Consilium Hall

Log

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah was at the hall this particular evening more for business than pleasure, fulfilling his role as Claviger and thus being accessible to the consilium at large. The Warlock was neatly dressed in black slacks, white dress shirt and grey vest with a black tie to round out the ensemble, the shirt sleeves tidily rolled up to the elbows to reveal the full tattoo sleeve on his left arm. Mystically his eyes were on the entire room, distance being a Lie as any good Mastigos knew, while his physical focus was on his phone as he skimmed over something on the screen.

Amelia Fedorov: Blue has been frequenting the hall for her study more these days. Its easier, better company and less heckling.

Today she was wearing black jeans with knee high stiletto boots and a leather jacket. Her signature blue stripe showing in her hair and her jacket.

In one hand was a book bag carrying several tomes. Her eyelids looking heavy and sleep deprived. The largest coffee in the other hand.

She wandered into the hall and began looking for somewhere to sit. Eyes looking at Jay giving a gentle smile. It was genuine, if a little forced due to exhaustion.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah glanced up at the new movement, giving Blue a warm smile and a knowing look seeing the aura of tired about her. "Hey there."

Amelia Fedorov: "Oh. Um. Hi there."

She tries to wave and it's super awkward given how much she is carrying but she tried.

"Nice to. Meet. You?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Good to meet you as well." He replied as he slid his phone into his pocket, nodding towards said wave-blocking objects. "Need a hand?"

Amelia Fedorov: "Mostly need a table but I wouldn't say no to a hand."

She says this dumping the book bag in his hands.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah let out a little 'oof' as the bag was passed over unexpectedly, straightening out after a moment with a chuckle. "Sure we can find one. Sirius, by the way."

Amelia Fedorov: She continues looking for a table heedless to the fact she just dumped a pile of books on a stranger.

"Um hi Sirius. I'm Dr Amelia Fedorov."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Good to meet you." He kept pace with Blue as they went on the table hunt, in good spirits by all telling. "Are you new to the city or have we just not crossed paths yet?"

Amelia Fedorov: "Im new to. I dont know how to explain it. This side, ive only recently Awakened? Is that how we explain it?"

She says looking a little confused but spying a corner table that fits what she wants. Having walked past a few. Its the one she sat at previously and met Vasya and Harmony at.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah!" He perked up at that, smiling widely. "Welcome on both fronts, then. Settling in alright, I hope?"

Amelia Fedorov: "Ive been in Philly since 1999 but ya know." She gestures at the Hall. "Thanks. Im, managing. Its a lot of new information to go over and compare to my previous studies."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "True enough, and always something more to learn. What were you studying previously, if you don't mind my asking?" He nodded, setting down the bag of books once she seemed to have decided on a table to claim. "Who all have you worked with here so far?"

Amelia Fedorov: "I'm a Professor of Geometry with a personal interest in Leylines and Sacred Geometry."

She pulls open the book bag which reveals 7 thick text books the first three of which have her name along the spine.

"Who have I met. Who have I met. Who have I met." She shakes her head. "Sorry. I've met Bones, Vasya, Harmony and now you. I think that is everyone. Oh and Klaire, she's a Sleepwalker and who could ever forget little old Rook."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah, interesting. Can see that sort of study drawing you into this side of things after a while." He glanced over the book titles, his smile widening at the mention of his cadremate. "A good mix there. Harmony is a dear friend of mine and cadremate, and Psyche is very talented. And yes, Rook is adorable."

"Have you found an order to your liking as of yet, or are you still looking into it?"

Amelia Fedorov: "I awakened as an Obrimos. A Thaumaturge which. Makes I think the most sense. Given. Everything."

She shakes her head a moment of considering what Vasya said.

"Not yet, I am still trying to learn everything about what my options are. What can you tell me?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Definitely, although on occasion the Oracles do work in mysterious ways." He nodded, finding a comfortable piece of wall to lean against as he mulled her question. "I can speak best for the Silver Ladder as I am one myself, although there's no wrong choice among the orders as I see it. We all have our purpose and do our part towards the greater enlightenment of all."

