Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
Of an evening Phyx had invited Jane to come over and catch up, now that the work installing the Armory's Infirmary (Ars Clinica) had been properly completed. The underground operation had been expanded, new halls and rooms devoted to medical care now filling the space. There was a full surgery unit as well as triage, space for patients to rest and recover, and areas designated for physiotherapy and other medical treatments, from MRIs to X-Rays and CT-Scans. Also a pool had been installed, but Phyx didn't outright mention it.
He was waiting in the lounge for Jane to arrive, drinking coffee and faffing about a bit with some random doohickey while he did.
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
Jane came on over, dressed in her BRAVE suit, and headed to the lounge to greet him. Upon seeing him, she smiles and waves, "Hey hey, Phyx. Finally going to be able to get people fixed up properly now, huh? Not just stuff anymore."
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
Phyx looked up and smiled as Jane walked in, giving her a nod. "Lookin' sharp! And yeah, it's a good feeling. Wasn't too difficult to get the area set up, and the tech is the best there is. Should be able to do anything anyone needs, and we can help folks who might not otherwise be able to go to a hospital as well."
He stood, dusting his hands off and picking up his coffee. "Want to take the tour? Want anything before we do? It's not the biggest space in the whole world but doesn't hurt to grab something for on the way."
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
"I'll take a Dr. Pepper," She said as she headed to the fridge to grab one. "Let's go. Might need to bring someone by; I'm going to be training her in some medical stuff so she can help respond to things in an emergency. Won't be here most of the time, I don't think, but still could stand to show her what's available."
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
Phyx nodded and went to fetch a soda, handing over a Dr. Pepper with a grin. "Here y'ar." He blinked curiously at that then gave a nod. "Sounds groovy. Looking forward to meeting them. I can't say I probably couldn't use the same sort of training myself, at least a bit. Bring them by to introduce us and get her a keycard some time. I'm hoping fairly soon we might have some folks down here to be able to help us, manage things when we aren't around and help us coordinate."
As they started to head off, a bright, large blue light joined them, giving a bobbing weave. Phyx smiled and gave it a nod. "That reminds me. Have you met Hypatia yet?" He gestured to the orb of light, a floating polyhedron with an alpha and omega symbol floating in it. After another bob it resolved into the form of a smiling, stately blue woman with four arms and clad in samite. She clasped her hands together and offered a light bow. Her voice was a pleasant contralto. <"Good evening Jane, it is a pleasure">
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
She nods to Hypatia, "Ah, hello. Nice to meet you." She smiles and then looks to Phyx, "So, you've got a friend now, too?" And a chuckle to round it off. "I'm willing to teach you some things, too. Better to have more people around who can handle stuff."
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
The blue woman bobbed in greeting, floating behind them. Phyx nodded. "Yeah. Lesja... C4 that is, helped us meet. We've been getting used to each other and bonding, and coming up with a lot of cool tricks. How's things with Wildcard?"
They started walking along, Phyx showing Jane where all the equipment was. The various scanning and testing technology was spaced out properly so none of it would interfere with the others, while various rooms held not merely beds for patients but large, pod like environments to support a given body in suspension if there was serious damage to the spine or other vital centers. "We got everything up to your specifications as far as we know, but definitely let me know if there's anything else we should have. I'm pretty sure we can do whatever we need to down here."
He gave a thumbs up. "And I concur. More of us, the better. Which reminds me. I think I'm close to getting something set up, and I was wondering if you might want to be a part of it. Time to try and take things to another level for all of us. In dealing with the whole Robo thing, as well as in general."
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
"We're getting along great. It's actually kinda weird having information so available sometimes. She's also a hoot and been encouraging me to be a bit less uptight and stiff." She laughs, "Also doing a good bit more dancing now."
She studied some of the equipment and gave it a check over, "What do you have in mind, exactly? Avengers Initiative or something?"
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
"Well that sounds fine and dandy, glad to hear it. Though I guess I never thought of you as being uptight." Phyx shrugged and smiled. "I think you're a pretty cool cat. Dancing though I can totally get down with. Where do you dance? I'd love to go some time myself."
At her question he just laughed, shaking his head. "Not really. Well... not too much. I do plan on building a big tower, but it's not a group dedicated to punching the world's problems away. It's about doing real social good, helping people who need it, and admittedly on occasion having to deal with some sort of threat. About preparing people for that, help them find an edge in those fights. Such as it is."
"We call ourselves the Beacon Street Irregulars. Well... I do that is. But that's the name. Start a cell here. Maybe one day there will be others." He shrugged. "But I'll start by being able to help Philly, and work from there."
