Maddy's Wafflehouse

Log

Erik Samuelson: Another shift done, another visit to everyone's favorite supernatural diner after not feeling inclined to cook for himself at home. Erik had laid claim to one of the booths with an easy view of the portal, dressed casually with a leather knife roll at his side. A cup of coffee sat nearby in easy reach, the Bound idly skimming through his phone while making the occasional comment to no one in particular as far as most were concerned.

Adam Harken: Adam walked into Maddy's for a morning coffee, Cadre officially recognized, agencies looking up, producing an ep of Always Sunny, wonderful night with a vampire, "Should have moved to Philly a long time ago." he mutters as he scans the Waffle House

Erik Samuelson: Erik glanced up from his phone at Adam's arrival, lifting his coffee cup in a small salute. "Morning."

Adam Harken: he nods back, "Morn," he offers, "Adam." he says sitting down on a stool, swirving it to face him

Erik Samuelson: "Erik. Good to meet you." He took a sip of his coffee, looking the mage over. "Looks like you're off to a good start."

Adam Harken: "Had a good week after a rough one, so the universe seems to balance it out," he shrugs, "Forgot the golden rule, everything even's out in the end."

Erik Samuelson: "Ah...always a plus when that happens." He nodded, smirking a touch. "Was slammed all of this past week myself, but such is the way of things for restaurant work when it comes to Valentine's Day."

Adam Harken: "Ah yes, the day where I got a hangover," he rolls his eyes, "Never understood the need for what's a Hallmark holiday, it's like, be a couple every day, not just the one."

Erik Samuelson: "Inclined to agree, but we roll with it. That week usually keeps our books in the black for the rest of the month so I'm not complaining too hard."

Adam Harken: he sips his coffee, "I guess, never did much good for me, but it's a reason to drink, so that's a plus." he shrugs, "Then again I'm just an old man complaining."

Erik Samuelson: "No worries. I haven't been in a relationship in a while myself so that part of the holiday doesn't really apply." He offered a shrug of his own. "To each their own."

Adam Harken: "So, it's day so you don't drink blood, haven't seen you at the company," he thinks, "What's your talent?"

Erik Samuelson: "To use the old line, I see dead people." He replied with a smirk. "Sin-Eater, or Bound if you're familiar with the term. Yourself?"

Adam Harken: "I awoke from a lie to see the truth," he shrugs, "I know some things on the dead, but I lack the insight you might have."

Erik Samuelson: "Ah. I've met a few of yours here and there. Always very impressed."

Adam Harken: "Well, I'm trying to focus on mundane work," he shrugs, "Entertainment industry."

Erik Samuelson: "Oh? What kind?"

Adam Harken: "Moved her from LA, I'm a talent agent, but in that capacity I've now found myself producing."

Erik Samuelson: "Gotcha. You do more with music or film?"

Adam Harken: "Film, when I said I moved from LA, I worked Hollywood," he smiles

Erik Samuelson: "Ah...bit of a jump from there to Philly, then." He paused briefly as a small flare-up in the kitchen caught his attention, watching the fire for a moment before looking back to Adam. "From here myself, although I've traveled around a little bit."

Adam Harken: "It was a hell of a jump, but one that needed to be taken," he shrugs, "So far the town has been a change of pace, although it's sports fans can be a bit extreme, though the city was going to burn from the super bowl."

Erik Samuelson: "You should've seen it when we won in '17." He replied with a chuckle. "We've always been a unique bunch, but I wouldn't have it any other way."

Adam Harken: "It's a weird place, but it's honest, LA was a lie wrapped in a false promise, and it seems the night folk get along better than other cities."

Erik Samuelson: "So I've heard. Only really dealt with folks here on that front, and even then only in the last year or so."

Adam Harken: "Trust me, in LA, it's a Cold War, same thing in every other city to be honest, the night side don't talk to eachother and take pot shots at Sleeper puppets and allies."

Erik Samuelson: "Huh. That's a shame, honestly." He shook his head. "We do better working together than being at each other's throats."

Adam Harken: "It's the state of the world, Lost wish to isolate, Vampires are mostly concerned with cultivating power, and we see ourselves as above it all, it's not good but it's the way most cities are, Philly is a beautiful exception, people here cooperate and it get's shit done."