"For us in particular, we work towards helping humanity as a whole regain the power stripped from it by the Quiescence, removing the chains of the Lie and joining as one against the Exarchs and those who would keep them bound."

Amelia Fedorov: Blue nods following along.

"Are all the orders present in Philly? Just want to make sure im aware of all my options."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "The full Pentacle is here, yes, along with the Children of the Tree."

Amelia Fedorov: Another nod followed by a note written in her journal.

"I havent heard it called that before and havent heard much about the Children of the Tree."

Before there is a solid shake of her head.

"Sorry, its not your job to educate the newbies. Im sure there is a library here I can read or something."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Actually, it kind of is." He replied with a smile. "My cadre specializes in helping Sleepwalkers and the newly-Awakened reach their full potential."

Amelia Fedorov: "Well. Shit. Well, this is awkward."

She tries to smile back feeling like she has put her foot in it.

"What advice would you have for me then, being one of the aforementioned newly awakened."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Nah, not at all. You're fine." He chuckled, waving off any concern she might have. "It's part of what we do here, and I'm happy to help where I can."

"Listen to those around you, learn what you can, and take that knowledge forward to develop your own way along the path to enlightenment. We were all in your shoes at one point, and new perspectives should be appreciated."

Amelia Fedorov: "Hmmm."

She thinks on that for a moment.

"So take the knowledge of those around me but dont rely on it nor assume that it is the one or true path?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "To some extent, yes. There are some universal foundations - the various levels of mastery and practices within magic, for example - but no two mages, even called by the same Watchtower, will climb its steps in the same way."

Amelia Fedorov: She nods again chewing at her lip clearly a lot going through her brain.

"I think that is part of my struggle, its all so. Loose. All of my studies have had established principles and ways of thinking and that was the only way of things working. Yes we would discover new things and then that would replace the old. It would always have a solid A to B answer. 1 plus 2 always equals 3."

A shake of her head.

"Sorry im rambling. Its part of what is making sleep so elusive. Well that and Harmony cheating it for me." She says with a little laugh.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "That is the trick of it, really, and one way that we see the world that those who still Sleep can't. Many things - time, space, the objects and people around us - are more malleable than they realize, and by our will we can change things in ways they can't imagine or can only dream of."

"I've used that trick myself now and again, so I can't say too much." He added with a chuckle. "Very handy for when a composition doesn't want to come together but I also don't want to lose the idea from sleeping on it."

Amelia Fedorov: "Still just trying to wrap my brain around it. Heck im still trying to wrap my brain around how much I can accomplish with this new power. How much by brain can process with the use of the right spell. I was teaching a class and writing a book the other day."

She chuckles again.

"I feel like I have gained so much and lost so much. Its hard to explain."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I follow you. It's a lot to take in at once, and you lose a certain amount of innocence when your eyes open for the first time." He smirked a touch. "Remembering what it was like before that moment gets harder as you go on, but keeping it in mind reminds us of what we're working towards in the end."

Amelia Fedorov: "What is your specialty then Sirius? I was mostly given knowledge of Prime and Time from my journey to the Watchtower."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mind and Space, being a Warlock and all, although the legacy I partake in also offers a specialty in Prime as well. I've also dabbled in Life, Forces and Matter to branch out a little."

Amelia Fedorov: Blue nods. "Prime and Forces are the easiest for me to work with but I find Time and Prime to be the most interesting of what I currently have access to."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Time is one that I haven't looked into, I'll admit, but it is a fascinating prospect. What draws you to it, out of curiosity?"

Amelia Fedorov: "The flow of time as I knew it is part of the Lie itself. Why should I be bound to the same rules? It allows me to move at incredible speeds, allows me to manipulate my mundane crafts, my welds have never looked so good. It just allows me precise control over my day."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Fair enough." He nodded, smiling. "What sort of projects do you do the welding for?"

Amelia Fedorov: "Im a mechanic on the side, tend to mostly specialize in custom of roading rigs and stunt bikes. Currently having to rebuild one of my personal projects after hubris kicked it. I hadnt even awakened at that point."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Very nice, and that sound rough. Not much of a car guy, I'll admit, but I admire the work people put into them."