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
"I was kind of.. I dunno, just feeling numb when I got to town and was kind of in that mode I'd go into when I'm about to get disguised for a mission, the whole no-react, neutral look? I kept falling back into that, because I wasn't trusting anyone yet." She sighs, "Because of the Children of the Tree, having that kind of family thing going, I was doing it less but Wildcard sped things up a bit."
She smirks and speaks with a humorous tone, "You had to know I had to ask, since you kind of do have that vigilante superhero drive to you." A little more seriously but still casual, "But it sounds like a good cause, I'd certainly like to know more."
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
Phyx nodded at that. "Ah yeah, I can understand that. Sometimes I get caught up myself in one or the other me, and I agree that Hypatia makes it easier for me to return to the right headspace." They gave each other high fives. "I'm glad to hear it though. That sounds like a much better to place to be in."
He chuckled and tipped his head. "I do. And I can't pretend it's not a similar concept. But it is more about helping others get up to that place where they can go out and help too. I've learned a lot in my time, plenty of tricks, and I'd like to pass them on. Make a place where I can support people in what they want to do, give them a fighting chance. And if it works, build up and not just down, make something that can really do some immense good."
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
"If your thing needs a medic, you know you've got it, right?" She finds something to lean against, and does so, sticking her left elbow out to help hold herself up. "I think that's about the best way I help out."
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
Phyx nodded. "Oh for sure, first person I'd call. But I think you've got a lot more to offer than that. Only so many of us will likely be good with field work, but there's plenty of ends to achieve that I'm sure the two of us would work gangbusters on together. Search and Rescue, Evacuation and Care... those are gonna be important. Frankly, if you'd be up for it, there's going to be a specific wing of all this designed for those purposes. I'd love to have you onside for that. There's going to be some public face stuff on this, and it that'll give us both cover and diversion for the more clandestine stuff. Even if it's still what it actually is."
He gestured above their heads, pointing to the world above the Armory. "I'm going to build up. And what I build will help a LOT of people. And if that works out, what I'm going to do next will hopefully make sure anyone can get medical care anywhere they are far faster than they can now. Cut that time factor to get to a hospital down by a lot. It's not just about getting us altogether, it's about starting something that can stand up to the Seers, to the Robocop nonsense, to whatever that Abyssal whatsit is... a beacon to follow, as things starting getting topsy-turvy more and more."
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
She chuckles and shakes her head, "Maybe Rescue, Evac, and Care. Can offer a bit of help with the Search part, but I always had intel people and mission briefs before my rescues." A friendly wink, "Or I had someone like you."
"Consider me in. For now. We'll see how things go. You know I'm always going to give you a fair shot."
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
Again Phyx tipped his head and that and grinned. "And for sure I'll be in on the job as well. And with any luck, we'll be adding the intel people too. With what I'm planning, we'll make the resources and ability of major government agencies look like a string connecting two tin cans." He waggled his eyebrows and winked back.
He beamed at Jane's words, giving a bright nod. "I will do. And thank you. It's always appreciate it, and I'll do my best never to steer you wrong. Especially on all this. My hope is we'll go from being a small group to something much bigger, real soon."
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
"Cool, can't wait. Who are some of the other people you have in mind for this thing?"
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
"Been putting feelers out. There's a few folks. Psyche, a fellow Delta like us named Canary Quill. Maybe one or two more to start. There's a rabbi I'm planning to meet, sounds like the sort of person I'd like in our ranks. Always ready to take suggestions to, if you can think of anyone. The more folks the better, especially if we can find more support and field agent folks."
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
"Psyche's good people. Very useful on the 'search' end, for sure." She chuckled, "Well, if it's Aaron, you know he's one of the people the Detail had me touch base with when I got to town, yeah? Tell him I said hey." She then stopped leaning and shrugged, "I think all the best people I can think of right now, you know already. But I can keep an eye out for some talent."
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
Phyx laughed, blinking. "Rabbi Aaron Cohen? Yeah that's the guy. Small world." He chuckled and nodded. "She is yeah. And definitely will be. And while I may already know them, doesn't mean I've thought to ask them yet. I'm sure we can get a list going. And I appreciate that as well. We can all try to do the same once things kick off.
Jane/Aya - connie (she/her):
"Sounds good. Now, if you don't mind, I've got an infirmary to put the finishing touches on and get just right for our needs." She chuckles and starts walking back to the entrance of the infirmary area to start walking through with an eye towards moving people in and out.
Phyx - Scaramouche (He/Him):
Phyx nodded, raising his mug in salute. "Not in the least. Give me a holler if you need me. I've got some stuff to work on that'll keep me up for a bit."
