The cold frost had beaten the street well and good. Leaving many cold and huddled for warmth in their homes, but those who had no place to call home did what they always did. Survive.

Snowy had decided the best way to survive the freeze was to nest inside a trash can for the night. As such she was currently rooting her way through a bin and tossing everything into a nearby trash can. Taking a brief moment to examine the collections of trash first to find things that glittered and glimmered. Low and behold, she found a can without its label, which she places inside her jacket.

The owl looks around, making sure nobody saw her hide her valuable, before continuing with the renovations to her new home.

Ed was walking down the street, Guitar in hand and playing a instrumental cover of 'Don't Fear the Reaper'. He walked with rhythm and smiled to everyone he saw, however as he turned his head he saw someone diving down a dumpster, hungry kid, homeless person, he walked over to help them when he saw they where some sort of owl person, realizing what this meant he smiled brightly and put his guitar on his back.

"Hail friend," he said in british accent and waved, "Whatcha looking for?"

The owl peers out over the edge of the dumpster she currently sat inside.

"... A five-course meal, the keys to Buckingham Palace and a million dollars. For right now, I'm looking for a place to sleep." She says, dripping with sarcasm before diving back inside, tossing a handful of dirty rubbish out behind her.

he cocks his head, "I don't know about five course. . .but I know a waffle house with some of the best waffles this side of the Atlantic,' he says taking a small step forward, "It'll be on me, my treat." he adds, "You're new, aren't you?" he asks, his voice having a hint of pity

The pair of yellow eyes return. "Observant ain't ya." Having lost the ability for an eye roll she elects to just twist her neck side to side before diving back down. "And I don't want no fancy waffle shit... I've eaten enough today. I just need to get ready before the peak of the cold comes around."

"Ok," he says, "I'm sure theirs board at the Hollow and if not their are plenty of community centers with warm beds, you don't need to sleep out here."

She raises her arm showing the feathered wing. "I'm not a fan of hand outs..." She states. "And besides, these bastards keep me warm in some positions." She ruffles her wings.

"That's fair, but it's also safety," he explains, "The city can be very dangerous."

"So are strange men approaching women half their size and offering something for 'their treat'"

he blinks at that, holding up his hands, "Sorry, didn't mean to spook ya." he says, holding out a hand, "Edward, proud Ranger of the Leaden Mirror." he offers smiling brightly, "Escaped six years ago."

"Snowy who has no idea what any of those words but only escaped..." She thinks a moment. "...A week ago at least... maybe two days. I've been asleep for most of it."

he raises an eyebrow, "Welcome back," he nods, "Have you met any others?" he asks, "If not, I can show you the Freehold, their are those like us who come together as a community, for protection and fellowship."

"Yeah yeah I got the 'welcome to the team' corpo meeting stuff. You're fine." She says with another neck swivel. "But if you really wanna help move that trashcan under that vent for me and prop it up so it's facing into it."

he chuckles at the 'corpo meeting but nods and follows her instructions, "Nice to met you Snowy." he offers as he moves the trashcan and props it up, "Building a nest here?"

"A temporary one." She states. "Very temporary... I'm still exploring the city and finding a good place to sleep."

"Like I said, the Freehold has room, but if you want your own space, more power to you but I would advise finding someplace very safe, they might come looking for you." he sighs, "But don't worry, an attack on one is an attack on all."

"Yeah yeah... oh spooky monsters are going to come and get me... ooh! I saw two boogymen looking motherfuckers just walking out of the infirmary at the Freehold." She says with a shrug. "I plan to get a tent at least, I just need to find a good place to put it... maybe underground."

She rises and stares down Edward. "...Above ground." She corrects herself.

he makes a mental note but does not say anything, "Do you have any preferences, tall buildings, open spaces, closed spaces?"

"Yes." But she does not elaborate. "I'll sleep on my ideas though..."

he nods, "So, you need anything else done?" he asks, "I'm happy to help."

"Uh..." She blew a raspberry. "A blanket would be good... and some covering for the bed. Don't need a nosy nonce peering their head into the nest."

he thinks, "I think I passed a thrift store, they should have some stuff." he muses, "Want to go check?"

"Alright... but I got no money." She says. "I just need something that'll wrap around me..."

"I can pay for it," he offers, "And if it's a pride thing, then you can work off the debt, I got some errands I could use help with." he shrugs, "Come on, it's this way."

"Yes..." She gestures to her current living situation after hoping out of the dumpster. "I look like such the honorable piece of shit huh..."

"Hey, I squatted under a bridge my first year," he laughs, "Now I got a Hollow, don't sweat it." he says leading her down the street, "So, you join a Court yet?"

"Winter." She says in a quick and gruff answer. "Hence why I plan to make this situation permenant..."

"Autumn." he answers in response, "I find Fear to be more healthy than Sorrow. . ." he blinks and laughs, "Which out of context does not sound healthy at all." he laughs more as they enter the thrift store, "I saw a bed works section here, some nice hand made blankets." he says as he leads her through the store

The owl blocks her eyes from the focused light of the store. "yeah yeah... just find a good blanket before the security starts asking why my jacket is rattling..."

he chuckles, looking through them, "Texture is everything, and nice thick one during the winter," he muses as he picks one up, "Oh, hand woven, has a soft yet heavy feel," he hands it to her, "Thoughts?"

The weight of the blanket almost knocks her on her ass but after a stumble she manages to remain standing.

"It's nice... but will it survive a deep freeze?"

he thinks, getting another one and putting it on his shoulder, "In winter, double down." he says, "Does two work or would you want three?"

"Hoot will do..." She lets out on accident before sighing. "Three... please."

he laughs and takes another one, throwing it on his other shoulder, "Ok, three blankets for the winter, you want pillows or anything else?"

"Eh... I can find that easily." She says. "You'd be surprised what people throw out." Vincent/Thespis/Edward-ET — Today at 6:58 PM he nods and walks over the the clerk, "People do waste treasures." he says as he get's out his wallet, paying for the three blankets, "So, anything else on the list?"

"Nope." She says. "Just want to sleep now..."

"Sleep is good." he nods as they make their way back to the alley, "Where you want them?"

"I'll fix it up." She tells him. "Thanks for the help and all that but I'll be good for now."

"Need anything else, I'll be at the Freehold." he says giving a small bow, "Welcome home Snowey." he says before turning back, getting his Guitar out and playing a cover of Runaway
