starting a collection?”

Floretta Williams: "Tik tok started a trend with sea-shanties and I was thinking that maybe our ephemeral friends might love a taste of what people do with sea-songs nowadays." Floretta set down the few records to the side of the big box.

"So I bought records to help their moods!"

Daniel Hawthorne: "Ah..." Daniel nodded with a small smirk. "My sister's been getting into those recently. I imagine they'll like it."

Guy Dagenham: Guy just nods a bit. “More music around here certainly won’t hurt, and the very least. He gently leans against the door frame.

Floretta Williams: "Yeah, It's cool, means there's more people digging up those things. I imagined we'd be in a unique position of singing a sea-shanty alongside the Spirit of the moshulu and a ghost sailor, it's kind of an experience I didn't want to skip over."

Floretta takes a seat, setting her purse and hoodies aside and then proceeding to examine the record she brought. "I'm not sure the record player works, mind you, so I might need to track down somone who can fix it."

Daniel Hawthorne: "For sure. Can't pass that kind of thing up." Daniel eyed the case he'd brought with him briefly before deciding against starting his own personal training just yet, claiming a seat on the bench beside Flo instead. "I might be able to help there with some Googling as a guide. I've done repairs on our sewing machines often enough."

Guy Dagenham: “I know someone who’s skilled at making things. I don’t think little machines are his specialty, but if Daniel can’t fix it, if need be, I’m pretty sure he can.” He pauses a moment. “It is good to hear that people are enjoying history, it’s...comforting, I guess.”

Floretta Williams: "I'm glad things are getting rediscovered by the larger public, even if it's not always everything about it, it usually make it easier to learn more about what happened around the whole thing." Floretta set the records to the side too.

"I also got an irish song record, just in case that appeals to someone." she looks between Guy and Daniel. "What were you working on before I came in?" her attention drawn to it by Daniel's case and Guy's activities.

Daniel Hawthorne: "Mmhmm. Helps those who want to learn more about it to know where to start, if anything." He gave another nod, eyeing the case when Flo looked towards it. "Wanted to do some bladework drills. I started developing a grasp on Celerity and using that as a physical focus helped."

Guy Dagenham: “Ah, I was focusing, practicing with my strength...beginning preparations for starting to learn the Coil of Blood. Just...meditation, really.”

Floretta Williams: Floretta smiles "Good, I'm working on a few project to help the order as a whole, streamlining our library among other things." she rubs her hand together. "Also, I've been working on an investigation on some stuff around the Bala Cynwyd Elysium, what people are saying and thinking about the place."

Daniel Hawthorne: "Been looking at that one as well, since I was able to finish mastering the Ascendant recently." Daniel smiled at that, a note of pride clear in his features, then gave Flo a curious look. "Something new pop up there recently, or more of the Nereid business?"

Guy Dagenham: “Congratulations,” he says to Daniel with a smile. He looks back to Flo, and pauses. “I’ve been looking to improve my standing in the Order, so I might learn deeper layers of Blood. So I’d very much like to assist you if I can, for that reason and to simply be of help.”

Floretta Williams: "Not exactly new, I'm chasing after leads of what happened after the attack there. I found lots of haunted rumors and ghost stories, which aren't true about the place." Floretta explains with a shrug. "I found some people thinking a bit more serious things and I might indeed require some assistance in dealing with that, in case the masquerade is being threatened."

She looks to Daniel. "Oh I'm really glad you could finish the Ascendency, I'm looking that way as well, I want to try for one of the scales at mastery."

Then to Guy. "Are you done mastering the Coils of the Wyrm?" she asks, curious, immediately adding a note to something on her phone. "I'm asking for cause of technicality in the rulebook."

Daniel Hawthorne: "Thank you. That was my main goal in joining the Academy, and I look forward to learning more of what the Coils can teach. Some of the scales I've read about do look interesting, along with branching out to other Coils like the Blood. Considering how often I keep the Blush going not having to feed as much would be helpful."

He gave Flo a nod. "Ah...more than happy to help where I can."

Guy Dagenham: He nods. “Anything I can do to assist.”

“I have completed my journey,” he says with a nod, “and surmounted my Mystery.”

Floretta Williams: "Okay, so let me familiarize with the rule book, I'll have something for you on that end, Guy." She says with a little smile, Floretta roll her shoulders a bit.

