Soulwardens' Sanctum

Log

Kayla Sockum: Kayla stayed at the Sanctum today to help Alexis with her personal project, unlocking a part of the sanctum usually reserved for storage, but without anything stored in it as they don't seem particularly store a whole lot of things. She's wearing her hair in a bun, with a bandana over them, a loose white t-shirt and some torn jeans. "So, I know you told me what it was, but can you tell me what you plan to do with that electronics workshop is exactly?"

Alexis Bartram: "Well, most of what I've gotten is stuff that will let me build or customize electronic devices. I've got a soldiering setup, an osciliscope - admittedly a bit of a cheap one - and a whole bunch of tools for working on tiny stuff." Alexis explains while pulling in a handtruck with a couple boxes on it. "So I want to use it to build some useful tools, and also possibly use it to make some enhanced and perfected equipment in the future, although admittedly I'd be relying on Liezel or someone else for a lot of the materials work for those projects." She's wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that has 'There's No Place Like 127.0.0.1' on the front.

Kayla Sockum: Kayla smiles there for a moment, grabbing a broom and quickly doing a sweep of the largely empty room while whistling along. "I know Hearth made a Perfected Pie with my help so possibly we could help as well, but we're definitely not expert on the whole perfecting process yet." She uses a dustpan and trashes the dust she gathered. "Some matter magic always help when you're working with tools, if I can help along, let me know."

Alexis Bartram: "Yeah, I wish it would be easier for me to learn some of it, but..." Alexis shrugs, "Better to accept what I am than wish otherwise. I would like to learn how to work some Forces magics, since I think those will be handy for working with computers and such." She grins at Kay as she manuvers the boxes into the corner so they'll be out of the way for the moment"Oh! I also ordered a 3d Printer, but the model I wanted is gonna take a little bit to ship. Got it for a good price though." She goes to grab a boxcutter out of the toolbox sitting nearby, "The main thing that's gonna need two sets of hands is getting the work tables assembled." Alexis waves at the larger boxes leaning against one wall.

Kayla Sockum: "And then we'll have two interdicts in the house telling me I can't cook and can't help with furniture assembly!" Kayla says with a touch of humor and she starts helping with the box opening, using her keys to open the box instead of a box cutter, setting them aside where they were after that, just to speed up the process later.

Alexis Bartram: Alexis starts opening the other boxes, using the box cutter to cut apart the plastic ties holding together the stacks of metal components that form the structure of the work tables she picked out. "It shouldn't be that difficult. Did you ever put together a Lego set? Same idea, just heavier." She snickers, "I'd accuse Lego of just being a training tool for IKEA assembly, but they're entirely unrelated companies...at least, as far as we know."

Kayla Sockum: "There you go, Alexis, uncovering your first Seers of the Throne conspiracy." Kayla grins as she moves toward the bigger boxes and then back into the room, considering possible placement. "And I didn't get the chance to do Legos when I was a kid and when I was a teen, that's not really what was on my mind, so I didn't get that fun experience." she looks over her shoulder. "Which I should definitely get at some point." she points toward the back of the room. "Do you have a particular set up in mind already?"

Alexis Bartram: "Tables go there and there," She points at two adjacent walls, "After we mount the pegboard that is in...one of these boxes." She opens another one, which happens to be the one she's looking for, "AHA! Mount these pegboards to the wall. I marked out the studs already, so we just need to hold them in place and screw em." She chuckles with a naugty grin for a moment, then shakes it off, "Then the plug-in tools go on the tool cart," she waves at a different set of boxes against the third wall, "And we get to play orginize the bits with all the components I picked up." Which are currently in bags sitting on top of the large plastic 'piece storage' containers.

Jeremiah Hamilton: As the two women talked the sound of whistling echoed down the hallway, followed shortly by quiet footsteps that soon revealed Jeremiah's passage. He initially walked past the room at first, expecting it to be empty as per usual, but after a few steps he paused and backed up - and even repeated those few bars he had whistled in reverse, for good measure - before looking inside with a smirk. "Hey. You guys need a hand?"

