The Green Room

Log

Kayla Sockum: Kay arrives at the Green room, passing through the door rapidly and passes by the counter, pays for an order in advance before quickly disappearing into the bathroom, whichever doors they find first. Magic woven into their being to shield and conceal, limits the supernal light given off. A loose fitting, black hoodie and a pair of loose black sweatpants with matching boots, only trace of color on the outfit are the lace, which unsurprisingly depict a rainbow.

Only when they come out of the restroom do they survey the room for familiar faces among the patron, slowly returning to the counter to grab her drink order.

Jeremiah Hamilton: At least one familiar face was indeed present, with the master of the house standing off to the side of the stage speaking with a dark-haired young man with guitar in hand, hashing out the final details before he went up to perform. Once everything was set Jeremiah stepped up to introduce the young performer, giving him a quick wink and a mouthed "you got this" before claiming a seat at his usual table near the office door to observe the man at work.

Kayla Sockum: "Mind if I join you at your table?" Kay asks, approaching once the conversation between Jay and the man is done. Their gaze wanders for just a moment, following the man's journey to the stage, curious to see if they'd know him from anywhere. "Or would I be interrupting your work?" joining a small nod toward the stage as they ask.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not at all." Jeremiah replied with a smile, motioning for Kay to join him as he got settled. "Been working with him for a few weeks and tonight's his first performance here. He's doing amazingly, though, so I know he'll nail it."

Kayla Sockum: "Nice! Glad to see you're still managing to find musical gems." Kay takes a long sip from the drink, nose wrinkling slightly in a sort of wince response to it. "I'm sure his music'll be lovely." They set the drink aside for the moment. "Where did you find him?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: The wince earned a quick "you good?" look from Jeremiah, glancing towards the stage briefly as the song began in earnest before looking back to his cadremate. "At the Attic Youth Center, as part of the volunteer work I've been doing there."

Kayla Sockum: "Oh that's great, does he need further support?" Their face lights up there. "And yeah I'm good, I don't really like black coffee, but I needed a bit of a shock to stay awake in a mundane fashion, so..." a small gesture toward the cup. "Goal accomplished."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmm. He had a rough go of it when he came out to his family recently, so I've been there to help him work through all that. Know how that feels all too well, after all."

"Ah...gotcha." He said with a chuckle. "Been there before."

Kayla Sockum: "Yeah, I'm nearing my limit on the less normal things, so I got to be selective with how I entertain myself." A soft chuckle. "Especially on days where I need some updates to the hardware to function, got a lot done tho."

"I'm glad you're there for him, it's a hard enough thing to realize about yourself, the external stuff is just too much." They leans gently against Jay's shoulder, a gentle show of affection.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Good to hear. Been playing around with my usual daily kit lately as I expand my horizons, as it were, and that's been going pretty well."

He smiled as Kay leaned in, resting his head atop theirs briefly. "Mmhmm. I had some help on that front myself when I came out, so I'm more than happy to pay it forward."

Kayla Sockum: "I already had you guys when some of the stuff hit me in the face, and it was already pretty shaky." Kay nods. "I got lucky there, hopefully I can throw some help out there too. I might visit the shelter a bit later this week, if you don't mind."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not at all. They're a really good group of kids, and the people there take pride in the work they do with them."

Kayla Sockum: "Not entirely sure how or what I can offer for help, but volunteering may help me clear some stuff on my mind." Kay runs fingers over their fingernails, scratching some greenery from there, maybe leftovers from a previous transformation, or some dives or digs into plants back at home. Their attention drifts momentarily toward the man on the stage, swaying a bit to the music being played too.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "They'll find something for you, for sure." He nodded with a small smile, glancing at her hand briefly before looking towards the stage. "What sort of stuff do you have on your mind at the moment?" He asked quietly, keeping the question to the table.

Kayla Sockum: "Just some grime from thinking too much about ridiculous concept that relates to what you and I can do, I need to touch reality a bit, to keep in touch a bit. It's nothing major, but it's still there." they say, knocking quietly onto the table.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah...gotcha." He gave another nod, eyes still on the stage. "Been there myself now and again; it can be easy to get lost in the clouds if you let yourself."

Kayla Sockum: "I'm good at keeping my feet on the ground, but not so good at the burying myself into things too much." Kay sounds like she's making more than a joke than a genuine statement. "I just need to make sure I don't cause more issues than I solve." A look around. "What about you, is everything alright?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Best of luck, and if you need a hand with anything don't hesitate to ask." He nodded, smiling quietly. "Mmhmm. Things here have been going well, everything's good with Polly...all in all I can't complain."

After a moment's pause he looked towards Kay, voice once again kept low. "I've also been gearing up for the next landing on the tower, as it were...think it's time to make that push."

Kayla Sockum: "Nice, I haven't seen Polly over in a bit, I was wondering!" They smiles brightly at that. "If you need anything to experiment, I could help. I don't know much about your specialties, but I imagine I could make myself useful."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "She's been keeping busy on her end, but we're still spending time together." His smile widened at the thought of the Elemental, letting out a content little sigh before he nodded. "Might take you up on that. I know you've made that jump already yourself, so any guidance you have on that front would be helpful."

Kayla Sockum: "I'll be happy to help, broadening Horizons is helpful, but depths is too. Which, vague and unhelpful at this time, but we can converse on that later." A soft chuckle. "And I'm glad you're taking time with Polly and I'm glad it's going well."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Yeah, I figure that's a conversation for the house." He nodded with a chuckle. "I am too. Running into her really was one of the luckiest things that's ever happened to me."

Kayla Sockum: "Which prompts my though of which place is little Cupid is from, could it be the luck place?" Kay ponders aloud, scratching the back their neck.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Perhaps. I've wondered that myself, but considering what I know about what her and hers go through, I'd like to think it's two different places. Paints it with a rather poor brush otherwise." He offered a small shrug. "Who am I to say, though."

Kayla Sockum: "You could eventually find out, I'm guessing it would take a while and much danger though. Finding this level of truth seems like the kind of things that draws attention from the whole world." A shrug, then Kay grabs the nearby cup and finishes the rest of their coffee.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Most likely, yeah. I'm fine with that staying a question for the moment, though." He nodded, sitting back in his seat. "I've got enough things that need answers running around at the moment to add something that far-flung into the mix."

Kayla Sockum: "That sounds like a wise decision to me." Kay chuckles.
