Log

---New Scene, Open:Max 5---

Ed was playing in the Hollow again, this was becoming a common occurrence it seemed. Guitar in hand and playing another cover. "I'm coming out of my cage, And I've been doing just fine, Gotta gotta be down Because I want it all," he sings, Mr.Brightside then today. He pours all past feelings of hurt into each lyric.

Joy Hamidi Joy wanders into the area, a small tree-like being growing out of a rock core that seems to have trimmed and grown into a humanoid shape. Emerald set in for eyes and leafages and vines for hair. She is wearing a puffing winter coat, a red scarf and an orange tuque. [7:21 PM] She wanders to the music

Ella Widener -Ella makes her way into the Hollow, her hair loose and she seems to be wearing a mostly black dress. She glances at Joy and offers a nod to the other as she makes her way over to start making some tea, just listening to the music for now. (Picture in picspam)- (edited)

Edward (going to roll performance) [7:27 PM] @Dicecord-CoD roll 10

Dicecord-CoD BOT

@Edward rolled 10 dice and got 3 successes. 3 8 8 1 9 7 7 1 2 5

Edward He continues playing until the song is finished, then puts his guitar down and stretches. "Well, that was nice." he says before looking around, "Think I need a water." he mutters, giving Joy a nod and a wave to Ella as he get's a water bottle

Joy Hamidi

"I think it might be the first time I met you both." Joy says, sounding muffled by the scarf and almost too big coat. "I'm Joy."

Ella Widener

"I'm Ella Widener, Joyeux of Spring. It's a pleasure to meet you. I could be a tad more social but sadly I've had my head wrapped up in a few others projects lately."

Edward

"Ed, Ranger of Autumn." he gives a little bow, "Pleasure to meet you." he comes back and hands a water bottle, "Thoughts on the song, feedback is welcomed."

Joy Hamidi "It was music and pleasant. But beyond that, I'm not much of a musician. I tend to listen to whatever's on the radio in bars I go to." Joy replies. "I'm from the Winter court."

Ella Widener "Getting people to at least thing music is pleasant is what a musician can hope for. So that's not really a bad thing." -she offers a small nod as she takes the small kettle of tea- "Tea anyone?"

Edward "I'm fine with water, but thanks." he says taking a seat, "So, hear about that Slaver, just heard the call like twenty ago, anyone see anything suspicious the last week?" (edited)

Joy Hamidi "I'm planning on digging back into an old investigation I did." Joy explains toward Edward with a somber tone. "If only to rule out potential avenue."

Then a look to Ella. "I truly appreciate the gesture, but I'd rather not have anything right now."

Ella Widener -Ella simply sets the kettle down nearby as she takes a seat herself and takes a drink in thought- "I might be able to help narrow down where the slaver is since most of my contracts help with things like that. But I have not seen anything overly suspicious recently."

Edward "That might help, I make nightly patrols in the woods so I'll see if their's anyone hiding out their."

Joy Hamidi "That might depend on how they operate, contracts can get weird like that." Joy stretches slightly, rolling her weight from foot to foot.

"That might help rule out where they're not, which, is a real time saver when you don't have a lot of information." She says in regard to Edward.

Ella Widener "It's something I'll have to allocate some of my time to, that's for certain. I can't make a snap decision like that right this instant, if possible I would like a little more information on this individual before acting. Sometimes it can be difficult for me to intervene because I don't my my public figure to be influenced by things I do privately."

Edward "True, ask Sigrun about then, she sounded the call." he shrugs, "So, I guess this means security needs to be upped, fuck and I just came back home." he sighs, "Buddy system?"

Joy Hamidi "I'm not sure what you mean by Buddy system."

"And yeah, balancing the iron side and thorn side can be complicated."

Ella Widener "The "buddy system" is one designed to help keep people safe by using two or more people to get to their designated locations. It falls under the whole idea that there's strength in numbers. My issue with it always was . . . the person who gets home with the other person then basically leaves that person to get home alone."

Edward Ed goes wide eyed, "Holy shit. . .I never thought of that." he says, mind blown expression on his face, "But in all seriousness, we should report any suspicous lost, I think last person to join was Snowy and she was saved by a Motely, so she's fine."

Joy Hamidi "Well, I should probably meet her." Joy looks about curiously. "I may have to depart and go read some old stuff about this."

(i.e. i gotta prep for work ._. )

Ella Widener "Have a good night and stay safe, now more than ever." -a pause- "Yeah that was the issue I always had with that system. There's a fundamental flaw to it. You are indeed safer while together but unless you're going to the same destination the whole time, at some point, it looses it's strength."

