The Magic Gardens

Log

Polly Romantic: At the agreed upon hour, Polly is loitering out front of the gardens on the sidewalk of South Street. It's a hot one today, and Polly's fighting the heat with a light sun dress in a peach tone that complements her presently yellow hair rather well. She's got her backpack with her, but has traded her usual work boots with a pair of low slung converse. Comfier for city walking, by far, and certainly a better match to her dress. The floppy sunhat atop her head keeps her from turning into a cherry red tomato of a white lady. Planning ahead!

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah arrived a few minutes early as was his wont, keeping it casual on this particular afternoon in a pair of jeans, sneakers and a grey t-shirt sporting a tri-colored snake coiling its way up the front, along with the chunky black glasses he had worn the time they ran into each other at the park. Spotting Polly he smiled warmly, giving her a quick salute as he approached. "Well you look lovely, if I may say so."

Polly Romantic: "Likewise you make a scrumptious sight," Polly rejoins playfully, leaning up to offer him a kiss of greeting on the corner of his mouth. Nothing too forward, but certainly warm and affectionate. "Love the shirt, too. I tell you what, though, it's hard to find date-worthy clothes that won't leave you dead on the sidewalk three blocks from home." She settles back down again, resting her hand atop her head to keep her hat in place, "How's your last week and weekend been?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Why thank you, and me too; saw it online somewhere and had to get it." He smiled at the kiss, placing a light one of his own on her cheek before she got too far away. "It's gone pretty well, all told. Work at the cafe, poking at a new piece, spent some time with both Nevy and Annie...all in all, can't complain."

Polly Romantic: "I saw Annie the other day! She didn't mention she'd seen you! That's awesome. How's Nevermore?" Polly ticks her head towards the gardens and gestures for him to join her, as it is the ostensible purpose of their date meetup. She does make offer of her hand for holding purposes should he be so inclined.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It was yesterday, admittedly, so you may've seen her before I did." He took the offered hand as he walked beside Polly into the Gardens, giving a little nod. "They're doing good. Brought over a Chicago-style pizza which I hadn't had before; was pretty good, all told."

Polly Romantic: "Chicago Style pizza is just casserole, really. New York style is best style. I will die on this hill." Polly wraps her arm around the one she's holding and saunters on in alongside Jay, looking over the vaguely familiar sights of the garden. Given the way she's smiling, she's clearly enjoying the experience. "Nevy's a sweetheart. Earnest. I like that about them. Which reminds me! I'm going to be doing some painting in the coming week or two. With a friend that's got a studio not too far from here. They want to do some parallel creation, and I definitely enjoy collaborative vibes like that."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Agreed, but it was worth trying, for sure." Jeremiah nodded, smiling in kind as he saw that the chosen locale for the date was going over well. "They are indeed, and not afraid to ask the right questions in a conversation either. Have to applaud that."

"Oh?" Cue curious look. "Sounds like that'll be fun."

Polly Romantic: "Yeah. I'm not getting inspired to write music, really. But I'm inspired to paint. So I figure I'll follow that urge and maybe it'll bring me back around to music, what with. You know. The way my brain is wired. Mostly it gives me an excuse to get out of my apartment and hang out with a friend. So. I'll be doing that. I'll definitely bring you round to see the finished project, though, if you like?" Polly gives Jay's hand a squeeze before letting it go and pulling out her phone, so she can snap some pictures of the gardens. Good fodder for the Instafans. "Do you still go to shows? See new acts and such?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Makes sense. I've got the seed of something forming up but I'm still prodding at it to see where the notes go. And yeah, I'd love to see it." He watched the Torrent with a small smile as she took pictures, more interested in seeing her enjoy the scenery in that moment than capturing his own. "Mmhmm. Usually try to hit a couple a week to keep tabs on the local scene, as it were."

Polly Romantic: "That's the worst. Try to force it and you ruin it. Don't prod at it and the hook you have just dies on the vine. Music can be so ephemeral sometimes," Polly muses while tapping through her usual suspects list of tags for her shots. Once she's posted, she slides her phone away back into her pocket and hops back over to his side to resume their stroll. "If you ever do it socially, that might be a fun night out for the both of us. I haven't been to a show since I got back, and I sort of miss being lost in a crowd, you know?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "No kidding. That's part of what appeals about it, though, the rush that comes from teasing it out from the aether and putting it on paper." Jeremiah offered his arm for Polly to take as she rejoined him, giving a little nod as they continued on. "I do, yeah, and I would definitely be down for that. Let me know when you're good for it."

Polly Romantic: "I'll check the upcoming show schedules for places around town, and if something looks appealing I'll shoot you a text? You can do likewise. Might be a neat way to sample each other's musical preferences in real time." Polly leads him along again, soaking in the sunlight more than watching the scenery at this point. The kaleidoscope of colors the mosaic tiles offer up have her happy as the proverbial clam, though Jay might only guess at the reason why. "What made you pick here, out of curiosity?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sounds good." Truth be told Jeremiah's eyes were more on her than anything else, albeit not to the extent that moving through the outdoor gallery unaccosted was an issue. "Nice enough day, a rather eclectic collection of art, lots of color..." He said with a small smile. "I thought you might like it."

Polly Romantic: "Lovely day, I agree. You did good. And you were right. I love it. Thank you for paying attention, Jay." Polly leans up and rewards him with another peck to his cheek and squeeze of the hand. For he has done well and deserves a reward. She sidesteps to make way for a passing couple, offering them both a smile before looking back up to Jay, "I'll need to get back inside before it gets too late, though. Fortunately it doesn't get dark out until quite late this time of year."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "You're very welcome." Jeremiah looked down to Polly with a smile. "Definite plus, yeah. I can give you a lift back home too, if you'd like."

Polly Romantic: "If it means some extra time with you, that'd be great. I'm not eager to absent myself of your company." Polly then inquires, "Would you mind if I got a snap with you and me? I'd love to have something to show off when I'm talking you up to everyone that will listen."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Nor am I." He nodded, smirking at the question. "Sure. Wouldn't mind getting one of us on my phone as well, both for me and to appease the roommates. Already had one give me the 'so when do we get to meet her?' routine."

The last was said with a shy smile on his face, an unusual look for the Warlock but he wore it well nonetheless.

Polly Romantic: "So when do they get to meet me?" Polly inquires this of him while invading his personal space and looking up at him with a big, teasing grin. The shy smile is blood in the water, apparently, to her teasing. She does pull out her phone, though, unlock it, and get the camera all fired up. "And I don't mind a shot to prove that I'm not just some imaginary girl you claim lives in Canada, if that will help." Polly slips an arm about his waist and gets into close, holding up the phone to get a good angle of them both. "Capture!" Click!

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Soon, I imagine." He replied with a smirk, giving her a quiet 'I see what you're doing...' look before getting into position for the photo. "And they trust me on that front. They're more interested cause they could tell how high my spirits were up after that dinner date."

He smiled brightly as the camera went off, looking quite the charmer as was his way.

Polly Romantic: "Let the record show you put a spring in my step the next day, too. Mmmhmm." Polly checks the picture, seems to approve of it, and then slides her phone away. Not one for the instagram, apparently. No need to subject poor Jay to all that nonsense. "I'd be happy to meet them whenever you like. Pick a day. I'll even cook a dish to bring over. Since I seem to recall your friends liking the idea of my cooking?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Glad to hear it." He nodded, fishing out his own phone to snap a pic of the pair for himself. "They did indeed. The leftovers went over very well."
