Maddy's Wafflehouse

Log

Spicy: Spicy makes her appearance at Maddy's again, built and statuesque, curiously wondering about the surrounding as she makes her way in, she select a booth and sink deep into it, draggin her big duffel bag along under the table, she immediately pick up the menu and looks at it. Today she's dress in leather pants and white button up shirt, her hair in short ponytail and a touch of make up to dark her eyes and lips.

But her mien shows a fresh-snow glisten to her skin, dark veins of ice, her fingernails made of ice, along with her teeth, her lips and tongue a deep blue, her hair sort of frosted into place and her eyes are frozen black orbs, apparently the center of the streaks of black ice.

Aurelio Menegi: Aurelio agreed to the request to meet, of course, although the Torrent paused once he was inside the diner and saw the much more pastoral view outside its windows, head tilted in obvious puzzlement. He shook his head after a long moment and continued on to the booth Spicy had claimed, giving her a nod before taking a seat on the other side. "Good to see you. Things alright, I hope?"

Spicy: Spicy reach across the table for a handshake, the gesture sort of feel meaning with how deliberate she seems to make it. "They're alright, I'm glad to see you again , took me a while before regaining some sense after that."

Aurelio Menegi: "Good." He took the offered hand and shook it, the marble shockingly cold as always. "Still a little...off myself. Should be fixing that soon, though."

Spicy: "I don't know any tricks for it, unfortunately." Spicy set the menu down between them. "Want to share a sweet sicily pancake with me?" she point to the menu.

Aurelio Menegi: "Nor I. Could ask one of the Verdant, perhaps, if I am not able to mend otherwise." He looked over the menu as it was presented, nodding after a moment. "Not opposed."

Spicy: Spicy places the order and watches the waiting staff just going at it for a moment. "I probably could land a job here, I think." she looks back to Aurelio "What do you want to do about that?"

Aurelio Menegi: "Imagine so. You said you cook, yes?" He nodded, then gave her a curious look. "Which 'that' do you refer?"

Spicy: "Without getting into details, what we'd do with the information that we shared a moment in the other place." Spicy offers a short lived smile. "Or is it something you'd rather we ignore?"

Aurelio Menegi: "Ah." He sat back in his seat, mulling that over. "It happened, so ignoring would not do much. Getting to know you outside of the dark is good to me, if it is for you as well."

Spicy: "Well, my first name is Sophie. Don't spread it around, I actually like being called Spicy." The ogress smiles to the waitress shortly as she set the plate in front of them, she cuts herself a piece. "Originally from Fairbanks, Alaska."

Aurelio Menegi: "Noted." He nodded, giving the passing waitress a polite smile as the food was delivered. He eyed the food curiously for a moment as she claimed the first bite, letting her eat first before taking one of his own. "From Venice, myself."

Spicy: "I'd say I wish I could travel but that seems to be impossible for me at the moment, possibllly risky." Another bite taken, slow and deliverate, she seems to appreciate the little kick of the spice in the food. "What did you do back then in venice?"

Aurelio Menegi: "Not with the Cry going on, at least." Another small nod, along with a bite of the food. "Much like now. Grew up in my father's workshop and apprenticed under him and others to keep the work alive."

Spicy: "If you told me what your work was, I'm sorry I forgot it." Spicy duck her head, a little uncertain she remembers there. "Wait, was it glassblowing?"

Aurelio Menegi: "Si."

Spicy: "And I did tell you I was a sculptor right?" She tries to remember and shrugs, she'd just said it again, not like this was a particularly "Sorry with all of the weird things going on lately I've been struggling a little bit with remembering details."

Aurelio Menegi: "Don't think so, no." He glanced down at his own marble form for a brief moment before looking back to her, waiving off the apology with a small smile. "No worries. Know how that goes."(edited)

Spicy: "I was a sculptor back before that happened, now I have a workshop, but not a whole lot of material to work with." Spicy says with a little shrug. "Would I have seen any of your work around our people?"

Aurelio Menegi: "Not that I know of. Some have mentioned coming by the studio but if they have I was not there for it."

Spicy: "Do you have any picture of what you made? I keep all my stuff either in my hollow or in a dark basement, so it's not super photogenic at the moment." Spicy explains and shrugs her shoulder.

Aurelio Menegi: "One moment." He pulled his phone out of his pocket and fiddled with it for a bit before showing her a small gallery of pieces from the studio's website. Some were the standard vases and other vessels, while others were animals and figures that were surprisingly detailed for their smaller size and the medium in question.

