Artie
New Scene Another typical day found Artie at his shop behind the counter. Normally when he was out of things to get up to, the tailor took to reading comic books but today he had a thing to do: color sorting his bobbins. Working in the full rainbow of colors, sometimes inventory required him to respool and rearrange many little wheels.
Tommy/Bones
Bones, for it was Bones and not Dr. Tommy Shanks, walked though the door. Today he wore a light blue suit with black undershirt and tie.

The Obrimos looked around the tailor shop and let his magical senses just expand out. No magic, no tingle, no different than the wind blowing. When nothing supernal was noticed, he bobbed his head and looked up at Artie
Artie
As the little bell rang out, Artie perked up setting his colorful work aside. "Hello there! Welcome to my shop. Lemme know if you need help finding anything or if you want to just look around." He offered cheerily.
Tommy/Bones
"Oh, hello! I saw your advertisement at Maddy's WaffleHouse. I thought that I would come and request a few things to be made..." they flowed as they stepped, sometimes seeming to move without walking unless you looked at their feet. Their voice had a very airy feel to it.
Artie
"Oooh. Okay." The proprietor replied knowingly. Man why had he waited so long to put a flyer up at Maddy's? These supes were a needy bunch.

"Alright. What kind of stuff are you looking for? And can I ask which apecial group you belong to? "
Tommy/Bones
After making sure they were alone, he offered, "I am Bones of the Mysterium of the Awakened."

"I was thinking some odd items, mostly jeweler's work, maybe smithing stuff."
Artie
The smith gave a reassuring nod. "Ok sure I can do that as long as it won't require working with gold. I can make pretty much anything else though. Were you wanting to have me use your own supplies or just provide 'em myself?"
Tommy/Bones
"I can provide some of the materials. Others might be easier for you to obtain, and I'll just compensate the difference, yeah?" he flowed through the shop still talking while looking at the 'regular' part of the shop. "I want a necklace of, and don't worry about this, pure lead, in a twisted chain. A mirror made of silver, with the old school silvered glass for the reflecting. I want a copper hand decoration like the Egyptians used to use. Where it has rings for each finger, and then chains along the back of the hand to the wrist. One of those hand chains made of tin for the other hand. Then, I don't know if you can blow glass, but if you do, I had an idea and it is also one of those strange items that would kill the wrong person..." "Oh, and if you happen to do leatherworking, some mundane ideas too.."
Artie
The ship itself was relatively ordinary. Not quite as dreary as a normal high end tailor's store with the wood and dark hues panels and dim lighting. Artie kept things colorful and bright with examples of his work and smiling faces of satisfied customers on the sample books. A whole section housed pins, buttons, and other accessories of a wide variety. A close inspection ahowed they were all very sturdy and exceedingly well made.

Pulling a small notebook, Artie jotted down notes with a quick hand. "... Sure. I can do leather and glass though I do know a local glass blower. He's classically trained if you'd like to aplit the work up a bit? I am also need to grab measurements for the hand chains and ring components. How loose were you thinking you'd like the chains? "
Tommy/Bones
"Oh? You do? THat would be great. Though if you would be able to obtain, say, a quarter of a litre of mercury to go inside of it? Probably easier for you than an archaeologist."
Artie
"A quarter liter? Hmm that's a lot but sure I can make that. And yep. Local glass artist. I've got a copy of his card... " Artie says rifling through a stack for a moment before coming out with Aurelio's card.

"I'd rather share the fun of the project if you don't mind. But the rest should be simple enough." He says with a grin as he also sera a jewler's measuring kit out.
Tommy/Bones
"I have a question, but I don't know if I should ask it. If your history, whatever it might be, could trigger something..." He picked up the card.
Artie
"Of my history? Uhm... What kind of question is it?" He looks a little apprehensive.
Tommy/Bones
"You said you don't do gold. Knowing the kind of folx that I know... Like say SIgrun and June, and you getting caught by a reporter on Sunday on camera, with your spear and the like," he offered, "I don't want to ask a question about that and cause trouble."
Artie
"Oh you know June and Sigrun?! Are you a firefighter with them?" He asks excitedly for a moment before sobering a bit.

