Maddy's Wafflehouse

Log

Magpie: Maddy’s is quieting down after the lunch rush when a distorted, static-y crackle sounds from the…door? Followed by a similarly oddly muffled voice. “Welcome, lovebirds, to radio KGBY, nationwide, it’s your host, DJ Miggy, the big CK himself!”

Someone in the back groans.

“Now let’s get back to…groovin’!” is heard before “Love Is A Battlefield” starts playing, before a lean and tall man breezes through the door, shooting finger guns. He’s wearing a navy button up short sleeve with little tan dogs from like, a sporting magazine from a hundred years ago embroidered on it, with oxblood skinny pants, brown leather loafers, and a coat that looks like it belongs to an ex-Russian military weed dealer. He smells a little like an ex-Russian military weed dealer, but with better cologne.

His height is somewhat hidden by the way he kind of folds himself up, and there’s definitely something birdlike about the man.

Tommy Shanks: A smile was on her face as she stepped through the portal. TOday she was in a sapphire blue dress, with silver hoop earrings and her ever present satchel. Dropping some of her usual specs, she let out a deep sigh. The forces magic in the air made her smile and pique a brow towards the caster as he entered.

She gave him a once over and then approached with a hand out to shake, "Heya! I'm called Bones. I can give you the whole title if you want, but it seems not to matter so much in town here."

Magpie: “Ooh, a fellow practitioner?” Cookie asks as he turns to look at the approaching Mage. “In a general sense, at the very least.”

He shakes hands firmly. “Oh, are we doing super secret saver shopper’s club names, or like…street names? Like, is that Mizzizatrix Bones, or can I intro you as B-O-N-then-E, Snoop Bone?”

Tommy Shanks: She blushed at the name play, "Yeah, Bones. It's what people call me as an Archaeologist, since you know, Names and shit have power," a shake of her head and then a laugh, "You're the most laid back member of our block that I've met yet."

Magpie: “Me? Nah, there’s gotta be another, who’s like, listening to Spacegrass after smoking some space grass—oh shit, that’s me too,” he says with a chuckle. “Since I’m off the clock, call me Cookie Monster—but since you’re gorgeous and friendly call me Cookie,” he says with a wink.

“I’m in to score some weapons grade wafflage, if you wanna find a seat? I’m always happy to meet another member of our merry band.”

Tommy Shanks: "I'll take a stack, sure," she grinned, blushing after the compliment, "Nice to meet you Cooks," she found a spot where she could watch the door and portal both for arrivals and sat down. She placed an order for some Pigs in Mud as cakes, and coffeeeeeeeeee. Her eyes then move to watch Cookie.

Magpie: Cookie folds up into a chair, a foot tucked under a knee. “Cooks, I like that,” he says with a grin. He orders a pile of plain waffles and joins the coffee train, then mirrors Bones by watching her. “It’s nice to meet you too. I’m a transplant, myself, how long have you been in town?”

Tommy Shanks: "I spent my teenaged years here, left for college and then Awakened life. I've visited a few times, met Cambyses, Epiphanius and Yaraslov in the past, worked with them... then well," a frown, "Dad got sick. Kind that it would be real questionable if they got better, and would require more Life than I know. So I'm the good child, and take care of him...." And then she noticed she was rambling and sighed, " Tldr? Since like October since I got back, since last month that I've been active in the scene."

Magpie: He bobs his head. “I’m from I-o-way, been out here for what, a couple years now. Just digging the scene and making a living and learning stuff. It’s been good. Sorry to hear about your Dad, that’s…a shite situation for both of you.”

Tommy Shanks: "Learning is always good, Cooks, learning is always good. And hey, just because we have phenomenal cosmic power, doesn't mean we get to use it to fix all of our personal problems, right? Isn't that what they teach about Hubris and what not?"

Magpie: “Naw, it’s like we have to use the phenomenal power of the human mind to exist, or something,” he says with a smile. “It’s cool you’re still drinking coffee and indulging strangers boldly flirting with you and living your life; it’s a lot when you have a personal problem like that, and it’s easy to lose yourself.”