Spicy: "Oh, do you know Tatterdemalion's workshop?" She asks curiously "How did you get details this small on this, damn." she seems impressed by the artwork, her eyes wide and bright at the sight of it.

Aurelio Menegi: "No, but I know other faces of the Jewel." He smiled at the compliment, looking over the images in kind. "Practice, and a steady hand."(edited)

Spicy: "Yeah that's what it take, normally I work on block of granite or marble." She explains. "It's kind of a shame, because they cost an insane amount of money for someone without a steady job." she chuckles a bit.

Aurelio Menegi: "True." He nodded, thinking a moment. "There is a...guild is not the right word, but close enough, of sculptors in town. Might be worth talking to for help, no?"

Spicy: "Where and who?" She asks almost immediately interested in the idea, grinning bright.

Aurelio Menegi: He reclaimed his phone and poked around on the site before pulling up the page for the Philadelphia Sculptors, an art-based non-profit group and handing it back. "Heard it mentioned at work once from a shared project."

Spicy: She writes it down on the napkin, takes a bit of food from the plate and then stuff the napkin into the duffel bag under the booth, where her feet remains. "I think there might be others of us around, maybe."

Aurelio Menegi: He reclaimed his phone once she was done writing down the information, giving her a curious look. "As in those who were also there?"

Spicy: "Yes. I had a short conversation with a Winter courtier which shook me in similar ways than ours did." She takes a deep breath there and then looks around. "I suspect another might be as well, but that might just be because like... Snowskin."

Aurelio Menegi: "Ah...I see." He nodded quietly. "Good to know."

Spicy: "I know I'm asking this out of no where, but do you think it's a good idea to try and find out for sure? Get us all together and figure out something there?"

Aurelio Menegi: He sat back in his seat, thinking that over. "Good question. Knowing if our paths crossed there could be useful, but also...harrowing, as we know."

Spicy: A quiet nod. "but It could also bring safety, I'm not a Summer, but I have big weapons and guns to hold 'em" she flex to mention that's what she means. "If we prepare for it, maybe it'll be a little less worse?"

Aurelio Menegi: "Perhaps." He nodded quietly. "If you find out for sure, I would be willing to meet any others."

Spicy: "Hey, do you think we could collaborate on some glass and stone collaboration, art wise?" She asks, switching the topic again, maybe there is something of the Spring court about her beside the fruity/flowery smell her mantle carries.

Aurelio Menegi: The shift in topic earned a quirking up of the eyebrow but he nodded after a moment. "I'd be willing. Do you have something in mind?"

Spicy: "Maybe a stone statue with some glass inlay? A wich with glass eyes and holding an orb of glass that's like the world?" she ponders for a moment "A patchwork of an animal that looks like part ephemeral with glasses and stone work otherwise?"

Aurelio Menegi: "A few things." He chuckled, giving another small nod. "Could be interesting."

Spicy: "I'm super-open to your ideas." She grins and smirks. "Basically just a brainstorm here." she makes some lightning noises with wiggles of her fingers set up on her forehead. "Also, what kind of size is feasible for you to make? so I don't start listing like, real size giraffe as a possibility."

Aurelio Menegi: "The largest lately was about three feet tall. Accent pieces would be easier to do, of course, but working it into the sculpture is also doable."

Spicy: "so an Elephant would be possible." she muses with a little bit of an amused look and a grin. "Do you have any preference for a style of art you'd like to do?" (I need to go afk for about 10 minutes)

Aurelio Menegi: "It would." He chuckled, holding up a hand with his thumb and pointer fingers about an inch apart. "Done some smaller ones in the past."

"Tend more towards the finer detail work overall, along with millefiore...ah, mosaic, I think is the term."

Adela Fletcher: Diners are not usually Adela's eating places of choice. Keeping track of exactly what goes into her body has always been second nature to her and diner food... doesn't tend to rank high on the 'good for you' scale. But sometimes it's not about the food. She's heard that this diner caters primerally towards the... less average citizens of Philly, and that sounds like a good thing right now, with all that's going on.

A faint scent of impending snow accompanies her as she enters, and as she finds a seat at the counter. She orders a coffee for the moment and then turns to see who all else is around. She recognizes Spicy and gives her a smile. "Hey there. How're things?"

Aurelio Menegi: Even seated it was easy to tell that Aurelio was taller than most, a white marble form contrasted by the black t-shirt and jeans that he wore. As he looked towards Adela, though, the most notable thing was likely the eyes, which were a rather...specific shade of ice blue. He gave a polite nod, his greeting colored by his native tongue. "Afternoon."

