He leads the chase against agents of the Gentry wherever they can be found, more than happy to throw himself into one realm after another in pursuit of Their agents. This aggressive demeanor cost him his left eye, and would be more frowned on by the other crowns, if it weren't for the fact that Devon's aggressiveness has brought him into direct contact with other supernatural creatures, allowing Ari to forge alliances with Sin-Eaters and Mages in the area. Devon isn't much for diplomacy; calling him brusque would be an understatement. But don't joke too much about it -- the last time someone made a joke about Devon's single eye meaning he only has one perspective, it ended in a duel.
