Bala Cynwyd Elysium

Log

Daniel Hawthorne: While it wasn't his usual Elysium of choice, shaking up one's routine now and again to break a rut before it got too deep was important to Daniel as a Dragon of good standing. Thus the young Haunt had claimed a comfortable corner of the main meeting area with a small tablet in hand, dressed neatly as was his wont with a pair of dark sunglasses rounding out the ensemble.

Floretta Williams: The Keeper of Said Elysium makes her way in, wearing a white shirt with a dark red bowtie, haired tied into a stern bun, a pair of square glasses, trans-color suspenders and dark grey slacks and shined flat shoes. She makes a tour of the various rooms rapidly before freeing her dog from one of the room, guiding a slightly grown Herbert with a leash. "Expecting someone?" She asks when enterting the main area.

Daniel Hawthorne: "Not particularly." Daniel replied, looking up from the tablet with a smile. That broken whisper he'd been stuck with before was gone along with the wound that had caused it, his voice returned to a pleasant tenor wrapped in that old-school Boston Brahmin accent. "Felt like changing things up some from the Bellevue. How are you doing?"

Floretta Williams: The sound of Daniel's voice provoke a certain reaction from Floretta, her expression turns to curiosity and she immediately takes a seat not too far from him. "Okay, what happened with that? Is that the wizard experiment gone right?" Herbert, meanwhile, sniffs around the room curiously, limited by the length of his leash. "Or did you figure something else out?"

Daniel Hawthorne: "The former, in this case." He lifted a hand to remove the sunglasses, revealing that his eyes had gone a solid jet black. "It couldn't be completely 'fixed', part of the curse as it is, but she was able to manipulate how it manifested."

Floretta Williams: "That is some impressive feat." She says, looking into the eyes for a brief moment. "Does that mean your embrace or your sire was technically changed or is the manipulation smaller than that?" As she uses her leg to tug Herbert back from digging under a nearby seat.

Daniel Hawthorne: "Indeed...can't fathom how exactly she did it, but I haven't had any issues with it since." With no visible iris to speak of it was hard to tell where exactly where Daniel was looking, but there was a brief pause when she met his gaze before he shook his head. "Smaller than that, from what I can tell. We initially spoke on going that far back to change things, but after thinking on it I declined; those circumstances are what brought me to the Ordo and the growth that I've experienced since and I didn't want to completely wipe that out."

Floretta Williams: "Yeah that sounds like the kind of thing you'd want to be extra careful around, especially since we don't know how that magic mixes with the curse, though that would've been an interesting thing to know, if not to go through for her." Floretta rolls her shoulders, adjusting the suspender slightly. "I'm glad it worked out in a way that seems better for you. Are you happy with it?"

Daniel Hawthorne: "Very much so, although it did take some getting used to. My sire had a similar manifestation of the curse, so looking that in the mirror was...interesting at first. I far prefer it to the alternative, though."

Floretta Williams: "With a voice like that I can hear why." Floretta teases with a grin. "Does your sire know about the change? Or is that not something that's possible?"

Daniel Hawthorne: "Why thank you." He replied with a chuckle, shaking his head. "He was killed not long after my Embrace as it wasn't sanctioned. I personally avoided that fate thanks to my former regnant's position in the court."

Floretta Williams: "Oh, my apologies about that. Hopefully no current members of the order will commit crimes like these again. It's happened enough to our current members" Floretta pulls her phone from her pocket and takes a note, possibly about this, possibly about something else.

Daniel Hawthorne: "He wasn't of the Ordo himself, nor was it here in Philadelphia, but one can hope that enough of an example was made of the last one who tried here." He nodded, making a mental note of his own to check in on Alex, as it had been some time since he'd spoken with the other Haunt.

Floretta Williams: "Yeah after watching how the Sakima dealt with an attacker, I imagine things getting dealt with is rather impressive on that front." Floretta chuckle. "Had to deep clean the carpets and we can still tell there was a touch of blood in some of them." She chuckles lightly.

Daniel Hawthorne: "I can imagine." He replied with a shake of his head. "How have things been going on your end?"

Floretta Williams: "I've been pushing and investigating a few different things. I'm trying to figure out a way to poke at certain aspect of our existence, but I'm not entirely certain it's within my area of power to reach yet. or if it's even possible." Floretta says "I've been maintaining the Elysium and the work for the order otherwise."