Spicy: Spicy stares for a moment at Adela and the frosty reception slowly turn into a thin smile and she waves her into the booth. "Come in, I was hoping to run into you soon." she looks at Aurelio like she means something about what she just said.

Adela Fletcher: Adela hops off her stool to join Spicy and her companion. "Oh?" she says, to Spicy's comment. "Should I be worried?" Her tone is light, but considering current events, there's an undertone of seriousness to it as well.

Aurelio Menegi: Aurelio moved over to give Adela space in the booth, giving Spicy a curious look in kind as he got settled.

Spicy: "Aurelio and I made a recent discovery about ourselves that..." she clear her throat "kind of put the awkwardness of our last conversation in a different light." She explains and seems just a little worried for a moment.

Adela Fletcher: Adela blinks and raises an eyebrow. That is obviously not the thing she was expecting to hear. She looks over at Aurelio, giving him an appraising look. He doesn't look familiar or anything, but that means little. "Now I am worried." And yet not at the same time. If this in regards to their last conversation, that means it's not likely to be connected to the current Freehold situation. She manages a somewhat amused smile. "So please, don't leave me in further suspense!"

Aurelio Menegi: And there went the lightbulb. The Torrent nodded quietly, looking Adela over as he motioned between himself and Spicy briefly. "We crossed paths at least once in the dark, before our respective returns."

Spicy: "Yes we shared our time on the other side, yes" She explained toward Aurelio and she takes a breath there. "Of that I'm sure, but I wonder if maybe you also did share it too." She sigh

Adela Fletcher: Adela can't suppress the shiver that runs through her. And, perhaps here she doesn't need to. "I... don't remember much" she says, slowly. "Mostly just impressions. Cold. Dark. Things like that." Her inner light flickers with her agitation, the lightning-like flashes dimming to near nothing.

Aurelio Menegi: Aurelio nodded quietly, looking Adela over. "Was able to recall one encounter with her with some digging, but much the same as you otherwise."

Spicy: "I remember mostly the cold and the wind, I was outside, always outside." She whispers "I remember the few bit of light I ever saw was that ...dancing light through the windows, or torches sometimes outside." she shrugs.

Aurelio Menegi: Aurelio gave another small nod, sitting back in his seat as he thought. "Was mostly inside, from what I recall."

Spicy: She nods and shrugs. "Not a lot of people were outside, it wasn't really... safe out there. as I remember." she shakes her head "Okay I'm not pushing this further in my head, damn." she half chuckles.

Aurelio Menegi: "Probably a good idea." He replied with a small smirk, wry little thing that it was.

Spicy: Spicy hold a finger up and slides off of the booth and she moves toward the counter and grabs herself a round of coffee and then moves back to the booth. "Needed some hot drinks." she explains.

Aurelio Menegi: "Understandable." The thought crossed his mind as well, admittedly, but he remained seated for the moment. If the warmth of his Summer mantle rose in response, could you really blame him?

Spicy: She sips her coffee and she smiles a bit there "Hot is good." She crosses her leg and keep sipping it slowly. A little yawn. "Something ticked you off or you just feel like getting a bit of heat up."

Aurelio Menegi: "The second, in this case."

Adela Fletcher: "Heat's good," Adela says with a nod. She's been silent, and still, wrestling with her own memories. "I was... inside. Performing, I think. When I did well, there was light, and some warm." Her voice falls off, and she looks away. "If I messed up - and you always mess up, sometimes - then it was the cold and the dark." She gives a dry laugh. "Ended up making my own light to deal with it."

Spicy: "Yeah that... sound like I saw someone like that through the windows." She drink a lot of the coffee in one go and point to the tray she brought back "And even if that wasn't. It very much sound like something akin to the rest of what i remember or what Aurelio said." she sigh and goes a little quiet there.

Aurelio Menegi: "Had to take the warmth from others as time went on and the cold went deeper. Was there for...quite a while, though."

Adela Fletcher: Adela shakes her head. "Time... I can't remember that. Might have been a while. Might have not been." She gives another humorless laugh. "Time's still kind of hard. It's why I like keeping my schedule busy."

Spicy: "Yeah, I still want to go to your dance studio." She grins "Maybe my collaboration idea from earlier needs to be a little broader too." She says, speaking about art, trying to steer the conversation from the darkness.

Aurelio Menegi: "Keeping busy does keep one's mind off of it." He nodded quietly, looking to Spicy as she went for the divert. "Perhaps."

Adela Fletcher: "You should come by, both of you," Adela says with a smile that is only very slightly forced. "I love it. It keeps me sane." She's only half joking. Then she shakes herself slightly and shifts in her seat, visibly turning her mind away from memories, however fragmented. "What sort of collaberation are you thinking then?"