Tommy Shanks: "I'm still me, just a bit more learn-ed, right?" she said as she lifted the coffee and then took a bite of waffle. Through it, she spoke, "And I am usually the first to flirt, so it's nice to be flirted with... not sommin thathappens a lot with me yet when I look like this, versus when I'm in my birth body and the like."

Magpie: “Birthbody? I, uh, absolutely don’t want to pry, but uh, since you mentioned it, I’d be happy to hear more about it, especially if it enhances the proactive flirting experience.”

Tommy Shanks: "Oh. I'm a Disciple of Life, and Genderfluid. Therefore I take the form that I wish from moment to moment, day to day. That sort of thing...." She dropped the spell, because why not, and became his masculine presenting form. Then a flicker of magic as he used his Praxis to take a more androgynous shape, with broad masculine shoulders, but feminine curves as well. Their voice was now a low Alto, high Tenor versus the high Alto before, "See?"

Magpie: He blinks, and grins. “Oh, that is certainly something to remember. Extremely cool,” he says, looking each of Bones’ forms over. “And you have a gift for crafting forms, not to mention the one you came with is a looker too,” he says with a smile. “Magic is so cool.”

He waggles his fingers, and a packet of sugar and a little cup of creamer flit to his hand from the service on the table. Interestingly, the display pings Peripheral Sight, but not as Supernal Magic.

Tommy Shanks: "Ooo, magic really is awesome," a grin at his eyeing each form. It's Tommy's turn when the attainment is used, and they study CM. "Cool trick indeed. Lots of forces with the magic, the telekinesis and the like... Also one of my specialties but not as... Natural as yours seems to be."

Magpie: “I can bust out the regular version if I need to lift a car or something, but I’m a Tamer of Winds, and the Wind flows between my mind and all things. Separation is an illusion, and that sort of thing. Energy is also a wave, and thus information, and all Fates are one, et cetera.”

Tommy Shanks: "Ah. I've not found a Legacy for my soul yet, but I'm happier having met you, Cooks the Tamer. The elemental legacies are such ancient and worthy concepts."

Magpie: He beams. “Call me Magpie for the real shoptalk, but thank you. I have to say I’m happier for meeting you too. I hope you find something that calls to you, Legacies are very rewarding journeys, on top of the…perks.” He covers his waffles in butter and syrup, and chows down with a gusto just shy of being Too Much.

“You said you’re an archaeologist? Fuckin’ radical—I run a history YouTube channel and podcast, lots of research into that sort of work.”

Tommy Shanks: "Really? Yeah. I was at Chichen Itza when I Awoke!" they were clearly excited to find another lover of history. She herself started eating like no tomorrow as well, even though it was still steaming hot. Through another bite, "Magpie, Cookie Monster, Cooks, Tamer, all sorts of names. Like a Magpie, collecting."

Magpie: He chuckles. “Cookie Monster is a nickname that stuck after a hilarious case of munchies, Magpie is my nomme de guerre, if you will,” he says with a wink, drinking some coffee. “Chichen Itza? Cool! Damn, that must have been a place to do that. I was on a friend’s couch, 3 hours into an acid trip.”

Tommy Shanks: "Yeah. Met the Gods of many Pantheons or their reflections in Aether," they rolled their neck and let it pop... they perfectly aligned their joints with the shape change of course, "It was a long discussion, but a blink of an eye to those around me."

Magpie: “To borrow from a good show, I saw the time knife. A glittering edge of all things before and to come, silver and steel and gossamer, walked by beings of Law and Causality and twisted everything-ness. Bit of a shock coming back and realizing the changes I wrote into my skin there stayed with me when I came back.”

Klaire Henriette: It was at that moment that Psyche decided to show up, heading in from the portal from the city. It was still an interesting experience to get used to, not transporting herself under her own power. A german shepherd in a service dog vest is by her side, and sits calmly while Psyche talks to the person at the front. A moment later Rook's head turns to the sound of Bone's voice and his tail starts wagging.

