Log

Klaire:
Klaire was at her office, cleaning up for the day. Rook was snoring softly, on his back, legs occasionally kicking in the air. She was done with clients for the day and hadn't expected anyone else, so making the space look presentable for the next few days was important.

Karas:
Karas would gently knock on the door to Klaire's office with a singular knuckle. "You free for a few minutes boss," spoken to break the silence and truly check to see if Klaire was in there or had slipped out earlier.

Klaire:
"Motherfu- Hello Vulture. Yes, yes, come in. Close the door if you don't mind."

Rook shakes himself awake and trots up to the familiar man, running a circle or two around him and sitting all pretty for pettings.

Klaire puts down whatever she was cleaning. Klaire was a...thin woman, but them both being PIs, and noticing all the details, it was clear she had lost a bit of weight dince they last met, and not in a very healthy way.

Karas:
"Please, you can just call me Karas. There is no need for nicknames and such when we're not on the field."

Karas would smile a little as Rook would run around him before giving the well-deserved pets he needed. "Hello there Rook, have you been working hard today? Thank you for all you do.."

The man would look up at Klaire, and the smile Rook gave him would only slightly drop as he saw her in such a state. But before throwing any questions onto the metaphorical table, he would respect her request and kick the door shut with his boot heel.

"What happened to you?"

Klaire:
"Habit. You are always welcome here Karas." She puts down the last thing, throwing out the wipes and gesturing to the comfy seats she had.

"Long and stressful weeks. You saw what happened with Ylva and Astrid, yes? I was too stressed to eat, working on that now."

Karas:
"No I haven't, the month has been a Kaleidoscope of Kidnapping and Murder cases, promptly by the overhaul caused by your escapade."

He would accept her gesture and promptly take advantage of a comfortable seat, his own joints cracking after finally being able to relax. "We have the time, if you are willing to discuss it at your leisure."

Klaire:
"I was sick, you got paid well and if I remember correctly, which I have texts to prove, you agreed to it." She winces at the bones crunching, although is used to it at this point.

Ylva:
Said Ylva had been poking around worried about Bones and Klaire.

This meant that a little red Fox ran its way into the office then saw someone she didn't know and panicked. Poking Klaire in the leg then running out a window.

Karas:
"I never said I didn't agree to the extra work and pay. But it's my reasoning for not being up to date on recent events, nonetheless."

Karas would smirk a bit at her wincing before crossing one leg over the other and resting his hands on his elevated knee. While his line of sight was set on Klaire, he would make note of the fox quickly running in and out and pay it no heed, it wasn't the weirdest thing he had seen in this office.

Klaire:
"That...is rather fair. I still appreciate it Karas."

She blinks several times as the fox runs through the office, taking a second to process. She decides to play it off.

"Was that....a fox? Frankly not the weirdest thing that's happened while you've been here."

Ylva:
Ylva then walked in the front door. Ignoring the Fox that ran through the office.

"Hey sweetie." A hug to Klaire.

"Hey Karas. Nice to see you."

Karas:
"A pleasure as well Miss Ylva," he would nod his head to her before looking back at Klaire.

"What fox are you talking about, has the starvation made you delirious? You're also continuing to dodge my question of what happened to you, but if you wish for me to stop prying I will."

Klaire:
"Is there a memo I missed. Everyone is just showing up here today." She says it with a small smile, offering the seat next to her and squeezing Ylva's hand.

"No, I answered already Karas. I was too worried to eat while the case was active. Ylva and Astrid were falsely accused of murder. I feel like that would stress any partner out, it simply manifested in an eating disorder for me."

Ylva:
"She was, under a lot of stress because of my choices. Thanks sweetie."

A kiss to her cheek.

"I dunno, I was worried. So I turned up."

Karas:
Karas would shoot a glare at the comment made by Ylva before letting out a sigh. He had barely any evidence to go from except a few odd ends that just struck him wrong.

"Alright, I apologize for the behavior. I'm glad everything turned out well in the end and things were resolved."

Klaire:
Klaire also glanced towards Ylva, about to comment, but just readjusts in her seat.

"We are all friends here. I'm very glad it worked out well too."

She leans her head on Ylva's arm.

"Why were you worried, darling?"

Ylva:
"Sorry. Not sure, where the lines are today."

She leans into the head.

"Bones was off, sulking."

