Log

Kayla Sockum — 04/13/2023 7:45 PM Given the people involved, the topics in question, it's a strange event to figure out how to teach and learn something as complex. Master Diamond had just emerged from Maddy's at the same time as Master Kaminari was on her way in. Fate, time and other such forces at play here, in some manners, drew the Moros' attention more sharply toward the other woman.

"You're looking for something." Kay makes the statement. She's dressed in a pair of loose black pants, running shoes and a tanktop with a zip-up hoodie, large sunglasses and she carries a purse in her hand. She stays there, waiting for Kaminari to react to the sudden moment.

Izumi Masaki — 04/13/2023 7:55 PM -Kaminari looks like she probably just came from the gym, which she honestly probably did because well that's kind of the kind of girl she is. She lets out a breathe, riding that nice work out high most likely.- "Yeah I am here for something that is for certain. I'm hoping to find a teacher to help me delve more into Fate since it is one of my areas that I'm trying to improve on and word is you're one such person who might be willing to help me out in that aspect."

Kayla Sockum — 04/13/2023 7:59 PM "I leave my anti divination shield out for one day." Kay jokes. "Let's find someplace we can have a conversation about this sort of stuff."

"How do you prefer I call you? I'm Kay. Currently, I'm using feminine pronouns." She starts walking, looking around curiously. "Do you have a space you'd feel comfortable in?"

Izumi Masaki — 04/13/2023 8:09 PM "Well right now I'm not exactly acting in any official capacity so Umi or Izumi is fine and I also use female pronouns. We can go where ever you prefer to be honest. Doesn't have to be my space, just somewhere that we can figure things out."

Kayla Sockum — 04/13/2023 8:34 PM "You know, one of the things I keep running into is that I don't have a space that's solely my own." Kay mulls over. "Would you mind hosting this tonight?"

Izumi Masaki — 04/13/2023 9:27 PM "I suppose I could host it. I've just been bringing other people to my space less and less since the incident but we can certainly give it a shot."

Kayla Sockum — 04/13/2023 9:31 PM "If you'll allow me shielding practices, there shouldn't be any problems with me going there." Kayla answers. "I've heard about the issue in passing, I tend to stay away from the consilium drama."

Izumi Masaki — 04/13/2023 10:10 PM scratches the back of her head "It's not exactly something that I actively sought out. It just happened. If you want to shield that's fine. I suppose, I'm just getting straddled with a little more of a mystical burden than I would've liked. I would've preferred to stick to my six or so but I'm having to branch out a bit more now. It'd be easier with a family but I'll carry it for as long as I can."

Kayla Sockum — 04/13/2023 10:23 PM "It's mostly for the benefit of your space. If I'm not careful I could leave some marks. With proper shielding, It's avoidable. It's also preferrable if I protect myself from a few other things too. Just in case." Kay looks around as the magic occurs, without any sort of outside looks, her standard loadout of spells refreshing.

"Lead the way."

Izumi Masaki — 04/13/2023 11:04 PM "It might be a bit of a trek but I think it's worth it due to the location of my home. Pretty out of the way and most people don't bother each other unless they hear something really strange. So all we have to do is keep it a little on the DL and not summon Cthulhu . . . yet."

-she jokes, it does take a little bit of time unless different methods of travel are used but eventually they do make it to Izumi's home and sanctum-

"Pardon the mess, wasn't really expecting visitors."

-In all seriousness it wasn't THAT messy, there were just sewing materials and cosplays in various places that didn't really make too much sense, but maybe there was some kind of system there that only Izumi really knew-

"I usually do my practices around here, depends on the time of day though. Sometimes it's actually in the room where I make everything sometimes it's elsewhere but here is generally the place where I do things."

-The curtains are closed quite shut and things do seem secure from prying eyes, at least on a mundane level- April 15, 2023

Kayla Sockum — 04/15/2023 5:29 PM Kayla observes the various materials and craft equipment and smiles at the sight of the lot of it. "What's your next cosplay plan?" She asks, a roll of her shoulder and she turns toward Kaminari, her attention now on the other woman.

"I like the space, I don't think we'll need any chanting so any nosy neighbors won't hear anything."

"So, Fate, is that the only thing you're looking to learn?"

