Tommy's sanctum

Log

Tommy:
A large red brick townhouse in Old City was the address provided to Klaire (and Rook). Observant eyes would notice high-end security cameras on the eaves, and even in some of the plants. The door itself looks historic, but has been upgraded as well. One might think it a high-end art museum with the equipment. Tommy, herself, sits on the front stoop, wearing her sky blue dress with shoulders revealed, and just below the knee. She whistled a simple, random, series of notes in a 'song.'

Klaire:
Klaire arrives shortly after. Rook was padding along, no vest, nose practically glued to the ground as they approach. She had let him walk to here to get a bit of energy out before they had to be back inside.

Klaire was dressed in a dress of her own, hair tied back, and comfy shoes to intentially ruin the otherwise professional fit. As they get closer, her eyes natually fall to the cameras, before spotting Tommy and waving, Rook still obsessed with whatever smell he was smelling currently.

Tommy:
She clawed across her mouth, and the tickle of magic, so she could talk to Rook and Klaire both, "Hey you two. Welcome to my home. First three-ish floors are home, the top is my lab. Papi is resting in his room on the first floor, but we can just head on up," she seemed to bounce in her seat, excited to have guests, "Oh, and you are welcome under the Lex Magica and all the Great Rights for the duration of this visit. Annnnnnd... uhhh..." she pops up and hugs them both.

Klaire:
Rook finally notices her and almost bounds up to say hi, only stopped by Klaire's guiding hand. He speaks too fast to make out, but he's definetly excited to be there. To anyone else, it sounds like a series of excited yips and whines before he sits and waits.

Klaire gives a slight smile, and should Tommy have Mage Sight up, she could see the Mind Link between the woman and the dog.

"Thank you for the invitation, I'll try to keep this one quiet on the first floor so your father can sleep. And thank you for the welco-" she cuts off, surprised by the hug, a second later giving a soft one back. Rook meanwhile licking her face when he gets his hug.

Tommy:
"Your my first guests in my home in the city here," she grinned. And then to Rook, "Papi smells sick, but he is asleep, so please be quiet and leave him be for now," and then she goes to open the door for the group. The inside is a mix of archaic, literally, decor, and ultra modern. The stairs are near the back and she started to head to the top, "So you moved things? What was it?"

Klaire:
Rook gives a noble woof that he understands, head held high. The pair follow Tommy inside. Klaire's eyes wander the interior at all the decor.

"A plate with my sandwich on it, a mug, and a plastic cup. The cup was empty and the mug mostly so. Unfortunatly, Ylva ate half the plate and that surprised me out of it so I didn't get to see how high I held them. Just...based off the situation thats what I think happened."

Tommy:
"She ate the plate? Very interesting. I know y'all mentioned her hunger..." She maneuvers through more stairs, "That's very cool. All at once or separate?"

Klaire:
"It looked quite painful but...she just said she needed to stay in the um...Hedge? That space between for them. If she did that she would be better."

Rook takes carefully to the stairs, helped by Klaire.

"They all fell at once, but I had my back turned. Those were just the objects closest to me I think. Well...besides the table and the chair I was sitting in which were significantly heavier."

Tommy:
"I see. Interesting," she scratched her chin, checking to make sure her friends didn't need a break on the last flight. Once upstaris, to Klaire, it looked like a wall. Then, suddenly, the door opened with an electronic lock being accessed without being touched. Inside the door, it's an entirely different place. It looks like a university library with shelf after shelf full of books, scrolls, even ancient tablets and vellum. A few shelves full of discs and thumb drives and the like. There was also a center space with tables and chairs, but included an entirely open space for ritual.

Klaire:
Rook seems fine, a slight pant at all the steps, but overall excited to explore. Klaire keeps a bit more quiet, and looks in surprise as the wall opens in front of them. Magic was cool!

When the books and ritual space revealed itself, her eyes went wide, amazement struck on her face. A quiet "woah" escapes before she forces herself to stand a little more serious, eyes flicking back to Tommy.

"So...what is the plan for the day?"

