Log

Roger Gimlin
Roger was dressed in a black vest, tie, and jeans with a white collared button up underneath. In the Hedge, the Sasquatch was obvious. Large strands of black hair covered his entire body, sticking out of the clothing. Only his face and palms, visibly at least, did not have fur, instead gorilla like skin and features.

Asbolus
Coming in from work as he was Asbolus was also impeccably dressed, his ensemble as sharp as his features thanks to the deep thrum of the Wyrd within. Keen eyes scanned the grounds of the hollow as he entered, offering Roger a polite nod when he spotted the man.
Avery
Avery was dressed slightly more masculine today, although you couldn't see that much through the Mein. The mein was neutral as always. The Raven had a long black cloak of feathers that almost obscured his face, just the faintest hint of a jawline. He immediately perked up at seeing his mentor, but didn't want to interrupt just yet. Avery watched and waited, not staying hidden but not wanting to distract Asbolus.
Roger Gimlin
The squatch lifted a hand from that too-long arm and too long fingers to wave at Asbolus, happy to see a Lost he recognized.

As the Darkling approached, Rog diverted his path to join up, "Howdy."
Asbolus
"Salutations." He nodded to his fellow Arrow, motioning for Avery to join them if they wished. "Day going well, I hope?"
Avery
Avery waits a moment before slinking over carefully, glancing up at the squatch with a slight bit of wariness. They stay slightly behind their mentor and wave. "Hello..."
Roger Gimlin
"So far so good. Nice slow Sunday. Focusing on making some new tricks. Inspired to go full fledged into the Stage Magic..." and a nod of recognition to Avery, except they bend at the hip rather than neck, "Hello. I'm Roger."
Asbolus
"Ah...sounds interesting. I can do a small bit of sleight of hand myself although I never dove into it fully." He nodded, smiling to Avery as they approached. "Good to see you. How have you been?"
Avery
Avery nods to the other Beast, trepidation still in their eyes as they look up. "Avery, nice to meet you...you're big."

They look to Asbolus, more confident in a familiar face. "I've been...ok. Not doing too much. Just scouting. I saw Ylva again and she was eating her house so I stopped her and...I think made a friend?"
Roger Gimlin
"I look bigger than I am... or I'm bigger than I look.... or I'm just stretched out, unless its an angle things..." he mused, "I know I'm not as tall as true giants around, but I look tall...."

And then he listened to the converstaion about whomever Ylva was.
Asbolus
His eyebrow arched at the mention of Ylva's actions but Asbolus nodded, making a note to inquire with the Beast later about what may have happened. "I see...making new friends is always a good thing."
Avery
"You do look tall. I am not tall. But you are winter, how do you hide if you're so big?" Avery jerks in surprise as a door is closed a bit quickly somewhere else in the hollow.

"I am trying to make friends. I...is he a friend?" Avery gestures to the helldiver with them.
Roger Gimlin
"Mmm... helps that I can go incorporeal and invisible... but I'm more about blending into the crowd than hiding behind lamp posts or something..." a chortle, "... Besides, there are more ways than just physically hiding to learn things."
Asbolus
Asbolus smirked at the question about height, seeing as he and Roger were at eye level with each other. "Wait until you meet Sturm, then; she has a good nine inches on both of us."

"We haven't had much chance to interact lately outside of court functions," he added as he nodded to the Helldiver, "but I've found him to be good company thus far."
Avery
The Summer nods. "I am small, and quiet, and sneaky. I liked Winter but...Summer felt more natural." Avery leans slightly closer to Asbolus. "Asbolus is a good teacher. If you have questions, he knows lots of things."

Avery pauses for a moment, struggling. "Are you willing to be....a friend?"
Roger Gimlin
"Thank you for that, Asbolus," a nod from the waist again.

"Yes, I am hoping that Asbolus here can give me some stage presence lessons. I've been working hard on becoming a Stage Magician. I have the sleight of hand down, but not the gravitas."

And then they paused walking and the man's mouth smiled literally ear to ear, all those thick jagged teeth visible, "Friends are some of the most important thing to me, we can be friends."
Asbolus
"Quite welcome, and thank you. I do my best." He said with a quiet smile, the expression sharp as a blade even without the visible teeth. "It's better that you found the place that fit you best than forcing an alignment that didn't suit you."
Avery
Avery gives a small but clearly excited smile as it was so easy to make a new friend. The nimble Beast walks backwards to keep being able to talk with them, a small skip in their step.. It gives their mind something to do.

