The Disaster Darkling House

Log

Lux is at the house. Music is blaring--upbeat pop and hip-hop, a mix of 80s, 90s, and more modern. The cabinets have been based with the pretty dark blue, and now Lux is going around with a smaller brush, painting little flower designs in the corners in colors that match the tiles.

Jack gets their attention by coming up behind them and sliding his hands around their waist - before they've touched the brush to the cabinet. He kisses their cheek with a sigh and rests his chin on their shoulder, not saying anything.

"Oh--shit." Lux gasps in surprise, then huffs out a breath. "I didn't hear you come in." They smile back at him, setting the brush down on a plate. "Hey..." Their smile dims. "How'd it go?"

"Hey." Jack brings a hand up to cup their chin, and gives them a deep, lingering kiss. There's a touch of desperation to it, and scribbles darken his cheeks when he pulls away, slightly out of breath.

"We...stalled 'em. Jesus Christ do I want a drink, though..." He shakes his head. "They want shit from Patriarch Tree, the blight's just an excuse to try and extort shit from 'em. Gonna be some tense negotiating, even if we can stop the tree." Jack leans into Lux, collapsing against them slightly.

"How's your day?"

"Oh, babe..." Lux frowns, wrapping him up in their arms to hold close. "I'm sorry. There's always gonna be assholes in the world, I guess. You'd think after all our sort go through, we'd be above all that..." They kiss Jack's temple. "It was alright. Mostly quiet. Worked here most of the day--got a lot done."

"Sulochana's such an asshole." He says it with fervor. "Glad I had company though, it would'a been so much harder on my own..." Jack sighs, and looks around the kitchen. "Fuck me, this place is really coming together. I got a plumber to come next week, they're gonna take a look at whatever the fuck's happening with the water upstairs...figure once we can actually take a shower in here it'll be move-in ready enough."

"Do you wanna talk about what happened? Or just be distracted?" They rub at his back slowly, smiling as he continues. "Really? That'll be great! It'll be nice to move in here permanently, finally."

"Mmmmm...." Jack melts into Lux as they rub his back. "I don't wanna think about all the shit I've gotta do to deal with shitty, overly competitive assholes..." A sigh, and he nods. "Yeah, all the floor's in and shit. Nothing's finished, but you're not gonna kill yourself trying to walk around. Might wanna paint at least rhe bedroom and shit before we really move in, so we won't have as much furniture to fuck around with."

Lux nods, kissing him again. "I can probably finish painting the bedroom tomorrow, then. That's not a problem. We'll get it livable in no time."

Jack leans into the kiss, adding a little heat to it as he slides his tongue between Lux's lips. He keeps it short though, and pulls away to nod, smiling. "I can't wait. I was telling lionheart the other day, just...being in a space like this. Our space. It's fuckin' special."

Lux never turns down the opportunity to make out with Jack--even if its just short and sweet. "It is special," they agree, nodding. "It's a dream come true, honestly. I didn't expect we'd ever get to this point, months ago."

"Me either. Hell, a couple months ago you were just that fun, gorgeous artist I couldn't stop thinking about." A beat, and Jack grins. "Not that any'a that's changed. Except that you're just a little more to me than that, now."

"And you were the sexy hot mess I was obsessed over," Lux replies with a smirk. "Yeah, not much has changed." Their hands wander lower, still holding him close.

"Me? A hot mess? Never." Jack can only keep a straight face for half a second before he starts to laugh. "Think we've both kinda calmed down about our anxieties, with all this. Least a little bit."

"Hm... with this, yeah. With you. Or we at least realized our love is worth dealing with the anxiety." They smile, combing his hair back from his face. "Look at us, acting like real grown ups."

"Ugh." Jack shudders for comedic effect. "Never wanted to grow up. Still kinda don't. There...was a while where I didn't think I'd be here, Before. But uh." He shrugs, trying to play it off like it's normal. "You know."

Lux falls quiet for a few seconds, then cups his cheek to caress. "Well. You're here. With me. And I plan to grow into a fabulous cooky old biddy with you beside me."

"Good." Jack turns his head to kiss Lux's hand with a smile. "We'll be fabulous elder queers together. Not something I ever saw myself doing, but...I can see it with you." He's quiet for a few moments, thinking.

"Probably means something, huh. That I can see myself getting old with you. That...I wanna."

Lux considers him for a moment, then smiles softly. "It means something good, right?"

"Yeah." Jack pulls back to look at Lux properly. "Lux, I wanna grow old with you. I can see it, and I want it." His voice is quiet, but determined, his cheeks a mess of scribbles.

The Brightone's cheeks glow, shining through orange to a soft pink tone. "Oh..." Their lips curl into a wide, adoring smile. "I want it too. I... fuck. Wow. That's... big..." Then they grab the sides of his face, hauling him in for a passionate kiss.

Jack lets out a soft mmph of surprise, grinning wide, and wraps his arms around Lux, returning the kiss with a sort of desperation. He presses himself against the other Darkling, like even this close isn't close enough for him.

"I love you," he mutters, before going in for another heated kiss.

"I love you too," Lux murmurs against his lips, then turns them both around until Jack is pressed against the counter--then grabs his hips to haul him up to sit on it. Then much, much more kissing.

"Gonna smear all your pretty flowers..." Jack murmurs, grinning, and wraps his legs around Lux's waist.

"I can repaint 'em," Lux murmurs, clearly not caring...