Edward "Wow, never thought of that." he says, "Be safe Joy." he nods, "So, Slaver aside, how have you been recently?" he asks, trying to lighten the mood

Joy Hamidi Joy leaves, removing her orange tuque and putting on a white hat as she activates Ermine's Winter Coat to go on her way home. (thanks for the rp)

Ella Widener "I've been fair, going to have to make some alterations to my original plan for the party and with the current state of affairs . .. I'm starting to think that it might be wise to push it back for a little bit. At least until some of the city issues are resolved."

Edward "Prehaps shift it to a victory party?" he offers, "That should be a blast."

Ella Widener "I wouldn't be so brazen as to declare it a victory party before the victory part of that actually takes place. I find that getting things ready for a preemptive party can lead to a bad time."

Edward "True, we don't want to jinx anything." he relents, "If anything, this is showing me I need to look for folx to get a Motley together." he shrugs, "Saw your note, would be lying if I said I wasn't interested in teaming up." he smiles

Ella Widener "I think we'd need at least one more before we could call it a deal. I want to make sure that we aren't just a party of two. But there is certainly a chance that it could happen. You are the first person to say anything."

Edward "Yeah, I meant intrested in joining, I have met a certain Owl who seems to need a hand. . .but also don't seem like they want to accept others help just yet." he shrugs, "I feel bad for them, I was like that the first year, it doesn't help anyone."

Ella Widener "I know, I would like a party of three before we make everything official. Though I am interested in meeting this Owl if you think that there might be something there. I would appreciate an introduction."

Edward "Snowy, new page for winter, recently escaped." he relays, "But they seem. . .hesitant to accept help, I'm worried about them, especially with Slavers about."

Ella Widener "Did you get any information such as how to communicate with them?"

Edward "I found them on the street, trying to make a home from a Dumpster, bought her three blankets," he says, with a touch of pity, "If she's in the WInter Court we can ask around their, I'm going to be honest I don't know her at all . ..I just feel bad for them, their brand new and now this is happening."

Ella Widener "That's not ideal. I tend to allow people to stay with me if they need a place to call home until they get their lives sorted out. The only thing I ask in return is that if my home comes under attack, which I have been fortunate so far, is to help defend it as if it were your own."

Edward "Ok," he nods, "Understand, I'd still like to help them somehow, but a more experienced Lost would be better, I'll admit." he replies, "Maybe we should look for someone who's a clear warrior, I can hold my own in a fight but I don't think I can last long solo."

Ella Widener "I am not a fighter in any sense of the word. I help keep people in the fight but I don't actually fight because I dislike fighting."

Edward "Perhaps we should ask around the Summer court then?" he suggests, "We can find a tank their." he says, referring to the classic party role, "You play MMO's?" he asks, just to check if she understands the joke

Ella Widener "I do not. I'm afraid I don't exactly play many games?" -she does seem to be guessing that's what's being referred to here- "I tend to read and occasionally watch movies. Other than that I'm afraid I don't have that much knowledge in that particular area."

Edward "A tank is a party member whose strong enough to take the brunt of damage and take it, while the others damage the foe." he explains

Ella Widener "But if someone heals this "tank" wouldn't it be tactically more efficient to then ignore the tank and target the healer? Without someone healing other's wounds the whole foundation collapses." (edited)

Edward "That's the thing, the Tank makes them focus on them, so the healer stays behind, the tank is right their in the face of the foe, like going hand to hand while other focus fire and heal them."

Ella Widener "But this isn't a video game. So couldn't someone just ignore you? Unless I mean a contract forces engagement with this "tank" I still feel like the best solution is to target the ones who heal. Though I suppose that according to the Geneva Convention, knowingly firing at a medic wearing clear insignia is a war crime. But I'm not sure how much that would apply to our rules of combat."

Edward he chuckles, "True, gaming party logic probably won't apply to real combat, unless contracts are in the mix." he considers, "I guess I mean someone who can take a big punch without it phasing or hurting them would be nice," he shakes his head, "But I can't think it like that, we're talking about forming a group with people so seeing who most vibes is the best course." he laughs, "Sorry, I like gaming."

Ella Widener "There's nothing wrong with speaking about things that give you joy or spark happiness within in you. In fact as a member of the court of emerald court I'd almost say that if I'm helping you to speak about such things, I am doing my job."