Kayla Sockum: "Oh I see what you're doing there, don't worry." Kayla grins a little bit and wiggle her fingers "I should probably be the one to hold them and you to put the screw in." A wise nod, then looks at Jay with a grin. "Please do lend a hand, we're about to screw studs or something to that effect."

Alexis Bartram: Alexis grabs the power screwdriver and gives it the requisite double rev, "Its important to make sure you screw them thoroughly and to get them properly seated in there."

Jeremiah Hamilton: There was a brief look on Jeremiah's face that showed the number of comments he wanted to make in that moment, but he ultimately decided to be good and chuckled as he entered the room. "Very true indeed...don't want anything coming loose."

Kayla Sockum: Kayla grins a little bit and she helps with holding up what needs to be held up as firmly as she can manage. "We do want everything to fit tightly." she seems to regret making the joke as soon as she makes it. "Let's just get on with it and not mention I said that."

Alexis Bartram: Once she recovers from her laughing fit Alexis drags over the folding stepstool so she can reach top of the pegboard, "Ok, it needs to be a quarter-inch higher and like, half an inch to the left." Once they shift it over so its lined up with the marked spots Alexis starts driving screws through the mounting points, "This should go pretty easy with three of us working on it."

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah let out a little huff of laughter at Kay's comment, moving up to help support the pegboard as needed. "I'll admit, I haven't seen this much Ikea since my last apartment in Los Angeles. What's the plan for in here?"

Kayla Sockum: "Electronics Workshop for Alexis." She looks at the few boxes of Storage. "And honestly, we don't use that much storage space, so I figured this was the ideal spot." she points at the few boxes left in the corner. She holds the next pegboard as best she can while responding.

Alexis Bartram: "Its gonna be a workshop. Electronic repairs and custom builds, pretty much. Possibly enchanted stuff, later." Alexis explains as they get the second section of pegboard situated, "Probably gonna wind up with most of a small makerspace in here, just so we have the tools to put together anything we might need."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Nice..." He nodded, moving along with the wall as needed to get the next piece of pegboard installed. "That'll be handy."

Kayla Sockum: "Yeah and I might be able to help out with things eventually." She chuckles a little bit and then look to Jay "How are you doing" She pokes him in the leg with her foot.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I'll leave the Matter magic to you." He smirked, giving Kay a light nudge back. "Doing pretty well, actually. You?"

Kayla Sockum: A short pause and a completely terrible poker face clearly indicate she's doing very well as a bright, dopey smile breaks out. "So good." she admits with a little nod.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Glad to hear it." He replied with a proper smile. "Things with you and Mary are going smoothly, I take it?"

Kayla Sockum: "Yep." A look to Alexis and grin "Yeah me and Mary, dunno if we were subtle enough." she chuckles, then back to Jay. "I'm nervous about other stuff, but I'll be good."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Oh?" Cue eyebrow arch. "Like what? Anything we can help with?"

Kayla Sockum: "I'm still working on the legal stuff for Mei and Aaron." A shrug. "Also I'm ... reading a lot of stuff on Judaism lately, from Aaron."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah. How's that going, on both fronts?"

Kayla Sockum: "The Legal stuff is going and I'm not sure how much I can legally say on that front." A uneasy smile. "And the other is going okay, I read an introductory book on Hebrew."

Alexis Bartram: "Its an interesting language. I haven't had the time to study it yet - I've mostly been focusing on learning the UN's working languages, to be honest." Alexis comments, "I'm glad the stuff with Mei and Aaron is going well. Let me know if you need my help with anything, ok? I probably shouldn't get directly involved, since I technically hired Mei for an investigation, but let me know if there's something behind-the-scenes I can do."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Cool. I've been a recovering Catholic for a while, admittedly, so looking into another religion hasn't been high on the list. Some of what he mentioned during that conversation with River during the welcoming feast was interesting, though." He smirked a touch, a brief flicker in his gaze the only hint of the irritation that lingered from said conversation. "Happy to help where I can as well, though."