For those with Mage Sight, they could see the connection of Mind between the dog and the person, and Psyche's head turns as well to see Bones, a small wave and a questioning gesture. Clearly asking permission to join her and the excited looking stranger.

Tommy Shanks: Bones' gaze popped up as the Portal began to shimmer, because Space stuff. Then they saw the magical connection between Klaire and Rook. Their face broke into a large grin, and she drew three claw like fingers over her mouth, before speaking. "Psyche, Rook. Lovely to see you my friends! This is a new friend, Cookie Monster. Psyche is a Sleepwalker with the Free Council."

There was a ripple of magic as they began to speak.

Magpie: “Oooooh, killer name,” the Cookie says as he turns. “Pleasure to meet you,” he adds with a grin. “Feel free to sit with us.” He taps the side of the table with empty chairs, and curiously the sound seems to beam straight to the psychic’s ears, without being muddied by spreading through the rest of the diner.

Klaire Henriette: Psyche walks over, taking the offered seat as Rook curls up under the table. He lays in such a way to have his tail right up against Psyche and his nose SQUOOSHED into Bones.

"Cookie Monster is...an interesting name as well. From Bones' introduction I am guessing you are another of the Awakened?" Well...and whatever trick he just did.

Rook whines up at Klaire, and the connection of Mind pulses again. Bones however can hear him. "Still work? Want pets, Bones gives best pets."

Klaire gives a small smile and looks at the two Mages. "And...Rook is asking for his vest off. Would that bother either of you?"

Tommy Shanks: They reached out a hand to acknowledge Rook but waited for the pets until the vest was off, "Rook is the bestest dog, of course the vest comes off..." And then about Cookie, "He eats a lot like I do! Seems like good people so far. "

Magpie: Cookie tilts his head and looks between Psyche and Rook, eyes unfocusing for a moment. “Oh, cool! I can do that too. Never tried it with a dog, though. I wonder, what’s your technique like? I have to sew the thoughts of individual minds together, and it takes a while.”

Klaire Henriette: Psyche reaches down and unclips the vest, seeing no opposition. Rook immedietly snuffles into Bones' palm to get the scritches. Psyche takes a pause to order a plate with pancakes and bacon, as well as something for Rook before answering Cookie.

"You practice Mind then? Sirius showed me how your version works, and...well its similar but different at the same time. Your version has almost a static of other people's thoughts, yes?"

Tommy Shanks: "I think," they scritch Rook and give them a piece of meat from their plate, "that it depends a little on the Imago of the spell. Like Cookie just mentioned sewing, and I told you about the COffee Shop."

Magpie: “Yeah, it depends. Like, I can do it with Mind, but can just do it freehand.” He pinches his fingers near his head, and casts an invisible thread to Psyche, who can feel the idea of an impression of a thought brush her mind.

“Like I said, takes a while to do it my way. Have to do that like, way more times.”

Klaire Henriette: Psyche gets slightly eary at the magic being cast her way. "I...don't understand all that much about how all your magic works, just that it does. My powers take just a few seconds to concentrate. I think the scrying takes the longest of anything I know. Although...I find I typically have to meditate for my mind to be clear enough for that one."

Rook happily laps up the meat from Bones' hand, snuffling for more but stopping at a glance from Psyche.

Tommy Shanks: Their gaze flickered through Magpie's threadwork, seeing the mental side of it, even if it didn't make the minor tingles occur.

Then out of habit, they also looked down at Rook, "You doin' all right down there?"

Magpie: “Oh, it’s a long story. Basically I’ve shaped my soul in ways that let me do magic without doing magic.”

He gestures another sugar packet to his hand and tops off his coffee.

“It’s more like what you do than our normal fair.”

Klaire Henriette: Rook's tail waggles and gives an excited woof, which roughly translates to "I love you give me pets."

Psyche was focused on the other conversation. "That's quite interesting, what all can you do in that regard?"

Tommy Shanks: They kept listening to their conversation and basic level of scrutiny without breaking the rules, while talking with Rook and spoiling them while Psyche was distracted with more treat-meats.

