Maddy's Wafflehouse

Log

Floretta moves into the restaurant again, this time she's wearing a loose hoodie and a pair of black sweatpants, she looks tired or at least, not made up, her hair is a little messy like she just woke up and she slide into a booth, picking a menu and staring at it with interest, whistling a tune slowly as she reviews the items.

Eyrgjafa strolls in a few moments later, dressed in a casual pair of jeans and dark red teeshirt. Sensing Floretta's beast, she approaches the other Dragon, waving at her en route. "Mind if I join you?"

Floretta smiles lightly, nodding and lowers her chin to the table. "Come in." She is still focused on the menu there. "So you got curious about this place too, huh?"

"I've visited a time or two. It's a good place to people watch." Eyrgjafa smiles slightly, taking the opposite side of the booth. "And talk with members of other communities." Beat. "How've you been, Floretta?"

"I'm not sure to be honest, I've been trying to keep my mind a little occupied and right now I'm not dealing super well with a few things." She scratch the back of her head. "And it's just a weird kind of space my head is in."

"Oh? Do you want to talk about them?"

"One moment, I'm ordering something because I need to be feeling something fun." She gives her order to whoever she needs to give her order to, just an order of toast with nutella or something equally basic as that. "are you okay? I mean it's not like I'm looking to dump things on you if you,'re not in a place for it."

"I'm fine. I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't willing to hear it." Eyrgjafa shrugs one shoulder lazily. "If it does get too much, I can always say so."

Floretta receives her order and immediately destroys one of the toasts. "I'm dealing with feelings for someone, I'm starting to invest into that whole rat thing." a pause. "I feel like I'm putting my own research on hold for a lot of stuff and like I'm forgetting myself in big ways lately. And the fact I feel like that bothers me".

Eyrgjafa considers the other woman for a moment. She's not Blushed, so there's none of the little unconscious movements humans make. Just steady attention. "Are the feelings for someone I know?"

Floretta takes a bit of a deep breath and nods to the question. "Yeah." she devours the second toast and focuses on the task closely until it's all gone before return her attention on the kindred before her "They are."

"Okay. Do you mind if I ask who?"

"I do, but at this point it's kind of ridiculous if I don't say anyway." A shrug and she takes a short breath and points toward Eyrgjafa directly. "It's you." she roll her eyes, almost regretting saying it right away.

Eyrgjafa blinks at that, clearly not having expected that answer. "Me?" She sounds rather confused.

"It's very complicated." She groans a little bit, there's several times she seems to speak up and then refrains from saying anything from that particular outburst.

It appears that Floretta is speaking the truth, she finds the feelings complicated and she's currently trying really hard not to ramble on in a massive fashion about why. But it looks like the why could be a little embarassing too.

Eyrgjafa hesitates, then reaches across the table, taking one of Floretta's hands and squeezing it reassuringly. "Why don't you explain it to me, then?"

"I struggle with my humanity, I struggle with how..." a beat "Everything is annoying and grating all of the time." she squeezes back softly. "So, after getting to know you more as a work partner, I realized the way you and Tahmina acts is ... easier to just inspired myself from." she stares at Eyrgjafa's hand in hers. "A lot of recent decision's been mostly What would Eyrgjafa do." she sigh. "And that was it, you know? For a while at least. Herbert, how to approach feeding, which specialty to focus on and a ton of other little things."

"Oh, Floretta. Why didn't you say something?" Eyrgjafa's voice is gentle.

"Because I ..." She exhale loudly, looking at the table in front of her "Because I only realized what was happening for the worst reasons." she laughs a little bit at herself there. "I got really jealous of Rhea one evening at one of the Elysia." she makes a gesture of denial. "And when I got to talk to her more, I realize It didn't... have any bad feelings toward her just... that." she sigh "And I was embarassed, still am."

Eyrgjafa arches one eyebrow slightly. "You do realise Rhea's my sister, right? The connection she and I share is one of the most precious things I have, but it is familial love, not the dating kind."

"I know! Part of why I'm really embarassed by it and why I suspect there might be a bit of...my inner struggle tainting how I felt then." Floretta stares downward at herself, realizing that maybe this wasn't the kind of wardrobe she ought to be wearing out in public. "Sorry."

