Log

Diamond is waiting in the hall, a book sitting on her lap and she periodically peek over the edge of the book and then resume her reading, she's wearing a short white and blue dress with blue heels, purse sitting on her lap, a thin smile on her lips, hair loose and flowing down her back. The book is titled Aleph bet. She's waiting for the various people she's attempted to gather to get here if they so pleased.

Rashida is still pretty new to all the Consilium spaces. She isn't quite spacy enough from looking at everything to get lost, however, and makes her way down to where Diamond is seated, occasionally glancing at the various wards that lace the space in a slightly envious way. She is wearing a pair of dark jeans, a nice but plain maroon blouse, and comfortable black sneakers, and she is carrying her ever-present computer bag slung over one shoulder.

Liezel strides in wearing her unsurprising denim and leather vest and boots and button-up blouse, satchel at her side as she pauses to mark Kay before heading her way, patting her satchel briefly to reassure herself her work is still inside.

Diamond stand to greet Rashida, of course we're going with the fancy names in the middle of the consilium halls. She greets her with the offer for a hug. "Hey, how're you today?" she ask, her smile remainig the same if she refused the hug or not. Her gaze is drawn toward Juno to whom she offer a wave to. "Oh my, some Acanthus is watching over us, the timing is perfect!" she jokes.

"That's been going on all day, actually." She hugs Diamond without hesitation, "I walked into the Green Room just as a Sleepwalker friend of Sirius was asking if he tought, and I quote, 'Jedi Preschool.'" Alexis grins, "So of course I had to go with, 'I think I'm a little tall for a preschooler'"

"That's accurate," Liezel points out. "Anakin was too old and he was like... eight." She lifts a hand to greet the hugging pair, smiling faintly at the two. "Perfect timing is usually about when I start getting suspicious, yeah. You two having a good evening?"

"I have a feeling that I know who that is." a little laugh follows. She responds to Juno after. "I know I am. How're you?" Kay asks, standing up from the seat and smile, stretching, she leaves the book ontop of the bench, next to her purse.

"I'm doing pretty good. Slowly getting my feet under myself as far as this whole thing is concerned," Rashida indicates the entire Mage thing with a broad wave of her hand, "I hope you didn't spend too much of your own time working on this for us."

"I definitely did not spend "too much" time making my first piece of real Perfected toolware," Liezel reassures, beaming brightly in the way that only her work really seems to light her up. She pulls out a roll of rough linen and sets it down, unrolling it to reveal a rolled scrap of cotton, around a rolled bit of silk, inside of which is... the gleaming mirror-red amalgam pen, carrying both the intense reflectiveness of Hermium and the rich scarlet hues of Brontium. It's... well.

Perfect.

"Go on. It's yours." Beat. "Also I saved the box, so you can just... put it in the box later. The cloth was just to be dramatic."

"It'll serve you well once you put it to work." There's a brilliant smile on Kayla now, she watches the pen and the way Alexis react to seeing it for the first time. "I'm loving the colors and the shine and the feeling of it." she looks to Juno. "Thank you for making for Rashida, I'm grateful you did."

"Shiiiiiinnnnnyyyyyyyy," Rashida says in the 'stock hypnotized voice' before returning to her more usual tones, "I appreciate the effort even so. Thank you very much for your work and artistry. I have...ideas as to future projects, although I think I want to get deeper into my own understanding before I start proposing design elements. And also refresh my mundane computer engineering knowledge."

"Computer knowledge?" Liezel sounds distinctly puzzled. "I don't think you need to be an engineer to learn to Perfect things- just patient." Because of course she doesn't know about the plan for the Perfect Computer. "You're both welcome. It was a delight to create, and seeing you two appreciate the work is- delightful all its own!"

She smiles at the situation and tap on Alexis' shoulder once. "I think the pen is yours." referring to the fact that she didn't pick up the pen yet with a little, amused smile. "She got big plans for the future and I couldn't be happier for it."

Rashida reaches down to actually pick up the pen for the first time and makes a soft, "oh" sound as her fingers first make contact. She spends a few moments just running her fingertips across the pen, her vision looking past the surface of the material and into its Supernal resonance as it brushes against her own, "Oh, wow, it actually shows up. That's incredible. And...wow. Just wow. No wonder you love working with this." She pulls out her other pen, the original brass one, and holds one in each hand, "Its gonna take some work to get it in tune with me, but I can't wait until I can make full and proper use of it."