Magpie: “I can…make things go faster, move sound around, weave minds together, move things with my mind…other tricks. Can’t say them all,” he finishes with a grin. “But I if I ever seem like I’m thinking about two things at once, it’s because I am.”

Tommy Shanks: "Which realm called you first? I do not know from which Path the Tamers stem."

While highly curious about the abilities, there was also a tint of jealousy towards the powers without casting.

Klaire Henriette: Psyche nods, playing back the sugar packet in her head. "I can do something...similar. Its less fluid as that and more akin to teleportation. It does tend to give some wear and tear on an object."

She holds open her hand and a different sugar packet appears in it, and the other sugar packets in the container fall over as the one is removed. The one in her hand is steaming slightly, and when she opens it the sugar is slightly melted together.

Magpie: Cookie blinks. “Did you just…Nightcrawler some sugar? That’s awesome!”

He grins to Bones. “Acanthus. Had to turn my mind in knots to attune to Forces, but now I can see the vibrations that form reality, so that’s cool.”

Tommy Shanks: As Psyche did her trick, the space sight active in their mind tingled. They studied the quick glimpse of the activity and gave a "hrm" of appreciation. Then, they leaned down to give Rook a kiss on the nose, before looking up to Cookie, "Whoa. That's quite the soul-weaving, pun intended."

Klaire Henriette: Rook returns the kiss by a lick to the face, an excited pupper with someone way more relaxed than Psyche.

"I guess...that is a way to describe it? I can teleport myself or other people but it gives an awful friction burn. I'm used to it so I'm usually good in an hour or two."

Magpie: “I feel you. I jailbroke my phone and installed aftermarket parts, but the GPS still stops working if it’s traveling faster than 5,000 miles an hour, it’s the damnedest thing.” He shrugs. “But it’s fine.”

He nods to Bones. “Yup. Tends to throw people off, but it’s like, uh, Enlightenment. If you know, you cannot understand. The Wind blows between all things—all is sound, is wave, is motion, is idea, is thought. I need someone to kick me over the hump to mastering Mind, and then I’ll be able to pull information from the universe directly.”

Tommy Shanks: "I would look at talking to Sirius, he seems to like to help guide and do things like that," a tap of his own head, "He offered a bit for me once, maybe a trade situation."

Klaire Henriette: "I can't go far enough to make my phone struggle too much. That does seem like...an interesting problem."

She nods to Bones. "I agree. Sirius and Bones have been helping me adjust. Sirius is a supportive teacher from what I have seen."

Magpie: Cookie pauses for a moment, and for just an instant his whole demeanor changes.

“Ohhhhhh, Sirius, yeah yeah. Cool dude. I’ll talk to him, there’s a couple other people I could ask. Another Acanthus, actually, so that’d be an interesting conversation,” he says with a grin.

Tommy Shanks: "Oh, and of coure, you turn off the phone before you portal...or airplane mode... or I use forces to bubble the signals, or matter to make it switch things off without pulling it out... or..." they slap their own mouth slightly, "Stop Rambling, man."

Klaire Henriette: Rook gets up and puts his head in Bones's lap, snuffling their hand. The cute puppy dog eyes are demanding "just pet me, no worries, only pets. You cant be sad if you are snuggling me!"

Psyche gives a slight smile. "You don't need to stop yourself from rambling Bones. Promise."

Magpie: “Oh, we ramblin’? Hell yeah, brother…sister sibling! What about? The Warring States Period of Japan? Russian tea culture? The 90’s vampire renaissance? The origin of the word gumshoe?”

Tommy Shanks: A smile crossed the Obrimos' face as they melted into Rook and snuggled more, while directing their voice to all three of them, "I've always been a rambler, bad habit that I try to contain slightly... I know when I get going and going that it can be minutes without stopping, so I try to stop early, but thank you for the support, friends."

Klaire Henriette: Rook's tail wags as he melts into Bones' hands. He doesnt have to say anything, the thought in his head is clear. "Aw yeah, I am the bestest boi!"