Tommy:
"Well, let's see what you can do, I have various things that I can do to study what you're doing, and if you wish, I can give you the ability to see it yourself, to better understand it, otherwise, I can do something that let's you see the way I picture my spells."

Klaire:
Rook and Klaire enter the room a bit further so the door can be shut.

"My current problem is I haven't been able to activate it manually. It happened at Maddy's when I was still focusing, and at home when I was angry. Being able to tell exactly what I'm doing would be helpful I think."

Tommy:
As she walked past the door, Klaire and Rook would almost forget the door existed, or where it was located. Reaching one of the tables, she placed a few different tools on the table. A gold and steel flask, a wand of petrified wood, and their journal.

"Remember, this might drain your mind a bit, or your energy to focus on things for a while. Not terrible, since I think you're someone with a strong mind, but it's up to you."

Klaire:
Rook is directed to lay down, his leash taken off as he curls up to watch. Klaire joins the Mage at the table.

"I think I will be fine, if nothing else I have Rook here who tends to help. I've seen a lot of strange things, and I have held myself together despite what my mind wanted."

Tommy:
"All right..." She studied Klaire for a moment and opened the journal to a specific page, full of notes. "Hold this." She offered the flask to Klaire, and then began to spin the wand over it. And Klaire, while chanting in the High Speech.

Klaire:
Klaire holds the flask, a slight uncertain look as the High Speech begins.

Tommy:
"Drink," she said after a few seconds, the spell beginning to take form...

Klaire:
Klaire drinks after a half second to process, trusting Bones but uncertain what is going to happen.

Tommy:
As it finished, she touched Klaire's shoulder and let the spell fill her.

Klaire:
Klaire blinks a few times, eyes growing a bit hazy and then focusing. A second later she shuts her eyes and tries again. "I-wow. That is a lot of information."

A slow glance around the room, almost worried to move too fast as she adjusts to the volley of input. "You do this all the time?"

Tommy:
"The magic should help adjust, as should your sleepwalker nature, my friend. I had to add some that Jay would have normally. The stuff you see about energy and magic? That's me. The Mind and Space stuff? That's what we need for your stuff, as well as the forces, so I had to add it. But if need be, I can always redo it to remove the extra." After a few seconds, they also had the sight up to match Klaire, and sat down to watch, "Feel free to lift anything in here you can, aport something, or even study your link with Rook..." she motions for Klaire's attention to that link.

Klaire:
"No, no. Its fine. Just give me a minute." She takes it one bit at a time, slowly growing more confident, at Tommy's direction she studies her link with Rook to try to make sense of it. "Okay, I can do that. I think?"

A moment later, a dog toy appears in her hand from her bag, warmed. She squints a bit, struggling to focus a bit more than usual, but enjoying looking at her powers. Its clear she has a studious mind and is trying to make sense of it all, but also that the process is exhausting to her. "This is amazing, I don't get all of it but...its amazing to watch."

Tommy:
The mind sight would reveal the energies and connection of the telepathy with ease. The magic told interpret how it worked to a point.

As the dog toy appeared and even as Klaire began to think about it, the space sight would do similar, letting them both study the effect

Klaire:
Klaire keeps looking around the room for different energies, using up a large amount of their time just getting used to the process. Towards the end she seems much more confident with what she is seeing, although clearly mentally fatigued already.

Tommy:
"Are you going to practice some of the Telekinesis as well? Or do you want me to do the same and let you see?

Klaire:
"I don't know if I can focus enough with all of this. I struggled to apporate the toy." Which, speaking of she rolls to Rook now that it is cool again. "And I use that power frequently. I'm still not even sure how the telekinesis works."

Tommy:
"That would be the reason to do it. You could literally see the energies begin to form, through forces, the way they move through space, and the mystical energy used itself. Even if you don't manage to move them, you could see them. Otherwise I can manage to do something that lets you see how I use my Imagos to move things."

Klaire:
Klaire takes a deep breath and nods, shaking slightly as she focuses on the flask from earlier.

The energies gather around herself first, then the flask, and she struggles for a moment. She takes the time to focus in on the Force sight, seeing how everything moves, and suddenly it clicks and the flask starts floating. Klaire's breathing gets labored as she focuses, but she gets it to hover in the air!

