Lumi gets a phone call! Ring-a-ling!
Lumi picks up after less than a single full ring. "Lumi; speak," comes a voice as cool and flat as the side of a blade.
Lux's voice is out of breath and strained with pain. "This is Lux. Robin just tried to kill me. Snuck into Jack and mine's apartment, stabbed me with an iron knife."
There's a half a second or so of silence and then the faint sounds of movement and Lumi continues, her voice as emotionless as it was when she answered. "Are you in a safe place now? Is anyone currently in immediate danger?"
"I'm on my way to a... safeish place. Dunno where the fuck anywhere is safe from a fucking Helldiver. I don't think anyone is in immediate danger--Jack and I both Light-Shyed and ran."
"Oh, and Robin is a Bridge Burner and has been burning away the city's ability to dream. I'll give a full report as soon as I can. Fuck, I should have said something sooner, but I knew my word didn't mean shit right now and I had no proof. But pretty fucking sure this is proof enough."
"Point, especially if the Helldiver has a way to track you," Lumi answers. All the while there's shuffling and movement in the background of the phone call, and her breath actually comes a little faster. It sounds like someone is hurrying to get out the door after being woken by a phone call at 4am. "Head for the entrance to the Freehold Hollow. I'll rally security for you. Codeword is Landeswehr. If they don't know the code word, don't trust them, even if it's me. Repeat, codeword is Landeswehr."
"Okay." A beat pause. "I'm going to find Jack, then I'll head there."
"Stay moving. If she has Relentless Pursuit, she can track you," Lumi points out. "Stay safe. Is there anything else before I end this call to make others?"
"No, I'm okay. Thanks."
The call just ends.