Kayla Sockum: "We might need some people to testify, so that might be helpful, but I'm not certain yet." She comments and then move to the next step of assembling the room, helping along. "As for the rest, so far I'm basically just discovering some pieces of who my parents were, for now."

Alexis Bartram: "Its a good thing to know. I hope you like what you learn." Alexis looks up from cranking down one of the bolts in the metal frame of a table, "From everything I've heard Aaron is good people, so I think he'll be a good teacher for that."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Here here." Jeremiah nodded, sneaking in a quick shoulder squeeze for Kay along with a smile before rejoining the assembly work. "Haven't had a chance to talk with him much, but he seems solid, yeah."

Kayla Sockum: "What do you need me to do now, Alexis?" She approaches the table she's working on, passing whatever tool she was reaching for next and then stepping out of her way with practiced easy.

Alexis Bartram: "I need you to tell me all the juicy details about you and Mary. And also to hand me another of those bolts." Alexis points at the pile of bolts as she shifts to the next leg and wiggles it into position.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah handled the bolt pass-down, smirking as he looked towards Kay. "Yes...do tell."

Kayla Sockum: Kayla chuckles lightly there and holds the leg in position for the bolt to be screwed in. "We've been taking things a little slow." she asks "if only because it's fun to let everything settle in before taking the next step." She clear her throat. "I've been showing her pictures of myself when I was a little younger too, I think she liked that very much."

Alexis Bartram: Alexis sighs wistfully, "I miss relationships." She slides out from under the table frame, "Ok, its ready for the top." Which, in this case, is a heavy slab of solid wood that just slips into the frame without having to be bolted in, "I should make more time to try and fine someone. Or someones."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Been a bit since my last longterm one, I'll admit." He moved to help get the wooden top in place, the usual jovial air about him fading for a brief moment before setting back into place like it had never gone. "Met a few folks since I moved here but nothing's really stuck. Not complaining too much, though."

Kayla Sockum: "Well, I know someone's interested, but I don't know about your interests." A poke to Jay's leg with her food again, offering a warm, understanding smile, then her attention goes to Alexis, just as she adjust the wooded part along with them. "That sounds like a worthwhile project to work on, anyone in mind?"

Alexis Bartram: "I mean, the most recent individuals of interest got really fukkin awkward a few weeks ago, so that's sorta out of the question." Alexis gives them both a fond smile before going back to working with the second table, "I can deal. Things will happen as they happen."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah...gotcha. Best of luck." He replied to Alexis with a smirk, chuckling at the judge from Kay. "If you're talking about Quinn that remains to be seen. He is absolutely adorable, though, I will say that."

Kayla Sockum: "Oh? Awkward? Do we need to set up wards and send Mary with a baseball bat?" Kayla asks with a little bit of a smirk as she grabs the table and help out with it this time.

Alexis Bartram: "...ok, I thought that was obvious but apparently I was wrong." Alexis arches one eyebrow in Jay's direction, "You DID tell them about how I embarrased myself the first time I met you, right?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah paused with a curious look on his face, chuckling as the lightbulb went off. "I didn't, actually."

Kayla Sockum: "No he didn't..." Kayla grins at the situation and pokes at them both at the same time, a mischievous gleam and grin about her there. "Come on, spill!"

Alexis Bartram: "I said, quote,'there are people I wouldn't mind being a snack for,' unquote. In the context of people fetishizing vampires." Alexis sighs, hiding underneath the table frame as she works on it.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "And I'd said your secret was safe with me, and I meant it." Jeremiah smiled softly, looking rather amused.

Kayla Sockum: Kayla laughs out loud there and rest against a table "You know, I got told the same thing when I mentioned learning those are real recently." She nods "So I think maybe we got a Night out plan with Mary soon." She turn to Jay "She told me she met one recently too."

Alexis Bartram: "Indeed you did. And thank you." Alexis looks back out, "I'm still not interested in being a corpse-snack. Jay is still hot as hell though. All of you are. Which is unbelievably awkward." She hides again.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Well thank you." Jeremiah chuckled, peeking under the desk at her. "You're no slouch yourself, you know..."