Tommy:
Watching the distance, the force of the telekinetic power lift, and other such things, she also studies the movements, While keeping an eye on Klaire to study how much is left in her 'tank,' for apocalypse to keep running.

Klaire:
Klaire slowly lets the flask down, a confident smile even as she's shaking slightly from the mental pressure. She glances towards Rook, and tosses his ball gently for him with her mind. He of course looks super confused and goes to snuffle at the ball.

Tommy:
While Klaire works on the flask, Bones began forming a new Imago, combining a few pieces into a single imago. The Flask, the journal, the wand and even Tommy's own throat begin to glow with Prime energy.

Scooping the tools up, she began to cast something else seeming to take a couple fully formed imagos and blending them together... but that spell fizzled altogether. Right before the next six minute mark, noticing that Klaire was using a lot of her will to fuel her abilities, Tommy cut the spell sharing the mage sight.

Klaire:
Klaire focuses steadily, watching Tommy out of the corner of her eye, seeing the magic. But all of the sudden it cuts out and she looks confused. "Hey- why did you-" And then the tiredness hits and she slumps over the table slightly, the ball not floating anymore.

"Mmm...Rook?" Immediately the pup runs over, placing his head on her lap for her to focus on as the world starts spinning.

Tommy:
Tommy stays quiet, just watching the sleepwalker and dog, before dismissing most of her current spells to make room, in case she needs to help.

Klaire:
Klaire spends the next minute petting the dog, before slowly sitting up. Overall she looks fine, better than most would be, but still tired. Perhaps not having braced for the sudden cut off.

"That was a lot, but it was cool. Just...a lot."

Tommy:
"You look... Spooked," a whisper, "I'm sorry."

Klaire:
She shakes her head. "No, no I'm...fine. It was a good...thing and...well..." she focuses on the flask once more, biting her lip and lifting it on her first try. "It broke me through...whatever I wasnt getting. Just...little tired is all. Jay said it would be...and well...I thought I'd be more prepared..." she looks half ready for a nap right there, struggling with full thoughts after the mind-numbing experience of the Mage Sight.

Tommy:
Tommy crossed herself and kissed the same hand while pointing up, letting magic flow out. Her left had fiddled with her coin. Then immediately after, still fiddling with her coin, she splashed some of the water in the flask on Klaire. And then she made a zig zag, quick and sharp, in the air with the coin. Even while she focused, her nose began to bleed.

Klaire:
Klaire blinks at the sudden splash of water, a surprised yelp. A second later she blinks and feels...better? She looks over at Tommy.

"Oh! Thats...that was nice. Are you okay? Your nose is bleeding."

Tommy:
She pulled a kerchief from her bag, and wiped her nose, "Just a little heavy on my magic. Kind of like when you teleport something far away."

Klaire:
Klaire nods. "Is it bad enough that you need help? After that I think we should stop for the day though."

Tommy:
"No. I don't need the help, I'll be fine in a while. Think of it as... falling off your bike or something. Just enough to hurt, and then remember going forwards."

Klaire:
She nods. "I gotcha. I do need to stop anyway. Even after that spell, I burned through a lot today. Maybe I was a...tad bit overzealous with the Mage Sight. It was amazing to see and...hard to stop from exploring as much as I could if that makes sense?"

Tommy:
"Well, I was keeping an eye, that's why you saw my own internal energy get tired out a bit. If you got too low, I was going to cut it, and that's what I ended up doing."

Klaire:
"Thank you for keeping an eye out for me. It was a lot...more energy consuming than I was used to, so I didn't quite know how to balance it."

Tommy:
"I didn't realize that it would use the same will as the abilities you use. I apologize for that, and I've learned, myself."

Klaire:
"Well, now we know to be more careful? I am a usually...well as you said willful person, but yes, my abilities do tire me out faster than most things. I usually know my limits but it was more intense than I expected." She buries her hands in Rook's floof.

Tommy:
"Well, I hope that you feel better after your meal, water, and a good night's sleep," she smiled softly, though the sadness was in her eyes.

