Freehold Hollow

Log

Ylva Theodulus: Ylva was sitting at one of the tables with a smile on her face. She was drawing on her tablet working on a tattoo flash sheet.

Sitting next to her was a very large plate of roast meat. She had omly taken a few nibbles from it.

Asbolus: Asbolus emerged from one of the cottages that ringed the freehold hollow, slipping something into the pocket of his jacket as he went. A quick scan of the area led to a slowing of his pace as he spotted Ylva, head tilting slightly in a somewhat canine fashion. "Salutations," he called out, giving her a quick salute.

Ylva Theodulus: Ylva waves over at him with a few tails. Holding at her tablet finishing up the peice she is working on.

"Hey Asboslus."

Asbolus: "You seem to be in good spirts." He replied as he moved to join her, taking in the changes to her mien with that keen gaze of his. "Was the trip to the Market successful?"

Ylva Theodulus: Ylva nods with a smile.

"It was, yeah. Expensive but. Successful."

She finishes with her tablet putting it down and taking a small piece of meat to nibble at. Offering the plate to Asbolus.

Asbolus: "Good to hear it." He nodded, waving a hand at the offered plate. "Don't eat meat myself, but thank you for the offer."

Ylva Theodulus: She tilts her head at how little she wanted to eat.

"I don't eat much. Apparently."

Asbolus: "So it seems." He moved to claim a seat beside her, peeking at the tablet briefly before looking back to the Courser. "How are you feeling?"

Ylva Theodulus: "Weird." She rubs her face a bit.

"Empty but like. Not in the same void to be filled way. Just. Weird."

Asbolus: He nodded quietly. "Had a feeling that would be the case. Do you think you might pursue another shaping to take it's place, or have you not gotten there yet?"

Ylva Theodulus: "I haven't gotten there yet. For now I'm just enjoying the. Hmm."

She pauses for a moment.

"The lack of a desire to eat you. In the nicest way possible."

Asbolus: "Understandable." He nodded with a smile. "That lack of worry suits you, I will say."

Ylva Theodulus: There is a genuine smile at that. A carefree smile.

"Thanks. Its nice to just hang out. Its. Easy. Which will take some getting used to."

She says with a chuckle.

Asbolus: "I can imagine. A good change to deal with, though."

Ylva Theodulus: "Oh absolutely. Though."

She says with a slightly less light voice.

"I do feel like I can't open my mouth. Id gotten so used to that. Its odd to have a normal mouth."

Asbolus: "It is a bit of a shift, isn't it. The physiological differences between the ways we can be shaped are often rather...interesting..." His words faded off as something dawned upon him, a "why didn't I think of that sooner?" sort of look crossing his face. "Well, I feel a bit the fool at the moment."

Ylva Theodulus: She tilts her head, that canine expression coming through.

"Hmm?"

Asbolus: "One of the contracts available through the Mirror allows for a temporary shift in one's kith, including the usual tricks that come with that shaping if one such as myself does the reshaping. I've used it a few times myself, but it just dawned upon that I could have offered you the same for a bit of reprieve from that hunger." He looked to her at that, his expression apologetic as was his tone as he continued. "I wish that had come to me sooner, but perhaps now you could use it as a test run for any path you may want to pursue in the future."

Ylva Theodulus: Ylva nods at that looking a little sad for a moment. A little bit of longing. Another nod before it turns into a smile.

"That's okay. We all forget things. Especially.... at... markets."

Asbolus: "I usually don't, so this is a bit of an outlier." He sat back in his seat, frowning a touch, then looked back to Ylva as her own sentence trailed off. "Take it that's what you traded for it, then?"

Ylva Theodulus: "Yeah. A memory. It wanted a memory, an emotion."

She looks up at the sky.

"I wonder what it cost."

Asbolus: "They found it a worthy one for such a shift in your being, so I couldn't say." He watched Ylva as she looked skyward, mulling for a moment. "It seems to have been worth it, though, for the peace you feel at the moment."

Ylva Theodulus: "Yeah. It's odd. I know something is missing but as far as I can tell i remember everything."

Another chuckle. Ylva hadn't laughed like this since before.

"Its nice to feel at peace."

Asbolus: "I'm not sure I'd be so comfortable with that kind of invisible gap myself, I'll admit. Then again, regaining what I'd been missing from There was a large part of why I pushed my own story farther along the path." He offered a shrug. "I am glad for you, though."

Ylva Theodulus: Ylva leaned forward offering him a shoulder or hand whichever he wanted.