Kayla Sockum: Kayla pokes Jay with the tip of her foot and then moves around to check what's inside of one of the other boxes. "I am flattered that you think so, Alexis."

Alexis Bartram: "I think this is all set up under here. Now we just need to get everything sorted and stored away and this should be ready to go." Alexis slides back out from underneath and brushes herself off. "At which point I think I would like another Space lesson, unless you have something else you need to do, Jay?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: Alexis earned a "nice dodge" look as she came out from under the desk, followed by a nod and a small smile. "I'm free tonight, so I'm good for it."

Kayla Sockum: "Hmm, I need to catch Mary for Life soon too." She nods. "Mushroom in the Hallow are definitely helping." She smirks and looks toward Alexis and gives her a very warm smile, before handing over two boxes. "Those appear to be tools and stuff that needs getting plugged."

Alexis Bartram: "Thank you," Alexis starts orginizing them on the work tables so they easily reach the plugs, "I can't wait until I feel a little less vulnerable. I don't suppose there's been any news about whoever it was that tried to blender my brain?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Nothing new yet. Still looking into it though."

Kayla Sockum: "I don't think there's been another encounter with that resonance yet." A little nod there. "DIdn't you say it was from someone inside of your awakening?" she asks Alexis ."

Jeremiah Hamilton: (Being nabbed by the bf for a spell. Shall chime back in if you're still going)

Alexis Bartram: "So they claimed. Or at least, it was someone who was saying that my awakening was their fuckup. Presumably nuking my mind from orbit was their first attempt at preventing it and trying to talk me into signing up to be a slave to the throne was the last ditch effort." Alexis sounds exceptionally irritated about the entire business.

Kayla Sockum: "We managed to stop one of the assault to be honest." She explain and shrugs. "We didn't manage to stop the 2nd one." a soft sigh "But you pulled through."

Alexis Bartram: "It was a bit of touch and go there for a while. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't awakened you would have just had a corpse instead of a sleeper." Alexis grimaces, "0/10, would not reccomend dying while awakening to a friend."

Kayla Sockum: "As someone who went to Stygia I would tend to agree." Kayla moves about, helping around with the next step of putting the room together. "And a failed awakening, in my case, made me into a Sleepwalker."

Alexis Bartram: "I wish I could get a look at the other Supernal Realms." Alexis sighs wistfully, "All of them sound so interesting."

Kayla Sockum: "That would be fanstastic, wouldn't it? I saw Stygia twice myself, there really wasn't going to be another path for me it seems." She explains "Even now, when I look at other Arcana, it's not clear what else would've fit me."

Alexis Bartram: "Now the really strange one in that regard is Mei. I mean, she was a psychic - a telepath and a psychometrist. Which...like...Mind and Time. And yet, she goes all Obrimos. An interesting insight into how much what the Watchtowers speak to us is far more symbolic and resonant with our character rather than our capabilities."

Kayla Sockum: "Yeah and I'm not really your typical Moros either, most of those I met or heard about were super gloomy and shadow stuff." Kayla explains "I prefer to live life with a bright smile and be ready when things go there."

Alexis Bartram: "I wonder how much of that is nature and how much of it is them leaning into what they chose for a shadow name. I mean, Hearth isn't exactly sterotypical either, but neither of you has a name like...Charon or something."

Kayla Sockum: "You should've seen the face one people when I chose Diamond as a Shadowname." She nods "And yeah, that does make sense when you think about the mythos around Shadownames, especially with how much we invest into them."

Alexis Bartram: "It certainly is thought provoking. I do wonder what the next mystery to come along is going to be. Have you noticed anything unusual going on lately?"

Kayla Sockum: "The rat host things seems to be a thing going on for everybody, I looked into it briefly and forwarded my findings, what little there was, to the body of people involved in it." Kay nods. "I'm not certain what any of it is exactly to be honest, but it felt like a way to help for a moment."