"I'm mostly curious how many time you had to spend tanning with the real sun to help you along." A nervous little chuckle from the Gangrel. "But i'll take every pointers beside that too."

Daniel Hawthorne: "I used fire as a focus more than sunlight, to be honest, although I did try a walk around the block during the day as a final test run after my last Chrysalis. It was...a little intimidating, I'll admit, but it went off without a hitch."

Guy Dagenham: Guy looks at Daniel for a moment, blinking slowly. “That sounds...intense...”

He gives Flo a nod. “Thank you. I don’t want to make trouble about it, I just...want to give more strength to the Order and those I care about.”

Floretta Williams: "Yeah I wish I could take a walk with Herbert during the day sometimes, that'd be great, if a bit of a difficult thing to maintain." She ponders for a moment. ¨Definitely no time to play fetch in the park."

"Your strength is always welcome, I'm hoping I can help you share it and improve it swiftly." Floretta says with a little nod.

Daniel Hawthorne: "It was, I won't lie. It was worth it to prove to myself that I could do it, though."

Guy Dagenham: He smiles and nods to Flo, before responding to Daniel. “I can understand that. I guess...our priorities are a bit different. I had already moved on from wanting to see the sun when I found the Ordo.”

Floretta Williams: "Yeah I imagine that might be different for you, I don't know how long ago that was and how different things were back then." Floretta rolls her shoulder. "did your tan stay on for long, Daniel?"

Daniel Hawthorne: "Maybe. It was more that my mundane work sometimes requires being active during the day, so having the ability to do so helps. I know that will change as time goes on and I'll have to step back from public view, but the benefits of the Coil will still be there."

"Not really, no." He replied with a small smirk. "My blood's still thin enough that it takes a while for the sun to do much damage, and I was back inside by then."

Guy Dagenham: “I meant more that I had already been a vampire for...200 years...ish, before I joined the Ordo. I’m used to...many things Ascendancy changes.” He shrugs. “I definitely understand how useful it must be.”

Floretta Williams: "Yeah, moving past something that's been part of your for over that long is never easy, I imagine. I haven't been conscious for that long." she scratches the back of her head for a brief moment.

"Yeah I imagine good sunscreen might be enough to help you out." a soft chuckle follows.

Daniel Hawthorne: "Even only being under a decade dead getting used to being able to fend off the daysleep and be active during the day again took some adjustment, so I can imagine it would be that much more of a shift for you." Daniel nodded, going quiet for a moment before continuing. "It was a mountain worth climbing for me, though. Any of the Coils would have been, in truth, if only to take some measure of control back over my Requiem after how I came into it."

Guy Dagenham: Guy looks at the ceiling, as if he can see the night sky through it. “Yeah...I like the night, it’s my time...I understand that. It’s something I have come to appreciate about the Order: taking power for yourself, and becoming more than you were. There’s a lot of us here that need that.”

Floretta Williams: Floretta nods solemnly at that and looks at the big box. "Yeah, I think I know what my need is." a beat "But for now, I'll work to set up the record player and see if it work..." (I am fading a bit faster than I wanted to, i think im going to fade for myself soon)

Daniel Hawthorne: "That's what drew me to it rather than staying with the First Estate. Still very glad I made that call." Daniel nodded before looking towards Flo. "Give me a shout if you need me to look the player over."

Guy Dagenham: “Have a good evening, Flo, see you around, and let us know when there’s something to move on with the Elysium.”

Floretta Williams: "I will, on both count.!" she calls as she works on the big box and recorder carefully (yeah im going to fade in the bg here, thanks for the rp )

Daniel Hawthorne: Daniel watched as Flo headed off before looking back to Guy. "Should I leave you to your meditation?"

Guy Dagenham: Guy shrugs. “It’s fine, I don’t need to do it all night. You said you wanted to work on sword forms? I wouldn’t mind being a practice partner. I’m rather rusty with my sword play, but I think I remember enough to still be of some help.”

Daniel Hawthorne: "If you wouldn't mind. I'd bet your 'rusty' is better than where I'm at skill-wise at the moment." He said with a small smirk. "I was taught enough to know the basics but didn't pursue it much past that."

Guy Dagenham: Guy nods. “What type of blade do you use? If you know the basics, I can at least help you run through forms and such.”

Daniel Hawthorne: "Rapier, primarily." Daniel nodded in return. "I'd appreciate that."