"Oh. Its far from my only blank spot. It's why it would be hard to pinpoint honestly."

Asbolus: "True enough. For me it was a fog between what came before and after with small flashes of memory regained in between, so the absence was much more noticeable."

Ylva Theodulus: Ylva nods her understanding.

"Its still all, hmm. I'm not sure what the word is. I can remember it all. It's just hard to keep it straight."

Here is a chuckle.

"Maybe because I can remember it more than most of my life. Supernatural memory."

Asbolus: "Perhaps. The way the mind reacts to the things we've been through manifests differently for everyone, I've noticed."

Ylva Theodulus: "Its interesting. More so now. To look upon those memories without the Hunger is. Horrifying."

Asbolus: "I can imagine. Knowing what you were driven to do by it, by them, but with the clarity that comes with it no longer being on your shoulders."

Ylva Theodulus: A nod.

"Sorry to put all this on you. Just can't talk to who I normally would about this. Unless I want to get told off by her and Vorp again."

Asbolus: "No need to apologize, I'm more than happy to listen." He said with a small smile, eyebrow quirking up slightly. "Oh? Who would that be?"

Ylva Theodulus: Her eyes go doey eyed as she speaks.

"Klaire. She's a sleepwalker who I've been with since before everything. She is going to try pulling some strings to slow the investigation."

Asbolus: His own smile warmed as he saw the obvious care Ylva had for the woman in question, nodding quietly. "You mentioned her before but I haven't had the pleasure. I'll have to speak with her and Vorpal at some point to see what assistance I can offer with the matter."

Ylva Theodulus: "Yeah. She is only recently part of our world and. Technically. Only because I have loose lips."

She smiles and tries to not let her regret show.

Asbolus: "Ah hah." She did earn a quiet look for that, as Winter's gonna Winter, but he nodded. "The want for others to know enough to understand what we've been through is common enough, I can't fault you for that. Thankfully no further issue needed to be made of it."

Ylva Theodulus: "Yeah. If I'm honest. I thought she was a full Mage just newer. Like compare me to Vorpal. It's a gulf of power."

Asbolus: "Right. I haven't had too many interactions with the mages here, although a friend of mine was in a similar situation of having gifts of their own and eventually getting brought into their fold for their own safety. It worked out well in the end, all told."

Ylva Theodulus: "I've only really interacted with Fox. The lovely weird ball of chaos."

There is a chuckle again. Apparently Ylva has the giggles.

"Im glad it worked out well. I keep forgetting she doesn't have our background to be polite and she keeps being horrified."

Asbolus: "I've met her as well, actually. She and one of my motleymates-to-be are very close, and she seems quite the gem herself." He nodded with a small smile that shifted to a wry smirk as Ylva continued. "I'd be more concerned if she wasn't, admittedly."

Ylva Theodulus: "True enough. But I forget. Like if we talked about our Durance it wouldn't be the same but we would understand. She doesn't."

There is a moment where she cuts off and tries to backpedal.

"Which is like good and amazing but sometimes I forget."

Asbolus: That sudden shift in direction didn't go unmissed, much to Ylva's likely consternation, with Asbolus' eyebrow arching up a touch. "How much you tell her is ultimately up to your discretion, as long as it doesn't bring trouble to the freehold. The more she knows the more some may want to know what she knows, however, so keep that in mind."

Ylva Theodulus: "She is protected by the Free Council. I won't tell her enough to warp her mind. Just ideas rather than specifics and how it felt to have my body reshaped by Him."

Asbolus: He nodded at her answer, making a mental note of the unfamiliar term. "That should be fine, then."

Ylva Theodulus: There is another chuckle.

"I might be an idiot but I'm not completely stupid."

She looks up at the sky judging the time.

"I should get back. Need to get my Hollow finished before Vorp checks in on me. Don't want her finding a wreck."

Asbolus: "Now I never said that." He replied with a chuckle, giving a nod as he moved to stand from his seat. "I should be heading out as well; have something to deliver to a friend before the holiday tomorrow. Was a pleasure seeing you as always, though."

Ylva Theodulus: "No. But I did."

She chuckles.

"Have a good day and a merry Xmas? Sorry. Not one I celebrate but I hope it goes well for you. It was nice to see you. I'd like to do it again."

She finishes with a touch of a blush.

Asbolus: "Certainly. I'll have to have you by my hollow for a change rather than always dropping by yours." He said with a polite smile. "Have a good rest of your evening."
