Text from Mearc to Nevy: sorry about all the undertones in that conversation earlier. or at least the ones coming from my end.

Nevermore: It seemed like there was a heck of a lot going on. Lux is awesome. Mikey was a hoot. Drake is...
N: ...

M: go ahead.

N: Lux is awesome.

M: yes, yes they are. and mikey always comes to a situation with good intentions.

N: Noted. How worried should I be of Drake?

M: mmm. i don't honestly know the answer to that question. he's the sort of person who likes to push people to follow their desires. but if the desire is to fly, he'd lead you to a clifftop to give that push.

N: The way he stared at my coat was... uncomfortable. I don’t think I like him. He’s the guy for the asl?

M: he's deaf, or possibly Deaf, yes.

N: Your expression at that point makes sense now. Not gonna lie, I think I’m going to keep my distance. He seems like he might invite me to his basement for a bottle of amontillado wine so he can ‘borrow’ my jacket.

M: ah. no, no. he'd be more the sort to choose you as a muse, making more and more extravagant works based not on you but on his perception of you.

N: strangely more disturbing.

M: is it really that strange?

N: Guess not.
N: So. do you want to talk about it?

M: which part?

N: What parts do you want to talk about? And did you want to grab dinner to do it face to face? Or would that awkwardize things?

M: do you want to tell me some ghost stories you haven't written down?

Longish pause.
N: I never asked. Do you believe in the afterlife?

M: yes.

N: Did I ever tell you about my Granny?

M: i don't believe so.

N: My Gran on my dad's side died when I was really little. I never really got to know her.
N: On my mom's side, Granny? I was her favorite. She was always there, when I was growing up. I'd have long conversations with her after school, all the way to high school.
N: Of course, people thought I was a little odd, since she died when I was five.

M: aha.
M: has she since moved on?

N: When I went to college. She said I could take care of myself then.

M: good.
M: on some level, this all isn't that surprising to me. i mean, not that ghosts are a thing, but that you're capable of interaction with them.

N: You’re taking this pretty well for something impossible.

M: would you want me to doubt you?

N: No. I’m glad you believe me. It’s hard to talk about this kind of thing without people thinking you’re crazy.

M: i don't think you're crazy. i also don't think you're lying. i believe your experiences are real.

N: Thank you.

M: if you ever need someone who you can talk to about it, let me know. i can't see ghosts myself, so i can't really Help with it, but if you need to talk to someone who isn't going to poo-poo you, i'm here for it.
M: here for you.

N: Thank you. Same, if you need to talk about anything. I know you can't talk about everything, but.

M: perhaps a little more now.

N: Whatever you can. When you can.

M: nevermore, please allow me to impress something on you explicitly: what i cannot tell you is not for my own sake. it is for your protection. extrapolate from that.

N: That's.... impressively ominous, really.

M: coming from you, that's a high compliment.