"While not quite...that much, I ramble myself. Sometimes its nice to get your thoughts out of your head. I find it quite endearing if nothing else."

Magpie: “I ramble professionally, so I always excuse it in others. Besides, we’re the wizards people get embarrassed in front of, we only get embarrassed outside of prying eyes.”

He gets them another pot of coffee, and loads up another cup.

Tommy Shanks: Just to be cheeky, when Cookie is up getting another pot, Bones tried to do a little time magic, and instead it fizzled... hard to make an Imago while snuggling a pup like Rook.

Klaire Henriette: Rook begins to blep at the snuggles, his job is to stop the anxieties!! He is doing the best job.

Klaire's food arrives and she takes a few bites, waiting until Rook isnt as distracted to sneak him a bite. When Cookie returns she pipes up. "Not here due to all the rules, but I have a request at some point."

Magpie: Cookie whips his head around when Time magic doesn’t happen, then returns to make coffee.

“Oh? What?”

Tommy Shanks: "Technically, most of hte rules just involve consent to be studied, Psyche," they offered, "So if you wanted Cookie to do something to you or Rook or vice versa, you can as long as you both give clear consent..."

A very crimson faced Tommy reluctantly let Rook go to eat with Klaire.

Magpie: “Rook’s not my type, but I’m a willing adult,” Cookie chirps in with a wink.

Klaire Henriette: Psyche debates it, then shrugs. Rook takes a bite and then goes RIGHT BACK. Bones is his job now, gotta protec. Klaire is ok right now.

"I want to watch the sugar trick you did again. Preferably from within your own head. Thats how I learned much of my own extent of powers and...well I am appreciating the new perspectives I've been finding."

A slight unease at the joke. "I do have a partner already, so no, it is not that."

Magpie: “Oh, oh I didn’t mean—I was just playing off the innuendo. Totally cool,” he says with a little zipping motion of pinched fingers.

“So yeah, get on in, I’ll keep all the thoughts about how beautiful of a lady Bones makes in my second head,” he says with another wink, this one to Tommy.

“For serious serious, it’s fine with me. Let me turn it off first, though.”

Tommy Shanks: "Oh goodness..." they completely blushed now, looking as red as some of the strawberries in the diner.

To Rook, this time in dog barks, I'm okay, my friend. I'm just embarassed that a spell I tried to do failed, and then a cute guy has been flirting with me all night

Klaire Henriette: Klaire gives a small smile, appreciating the ease at dropping the conversation. She gets last bit of conversation from Rook before she drops the mind link, the connection dissapearing to Mage Sight.

Rook meanwhile doesn't understand the whole spells or anything, but does understand embarassment and flirting. "*I get that. I once saw a mailman but I was working but I was distracted and I ran into a lightpole. Dont tell anyone and I won't tell anyone, ok?" A happy tail wag at getting to talk to Bones.

After a moment, Klaire's mind reaches out to Cookie's. There isnt even a touch of a presence from his perspective, but the Mage Sight shows her power working. Albeit its weaker than it was with Rook. She gestures. "I'm ready when you are."

Jeremiah Hamilton: An extra flicker of magic crossed the Senses of the mages present as the portal did what portals do, with Jeremiah entering into the diner with a spring in his step and a smile on his face. The Mastigos was dressed up a bit this evening, black dress slacks and a burgundy long-sleeve shirt rolled neatly to the elbows paired with a black tie and vest to round out the ensemble. Spotting the familiar faces present his smile only grew. "Hello everyone. Hope I'm not interrupting..."

Tommy Shanks: "Goodest Boy..." they say to Rook, before shifting up to study the world in Prime, Mind, and Space. The portal magic drew their gaze, before looking to the other pair at the table, "Hey Jay, Sirius, et cetera. Psyche and Magpie here are trading mental and spatial magics here for funsies."

Magpie: “To be fair, I’m only Magpie just now,” he says as he closes his eyes. “If only to make this more…educational.” His voice is half a register lower than it was before, and his demeanor is different, more bird-like, colder and more alien.

