Log

Guy knocks on the door to Petra’s apartment, standing outside in his usual clothes. He looks a tad excited.

Petra looked a bit ruffled, hair mussed and fluffed up in all directions. She smiled to Guy and opened the door all the way for him. "Hey sweetie, come on in! How are you doing?"

“Hey,” he says as he steps inside. “Did I catch you sleeping? Or is it a bad hair day?”

She gave him a distinctly grumpy look. "I'm awake!" she protested. "My hair's fine. This is fine."

“I’m not complaining. Unkempt is a good look on you. He picks her up and kisses her softly, walking to the couch and sitting down with her in his lap. “Still up for movie night, or do you just want to relax?”

"Doesn't a movie night count as relaxing?" she asked with a laugh.

He chuckles and pick up the remote as he kisses her neck. “Sure, just didn’t know if you’d be able to pay attention for a movie.”

"Alright, alright. What are we watching then? What are you in the mood for? Good or bad?"

“Hmmm...bad sounds nice, I think. Better for cuddling.”

“Or one of those Kung-Fu movies?”

"A vampire movie?" she teased. "Everyone knows kung fu in those."

“Yeah? What about...this ‘Underworld’ movie? That’s about vampires, I think?” "I think so, it should be appropriately terrible," Petra laughed. "And next time we can watch a fairy tale."

“Ah, next time, then,” he says with a smile, settling in with her. He kisses her head and relaxes as he starts the movie and begins petting her hair.

"What's it like being a vampire?" Petra asked, leaning against his shoulder. "Or maybe, what was it like being a vampire back when you became one?"

“Mmm...then? Being an outsider wasn’t so bad, because I had her. And I was strong, keen...didn’t have to hide so much, because the nights were quieter, but that also meant that we couldn’t just pretend to be night owls, you know?”

She tilted her head at the screen. "Do 'ultraviolet' bullets or whatever affect you at all?" Petra grinned. "Have you ever fought a werewolf?"

“Never had an ultraviolet light shine on me, but I think I would have heard if they were bad. And no, but I saw some fight, and it was...something else.”

Petra wrinkled her nose at the gore on screen. "Maybe they're better fighters than Hollywood would have us believe. Why are movie fights always so bad?

“I’ve seen a few that are pretty good, but yeah...it’s because they aren’t really fighting, I guess.” He rolls his eyes at a few points. “Wait, did she just pass out from getting stabbed? That doesn’t even make any sense. We don’t do that.”

"It doesn't even make sense from a mythological point of view but I guess they needed to have him save her life somehow? Otherwise how could they build a bond of mutual trust and all that? You know they're going to go Romeo and Juliette."

“Ugh. The one with the rival clans and the dying for no reason? You’re probably right.”

“Could have had a better reason for him to not be useless, still.”

"They were talking about how hot he supposedly is and now he's been bitten by a werewolf! And why the heck is she attempting this Awakening if it's literally never been done? Why can't she talk to the other guy she works with? The one that was shooting with her? Isn't there anyone who can give her advice on what to do?"

“I mean, at least waking people up in torpor is a thing, but yeah, it comes across as a total shot in the dark. Except she’s convinced it’ll work. Ugh. Ugh!”

"Is that what it looks like when you're in Torpor? That's pretty gross, for the record."

“No, you’re a corpse, but you don’t rot. You look all pretty while you’re in the Long Sleep.”

She gave him a peck on the cheek. "Just no sleeping on me, ok? I'd miss you too much."

He looks to her, nodding as he touches her cheek. “I’ll do my best, not to leave you...I swear it.”

"Did you know that we can bind people to their promises?" she asked softly. "Don't make any of us promises unless you mean to keep them, ok?"

He kisses her forehead. “Ah...well. Since I can’t promise I won’t, I will tell you that I don’t intend to leave you alone, missing me. I...I love you too much, it would break my heart.”

"I'm not going to bind you," she said with a chuckle. "And you put in a good qualifier with 'I'll do my best' But that's still really vague and there's plenty of wiggle room for the... magic to screw you over if you don't do your literal best."

“Ok...I get what you’re saying.” He kisses her softly. “I’ll be careful about promises. Thank you for warning me.”

"Good thing our relationship isn't forbidden or some bullshit." She said with a grin and nodded at the characters talking about their war. "It'd sure be a mess between my kind and yours."

“Yeah,” he says with a grin. “Be real awkward if I had to fight for your hand...or would you like that?”

Petra rolled her eyes. "I would not enjoy you trying to actually hurt my friends and family. Though you are pretty hot when you fight. Sparring is cool, actually fighting, not so much."

“Oh, I meant other vampires, I wouldn’t hurt your people except under duress, in that kind of situation. But yeah, luckily we’re free to love each other.”

"I don't want you to hurt your own people either! I mean look at this movie! Everybody is getting shot and dying all over the place! Thrown through walls... This could all have been resolved with some common sense and decency."

“Ok, but I’m assuming that if that situation arouse, it would be because other vampires lacked common sense and decency. We aren’t necessarily a nice or close-knit community, unfortunately. But, the Philly we have is probably the best place for us, so I’m glad we’re here.” He kisses her softly. “I’m so glad I met you.”

"We aren't all nice either. We're just... people. Good, bad, megalomaniacs... c'est la vie."

“I guess that’s true pretty much everywhere, huh? People are people.”

She reached over and ruffled his hair. "Even when they're dead or fae, yup. You can take the mundane out of a mortal but not the human out of the heart."

“Very much.” He looks up as the credits start to roll. “That was...an experience...” He glances at the clock, and frowns. “It’s getting late, should we head to the bedroom for a while before I head out?”

"I love you Guy, but I'm tired," she admitted. "Another night?"

“I mean, sure,” he says with a nod. “If you like, I can stay until you fall asleep, but I can go now if you’d rather.” He carries her to her bed anyway, and kisses her forehead.

"You can stay." She said with a yawn as she snuggled up next to him. "I like cuddles, it's nice, and it feels good when you preen my hair."

He lays next to her, wrapping an arm around her and petting her hair. “Good night, Schatzi...”