Spicy: "It's still in the brainstorming stage, but I'm a sculptor and Aurelio is a glass blower, so maybe something comprising of stone and glass." she looks between them. "I don't think we were sure about what to make, we could make a statue of a dancer?"

Aurelio Menegi: "Hadn't pinned anything down yet, no." Another small nod, followed by looking towards Adela. "Thoughts?"

Adela Fletcher: "Hmm. " Adela drums her fingers on the table as she thinks. "A statue of a dancer could be neat." She is deep in thought for a long moment, drinking her coffee. Finally she sets the mug down and seems to come back to focus on Spicy and Aurelio. "Not to change the subject, but have either of you met Annie?"

Spicy: "Yes, I did recently." Spicy nods at the question, she's done with her coffee and the food,. "Spoke about a few things."

Aurelio Menegi: "Si. Both at her work and more casual interactions."

Adela Fletcher: Adela nods. "I talked with her the other day about possibly forming a motley. For performers among," she waves a generalizing hand. "Our kind. But making it artists rather than just performers might be an interesting idea."

Spicy: "I wouldn't mind, plus I could learn to do stuff. I'm a handy woman to have around." She smiles and roll her shoulders a few times. "I feel as if a sit down and conversation about what our goals would be is definitely a thing that should happen."

Aurelio Menegi: Aurelio perked up notably at the suggestion, giving a firm nod. "Been looking for such, in truth. More than willing to talk on it."

Adela Fletcher: "Oh yea, we'd all have to get together and talk it out but I though it might be at least interesting to bring up." This time her smile doesn't have any sort of edge to it. "It would give us a good way to collaberate on any sort of projects we came up with."

Spicy: "You wouldn't have to cook much anymore, I'm a badass cook." She nods, trying to upsell the skills a little bit there.

Adela Fletcher: Adela laughs. "Why I'm hardly going to turn down food, I don't think motleys have to live together. Honestly, I'd be loath to give up my apartment"

Spicy: "I don't think they do, no, but having a shared workspace in a hollow might be good." She grins "I'm happy with my own home and space too, for now."

Aurelio Menegi: "Indeed. Have a place and hollow of my own, but perhaps one could be expanded on to allow others. Can figure that out, though."

Adela Fletcher: "I feel like we should be keeping a list of things to talk about," Adela says with a laugh. "But it could be good for all of us I think. If nothing else, we might produce some awesome art"

Spicy: "I don't disagree, but I'm not the best note taker ever." She admits with a little smile. "Do we all have each other's numbers?"

Aurelio Menegi: "Would need yours, as this is our first meeting." He nodded to Adela, pulling his phone and poking around on the screen to pull up a new contact entry.

Adela Fletcher: Adela pulls her phone out as well and gives her number. Then she pulls out a buisness card and also hands that over. "The number I gave's my personal one, but this is for my studio. Also has the address if you ever want to stop by." She swipes through her phone contacts and gives a wry grimace. "I really need to clear this out if I keep meeting new folks here. I probably don't need all these numbers form New York."

Spicy: "That would depend on how likely you'd be to call them." she looks around "Maybe you could write down those you clear into a little black book"?

Aurelio Menegi: After giving his own number Aurelio saved Adela's and took the card, nodding as he pocketed both it and the phone. "Take it you're from there?"

Adela Fletcher: She shrugs. "It's all old stuff, from back when I thought I could get my old life back." She sighs and shakes her head slightly, though not in negations. "Was born and bred there, but well, things change."

Spicy: Spicy nods "Yeah, no point in returning wherever I came from either. Not like I'd fit it." she stretches her arms out.

Aurelio Menegi: "Indeed." He gave a solemn nod to Adela at that. "Came here in part because things in Venice were too familiar and not enough, if you follow."

Adela Fletcher: "That's a really good way of putting it" Adela says with a nod. "So we all end up in Philly with new lives." She shrugs again. "There are worse places."

Spicy: She smiles and nods, she stretches her legs out. "I think I might need to move soon, been sitting a little while and I'm getting antsy."

Aurelio Menegi: "That there are." Then again, they had all been in such a worse place before, no? "Should probably get going myself. Was good to talk, though."

Adela Fletcher: "Yes, good talk." Adela says with a smile. "I'll mention this to Annie, and maybe we can all find a time to get together and talk things out."

Spicy: "I would love it! Text me and I'll show up as fast as I can if I'm not in the middle of dealing with food or doing some stuff for the crowns." She slides out of the booth.

Aurelio Menegi: "Look forward to it."