“Hello, Sirius,” the Acanthus purrs as he moves his hands in odd little gestures.

“Magics is a…complicated choice of words. At the moment I am letting Psyche witness the internals of my working mind as I shape Wind into a sustained flow connected to my mind. Others may see it as a Vector, but that’s rather unpoetic to me, as it doesn’t account the Fabric of Fate being wrapped around a thought.”

Klaire Henriette: Psyche waves at Sirius as he enters, not devoting much attention to him. The curiosity shone in her eyes as she watched, similar to how the others watched her demonstrate her own abilities, just without a Mage Sight. She does however have an insider scoop to how his own brain frames it. She notes the voice change but...the task at hand was her focus.

"So...its like manipulating everything around what you're grabbing then? Using the forces connected to you to move it just like if you were using say...a hand thats connected through nerves to your mind?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah, interesting." Jeremiah said with a grin, claiming a seat near the trio as he called up his own version of the Sight to better observe the goings on. The shift in demeanor didn't seem too unusual to the Warlock, familiar with embodying one's Shadow Name as he was. "Never tried that myself, I'll admit, but I'll have to keep that one in mind."

Tommy Shanks: "Studying an imago through telepathy... leave it to Psyche to think of that, when we old pro mages haven't..." The Obrimos looked over at the Mastigos before looking back at Klaire and Cookie. They studied the magics and connections as much as they could during the instances of magic.

Magpie: “It’s not an Imago—no Supernal overlay to entreat the change in reality. It’s my own soulmade like to the Forces of the world. In that way, Psyche has a much better chance of understanding part of it. And yes, it is not dissimilar to making a hand of force, though the connection to my mind is more…arcane.”

He opens his eyes, and makes the coffee cup raise to his mouth.

Klaire Henriette: Psyche gives a small smile to Bones at the compliment, glad to have a supportive friend. She focused back as he raises the coffee, focusing on how his mind percieves it, and overall just studying. She is a very attentive person when it comes to these things.

"Its almost similar to how I feel about telepathy to send thoughts to others. Like speaking but...using my mind rather than my body."

Rook scoots around to his other favorite Mage, staring up with pitiful eyes at Sirius. Clearly he is being starved. Starved I tell you!

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jay smirked as Rook scooted his way, giving the pup many good scritches. "Nothing wrong with a new perspective to shake things up." He replied to Bones as he watched the cup rise under Magpie's control, familiar enough with the base working to follow along.

Tommy Shanks: With all the teaching and studies, Bones looked at the cooling coffee in Magpie's hand. Instead, a wave of their hand and they made it the perfect drinking temperature.

Magpie: Cookie grins, and takes the cup with his hand to drink. “And now I have it for a week,” he explains, his persona returning to normal, before flicking a finger and causing a napkin to flit towards Bones. “Maybe I like my coffee cold,” he says with only playfulness behind it.

Klaire Henriette: Psyche's influence retreats from Cookie's head, watching the napkin, their eyes following it as it flies across the table. She spends a moment staring off into space before a wagging tail of a Rook snaps her back to reality. Rook continues to lean into Jay's hand for the scritches.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jay sat up a little straighter as the latent psychic energy around Psyche suddenly kicked into gear, watching her with a slowly growing smile on his face. "You good? Spaced out there for a second..."

Tommy Shanks: A cheeky grin in return to Cookie as they return from the Shadow, "Well you obviously know enough Force to fix it yourself."

They watched the floating of the napkin hit energy coming from Psyche with a pique of the brow, "Nice job, kiddo, nice fucking job. You were close. The energy was there, you just didn't hit it quite hard enough... that's fucking impressive to me, first time out."

The lights begin to flicker dimmer, and then brighter and back, with Bones' nimbus excited around them.

Magpie: Cookie grins. “No, no, no, Bones, you’re supposed to say, ‘how would I know that’, so I can say, ‘ask me to get coffee sometime and pay attention to my order.’” He winks, and the pulls the napkin to him.