"Yeah, you'll need some work to get it to Dedicate, but just using it for your Path should be of significant benefit, and that's before you start using it for the specific casting categories that Hermium and Brontium lend themselves to. Also, keeping it onhand wards of deleterious effects- you're about twice as resilient to such things as an average person when you have that on hand."

"A simple curiosity here, what kind of material lend itself to death magic in particular?" She asks, curious and smiling there. "Or to the Stygian path, I mean." she looks at Alexis and smile "We'll try to help her remember to do the dedication work."

"That's actually one reason we chose the metals we did. Its just...my level of understanding doesn't permit me to use many tools at once in my casting yet, so the more I can get out of each Yantra I make use of when producing the Imago the better." Alexis elaborates. "I mean, I assume its lead. And possibly one other? Almost all the paths resonate with more than one material, I think."

"Apeiron would be the most classically associated, but Siderite and Kassiterum align with Stygia as well," Liezel explains. "Lead, Tin, Iron. No surprises there, I shouldn't think."

"Thank you for the information, I was just curious for the moment." She looks around at the surrounding. "Iron feels like it should be more Pandemonium based honestly, but I know next to nothing about any of this." Kay shrugs and smile. "Yes, even the further you advance, there are choices to make. It's better to plan your spells and situation in advance." she nod "There's a reason I leave my yewbowl at home and any public cast is done with my glowstick braid."

Rashida sighs, "Yeah. Practice, Practice, Practice." She sounds a little like a put-upon teenager, but softens it with a smile. "At least the semester is essentially over so I have plenty of time to work now."

"Good! I'm in a funny state- while I could use any of the Perfected metals as proper Obrimos tools, only Orichalcum is Aether-associated," murmurs Liezel. "So getting my own tools is going to be... expensive." She shrugs and sighs. "C'est la vie." The Obrimos pauses, then looks between the mages. "I meant to offer. I can scribe Grimoires on a permanent basis. It's an excellent way for your Rotes to be successful. I'd like to put together as comprehensive a grimoire as I can- I don't suppose either of you has that knack as well, do you?"

"let me know if you want to try out some spell that need a live target, I'm always happy to experience new things and give you feedback for how some spell feel, if you're curious about it." She looks over to Juno. "I don't possess the rote to scribe grimoire but I am an apprentice in Prime, I can do it as well."

"I don't have any grasp of anything but the most fundimental aspects of Prime as of yet, although I am interested in learning more." Rashida adds.

"Actually, that would be enough. If you can hold the grimoires intact long enough for me to copy their contents, I'd have copies I could share permanently later, whether with your cadre or- well, whoever you were comfortable sharing them with."

"I still need to learn the rotes I have in mine." She tap her cheek. "they're very high end rotes from the death Arcana." Kay considers for a moment. "I wouldn't mind exchanging grimoires and rotes." she smiles. "I just need to convene with the group to see if there's any issue or interest they'd have, I'm not particularly worried."

"I'm all for anything that gives me more things to learn." Alexis smiles, "But then again, I think I'm contractually obligated to say that, aren't I?"

"Maybe." Liezel offers Alexis. "And if you would get with them, do let me know? I can help provide you all with hard copies of your own rotes, too, that you can share with each other as needed."

Kay laughs a little bit. "I don't think we signed any contract." She looks to Alexis and smile her way there and then back to Juno again. "Do you have the rote or some specific abilities that allows you to do it easier than with the spell?" the question appears to be out of curiosity

"The rote. It normally takes a Disciple of Prime to create a permanent Grimoire without any danger of Paradox. I prefer not to risk tainting my Essence with it, so having it as a Rote is immensely helpful."

"If I recall all you have to do is expend one reach and one potentia to make it last forever? If you're really impatient you can cast the rote as instant too, which, I can do without a rote at an apprentice level? Or am I missing some kind of maths here?" she focuses for a bit, trying to figure out the maths or where she'd be wrong.

"No, you're correct, I misspoke- apologies," Liezel mumbles. Just like that, the air in her sails from her work is gone. "Anyway. Talk it over. Let me know."

"It's still practical to have it, I mean i'd have a hard time transcribing my own grimoires." she smiles. "If it's all the same though, I would like to head back home and have a bit of time to ...read." she points to her book

"Thank you again for the new tool, Liezel. I already love it." Alexis adds wiht a grin, her thumb still rubbing back and forth against the mirror-polished scarlet metal.

"No, please, do. I'll see you another time. You're welcome, Rashida. It's a pleasure." Liezel smiles a touch, then turns and heads back into the night.