Edward he smiles brightly, "Thanks, I know some people are bothered by 'nerding out', at least I know I can be a dork in front of you and you won't think less of me." he says, hint of a blush on his face, "You have any thoughts in specific who we should look for?"

Ella Widener "I would probably ask Spicy and see if she might want to join in. I've known her for awhile and maybe she'd be willing to give it a go or at least a shot and see what happens. I already have a large hollow and an estate so I do have both locations covered."

Edward "I got a pretty large hollow as well," he admits, "It's like a mansion in mystical woods kinda thing . . .it's always night though." he shrugs, "I haven't met Spicy yet, would like to met them though."

Ella Widener "Spicy likes to make food so at least we'd never be wanting for food. I think she's good at fighting too though I've never been in an actual conflict to attest to that. But someone to keep in mind."

Edward "Food is nice," he nods, "Best way to win someone over is to give them good food, it's a universal truth." he chuckles, "So, just want to check, do you think we vibe, for being a Motley together?" (edited)

Ella Widener "I think there could be potential, yes. Though I do wish for at least one more member simply because two people banding together doesn't feel like a full motley to me."

Edward "Agreed, two people don't make a Motley. ..or maybe some do but I feel a bigger group can do more." he shrugs, "Spicy sounds like a nice addition if she wishes, I'll look for others as well."

Ella Widener "What was the name of the courtier that you met?"

Edward "Snowy, but they honestly don't seem like they want a helping hand, I'll try, especially now with the Slavers, newbies can be the most vulnerable to them."

Ella Widener "It might be a fair idea to set me up a meeting with them, that way I can speak to them and figure out if they want or need help with anything."

Edward he nods, "Agreed, I'm not saying we need to recruit her, just feeling a bit sorry for the newbie."

Ella Widener "Like all emotions, pity can be a double edged sword, I find it best to attempt to be empathetic towards their situation. Empathy shows that you feel what someone else feels and you accept that without giving an impression of them possibly viewing what you've done is simply because you think they're beneath you."

Edward he thinks on her words, "Your right, empathy if better than petty, just as wrath is better to anger and so on and so forth." he nods his head, "Then to be more clear, I emphasize with their situation, I'm reminded of my first few months out." he sighs, "It's been a few years but I still can't believe I'm out."

Ella Widener "If anything I believe I would give Snowy the option to earn their keep so they know that what's being given is being given because I see value in them. In turn because I see value in them I believe I have tasks that might suit their skills." (edited)

Edward "That. . .might be a good way of going at it." he admits, "So far I think your going to be the brains of this group that's forming." he chuckles, "So, talk to Spicy, check in on Snowy and see if they would consider 'earning their keep', I've heard of a Summer assassin, Avery, maybe we should meet them sometime?"

Ella Widener "The name is familiar, I admit that. Though I do not believe I have gotten the chance to meet them. My note is out for all of those to see and I appreciate it when people take the time to call me. I understand we're all busy, I have responsibilities to try and keep up with so I can't exactly run around and seek out every member of the hold and ask them if they're interested in forming a motley."

Edward "Exactly, best course would to simply met people naturally and see if anyone else wishes for one."

Ella Widener "I'm not sure I'd be the brains, I simply tend to take a longer time to think about things before committing to taking an action. However, when I take an action it is generally one with a higher success rate for myself or those the action is meant to assist."

Edward "That should help balance me, I don't plan as much as go with my emotions, so such an influence would be good." he nods smiling, "I think this might work out, find others with good synergy."

Ella Widener "Emotions are very important to us as Lost and as Humans, though we must temper them with thought and foresight if we are to come out in the best possible position. If we neglect thinking about the repercussions of what an emotion causes, we can end up endangering not only ourselves but our fellows too." (edited)

Edward "I did a lot of soul searching the last year," he admits, "And I'm reader to temper my emotions, not be ruled by them, although sometimes letting them guide me can be fun." he chuckles

Ella Widener "It can be, you simply need to be able to recognize those situations and make certain that's what they truly are."

Edward "They also help with art," he gestures to the guitar, "But like you said, best for them to be tempered with wisdom and forsight." he thinks, "So um. . .I was wondering, you want to hang out some time, jam sessions, maybe coffee?"

Ella Widener "We could do something like that as friends, certainly." -She nods her head-

Edward "Sounds good." he nods, "I'll be seeing you." he smiles, picking up his guitar, "Stay safe, keep an eye our for anyone sus."

Ella Widener "Enjoy your evening, Ed. Stay safe."