“Psyche, you are a fascinating sort. Learning that much just by copying me…wild stuff,” he says with a warm smile.

Klaire Henriette: Psyche looks super confused, and looks between the three Mages.

"Huh? What do you mean? Sorry I spaced it a bit, what happened?" She leans a hand down to scritch at Rook as she blinks back to paying attention.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "You just took another step on the Path." Jay replied with a bright smile, motioning towards the napkin now in Cookie's hand. "You reached out for it, although it didn't quite take."

Tommy Shanks: "One of these days, we gotta do the Apocalypse on you, Psyche. Get you some Mage sight for a while."

Magpie: “Boof, I don’t know about that, all at once. Though Psyche can chest and baby step as much as can really be done, I suppose.”

Klaire Henriette: Psyche shakes her head. "That sounds...intimidating but maybe at some point. Do you mean I...?" She points at the napkin.

"Sorry, I just...took a second to get out of your head is all, getting back into mine can take a second. I don't even know how I..." a confused shrug follows. Rook turns, sensing the emotions and lays his head on her lap. She starts scritching him absent mindedly.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "In due time." He said to Bones with a light finger wag, looking positively giddy himself. "That's not something you want to rush."

"Little bit of crossed wires, maybe, but you certainly made an effort." He nodded as Psyche motioned towards the napkin. "May be worth trying it again intentionally at some point."

Tommy Shanks: Their phone chirped and after checking, they regained their non-magical form. As his body finishes changing back, he looked around the group, "Gents, Lady, Bestest Boy, I need to be on my way. Papi needs more medicine and spilled something. I hope you have a wonderful night..." and on a napkin near Cookie Monster is a phone number while he walked out.

Magpie: Cookie waggles his eyebrows and tucks the napkin into a pocket on his jacket. “Things are coming up Milhouse!” he says to no one in particular.

“Mmm, I should be going too, actually,” he says with a little sigh. “Got stuff I actually need to do. Work and all that.”

Klaire Henriette: Klaire still sits in a bit of shock, trying to think through the last minute. She waves to both the Mages. "Take care you two. And um...thank you for the demonstration, Cookie."

Rook looks sad that Bones was leaving, eyes following for a moment, but goes right back to helping Klaire like a good boi.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Have a good night." Jeremiah nodded to Cookie and Bones as they moved to head out, sliding into the booth across from Psyche with a quiet smile on his face. "How are you feeling?"

Klaire Henriette: Klaire looks at the departing Mages for a moment before back to Jeremiah.

"Well...I didn't expect to do...whatever it is I ended up doing today. I just wanted some pancakes and bacon in all honesty."

She pauses for a moment. "Was handling a case last week and besides that...just meeting new faces?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "That can be arranged, assuming you haven't ordered yet." He nodded, glancing for a server that might be available. "You never know what you'll run into in here; had some interesting night myself."

"That's good. Been pleasantly busy on my end, including some further development of my own courtesy of a cadremate of mine."

Klaire Henriette: She motions to one of the empty plates on the table. "Im in no rush, I can stay a while longer. Bones has...been spoiling Rook with leftovers. I hope his stomach can handle it." She gives a slight smile down to Rook, the mind link re-establishing itself with the pupper.

"Cadremate?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah...hopefully so." He glanced down to the dog with a smirk, flagging down a server for his own order of coffee and Pigs in Mud waffled before looking back to Psyche. "A cadre is a group of allied mages, sometimes of the same order and sometimes different ones. We combine resources, help to protect each other and work together towards larger problems. Mine in particular specializes in working with sleepwalkers and newly Awakened to help them get on their feet."

Klaire Henriette: She nods. "Ah, that makes sense. Im glad your...cadre, is focused on helping those like me. You've been a huge help with my own adjustmemt."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Happy to help. We've all been there, and I like paying forward what was taught to me back then."

Klaire Henriette: Klaire finds herself staring at a sugar packet on the table, eye twitching slightly. No additional energy comes from her.

