Outside the Arboretum of the Martyr's Tree

Jeremiah:
Jeremiah remained quiet as he walked beside Klaire out of the arboretum and into the city proper, keeping his pace even with hers. Eventually he spoke, watching her out of the corner of his eye. "I know you don't know me from Adam, but if you want to talk about what happened in there I'm willing to listen. I can tell that threw you off."

Klaire:
Rook was back on his leesh, and still had his vest on. He was focused and his head was up and proud to be ON THE JOB, OMG WASNT THIS SO EXCITING???

Klaire however was quiet until Jay spoke. "I don't know. It just...felt weird." There was clearly more to it but she bit her lip instead of continuing.

Jeremiah:
"How so?"

Klaire:
"It felt...invasive? It made me want to be defensive. Usually I'm good at...repelling those sorts of attacks so letting it happen felt wrong."

Jeremiah:
"Understandable." He nodded quietly. "It's not an easy thing to let someone else into your head, especially if you don't know them well."

Klaire:
Klaire goes quiet for a moment, not meeting the Mage's eyes. "I think it was something else too but...I just....words are hard."

Jeremiah:
"They can be, yeah." He smiled a touch. "Would it be easier to think it at me?"

Klaire:
"That's somehow worse. Should we even be talking about this outside?" She stops so Rook can smell something interesting.

Jeremiah:
"I can give us some privacy." He replied quietly, watching Rook as he explored with a small smirk.

Klaire:
"Could you? I just...it feels too public here." Rook continues sniffing at a garden bed, a squirrel runs up a tree and Rook's eyes follow it, but he doesn't bark. He is on the job!

Jeremiah:
"No problem." Jeremiah nodded, pulling the brass serpent from under his shirt again but not using that odd tongue, weaving the magic around the trio with practiced ease. Klaire would notice the sudden lack of eyes upon them, the world conveniently ignoring their presence. "There we go."

Klaire:
Klaire watches the Mage, and waits until they keep walking. "Thats...an interesting one."

She keeps her voice quiet. "I don't know. Do you ever feel...wrong for using your magic on other people?"

Jeremiah:
"Comes in handy if you need to get in or out of somewhere without being noticed. Doesn't work on cameras or the like, but with the right knowledge of Forces you can cover that as well."

His features softened hearing her question, giving her a reassuring look. "I have, yeah."

Klaire:
Klaire nods, half registering the magic. She gives Rook a soft pet as he hangs back to be with them.

"Having the Telepathy used against me...it made me realize something that I hadn't really considered before. New perspectives and such."

Jeremiah:
"What's it's like being on the other side?" He asked, watching her as they walked. "Not being in control when someone else is in your head?"

Klaire:
She nods.

"Even if no one is prying...and I try not to pry farther than what keeps me safe...it still feels wrong. Just...having someone there, nearby. Its not a wonderful feeling."

Jeremiah:
"As odd as it may sound, the fact that it bothers you is a good thing. It means that you understand what you're doing and the impact it can have on others, and that you care about their own comfort and autonomy." He tapped his temple briefly as he continued. "One of my earlier mentors impressed upon me how invasive that kind of magic can be, and I took it to heart."

Klaire:
She nods slowly. "I can see how that's a good thing, but it is bothering me that I'm just now realizing it."

Jeremiah:
"Better late than never." He said with a small smile. "Keeping that in mind can help guide you in using them going forward, now that you've been in their shoes."

Klaire:
There's a small smile on her face. "That's a good point. Thank you Jay, I'll try to keep this in mind then."

She pets Rook as they walk. "Maybe it was a good thing that I needed to join a group. I guess we will see."

Jeremiah:
"Happy to help. We all walk the Path in our own way, and if I can help others navigate it more clearly then all the better." He smiled in return, nodding as she continued. "I'm glad to have you with us, if anything. You've got a good head on your shoulders."

Klaire:
She gives a small chuckle. "I am glad you think so. I should get home...get dinner. No offense but I'd rather not reveal where I live. Do you mind us ducking down an alleyway?"

Jeremiah:
"None taken." He nodded, turning down the next available alleyway to give her a quiet place to do her thing.

"Thanks for meeting up with me, it was rather enlightening." He smiled warmly. "Don't be a stranger, yeah?"

Klaire:
She kneels down next to Rook, and Jay can see her telepathy from herself to Rook. A few seconds later Rook disappears.

"Of course. I look forward to meeting you again. Take care Jay." She gives a polite nod and similarly disappears into thin air.
