These are the approval procedures for the Mortal / Mortal+ sphere on From Dusk Till Jawn.

Background Review

It is permissible for a background to be as short as a handful of bullet points as long as the following items are covered:

  1. Basic Details:
    1. Where the character was born and grew up.
      1. What was their youth like?
      2. What was their family like?
    2. Where the character spent their adulthood.
      1. What went into their education?
      2. What has their career been like?
  2. Status Details:
    1. How did your character acquire their status?
      1. Did they develop any rivals on the way up?
      2. How does your character try to use their influence?
    2. What are your character's ambitions with their status?
      1. Where do you want your character to end up?
      2. What are they willing to do to get there?
  3. Supernatural Details:
    1. How did they discover their powers? How old were they at the time?
    2. How has having these powers changed their life? Do they view this as a blessing or a curse?
    3. What do they intend to do with their powers, now that they know about them?
    4. If you have selected a partial template such as The Plain or the Lost Boys, what is your character's relationship with their local group? How do they relate with the national organization, if there is one?

Sheet Review

  1. Status in Civil Society is capped at one status area at 3, one status area at 2, and as many 1s as you like.
    1. No justification is required for Status up to 3 at character creation.
  2. Check the math on the sheet.
    1. 2.0 has flat costs.
    2. Check Willpower, Defense, Speed, and other such derived stats.
  3. Review mundane equipment
    1. All custom mundane items (unless direct CoI) must be reviewed by DadHoc. Use the custom item guide for prelim review.

Finishing Steps

  1. A basic wiki is mandatory for approval.
  2. Must have:
    1. Name (whatever name or names other characters will call them)
    2. Court (and dots of Mantle)
    3. Categories set for Court, Seeming, and Kith, so the page populates in all the right places
    4. Please make sure they haven't copied the template from the NPC page -- that's only used for NPCs.
    5. Any easily-seen/understood/noticeable merits/effects (Rigid Mask, Gentrified Bearing, etc. -- if you can see its effects when you look at a character or if they affect most/all interactions, it should be on the wiki. We don't need someone's Resources 5 on there, but we DO need stuff that other characters will easily notice.)
    6. Brief description of Mask, Mien, and Mantle
    7. 3 RP Hooks. They don't have to be much, but they should be SOMETHING for other players to say 'ahha, we can RP together because you sometimes hang out at Bob's Bar/you're from New York and I was once there'
    8. Freehold position. EVERYONE who is a member of a Court is at least a Page of their Court. The only people who should not have a Freehold position listed are Courtless.
    9. If someone is playing a Courtless, please make sure they are aware that they have one Season to pick a Court or the character will be ejected from Philadelphia and become unplayable. Ask them to note that they understand this in their approval request ticket, if they have not already.
    10. If someone has Goblin Contracts, please ask them to note in their approval request ticket that they have read the section on Goblin Debt and understand the consequences for using Goblin Contracts without paying off your Goblin Debt.
  3. Once the sheet is ready, make a copy of the sheet to the FDTJ Google account
  4. Make sure you've reviewed the Beat Tracker help file with the player
  5. Set the 'approved' role on the Discord
