Peculiarly dead - There are some things about Piera that are strange but not necessarily easy to notice. More specifically it might be hard to pinpoint without trying what's so strange about them, but someone observant might notice that they don't always seem to remember to breathe when they're not talking. Someone with great hearing might realize their heart doesn't beat.

Nowhere to call home - Piera is technically supposed to be dead. They died. Their family buried them. A quirk of their Awakening also means they're alive, too. When you're a teenager without an identity it's hard to do things like get a job, or go to school, or find a place to live. Other than staying at the Atheneum or crashing on someone's couch they're effectively homeless and spend a lot of their time on the streets.

Not so spry - Piera is almost always carrying a cane, and for them it isn't simply an affectation but a useful mobility aid. Some days they use a wheelchair.

Linguistically talented - Despite a lack of formal education they have a knack for languages and know a few, including some that wouldn't likely be expected. These include fluency in Arabic, ASL, Persian, Spanish, and a conversant level of Wayuu, the language of their mother's people and Unami, the language of the displaced local Lenape people.