Amelia Fedorov: "I moved into the woods. Kinda had to teach myself how to do cars so I could get home."

She days with a chuckle.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Gotcha." He chuckled in kind. "When I lived out in LA you kind of had to have a car, but I bike more often than not here."

Amelia Fedorov: "I could probably bike its just. My parents are very 'You must drive Amelia.' They didn't ever want me to feel trapped. They couldn't drive back home."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Understandable. Where was home for them, if you don't mind my asking?"

Amelia Fedorov: "Russia." She says a very thick accent coming through.

"I try to hide my accent most of the time. Old habits. We came to America in '99. They didn't want me to grow up there."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah hah." He gave a knowing nod. "Definitely understandable, then. Was born a bit south of Boston myself, although we moved a lot when I was younger. My father was an architect and he liked to stay close to whatever projects he was working on at the time."

Amelia Fedorov: "That makes sense. My dad was a teacher. Settled us here and I just kinda stayed. Followed in his footsteps if a little diffirent. I work for an online university that teaches all remotely to help those with mobility issues or who regular classes just don't work. We see a lot more adults and less high school graduates."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Very cool. I'm in the music business myself, although more on the mentoring and producing side than performing myself. I also run a cafe up in Spring Gardens for local musicians and artists to show their work."

Amelia Fedorov: "Did that change after you awakened or you were always more back end?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "After. I was running for the spotlight before that and did a lot of damage along the way, both to myself and to others. Once I Awoke that drive for my own fame wasn't there anymore, but helping others find their place there felt right."

Amelia Fedorov: She nods.

"I understand. Lifting others up is such a joy in and of itself."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It is, and I get the benefit of seeing the garden of my legacy grow, to paraphrase the line. Some of the folks I've worked with have gone on to inspire others in kind, and I can't help but be proud of that."

Amelia Fedorov: "That is lovely isnt it. I love seeing my books referenced by professors. Even if this has changed some of my views in them."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I can imagine. Wager you have some good fodder for a new book as time goes on. Within reason, of course."

Amelia Fedorov: "Oh I have so much for a new book. But I imagine 'Oh yes there are the ley lines of the world because I can see them now' isnt exactly a smart move?" She says with a very clearly joking chuckle.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I'd recommend against it, yeah." He replied with a chuckle of his own. "Might get you in a bit of trouble."

Amelia Fedorov: "Just a bit." With a raised eyebrow. "That or I lose all credibility."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Either would be possible, yeah, although I wager there are some folks in that particular field who have their own gifts that allows for that kind of observation. May just not be vocal about it because others will call them out for it."

Amelia Fedorov: "Plus that is kinda my source of income so I can keep up my lifestyle. The teaching is mostly a passion project if im completely honest."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not a bad thing, that. We all have to have something to focus on outside of the whole 'Phenomenal Cosmic Power' side of things."

Amelia Fedorov: "Yeah, I assume focusing on just the 'Phenomenal Cosmic Power' thing is bad for the brain?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "More for the soul, I'd say. Obsession with the mysteries of the world comes with the territory, admittedly, but keeping yourself grounded on some level also keeps you from forgetting that these are people you're dealing with, not just pieces on the grand board of the cosmos."

Amelia Fedorov: There is a chuckle at that. "Make sure we stay Human for want of a better word."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Pretty much. We are the stewards of humanity, recipients of a gift that all of us will eventually have, and we have to lead from the front to ensure that they gain it as well."

Amelia Fedorov: She smiles at that. "Your Silver Ladder bias is showing."

"But. I think its time for me to get to my studies. Thanks so much for taking your time to talk to me."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Maybe a little." He chuckled, nodding as he went into his pocket for a slim card case, offering her one of the cards within that had the information for the Green Room cafe on the front and a second number hand-written on the back. "It's been a pleasure. If you ever need to get a hold of me, feel free to give me a call."

Amelia Fedorov: She takes the card handing one back for a Mechanic shop.

"Have a good night."