"Summer is warm, I like the warm. And I don't like waiting. But...Winter knows lots of things and I like knowing things. All of the courts are good, I just feel....Summer? Like you feel Winter. Its nice to get to choose."
Roger Gimlin
"I almost went Autumn, truth be told. I still work for them frequently..."
Asbolus
"Autumn did call to me as well, and I maintain ties with them, but Winter was a better fit in the long run."
Avery
"We can change to what we feel like, I like that. It helped me feel free." Avery pulls down their hood revealing short hair and a pale face. They have no trouble traveling backwards, only the occasional glance backwards.

"I work with Winter sometimes. I am very quiet and see a lot."
Roger Gimlin
(Sorry, kids distracted)
Avery
(Give them hugs for me! )
Roger Gimlin
"WHat do you do when you're not fighting for the fate of the freehold, or training to do the same?"
Asbolus
"I work as the manager for a local theater here in town, myself. Making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes and arranging the new slate of productions every season."
Avery
Avery stays quiet for a minute, not sure how to answer. "I...do art? Its hard to be around people, they're loud."
Roger Gimlin
"Right. I can't wait to see the theater sometime, maybe book some shows," to Asb. Then to Avery, "Oh. I see. How long havey ou been Ironside?"
Asbolus
"Let me know when you come by, I'll ensure you get the VIP treatment." He replied with a smile, looking to Avery at the question posed to them.
Avery
Avery looks a bit uneasy. "Almost a year now. Its felt fast, but slow at the same time. He made me see everything and hear everything so...the city is a lot to handle. I like trees though, and drawing. Its relaxing."
Roger Gimlin
"I definitely understand that, Friend," with the tone intended to help calm, "I still have trouble not just... wandering to and fro, especially in the Wild."
Avery
Avery shifts side to side but takes a deep breath to calm down. "The forests are constant. You can only change a tree so much before no one thinks its a tree anymore. If you ever want to walk, I like walking. Or flying, I really like flying."
Roger Gimlin
"I can't say that's a familiar sensation most of the time, however when I become something that flies, it is certainly helpful."
Avery
Avery gives a proud and excited grin. "I know the best places to fly. The air does most of the work. I can show you another time?"
Asbolus
"I'd be interested in that, actually." Asbolus chimed in with a small smile. "I recently learned a contract that allows for a winged form, and learning from one more experienced in such would be quite helpful."
Roger Gimlin
"Mmm... I would love that, it is true. I turn into a Hawk when I change, if that limits anything."
Avery
Avery gives an even more excited look. "I would gladly show you how to fly Asbolus. We can all fly together. As long as you don't chase me I have no problems with hawks. What do you turn into Asbolus?"
Asbolus
"A raven." He replied with a warm smile. "Could say a certain source of inspiration brought that about."
Roger Gimlin
A bob of their head again with a grin, "Quite a sign of friendship there."
Avery
Avery shyly scratches behind her ear. "I'm glad. Ravens are good, I like ravens." A moment of seriousness from the Lost that isn't usually present. "Just...be careful around the Freehold. Please."
Asbolus
"Always am." Asbolus nodded, giving Avery a reassuring look.
Roger Gimlin
"Any specific reason why Ravens would be trouble, or do you mean in general or...?"
Avery
Avery nods, nervous to speak. "Some people...don't like Ravens. People like me don't like Ravens. We are watchers." (Im gonna go aquire noms so may be slow)
Roger Gimlin
"Ah. Eyes for the Others?"
Asbolus
After a moment what Avery said clicked and Asbolus nodded. "Understood. Will keep that in mind."
Avery
Avery goes quiet. "I don't want to talk about it."
Roger Gimlin
"Gotcha. Didn't mean to pry. I ... I did a lot of things that I didn't like... everything there was a person at some time... and..." he shook his head, "I get it."
Asbolus
"We all have some red in our respective ledgers, I imagine. Best we can do now is use what was gained there for better causes nowadays."
Avery
The feathers of Avery's cloak are ruffled slightly as the others continue, and their expression goes more blank and they stay quiet. Their eyes start flicking from movement to movement in the room.
Roger Gimlin
He frowned, saddened that his new friend was experiencing some trouble.
Asbolus
Asbolus paused as he saw Avery go quiet, moving to crouch down a bit as to be eye level with the Beast. "Focus on me," he said quietly, offering a hand for them to hold if they so wished. "Listen for my heart beat among the others."
Avery
Avery stops, holding their friends hand and squeezing their eyes closed. Their head turns so one ear is facing Asbolus, listening to his heart, his lungs. Avery starts breathing in tandem with the Darkling.