Izumi Masaki — 04/15/2023 10:52 PM "Oh. Uh probably Caenis from Fate Grand Order. I'll do a couple of her in some armor and the rest in Rider form, that'll probably do more than enough to get me through the month."

-A shrug-

"Well truthfully probably the next two months but I prefer to plan on the chance that something isn't as big of a hit as I think it'd be."

-She glances around and offers a slight smirk-

"If it comes to that I can just do a little Forces to reduce the noise, so far there hasn't been a need but it could always happen. The only thing I'm looking to learn? No. Of course not. I want to learn a lot of things, in our line of work if we stop seeking knowledge that's usually a sign of great arrogance. I need to get my Mastery in Fate, Time, and Life, I think I can hold on Matter for a bit. After that I need to learn some more Spirit since things seem to keep going in that direction. All the while keeping up on my martial training and attempting to learn new combat styles and ways to apply magic to and during it. After all, Adaptability is Strength." April 16, 2023

Kayla Sockum — 04/16/2023 4:01 PM "Fate mastery is complex, but the concepts around the arcana was a bit simpler to grasp for me, Time ran my patience through the grinder even at the initiate level." Kay admits, scratching the back of her neck, as she scours the surrounding area for a potential seat to take.

"If you'd want to start with Fate, I'd like to know where you're at currently, what are your views on it, just to understand what kind of approach to take here."

Izumi Masaki — 04/16/2023 11:45 PM -Kaminari moves to grab what appears to be red string, she then starts to silently unroll the entire roll. Next, she begins to weave it between her fingers as she starts to create a myriad of various symbols and shapes. As she does this she walks over towards Kay-

"I am a Disciple of Fate. Would you mind putting your hand out?"

-She asks and waits for her to either comply or deny, the end result could quite possibly be the same. She smiles fondly as she begins to speak-

"This thread tells of a legend, the legend of the red thread. Thanks to Fate, everyone's little finger is tied to an invisible red string that will, inevitably, lead them to another person to which the other end is tied to and with whom they have an important story. According to the legend, this is true to all people, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. Along these strings the strings of others will cross, the lines will touch, sometimes even get tangled, contract, or stretch but never shall they break."

-She tangles the threads to illustrate the point then untangles them-

"These tangles are obstacles that need to be overcome but in the end the string will always be there attached to the other person at the end, waiting for you to reach it." -A brief pause before she continues- "This legend teaches us, that through a web of encounters there is a pre-determined and perfect path set out for us by the thread. It connects us on our irrevocable route towards our ultimate destination, along the way progress, assistance, direction, clarity, or even wisdom can be found upon the edge of another person's string which you have crossed."

-A smile as she continues to work the thread in various ways-

"This legend always makes me reflect on my life and the experiences I've had. The people I've met, helped, hurt, loved, saved, lost, and especially people I've failed."

-Her smile falters and her tone turns a bit somber at the end-

"Does that answer your question?" April 19, 2023

Kayla Sockum — 04/19/2023 10:13 AM "How uncharacteristically fatalistic for an Obrimos. I like it." Kay says, struggling to untangle a particular know that formed around her ring finger. "So, the way you probably would interact with this tapestry would be to pull threads and see the patterns in the weaving to better push the imago. And maybe realize you can create or destroy further threads."

Kay closes her eyes. "I perceive fate as a sort of cosmic, vaguely karmic sort of mathematics. Change a number or a symbol here to make the equation what you want it to be and such."

"I think to push past further in your case, would be to learn how to knit a new tangle of knots from the frayed edges of your own stuff." Kay says, suggesting an imago. April 20, 2023

Izumi Masaki — 04/20/2023 2:48 AM -She smirks slightly as she opens her sight to Fate and reaches out to place a finger on her own string-

"You can't exactly tell me that; that legend isn't based on some truth now can you? Threads connect everything, its merely how much stress can you apply to them before they lash back at you?"

-She bites her lower lip as she stretches a finger up to the thread and applies a bit of pressure as she starts to attempt to create a new thread. If one had ever scrutinized Izumi's nimbus before they would notice that the thread she's made seems a little unstable? Almost like she's forging it from lightning and using that as some kind of "base"-

Kayla Sockum — 04/20/2023 3:01 AM "Multiple things can be true at the same time or at different times and sometimes that changes. When you're dealing with fate and time, logic starts to ebb away fast." Kay shrugs. "Magic is a personal thing to each of us, with enough things in common for us to share our experiences."

