Text from Tsara to Yael: `Am I supposed to have a lawyer?`

Yael to Tsara: `not unless you need one, why?`

Tsara, with no other context: `Someone sent me a contract and suggested I should have my lawyer look over it. Do you know one?`

Yael: `wait, back up like 3 steps. Who sent you a contract, for what?`

Tsara: `Apparently she's a 'literary agent' whatever that is. I decided to write a book, and I left it up to fate to get me in touch with someone who could help me get it published.`

Yael: `wow`

Yael: `uh, yeah, I know a lot of lawyers. There are a lot of bad jokes about how many Jews are lawyers but it's actually true. I'll ask at synagogue. Somebody knows somebody who does publishing and entertainment law.`

Tsara: `Wow?`

Yael: `sometimes I forget that you don't realize that most people wouldn't just do that. `

`it's really really cool`

Tsara: `If it's something they want to do, why would they not just do it?`

Yael: `because it's a big deal, and very hard to do for most people, and so it's scary.`

Tsara: `Is it? I figured there are so many books that anyone who wants to write one gets theirs published. But I'm also not a coward, so I'd probably just do it even if it was scary.`

Yael: `You would think so, but it's not easy. So people don't.`

`but you did`

`and that's great`

Tsara: `Well. Thanks. I'm glad you approve. I wasn't sure if you would think it was a bad idea, and I'm happy you don't`

Yael: `i mean, i want you to do the things you want to do and accomplish the things you want to accomplish. what kind of book are you writing? `

Tsara: `Thank you. That means so much to me. The book is historical fiction and romance. Well, historical for you. It's set in my original time.`

Yael: `oh yeah? People should like that. Historical fiction is really popular. I remember reading the Red Tent series, it meant a lot to me.`

`what's it going to be about?`

Tsara: `I just wanted to write about what I know, and to give people a glimpse into that world. The story is about two rival tribes in conflict over resources, and two members of the different tribes who fall in love. I don't want to spoil it all, but it will be very gay.`

Yael: `oh`

`yeah, I really want to read that`

`people will love it`

Yael: `not nearly enough historical fiction is gay`

Tsara: `Well, I wanted to write about what I know.`

Yael: `... fair.`

Tsara: `Do you really want to read it? It hasn't had any proper editing yet or anything, but I would love to know how you feel about it so far.`

Yael: `I will never tell you that I want something unless I actually do. It's a waste of time and kinda mean. Yes, I want to read what you wrote.`

Tsara: `Sorry, I didn't intend to accuse you of that. That's my past baggage speaking, I suppose.`

Yael: `is okay, for real. We all have baggage.`

Tsara: `I shouldn't have packed it all up and took it with me on this trip, but apparently I did!`

Yael: ` unfortunately it tends to come with us no matter what we do`

`the good news is that I like your baggage and the luggage it's packed in`