Klaire:
Klaire frowns, shifting around the table with Rook to offer a supportive hand. "Bones, you are perfectly fine. I've survived much worse than this and been way worse off mentally. That's part of why I have Rook. You did everything you could to protect me and I wouldn't have changed that lesson."

She squeezes the hand if it was accepted, or puts her hand in her lap if it wasnt. "I should have known to back off sooner but I was excited, and let myself go too far."

Tommy:
She took the hand and squeezed in return, "And i'm the consummate teacher, and want to share all the knowledge I have. I just ... I don't like seeing people in pain."

Klaire:
Klaire shakes her head. "I am hardly in pain. I see pain all the time, the amount of families that come to me looking for their child, or their sibling, or whatever else...that is pain. What I'm in is a bit of confusion at best...and its a step I'm ok with if it means I am getting better. Which I am."

Tommy:
"Po-tay-to, Po-Tah-To, but I appreciate you're trying to console me," a smile and a bob of the head, "How is Ylva? I still haven't seen her since I upset her."

Klaire:
"Nah-uh-uh. We are finishing this conversation first." She gives a smirk. "You didn't hurt me, ok? I am glad you stopped when you did or otherwise I may have hurt myself."

Tommy:
Her eyes quite obviously shifted back and forth at being caught trying to change the subject, before another, guilty, bob of the head, "Yes. I understand you do not blame me And I'm still feeling guilty about it. Both can be true."

Klaire:
Klaire smiles as Bones realizes she was caught. Klaire is a detective after all. "They can be, but I'd rather solve the guilty part. Why do you still feel guilty?"

Tommy:
"If I had to give someone a papercut, honestly, I'd feel guilty. When I would bruise or break someone when I was practicing martial arts? I'd feel guilty. Even if it was their job, they already had califlower ears or anything else. I just," her eyes squinched together, looking inwards for a second, before speaking more, "I don't like to hurt, unless I absolutely have to. And even then, I don't like it."

Klaire:
Klaire nods, listening closely. "I get it, I used to be largely the same way. Empathy is a curse and a blessing, and it is a good part of yourself that you don't like to hurt. That's never a bad thing. I just ask that you don't worry about me, I can take care of myself."

She shifts slightly. "What was the question about Ylva again?"

Tommy:
"I feel like she's having a lot of trouble. She was very shocked by my question, and I just... Haven't seen her since. So I'm wondering if she's okay.

Klaire:
Her brow furrows. "I haven't heard anything against you, she's just been busy I think. What was your question to her?"

Tommy:
"About what else she eats, and then she told me about the hunger."

Klaire:
Her expression falls. "That's not just you, Bones. It's hard for her to talk about it at all without breaking down. The things that take them...the Lost I mean...I know very little about it but it...its bad." In addition to a sadness for her partner, there's an undertone of anger which is quite unlike how she normally presents herself.

Tommy:
"That's why I worry."

Klaire:
"She's not mad at you...or at least I don't think she is. If she is then she is likely mad at me too after yesterday." Klaire pets Rook absent mindedly. "Sirius and I had a conversation about this after you left last time. There's not always things we can do to help. I'm certain if you reach out to her she would love to hang out with you."

Klaire thinks for a second, then gives a confident and knowing smile. "She's a Starbucks addict. Pumpkin Spice Frappe if they have it, or Mocha frappe if they don't."

Tommy:
"Oh... That's right... Others can't bring different drinks through time...."

Klaire:
She blinks. "Wait you can bring drinks through time? Like...nevermind, not ready for that talk today."

Tommy:
"It takes time and a little more but yeah," she laughed. "Anything else that you wanted to ask or know about?"

Klaire:
Klaire shakes her head. "No, you have done plenty for me today. Enjoy your date with Ylva when you get there." She gives a wink before standing up, grabbing her bag and starting to get Rook ready to leave too.

Tommy:
"Well, I love you too like family, and you're welcome here anytime, all right?"

Klaire:
Klaire pauses, then nods. "Like family, yeah. You are welcome at my place as well but...well it is far more plain."