Karas:
Karas would quietly lean back into his chair as if trying to get comfortable. Before sliding his left hand away from his knee and to his lap as his right would go to his waist. Carefully, he would move his left hand further to his side where the gun holster would be.

"Bones? Is that the nickname of one of your lovers? Or is this another individual all together?"

Klaire:
Klaire's eyes flick to his side.

"Karas..." her eyes flick away, and tries to keep calm. "...why are you going for your gun?"

Ylva:
Ylvas hands flare claws extending on her Mein.

"Please don't." She looks to Klaire.

"Is this a safe place?"

Klaire:
"It's supposed to be, but that entirely depends on Karas's answer."

She glances towards the door, currently open.

"What's going on, Karas?"

Karas:
"Apologies, I was just checking to make sure that..that was still secured. Gotta be careful when keeping them on you at all times cause you work a dangerous job," Karas would quickly dust the holster off before moving his hand away from it and back to his other hand.

"Do guns not startle you two? I'm more than welcoming to put it on a shelf or on the desk so everyone has eyes on it." While his tone remained calm his eyes would shift to look at the door before looking back at Klaire and Ylva with a more relaxed expression than before.

Ylva:
"Are you safe Klaire? Hun. What's going on. Did I fuck up?"

Her hand very gently is placed on Klaire's shoulder to not impale her.

Klaire:
Klaire watches, a tense moment building, before she decides to break it.

"We apologize Karas, its been a stressful few weeks and I'm very on edge. Now that I think about it, you've checked for your gun dozens of times around me. It was just surprising to see it while here. This is supposed to be a safe spot."

She holds the hand from the side, guessing what happened knowing her partner so well.

"No Ylva, you're fine. Bones is a nickname we have for a close friend who helped us out a bunch emotionally during the investigation. They are an archeologist, do lots of digs. So, you know, Bones." A slight smile to Ylva. "Someone is getting sweet for them too."

Karas:
"Please, the fault is mine for such a scare and assumption. There is no need to apologize. While I can agree this is a safe spot for Ylva's sake, my job of being a detective that thrives on Murder Cases tends to have "unwelcome and unwanted" visitors that wish to get rid of the one following the loose ends they make."

Karas would lean forward, now back to a monotone expression plastered on his face. "Seems we both know someone who has Bones as an alias, but that's besides the point, what else have you two gotten into that I've missed?"

Ylva:
Ylva leans back into a chair looking tense. Her talons carving the side of it.

Her face still looking tense.

There is a slight inhuman growl that passes her lips.

Klaire:
Klaire's eyebrow raises, and Ylva would get a burst of Kenning, and her face suddenly goes slack. A second burst of Kenning and there is a clatter as the gun...appears on the table. It's no longer at his side. Ylva can feel the Pull of Love, Klaire was getting tired.

"Karas, close the door. We need to talk."

Karas:
Karas would get up and close the door before a sudden click would be heard through the office as he would be turn the lock. He would then turn around and look at the pair with a gaze that would remind Klaire of the same he'd give during his investigate thinking.

A cold emotionless look with the slightest tinge of empathy.

Ylva:
Ylvas face doesn't change. Looking tense.

"Klaire." A pause. "You sure about this?"

The edge of her chair ruined from her claws digging at it.

Klaire:
"Either Karas is going to explain how he knows about Bones, Psyche, and Thespis, or we are calling Bones and Sigrun."

She eyes the man she has worked with for years, blocking her emotions from her face.

"Start talking. And Ylva, please move your hands if you could."

Karas:
Karas would take a moment as his expression would break to confusion and surprise before nods with a small smile, "Gotten better with being a detective haven't ya kid..well done."

Putting his back to the door with a chuckle he would continue, "I'm a cop in the norm and when it comes to magic in all it's funny things. Though I'm more "Sleeper" than magi expect but when they need a Magi casting a dangerous rite to go night-night I get it done pretty well. It's also why I have Hollow Point bullets in Bernadette, the gun."

Ylva:
Ylva for her part doesn't remove her claws from the chair. But her eyes do glance down to the collar bracelet on her wrist.

"Not super happy right now love. Like. At all."

She looks to Klaire a tilt of her head. A clearly canine gesture of questioning.

Klaire:
Klaire's brow furrows.

"You're a Sleepwalker, yes I know the terms. What's your affiliation Karas? Or better yet, what's your full title."

She pets Ylva's hand.