Guy Dagenham: Guy leaves and returns a short while later with a wooden training sword, the kind meant to be a generic one handed blade replacement. “Ah, I think we’ll take things slow, yeah? I’m not opposed to more serious fencing, but I’m guessing we’d both rather avoid having to feed after getting battered up.”

Daniel Hawthorne: By the time Guy returned Daniel had the case open on the bench to reveal his own blade, made from metal but with a blunted edge to keep it from causing too much havoc while in use. "Sounds good." He nodded, a hand moving to his scarf before he paused and looked Guy's way. "I imagine you've seen worse, but are you alright with me taking this off? It might get in the way."

Guy Dagenham: He pauses, looking at Daniel a moment, and then nods. “I don’t mind. Please, feel free.”

Daniel Hawthorne: "Wanted to ask first." Daniel nodded before gently unwrapping the scarf from around his neck, revealing the ragged wound beneath it. Even in its current half-healed state one could tell that whoever caused it did so with purpose, drawing the blade deep enough into the tissue that he likely would have bled out in minutes even with medical aid, and with the Blush active it appeared almost like was freshly made, the skin around it raw and angry.

Once he removed the scarf he folded it neatly and set it down beside the case before picking up the blade, looking towards Guy to gauge his reaction.

Guy Dagenham: Guy quietly looks at the wound, not disgusted, but perhaps unable to look away for a few moments. And then he looks over his wooden sword quickly before nodding to Daniel. “A posthumous Embrace?”

Daniel Hawthorne: The young Haunt remained quiet as Guy looked the wound over, a note of relief on his features at the reaction given before he shook his head and got into position. "Close to it but not quite. I was blacking out from the blood loss when he got to me...last thing I remember seeing before coming back to was him kneeling down beside me."

Guy Dagenham: “You must have been far gone, to not be ghouled in order to heal first...but I don’t mean to make you dwell on it. Shall we?”

Daniel Hawthorne: "I was a ghoul already, and he wasn't the brightest man in general considering he did what he did to 'save' me and get himself into my regnant's good graces." He shook his head, waving off the apology. "It's alright, and let's."

Guy Dagenham: Guy settles into a relaxed but aggressive stance, then steps forward and thrusts at “half” speed. It’s only a mock attack, and even then it’s clear he’s holding back a tad, at least with his strength, as Daniel can deflect it as he might a normal training blow.

Daniel Hawthorne: Daniel settled into a more defensive position, watching for where the blade might come from. He was quick enough on the draw to deflect the oncoming blow, aided by both basic skill and the enhancement granted by the physical disciplines he had pursued.

Guy Dagenham: Guy continues to prod Daniel’s defenses, using a variety of attack angles to encourage him to move through his sword positions, building the muscle memory of flowing to defend. “Did your Sire begin to teach you? Regnant?”

Daniel Hawthorne: The Haunt held up well, all told, although some blows did get through; to a better-trained eye there was raw talent there but minimal training to help enhance it. "My father did, but my regnant was the one who taught him and he observed our sessions if he didn't have more pressing business to attend to."

Guy Dagenham: “Was your family all in service to your regnant? That’s an old fashioned thing...” He starts attacking at odd angles and with odd motions, still slow and deliberate, so Daniel has to think on his feet a little more. “You’re pretty good, actually, I think with a proper instructor you could become a swordsman.”

Daniel Hawthorne: "We were, although not all of us were ghouled. My regnant has been in Boston since before the Revolutionary War and we were brought in as his aides and assistants not long after it ended." He did his best to keep pace with Guy as they sparred, missing a few more of the wilder hits but tightening up his defenses after the fact to prevent that same angle of attack from being an issue again.

The compliment brought a rare look of surprise from the young Haunt, a small smile forming after the moment had passed. "Thank you."

Guy Dagenham: “Well, our kind have the time to get good at anything eventually, but you have a good feel for timing and distance, and those are the most important talents. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone personally who favors the sword, or I’d recommend you to them.”

Daniel Hawthorne: Daniel nodded, thinking on the idea for a moment. "I may ask around, then."

Guy Dagenham: “I’ll ask some friends if they know someone, too. Do you want to continue, or call it there for the night?”

Daniel Hawthorne: "I'd appreciate that." He thought on the question that followed, pulling his phone to check the time. "I should probably head home, but this was helpful. Thank you for taking the time."