Erik Samuelson: "Mmhmm. Haven't gotten too tangled up in the bigger stuff here yet, but I've offered my help where I can."

Adam Harken: "This city does have a cop problem, all cities do but it seems people thought Robo-Cop was a manual rather than a warning."

Erik Samuelson: "So I've heard. Right bastards, the lot of them." He shook his head, taking a sip of his coffee. "And now they're ramping up with even larger units in the pipeline."

Adam Harken: "I heard their hurtning normal cops too now," he tilts his head, "As cynical as it it, if we can manipulate the media to focus on that, then we can try to make the people who love 'Blue Lives Matter'," he says the words mockingly, "to turn against the idea of the robots, god forbid they harm the boys in blue."

Erik Samuelson: "Really...hadn't hurt about that." He sat back in his seat, mulling that little tidbit. "It might work, sad as it may be. Any port in a storm at this point, though."

Adam Harken: "It's an avenue to explore," he nods, "if the rumor is true." he sips his cup, "I'm still worried if I take a line of snow in my own home, I'll find a robot kicking in."

Erik Samuelson: "Hopefully they won't overstep their bounds that much, but who can say." The reason for said possible invasion wasn't touched on, if only out of being polite. "Best of luck on that front."

Adam Harken: "I just hope this whole chapter finds a swift conclusion, they seem not only dangerous but out of control."

Erik Samuelson: "Here's hoping. What I saw in the footage from the riot was bad enough."

Adam Harken: "That riot was the result of two opposing ideals using Sleepers as proxies, it was. . .ill advised." he mutters as he sips his coffee, "But then again, I'm an old man as I've been told."

Erik Samuelson: "Oh?" Cue a curious arch of the eyebrow, both at the info and at the unfamiliar term. "Not my place to comment, I suppose."

Adam Harken: "I just don't see riots as good tools, they cause more backlash to what they wish to promote then aid the cuase, but maybe that's the privileged white boy in me talking." he shrugs, "I'll admit, I don't have the experience to judge too much."

Erik Samuelson: "I've been part of a few marches that went sideways thanks to the cops myself so we can agree to disagree there."

Adam Harken: "Like I said, white boy talking," he shrugs, "Ultimately, not my area of expertise." he admits, "Course it is ultimately the fault of the police, no one is denying that." he makes his stance on that clear at least

Erik Samuelson: "Definitely, yeah. They don't need any easier ways to beat down the populace than they already have, especially with 'enhanced capabilities' as it were."

Adam Harken: "The like to imagine themselves as a military, which just makes it all the more easy for them to escalate what should have been a easy situation, not to mention the perpetration of oppression and enforcement of a race based class system," he sighs, "Sorry, I'm on a soap box now."

Erik Samuelson: "Soapbox away." He made an 'after you' gesture. "I'm right there with you."

Adam Harken: "The intended reason for law enforcement is that, to enforce the law," he begins, "Policing is needed, murder, assault, abuse, all these are things perpetuated by humanity and should have no place in a free society, the problem is that along with enforcing just laws, the institution of peacekeeping also enforces unjust laws created to perpetuate those in power, so the question is how to create a new system focused on the keeping of peace rather than the enforcement of the status system."

Erik Samuelson: "Therein lies the rub, yeah." He nodded quietly. "Starting from scratch is doable but the folks currently in power don't want it to happen and are fine with turning the people working towards it against each other so any progress gets pushed back or worse."

Adam Harken: "It seems that those on thrones like to keep us divided, working class beats itself then they laugh in their glass towers."

Erik Samuelson: "Mmhmm. Always heard that old LJB line from my father on that front; just shows how little has changed on that front over the years."

Adam Harken: "Change is something that people get inch by inch every decade-" he phone rings, "Shit, I need to get going, work stuff." he says, "It was nice meeting you, this has been an intresting conversation."

Erik Samuelson: "No worries, and same." He lifted his coffee cup in salute. "If you're in Old City feel free to drop by Fork; I'm there more often than not."

Adam Harken: "I might take you up on that." he nods, walking into the portal