"A lot of how you view magic is touched by your watchtower, by your personal experiences. That view influences a lot." Kay smiles. [3:05 AM] "If you decided to change my destiny and managed it, was it less true ten minutes ago?" Kay shrug. "I don't even know the answer for sure, but..."

"legends in particular are difficult to discern in terms of truthfulness. Interpretation and perspective matters. I view fate in the way I view fate, but is it so different if I see it as Maths and put a 1 here instead of a two? Or if you pull a thread to tug down reality for the same goal?"

Izumi Masaki — 04/20/2023 3:17 AM "If I changed your current destiny to something else does the former one become untrue? No. A change to your destiny does not negate that there was ever an alternate destiny in the first place. That would only apply if Time was used to fully alterate it. But even then, there would be a Time line where that failed so all can be true at once, depending on the Time line. Though my view of Time might be different than your's."

-A pause-

"Well legends are all based on a kernel of truth, in my opinion. But it would be the same action just the way its achieved is different." April 26, 2023

Kayla Sockum — 04/26/2023 12:11 AM "My view of time is convoluted and full of metaphors to cover for the gap in my logical understanding of it." Kay admits. "Back to Fate and teaching it..."

"Do you have a specific goal with fate? A spell you wish to be able to do? An attainment? Is it something you have to reach to shape a legacy? Or earn the favor of a mentor?" April 28, 2023

Izumi Masaki — 04/28/2023 10:35 PM "Unfortunately no, this is not for a legacy. The legacy I hope to one day create will most likely utilize Forces and Time. I hope to create something that feels like a true part of my soul went into it and from the legacies I know of, none really fit me."

-She shrugs-

"I want to learn for similar reasons that I hope most people do to some extent. To utilize it, to give themselves, friends, and allies a better chance of enduring the hardships that are to come. Perhaps a bit selfish but it seems most of us have those moments, it's what keeps us human, right?" May 4, 2023

Kayla Sockum — 05/04/2023 5:54 PM "I formed my own Legacy as well. Master Kaminari, it is quite the challenge you're attempting. But one I am familiar with." Kay says stretching her arms out long. "I hope you find what you need to shape it."

"Yeah, I know a thing or two about hardships while being a wizard." Kay nods. "But It's simpler to deal with it, for me, knowing all I know about the world and having some perspective." May 8, 2023

Izumi Masaki — 05/08/2023 12:48 AM "I hope I do as well. I have found easy roads to be not worthwhile and forming my own Legacy feels like the right thing to do even if its going to take me a significant amount of time to do so."

A pause

"If we could forgo formalities I would appreciate it, I don't see any reason why this situation should really warrant it. Its easier to deal with things when you have a network that supports you, a family that backs you, and people who challenge you and tell you when you're wrong. When you need to own up to things you've done, swallow your pride, and just make things right."

She silently sucks in her cheek for a moment in thought before continuing

"I've got my order and I am grateful for it; its not the same as having a Cadre or anything of the like. I still need to figure out what to put on this place to keep it more secure. Might just have to add a few conditionals with triggers to keep it more my own. Anyways we should probably get on with the lesson a bit, yeah? My ranting isn't getting me anywhere but in my own head." (edited) May 16, 2023

Kayla Sockum — 05/29/2023 1:20 PM "Space magic is the name of the game for protective aspects. Prime helps, otherwise it all depends on which phenomenon you're hoping to prevent in particular." Kay says, looking around "And sure, we can keep off the formalities, I just tend to keep them on when interacting with people of the consilium for the first few times. Some of the people I've met over the years consider them like basic set of politeness." A shrug and a smile. "What is the name you'd prefer I use?" June 1, 2023

Izumi Masaki — 06/01/2023 3:41 PM

"Well sadly I don't know Space and I never intended to really learn every arcana either the rate I'm going I'll be at least a Disciple of everything."

She sighs

"I'm a bit odd, I don't really consider it impolite when no one else is around. Names are sort of hard for me. I have my name that the Fallen world knows then the one I forged myself, Umi-Saki which is the name of the Cosplayer. Then there's Kaminari, the me known to Magical Society or at least kind of. We can just go with Umi, it's felt a bit more free lately."

(Was told it would be okay to close this due to work load)