"Keep it there if you need to then, hun. I can buy new chairs." (edited)

Karas:
"Karas "Vulture" Vodun, Sleepwalker, Cultor of the Guardians of the Veil and self titled literal Sleeper Agent."

Karas would chuckle a little hearing the full thing said out loud before following up, "Apologies for mucking it up this badly today."

Klaire:
Klaire sighs in relief, looking up at Ylva.

"He's okay. You can relax."

She gets a bit more formal.

"Sleepwalker Psyche, Acolyte of the Silver Ladder, Dep...now Former Depty to Sentinel Bones and waiting on that whole mess to resolve."

"I apologize for being defensive, your mind is strong so I couldn't find out too much about what you knew. I was worried you were a Seer."

Ylva:
Her claws retract looking down at the now wrecked chair.

"Whoops. Haven't done that in a while. I'll. Get you another one."

Another tilted head to look at Karas.

"Well. Our dinner nights got awkward."

Karas:
"Trust me, if whole thing would be getting far more uncomfortable if you dug any further into my mind Klaire, but I am impressed you were able to do it silently." The man would chuckle at the comment and form a smile,"Doesn't have to be awkward unless we make it awkward. But I am happy to know I'm not alone anymore, thank you for allowing me to explain myself...can I have Bernadette back now..?"

Klaire:
"I've had years of practice, Karas. But I have only been with the Consulium for...5ish months? Something close to that."

A look to Ylva as she offers a supportive hand.

"Yes, if it makes you feel safer and you won't shoot us. It should have cooled off by now."

She takes a deep breath. Adrenaline fading.

"So what are you? A Sleepwalker, yes, but what exactly? And how long have you been in all of this."

Ylva:
She takes that hand a gentle squeeze.

"Still not happy one of our friends went for their gun. But if it makes you happy sure."

She looks down at the chair. Mouth opening to make a threat then looking to Klaire.

Karas:
"If you have something you want to say, say it Ylva," Karas would walk over and put his gun back in it's holster before turning to Klaire.

"Why would I shoot friends, unless one of you came at me with lethal force then I would be inclined to defend myself. I've been with the Veil for only a month before today, but it really doesn't feel like my place since I have no defense against magic except well..fist to chin and Bernadette."

Klaire:
"I will admit, I didn't like the fact you went for the gun either. It's why I teleported it away from you at the first chance."

She offers her lap to Ylva, scritching the back of her head.

"So no magic or the like? Anything beyond human ability?"

She nods.

"I'm a psychic, and have been for....a decade and a half. I have had that entire time to develop my abilities. As you can imagine its made this job much easier."

Ylva:
Ylva scoots into Klaires lap. Tails wrapping around her.

"Im not Human. I don't want to put Klaire in Danger. Don't pull that again or you will look like this chair."

Karas:
Karas would nod his head to the affirmed agitation the two had and would respond back to Klaire's question as casually as he could allow himself to be,"Just a washed up human that's on the Magic Police for being too human to be detectable, guess even downsides come with talents."

With Ylva's subtle threat being thrown in his direction he would have to do a double take on the chair's condition; seeing the state it is in now he wouldn't second guess the fact what she was saying is true and purely respond with, "Noted."

Klaire:
"Ylva, he is still a friend, we just scared him like we were scared. Can you take some deep breaths for me?"

She strokes Ylva's back, giving her cheek a kiss.

"I admit, I'm a bit dissapointed at your choice of Order, but not entirely surprised. I'm certain you are just as dissapointed in mine. But...I hope we can still be friends despite how much this just changed a lot."

Ylva:
A happy wiggle at the kiss.

"Ill take a walk. See you later. Just. Sorry. I'll be at home later."

With that her form shifts into that of a fox and she hops down running out the window.

Karas:
Karas would chuckle before opening the door as Ylva successful left through the window, "Trust me, if I had chosen it would've been a far different outcome for a lot of things. I have no reason to be disappointed in anything you or others do, we've all got our reasons for picking or acting and just..end up in situations. I may not understand the gravity of change it is between all of us or who you tell about this, but I can assure nothing has changed my perspective of you."

Karas would smile as he would start to leave before giving a small salute, "Keep up the good kid, I'm sure stuff will work out, and if it don't..eh you got me in your back pocket."

Klaire:
"Please be safe Ylva, text me when you get home." She blows a kiss towards her lover.

"You can always change. I did so. You are not stuck if its an Order you don't like. I hope this doesn't change too much, and that I can rely on you if needed."