Daniel Hawthorne: "Sounds interesting. Something you're able to discuss, or..." He let the sentence drift off, nodding as she continued. "I've been focusing on my own studies and things at the studio for the most part myself."

Floretta Williams: "I could, yeah, but there's not much to talk about right this instant because well, it's not progressing. Trying to find a way to find a way to protect ourselves from time-line messing up." Floretta points at Daniel "Maybe you could help when I find just... anything on this."

Daniel Hawthorne: "Ah, I see." He offered another nod. "Happy to help where I can."

Floretta Williams: "It might be a long term project, but like, I think we have the time to work on it." Floretta stretches a bit. "Most of the other work we have deal with an aspect of our lives, long-lasting existence is one of them and I wondered if we could tap into that more directly."

Daniel Hawthorne: "It's definitely a thought." He sat back in his seat, a thoughtful look on his face. "Tapping into the personal perception of how time passes for us in comparison to the kine, maybe."

Floretta Williams: "Hmm, perception, perception..." Another note taken onto her phone and smiles a little bit. "Then empowering that perception with blood." she theorize vaguely.

Daniel Hawthorne: "Exactly. I want to think there's a trick for those who can speed up their movements to also enhance their perception, so there's some precedent for the idea."

Floretta Williams: "Watch me just spontaneously reinvent the wheel on Celerity and leave a me-shaped hole in the wall of my own haven." Floretta chuckles, imagining the cartoonish event in her own mind.

Daniel Hawthorne: Daniel couldn't help but chuckle as well, shaking his head with a smirk. "That'd be a sight."

Floretta Williams: "Or I might just pull a jumanji on something and trap myself somewhere for a while, but that's a lot less entertaining I think." Floretta stretches slightly.

Daniel Hawthorne: "Agreed. I know we have all the time in the world these days, but getting stuck like that would not be a good thing."

Floretta Williams: "At least I'd be able to blend in with the herd of Rhinos." Floretta comment "After I manage to beat one of them, mind you. Or maybe I'd just better use my invisibility."

Daniel Hawthorne: "True. Obfuscate is a beautiful thing. Was able to reach mastery in that recently, although I haven't tried it out much yet. Imagine it'll come in handy, though."

Floretta Williams: "Yeah it's been a blessing to have in many ways, grateful my blood carries it." Floretta smiles. "I don't even know what the mastery of it does though."

Daniel Hawthorne: "It lets you mark an area where you can use most of the lower tiers on anyone within that space without having to be there or within arm's reach yourself. You can get pretty wild with it from what I've heard."

Floretta Williams: "That sounds amazing, I need to grab it eventually." She scratches her chin "I might be able to conceal havens and rooms and such with it when needs arise."

Daniel Hawthorne: "Mmhmm, or make them look like whatever you'd like. If you're creative enough you can set up something impressive, for sure."

Floretta Williams: "I wonder if you could make somewhere look like something different for every one in the room, like with the mask thing. Probably, I imagine." Floretta ponders "If you mix it with the nightmare thing your clan has going on, I'm sure there's some good defense mechanism to put in there."

Daniel Hawthorne: "Most likely, yeah. I'll have to play around with it and let you know." He smirked a touch as she continued, offering a small nod. "Probably. That's...not a path I've really looked down yet, I'll admit."

Floretta Williams: "Yeah it's always easier to tap into some specific of your own blood than others, Animalism evaded me for a big while except for the basic stuff." Floretta nods. "I don't know how fun it'd be to tap into fear stuff admittedly."

Daniel Hawthorne: "I've seen it put to good use, but I avoided it for a long while due to the circumstances that I came into the clan under and my focus has been elsewhere since."

Floretta Williams: "Yeah I imagine that doesn't help either." Floretta stretches a bit again, barely stopping her suspender to slide off her shoulder. "I got lucky with how smooth it was, even if there were some questionable aspects."

Daniel Hawthorne: "As rough as it was at the start I've made it my own over time, which is the best anyone can do, really."

Floretta Williams: "I'm going to take my leave soon, gotta go help out with a few things back at the boat. So you'll know where I am if you need me later in the evening."

Daniel Hawthorne: "Sounds good. It was good talking with you, feels like it's been a while." He nodded with a smile, moving to stand as well. "I should probably get back to the studio myself. Those dresses won't make themselves."

Floretta Williams: "Have a good evening! Good luck with the dresses!"