"Yes. My long time Away had me constantly crafting with gold so now I just choose not to work with it because it's a choice I get to make." The smith explains plainly.
Tommy/Bones
"Ah. Well...do you know someone who does work with gold?" and then looked down at himself and up at Artie, "No, I'm an archaeologist. A bookworm. I hang out with a lot of Direct Action," a blush rose to their cheeks.
Artie
"Well in that case Sigrun can probably do it. Or I could help her with it. She makes weapons. I'm not sure if she does delicate small items but I can walk her through it. I have plenty of practice..." He alludes sardonically, a tone that sounds odd coming from him.

While they chat, he casually reaches over to place Bones' hand down and begin measuring the spaces and fingers. Artie's hand is exceptionally warm to the touch but he's quick and gentle, his touch like the grazes of a feather. His motions are sure and effortlessly perfect.
Tommy/Bones
Bones happily lets them move their hands around for the measurements, "For the leatherworking, simple black woven bracelets. Steel clasps. Subtle collar tones to it if possible..."
Artie
"Oh that's heckin' easy. Just standard black cow leather? Simple braid. Pfft. I could make that tonight if you wanted to go grab a snack and pop back by." He says this casually without an air of falsehood despite how impressive it sounds.
Tommy/Bones
"Sure. Just something that I can give to ... let's make 5 of them. Maybe a single white strand through it? Something for those that I wish to give a reminder."

"ANd yeah. I can go run for something. What's your favorite fast food or something?"
Artie
"Five woven bracelets ok. Yeah I should be able to do that if I make 'em side by side. And you said with a bit of a collar vibe? White strand... Ok." He seems to mostly be talking to himself for confirmation than Bones.

"Oh uh... Panda Express? Orange chicken is really good. It's surprising they're so consistent with it."
Tommy/Bones
"I'll be bakc with dinner then..." and some magic occurred, hidden beneath veils, and suddenly he was moving super fast and invisibly to get the food.
Artie
In the meantime, with the shop empty, Artie unwatched is a blur of impossible motionas he braids 5 leather bracelets following the specifications.

Within 30 minutes, he's back behind the counter testing the comfort of the bracelets, rounding off the edges.
Tommy/Bones
About at the thirty minute mark, the door opens and closes, and Bones returns to visibility, still moving about 8 times faster than expected himself. The orange chicken is placed infront of Artie, steaming hot still. They themself got some spicy beef of some sort and grinned, "Hi. I'm back. How mcuh do I owe you? ARe you good? I"m goood."
Artie
"Oh uh... Hmm. $10 each? Does that sound alright? And I'm great! That was a neat couple of tricks. Do you have superspeed?" He asks fascinated.
Tommy/Bones
"I can," he took a deep breath and released the spell, "It's more that it's super-time. Accelerate the movement of the subject so they're moving faster through the time line than others. Though I could also do super speed. Easier to do super speed," he thought about it, "But the use of time gives other benefits."
Artie
"Oooh. Wow. That's nifty. Magery sure is all over the place power wise. It's like you guys get to rewrite the story of stuff for a little while. That's crazy. Oh! Do you want me to package these? Gift style?" Artie asks indicating his recent creations each of which sports a small stylized phoenix stamp near the clasp.
Tommy/Bones
"Sure. That'd be great. As for the rest of it? I'd love to have it convey... authority? Expertise?"
Artie
"Hmm. I can try for that, though it tends to lend itself better to elegance and delicacy. The chains are often rather thin but I'll see what I can do for a more authoritative look."
Tommy/Bones
"You're the artist. However you think it would work best. I've recently become more of a public figure, in both the Mundane and Magical worlds, and so ... I thought it might behoove me to look the part."
Artie
"Oh? Like you got a new job? Sounds cool." Artie replies as he returns to his notes, jotting a bit more.
Tommy/Bones
"Yeah. At present, I am... a detective? Looking into problems for the city."
Artie
"that has to be dangerous around here. Especially with robocops. So do you work for the city or do you work for the people against the city?"
Tommy/Bones
"I work for the Awakened against threats like the Robocops. INvestigating the problems, looking for links, deciphering symbols. I'm working with Lux to help decipher some dreams," he smiled, "ANd then in the real world," he adjusted his stance, becoming less fluid, airy, but still a bubbly personality and happy air about them. It was like a different person, Dr. Tommy Shanks, PhD., "In the regular world, I am Tommy Shanks. I was recently published about some new greek ruins, and it's brought a level of Fame that I was not expecting. Even my previous finds are getting more popular."
Artie
Artie's jaw dropped in amazement as Bones explained his work. "Woooow... You're like a real superhero. You even get a secret identity and a cool normal people job. That's so awesome! And hey I'm helping Lux 2ith those dreams too! They'ee gonna take a lookbaround my dreams sometime. I hear that it's a very slippery message."
Tommy/Bones
"I see... I wonder if I'd be able to something similar, or go with them, if you'd like. Or I can take what they find and work on the symbols of it all."