Alexis Bartram: "It looks like that's moved to the point where its more of a question of mystic and military might than research, given what was posted by Dandelion. I'm certainly not going to be fighitng any of them any time soon if I can avoid it."

Kayla Sockum: "My magic is at a point where I'm pretty sure I could rot a swarm of rat without much of a problem, even if I don't have the rote for it, at least I imagine." She looks around a bit curiously there.

Alexis Bartram: "I don't have any directly offensive applications at all yet, so..." Alexis shrugs and continues sorting parts into different tiny drawers on the storage bins. "I'm trying to keep my eyes open for the next problem to pop up."

Kayla Sockum: "I suspect you don't have much actual fighting experience either?" She asks, curious, rolling her shoulders for a moment and Kay continues passing her more stuff to sort.

Alexis Bartram: "Not having much would imply that I have any at all." Alexis rolls her eyes a little, "I am a literal 90 lb weakling of a nerd. Physical confrontations were never going to be a thing on the menu."

Kayla Sockum: "Might be a good idea to at least get up a defense, just in case." Kay nods. "I mean, I'm legitimately terrible at this thing and I have a bow and some arrows I keep around just in case it's necessary for me to help out in a fight."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "And personally, if I end up in a fight something's gone terribly wrong." Jeremiah chimed in with a smirk. "There are ways to compensate for that in a pinch, though."

Alexis Bartram: "I mean, I have a thing of pepperspray. And I know how to use Mind to go unnoticed, along with Mage Armor. But even so."

Kayla Sockum: "One that's helpful to remember is that if you can find someone who's hiding, there's a chance you might be found too." Kayla comments and she keeps passing the things to eb sortign about.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Once you hit Disciple on Mind you'll be able to basically download a lifetime of boxing lessons into your head, for example. That's how I usually handle things in a pinch. Even beyond that, it's a thing of thinking outside of the box, which as a Mastigos we're pretty well built for."

Alexis Bartram: "Boxing lessons don't do a ton of good without the muscles to go with them. I suspect I'd be far better off running away than trying to fight even so. I'll gladly leave the fighting to those better suited for it." Alexis comments, continuing to shuffle things away into the appropriate spots.

Kayla Sockum: "Oh that's for sure, but there's a lot of things low level spells might be able to do it." She points around her right now. "I could make a right mess of a fight happening in this room, for example, using just initiate spells."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmhmm. There's a few effects I can think of off-hand that make getting out of Dodge easier, too." He allowed himself a small smirk. "Which, I'll admit, is usually what I do too."

Alexis Bartram: "Let the experts handle the cases where physical confrontation is the appropriate thing to do." Alexis smirks back, "After all, its what they train for."

Kayla Sockum: "Yeah I would prefer to hide behind Mary." A playful grin, she sits down on the floor and grabs a few things that fell on thre and hand them over to Alexis. "But I'd rather make sure she stays safe."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Exactly. It's that whole 'with our powers combined' thing in general; between the lot of us we can improve the chances of the people on the front lines while they keep our collective asses out of the fryer."

Alexis Bartram: "Plus, a lot of the time its going to be easier just to avert the conflict in the first place." Alexis scowls, "I still think there was more to that entire business with the protest than just Aaron and Mei awakening, to be honest."

Kayla Sockum: "Maybe? Did you discuss the possibilities with them?" She asks curiously, moving back up, dusting her bum and moving to look for other boxes that might need emptying.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It's possible. We'd need to talk with someone with a better grasp of Time than any of us have to look back at it 'live' to confirm it, though."

Alexis Bartram: "I could just be being paranoid. And we still don't know what caused the tree to fruit like it did."

Kayla Sockum: "We or I figure that given you and the two others were linked to the tree is a result of something the assembly and consilium have been trying to do since the tree's appearances.." She grins brightly.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "No one can say what exactly will spark an Awakening, but the fact that the tree predicted all three of them, even yours a few days out, is something big." He nodded quietly. "Still think that looking at what happened at the Mall isn't a bad idea, though, even if it comes up clean."