"Okay." Eyrgjafa takes a deep - and largely unnecessary - breath. "I suppose we can give the dating thing a try, if you really are interested, though I should warn you that I've not done it since...-" she pauses, then, thinking for a moment "-long before you were born, at any rate."

That was not the response she was expecting from Eyrgjafa. "Oh." Oh several blinks later and maybe a slight attempt at hiding a tear forming in the corner of her eyes. Then her gaze falls to their hands. Oh There is a faint, amused smile for a brief moment and she finally manages to look at Eyrgjafa. "I really am interested and It's not like I'm an expert either so maybe." A beat "... starting with something simple is a good idea? Maybe going to the movies?"

"We could do that, yes." Eyrgjafa considers the other woman for a moment. "Do you know which ones have come out recently? I do not pay much attention to such things, save for when Mina is chattering about them."

"I keep an eye on horror movies mostly, because I tend to be that kind nerd. There's this movie called The Wretched that came out not too long ago that I heard about but..." Floretta clear her throat. "I don't know if a horrow movie is your kind of entertainment?"

Eyrgajfa shrugs slightly. "I do not think I have seen any since the ones starring... what was that Hungarian fellow's name? Bela something?"

"Bela Lugosi! Our very own count dracula!" Floretta exclaims and for a moment, slides off of the booth and does just a little dance and sings something. *"White on white translucent black capes Back on the rack Bela Lugosi's dead The bats have left the bell tower The victims have been bled..." she goes on, the song is a little flat toned but she quicky grows a little too shy to continue and then sit back down. "I like horror movies."

Eyrgjafa blinks at her. "Is that a reference to something?"

"Bela Lugosi is the Hungarian fellow you're referring to and his most famous role was Dracula." She clear her throat. "It's a song that uses Bela Lugosi's name and the fact that he was pretty involved with the role of Dracula he played in the movies."

"Ah, I see." Eyrgjafa considers Floretta for a moment. "You've got my number, right? We can work out a time that suits for the both of us that way."

"I got your number yes." Floretta nods "Unless you've changed it." She smiles and looks at her hands for a moment. "I didn't change mine." she takes a deep breath, trying to stop herself from rambling further. "I'm happy you want to give it a try and I'm looking forward to it."

Eyrgjafa smiles at the other woman. "I can't make any promises as to how well it will go, but trying is well within both our capabilities, I think."

"I know and I understand." She smiles a little more and says a little in her seat. "Did you meet anyone particularly interesting here? Or learn about anything?"

"A few things, yes. More the former, honestly." Eyrgjafa considers for a moment. "Most of the time I spend here is people watching, honestly."

"I met with a Mage and I think one of the fae." She shrugs. "It feels a little odd having a place like this, but hey, its a learning experience."

"Oh?" Eyrgjafa looks genuinely curious. "I haven't met many of either, recently. More of the fae than the mages, I think, but I'm not sure about that."

"They didn't really let me in onto their secrets though, will require more pancake shared with them, I imagine." Floretta says lightly.

Eyrgjafa arches an eyebrow at her. "Do they really expect you to share pancakes with them? That seems rather rude, honestly."

Floretta laughs a little bit. "Well, It's part of the sacrifices necessary for the whole thing to succeed, eventually."

"What thing?"

"For them to let me into their secrets." Floretta nods solemly, clearly, this was a fool proof, serious plan. "I figure by three pancake, I'll get a tour of the kitchen." she chuckles.

"...I see. How well is that working for you so far?"

"I don't know, I've only ordered one set of pancakes so far and it wasn't shared." Floretta admits with a bit of a smirk

"...okay, then. What else have you been up to recently? Anything especially interesting?"

"Planning on investigating the Rat Host thing in some way, I'll try to use my Spider swarm tactics to look into it and see if I can't find something interesting in there." She runs her fingers through her hair.

"Ah, okay. Stay safe, if you do?" Eyrgjafa looks genuinely concerned. "Rat hosts aren't something I know a lot about, but the little I do know presents them as a threat."

"I'm planning to be as careful as I possibly can." Floretta reach across the table too and squeeze her forearm. "Don't worry, I'm only planning to do some scouting, I know I don't have the ability to just... end this by myself."

"Okay." Eyrgjafa sighs in relief. "Hopefully those of us who are going to be taking on them directly will have assistance from both the Fae and our Mage contacts."

Floretta gives a rather soft, tender smile for a moment as she squeezes the forearm again.