"Loud, too loud."
Asbolus
Asbolus kept his breathing slow and steady, doing his best to guide Avery into a calmer state. "It'll pass. Focus on me and you'll be fine."
Avery
Avery's feathers move slightly, not quite so puffed up. A minute or so passes and Avery nods, speaking quietly. "Sorry. I'm sorry."
Roger Gimlin
He had gone so still that it was hard to see if he was breathing or blinking.
Asbolus
"No need to apologize. Everyone gets overwhelmed at times." He replied with a quiet smile. "Are you alright?"
Avery
Avery nods, looking up and taking a deep breath before looking back at the Winters. "Tired. My brain is tired. I'm...ok? Its not as loud now."
Roger Gimlin
The Sasquatch still remained still, almost appearing to be a tree to those farther from the trio. Their eyes wide and black as they study the Raven-feathered Changeling.
Asbolus
"Good." He nodded, glancing towards Roger to see if he was doing alright in kind. "No harm no foul."
Roger Gimlin
"Да. Я понимаю, однако, как Зверь, моя хищническая сторона... заинтересованный." Then realizing they slipped into a different tongue, went back to English, "Just... a Beast thing, I think. Predator type, Prey type, things to that nature."
Avery
Avery takes a breath, glancing about the space. 5 things to see...she can see a lot more than that. 4 things to hear...

"Fight, Flight, or Freeze. Instincts are hard, yes?"
Roger Gimlin
"Mmm. Instincts are indeed hard."
Asbolus
"Indeed. Although perhaps not as...pronounced as with you and yours, the call of the hunt is hard to ignore at time."
Roger Gimlin
"Yes. Beyond the instincts of our Seemings, our Kiths can make more similarities... I've seen Elementals that are hungrier than some Ogres.... to stereotype for a point."
Avery
"As a whole, Beasts rely on instincts. But that doesnt mean all of us do...and doesn't mean others don't. Hunting is...natural now." Avery looks around the space.

"Can we go...to a quieter space?"
Asbolus
"Certainly." Asbolus nodded, motioning towards one of the cabins located in the hollow proper before leading the way, holding the door for the pair before sliding in after them.
Roger Gimlin
He followed the pair with long, slow, nearly silent steps. The Courser seemed to even breath silently for their fellows.
Avery
Avery slinks along with Asbolus until they get to the cabin, at which he slinks into a dark corner. She curls up in such a way that they are vaguely circle shaped minus the head, and its impossible to see their legs or arms under the cloak."Thank you."
Roger Gimlin
A piqued brow over at Asb, before a concerned frown takes over again as he looks over Ave.
Asbolus
"You're welcome." Asbolus replied, claiming one of the chairs near the birb loaf but giving them the space they seemed to need. "Been there myself now and again."
Avery
Avery shakes their head. "When one thing is loud, everything is loud."

She looks to the Beast. "Thank you for trying, I appreciate it."
Roger Gimlin
"I figured if I disappeared completely it wouldn't help. So I tried to at least be quieter."
Asbolus
"Keen senses can be a curse as much as a blessing at times." Asbolus noted, his tone implying that he knew all too well himself. "Still very useful, though, so I don't begrudge having them."
Avery
Avery nods, still a loaf. "They are nice...unless its loud. Then its too tiring. It's...easier when theres less people."
Roger Gimlin
He nodded. All of the Lost knew some of this, until they lost their hold on Reality that is...

"I think that is the secret to life. It is easier with elss people."
Asbolus
"Perhaps, but one must take care not to isolate too fully. I fell into that trap myself for far longer than I should have, and it took some time and assistance from others to pull myself out out it."
Avery
Avery slowly nods, their hood back on their head.

"I did too...the Freehold meant I talked to people...Asbolus meant I talked to a friend." There was a glowing admiration in the Beast's voice.
Roger Gimlin
"True... True..." he bent his too-long-for-his-body limbs into strange knots to sit down and tucked his chin to his knees as they all spoke.

"Its why I find friends the most important thing in this world for me. They anchor me."
Asbolus
Asbolus smiled in return, giving Avery a nod. "A good friend and their partners helped to pull me out of my own self-made solitude, and I am more than happy to pass on the favor."
Avery
"I'm want to try to help too...but new people take a lot of energy."
Roger Gimlin
"If new people are tough, would you like some privacy with Asbolus?"
Avery
Avery's head tilts, before shaking it no. "You are...ok. not too much energy."
Roger Gimlin
A bob of the head at the bird loaf, "Thank you. I can certainly get more.... energetic, but as you said, fight, flee, or freeze."
Avery
Avery shakes their head. "No not...you having energy. Its like...a...hm....a battery. Some people drain the battery fast...I don't think you drain it as much? Asbolus doesn't drain it at all."
Asbolus
"I have a rather slow charge speed myself, I suppose." He replied with a wry smirk. "Don't need much to keep me going for a while."
Roger Gimlin
"Ah. Yes. I am good at faking it. Though all things considered I frequently would rather a small group in my Swamp."
Avery
"You have...a Swamp?" Avery looks confused as to why.
Asbolus
"A personal hollow, I presume?"