"I hope I can pay it forward one day as well. I think I am coming to appreciate joining more than I was annoyed at having to join. I don't like to admit when I'm wrong but...maybe I was."

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah smirked a touch as Psyche started eyeballing the sugar, giving a quiet nod. "I was resistant myself at first, I'll admit, but that came more from what state I was in at the time."

Klaire Henriette: She nods, giving up on trying to move the sugar. She orders a coffee for herself...she was going to need it after all that energy spent.

"What got you to change your mind? You at least appear content now."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "My eventual mentor there, primarily." He nodded to the server as they brought their coffees over, putting a notable amount of sugar in his own before taking a sip, holding the cup between his hands for the warmth as he continued. "I Awoke in pretty rough circumstances and had a lot of physical and mental hurdles to get through afterwards, and he and the other members of the Ladder there helped with a lot of that."

Klaire Henriette: Klaire gently pats Rook as they talk, getting her coffee pretty quickly. A fair amount of cream but no sugar.

"Can I ask or would you rather not talk about it? Im a pretty good listener."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "You can. Wasn't sure how much detail you'd want to hear."

"It was a car accident, bad enough that they had to cut me out and the only reason I don't have permanent injuries is because of magic. Best as I can tell I Awoke during the accident but was in a coma for a few weeks after. My girlfriend at the time was also in the car but she didn't make it; finding that out after I woke up only made it worse."

Klaire Henriette: Klaire listens close. A message is passed to Rook, who circles the table and puts his head on Jay's lap. He looks up at Jay for pattos.

"I'm sorry. Thats...awful. I can't imagine having to deal with all of this just after that happening to you."

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah smiled quietly as Rook scooted over to offer comfort in return for pats, shifting a hand to give him some gentle scritches. "It was...a lot. I had the support I needed to get through it, though, and was able to remake myself into someone worthy of the gift I'd been given." He smirked a touch as he continued, wry little thing that it was. "Think I've done an alright job with it."

Klaire Henriette: She smiles. "Im glad you had a good support group around you."

Rook relaxes into his lap, enjoying the pets and doing his best to be a help!

"I know I don't have a say, but I believe you have make yourself quite worthy. You are a good person and someone I am happy to call a friend."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Thank you, and you as well. I do my best with what I've been given and try to be a role model for others where I can."

Klaire Henriette: She smiles, taking a sip of her coffee. "Thank you. I've learned a fair bit from you already."

Rook keeps close to Jay, but relaxes a bit.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Glad to hear it." He smiled in return, taking a sip from his coffee with his free hand while continuing to give Rook some good pats with the other. "How's Ylva doing, by the way?"

Klaire Henriette: "She's doing well. Still trying to readjust still and...hasn't met with Astrid. Her wife. We are just trying to get her settled still."

Klaire nods slowly. "There's only so much I can do...but I'm trying to help where I ca . Her worst fear is accidentally eating someone she cares about, and she struggles to control it."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Just being there for them can help a lot, I've noticed, to act as an anchor for them when things go a little off. I've done that for Polly in the past."

Klaire Henriette: Klaire pauses for a moment. "I was in her head when she had a rough moment. It was hard to calm her down afterwards."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I can imagine. Dealing with those kinds of urges can't be easy." He let out a quiet breath, shaking his head. "What happened to them still makes my blood boil, not going to lie. No one deserves to go through that."

Klaire Henriette: She shakes her head. "It does just...anger me so much. I tried my best to keep her out of these things and...she found her own way in. I just wish there was some way I can her help more."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "From what I know it's less that she 'found' a way in and more got dragged in kicking and screaming." He watched Psyche for a moment, giving her a knowing look. "Ask her what she needs, be there for her when you can. It may not feel like enough, but it helps."

Klaire Henriette: She nods solemnly, but then a slightly more energetic nod. "Thank you. I'll do that. She's been through so much but...shes so strong to be where she is right now." She sighs. "I should probably get on with my day. Thank you for the advice."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "You're welcome." He smiled, giving Rook one last scritch before moving his hand and tapping his temple. "Have a good night, and let me know if you get something to move."