A tilt of their head, "I'm an expert in Archaeology and Semiotics so that's literally why the Mysteryium called me to town. Or rather, they approved my request to be assigned here long term."
Artie
"..." Artie pulls a curious face. "Semiotics? Sorry I didn't get to go to school so I didn't learn some words..." He admits a tad sheepishly.
Tommy/Bones
"You ever see the Da Vinci Code, or the book or the others in the series with RObert Langden?"
Artie
The tailor shakes his head. "No I didn't see it but isnt the one with Tom Hanks doing a scavenger hunt around France? "
Tommy/Bones
"Yes. They call him a symbologist, to help make it easier for someone to understand. However Semiotics is the study of symbols and signs, whether internal or external, through any of the senses, linguistic or not."
Artie
"O... Kay... I think I get it. That sounds kinda hard. How do uh... Perceive internal symbols? How do you smell a symbol?"
Tommy/Bones
"Can a smell bring you back to a place, a meaning, a thought?"
Artie
"I guess so yeah. I have heard that smells are the strongest memory triggers. "
Tommy/Bones
"So if you combine all of those ideas? I study those. It brings me to studying various religions, societies, all sorts of things that I have to study as an archaeologist."
Artie
"Cool. So you're like a scientist of special communication. That's like... Super amazing. Do you cheat with magic sometimes to make sure that you're not just making it up? "
Tommy/Bones
"Rather, I learned certain magics so that I could, when needed, translate languages that people haven't spoken for centuries or millennia. It helps when I'm looking for mystical troubles."
Artie
"Oh. I see... Well I have everything I need to get started on your projects so I don't want to waste any more of your time. So maybe we can be nerds about stuff later? It would be kind of cool to hear about how stuff worked a really long time ago. Especially if we can get a vampire to come by." The Smith beamed, genuinely enthused by the idea
Tommy/Bones
"I'm dating an 800 year old vampire," he said simply.
Artie
"Woah. Does everybody have a vampire partner? Which one's yours?" Artie again looks amazed
Tommy/Bones
"Titania. I also am dating a Mage or two. ANd I'm with two Lost, and maybe more depending on how things go."
Artie
The tailor looks at him suspiciously. "Is this that greater Philadelphia polycule thing I keep hearing about?"
Tommy/Bones
"Huh?"
Artie
"Oh uh. Nevermind," the summer chuckles nervously. He really wasn't the one to try to explain this.
Tommy/Bones
"I know of a few polycules, and I don't think I'm officially part of any of them."
Artie
Artie shrugs. "Iunno. I think there are a few anchor points who keep track of the web but I wouldn't know how it works. Nobody dates me. I just hear stuff." He makes his ears wiggle a bit for emphasis.
Tommy/Bones
"If you keep waving your spear around, I'm sure you'll attract someone interested," he waggles his brows in return, before putting down a huge roll of cash on the counter.
Artie
"Pppffft. I guess we'll see." The tailor says before picking up the wad and blinking. "Wowsers. Are you prepaying? Ok. Do you have a certain date you'd like stuff by? And do I need to deliver it?"
Tommy/Bones
"I can come get it. Otherwise," he gives directions to his home, "Or what not. No certain date, I'm simply happy to get it as it comes. And yes, I'd rather pay now. You have to buy the supplies and what not."