Alexis Bartram: "I mean, if someone was trying to stop me from awakening and got caught up in it...could what happened on the Mall have been the same thing, just more subtle? The very first person that was hurt was Aaron's friend, right? Maybe they wanted to get him involved in the violence and die before he could awaken?"

Kayla Sockum: "It could be the case, it's worth giving it a look honestly whenever we can get around to examining those particular events with time magic or otherwise." she considers slowly, considering.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Maybe..." He nodded to Alexis, letting that thought percolate. "Can ask around to see who can open the window, as it were."

Alexis Bartram: "Maybe Maddie? I know she tends more towards Space, but I think she's reasonably skilled with Time as well." Alexis suggests

Kayla Sockum: "Oh that would be a thing we could mention to her next time we meet with her" She smiles brightly, then start looking into one of the boxes.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Definitely. Think she'd be up for it."

Kayla Sockum: "Yeah plus we do have some kind of good rapport with Mary trying to teach her life alongside me." She grins and chuckles.

Alexis Bartram: "Someone is gonna wind up with a cowlick again."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not me, thanks." He replied with a grin, shaking his head. "I need to talk with her anyway about getting some tea in for the cafe, so could hit two birds with that if you guys don't run into her before I do."

Kayla Sockum: "That was a perfect moment, it's when I knew." she says with just enough of a laugh that it might not be serious, maybe.

Alexis Bartram: "I should go to Maddie's myself anyway, I haven't had a chance to get out there."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Was just about to ask if you'd been yet. Should definitely fix that; she does amazing stuff."

Kayla Sockum: "Yep! Maintaining an establishment like that is amazing on it's own too." she smiles "Is there more stuff you need to do in this room?"

Alexis Bartram: "I think we're just about finished. Looks like everything is ready, and I can install the 3d printer by myself when it comes in." There is a space left open at one end of the sturdy work tables for the device, "So the only thing left is to break down the cardboard for recycling or whatever else we want to use it for."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ooh, a 3D printer? Nice..." He nodded with a grin, looking over the space. "I don't need the cardboard for anything on my end at the moment, so recycling works.

Kayla Sockum: "I'll take care of the cardboard, I'll stuff it in recycling and maybe use a box or two for something." Kay says with a little nod. "Hmm, maybe the printer might inspire me to do some more matter studying!"

Alexis Bartram: "Sounds good. Yeah, I got a decent deal on a 300x300x400mm printer that's supposed to be reasonably nice." Alexis brushes off her hands, "Soo....space lesson next? Or are there cookies we can raid on the way?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "How about we combine the two and you check the house for cookies to see if there's any in there?" Jeremiah grinned, making an 'after you' motion towards the door.

Best use of Locate Object ever.

Kayla Sockum: Kayla roll her eyes, clearly amused at the use of it. "Maybe don't comment on where some of those cookies are stashed if you do that." She chuckles "I know for a fact we all have one."

Alexis Bartram: Alexis scoops out her pen and starts using it to describe a spherical volume in midair that she then uses her fingertips to manipulate as she murmurs in High Speech.

"Oww. Dedicating a new magical tool hurts. But the cookies are thataway." Alexis sets off in search of cookies and hopefully rolling fewer paradox dice.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "You assume that I keep mine here." Jeremiah chuckled, giving Kay a sly wink before turning his attention to Alexis as she started casting. He nodded as the familiar wordless whisper wafted past his ear and the spell wove into place, although the note of pain from Alexis brought a small frown. "Yeah, that is annoying until it syncs up. You good?"

Alexis Bartram: "Its good, I've just got a bit of a headache and nosebleed." She snags a tissue on the way out to wipe away the aformentioned drip, "It was risk some contained paradox or spend 3 hours casting a spell that will probably last three to six seconds."

Kayla Sockum: "Yeah at the start, it's really hard to ignore the reach you need for that." She say, stretching out. "I'm going to go take a nap for a bit."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Fair enough. I try to avoid it when I can in general, but also because containing it tends to bring back some old war wounds, as it were." He nodded, reaching over to give Kay a quick hug. "Enjoy your nap, will catch you later.
